Amplify: The B-Quick Odyssey Page 6

“No, it was the voice of an angel.” A different one replied. Back in the room, I then turned to Talen and said,

“Its music in its rarest form. The very thing that can control life itself runs through my body constantly. However, I can only wield it if it’s already out in the world existing. If there is no music, no sound, no soul, my powers can’t exist. But once it’s in my grasp, I’m unbeatable. So in order to beat him, I propose that my team and I throw a concert. We set it up back against the edge of the city, maybe above water so they the won’t surround us. And then we can crush them in one blow.”

“And how do we draw the Goblin out?” he asked. I was a bit hesitant.

“Well we would all be in open meaning…”

  “Meaning what?” he asked.

“You’ll be consumed by the guitar. I need a distraction long enough for me to lead him into the concert trap. Are you cool with that?”

“Are you kidding me?” Talen responded, “If you would’ve asked to kiss my girlfriend, you would’ve had a better shot at me saying yes. I built this base in order to prevent that from happening.”

He has a girlfriend? I had to laugh inside. But I had to give him a choice.

“So which one do you want? Do you want this base or do you want freedom?” I asked, “I know what I’m asking you is hard. But all I need is for you to trust me. I promise I won’t fail you. If you do this, I swear after this meeting, you won’t have to come back here.”

“You’re overcooking my grits Bee.” he then stood and thought, “Alright, we’ll follow your plan. But you better be right about this. I’m putting everything on the line for you, Buzzy.

By morning, the goons, the crew and I made our way to the edge of the city. We saw the sun rise. Oh yeah, I knew that it was going to be the perfect spot.

“Alright, here’s the deal,” I said, “We need to have this fort built by sun down. Lets get to it.” We started putting the parts together. The goons were helping Honey with the stage, Terry was putting up the lights, while Foxy and Snax were putting together the sound system. Everyone was doing their best. However, it wasn’t fast enough. I had to help. I started helping with the stage. But then it was to the point where everyone was in the way.

“Slide over guys I got this.” I said. I then had space and opportunity, so I put the stage together. It was like putting up blocks. I then took over the lights and placed the rest on. Then I put the sound system together. I thought that was the end of it. But no, I needed more lights. So I put more lights up. I needed more sound, so I got bigger stereos. I needed it to be bigger. No! Bigger! NO! BIGGER!! And before I knew it I had a sound system fortress. I stepped back and looked at our masterpiece. And the best part was that we didn’t even break a sweat. I looked behind me and everybody was in aw. What was the big deal?

“I know what we did was great.” I said, “but trust me, if everyone didn’t pitch in and helped like they did, it wouldn’t have been as perfect of a fort as it is now. We will take it to them tonight.” Everyone looked at me like I was some crazy bee.

“What?” I asked. Honey then spoke up.

“I speak for the rest of the group by saying that, Holy moly you’re amazing!”

“What do you mean?” I asked.

“We didn’t help at all.” Foxy chimed in.

“You did it by yourself.” said Snax, “We started it but you took over the project and completed it five minutes flat. I got it on tape if you want to see it.”

“I did?” I looked at my watch. We started at 8 AM and now its 8:05. I didn’t know what to say. All I could do was smile and scratch my head.

“Well what are we going to do now?” asked Terry.

“I guess wait.” I answered. And that’s what we did. We sat around and waited until nighttime. We were bored preparing but don’t get me wrong, we did get a bite to eat at the nearest restaurant. And they had white rice and honey. Yummy.

8 PM came around and it was time to put the plan in motion. The crew waited by the fort while Talen and the goons followed me down into the city. As we were walking, we stopped in the middle of the city. I looked left and saw a bad goon in the shadows. Just as I suspected, they were taking the bait. That goon was going to see Talen and I together and tell the Goblin. He couldn’t resist the urge to kill two birds with one stone. I looked at the time and it was 8:55. The sun was almost gone.

“Stand your ground troops!” Talen ordered. He then turned to me, “Are you sure this is going to work?” he asked.

“Trust me, man.” I answered. The alarm on my watch went off. It was time. We then heard roars in the distance. In the distance we saw an army of mind-controlled goons coming our way. Then we heard a bass guitar shredding, it was getting closer and closer. The Goblin floated in the air over his army playing his guitar. It started getting aggressive.

“Ok gang, you ready to do this?” I said. I looked to my right and Talen was getting frustrated and fueled with rage. He couldn’t hold back and maintain his original self. He and his goons looked like the rest of the goons in this ruined town. The Goblin then screamed out,

“MOSH PIT!!” all the goons attacked each other and me included. It turned into a free for all brawl in the street. There were punches, kicks, and throwing left and right. I manage to get out of the pit. I booked it up the street to the fort.

“Get the bug!” the Goblin yelled. The goons instantly chased after me. I contacted the crew on my radio,

“Ok guys hit it!” Foxy played the first cord on her guitar

  Waka Waka WOW WOW

  Waka Waka WOW WOW

  Waka Waka WOW WOW

I ran and leaped on top of the stage to my turntables and got to scratching.

  fiki fiki scratch BOOM

The bass dropped blasting a devastating sound wave. It blew the crowd away. Luckily, Talen and his squad were able to get their heads back on straight. He smiled and gave me the thumbs up. I plugged Terry’s microphone into the speaker. An electrical charge came down from speakers, into the mic and into his arms.

“Now Terry!!” I yelled. He gave me a nod.

The Hot fire Tiger is back in affect/

all the things you thought you knew is about to be checked/

I’m crucial on the mic/ rap is worse than the bite/

Goblin can try with all his might but he’s about to get wrecked/

Well I got to hand it to him, he’s vicious. As he was rapping, his words came to life. He formed soldiers from the ground using the speakers electricity all while the electricity was forming as armor on the goons that were on our side. Now we have a fighting chance. Terry joined the right as he rapped. Honey followed after him. She opened her third eye and it shot out a laser beam. The Goblin had enough he then shot a beam from his guitar and hit one of my speakers. He reloaded and shot a second beam. Suddenly, Foxy jumped and absorbed the blast with her guitar. It knocked her back but she recovered by back flipping and landing on one of the other speakers and hitting him with her guitar knocking him out of the air. I then jumped out from behind the booth high in the air over the Goblin, as he was falling I yelled, “Amplify” and shot a vibrating laser ball of light onto him. He hit the ground and it made a crater as powerful as a meteor. I landed on my feet near the smoke. As it cleared, I saw the Goblins decrypted hand holding the Headphones of the Beyond. I smirked and took it from his cold fingers.

“I’ll take those.” I said triumphantly. I looked around and all of the goons were back to normal. Wondering what was going on. They then looked at me.

“Look…” one of them said in aw. They and the crew then surrounded me. I guess they were waiting on me to put them on. As I placed them on my ears, I was able to hear everything in the world. I heard everything beyond the stars, I heard things that were so quiet and calm, like pin drops and ocean waves. I can manifest my powers with these no problem. I took them off and looked over at Talen.

“Looks like we got rid of yo
ur Talen problem.” I said.

“That’s cool of you, Buzzy.” he said, “You definitely lived up to your reputation. It’s now time to rebuild this city. Thank you. So tell me, what are you going to do now?”

“We have to move on and stop Crispy. You helped me receive one of the items that was scattered. We need to recover the rest. But first….”

I looked at this torn down bus, then looked at my stage and equipment. I took all the parts on the stage and fixed it up to be part of the bus. And now we have a tour bus!! Woo!!! Foxy, Honey, Terry and Snax were amazed again. I opened the bus door and hopped off. As I walked to them I said with a smirk,

“Ladies and Gents, We’re going on tour.”

Moral: Help others and at the right time, they will help you.

  Chapter Six

  Who’s In Charge?

  Honey

I knew we were going to win that battle. Even though we weren't ready at the time, Buzzys powers were growing by the day. I’m glad I was able to see Grandmaster Fearless with my third eye. I’m glad that he made contact with me and told me to meet up with his apprentice. I was able to help push him beyond his limits. Fearless did say to throw him into situation before he would be able to think about it. That would keep him from backing out. However, he told me that I couldn’t tell Buzzy that I’m relaying messages from him. He didn’t want him to look to him for answers. Buzzy had to do it on his own. I could only guide him.

We were on the tour bus that Buzzy made from scratch. It was just us and the open road, blue skies, big clouds, open fields along with red canyons and big river banks. Foxy was fixing up her guitar that she smashed the goblins face with, Terry was writing some lyrics for his raps, preparing his word arsenal, Snax was documenting everyone on the bus, while Buzzy was on the computer making more beats for his DJ sets using the headphones of the beyond, leaving me to drive…I sighed… I hate road trips, and more importantly I hate not knowing where I’m going.

“Hey Buzzy!” I yelled, “Where are we going?”

“Say what?” said Buzzy as he came out of the headphones, “Oh, we’re heading west.”

“Uh yeah genius, but where are we going? What city are we going to? What are we going to retrieve next?” I snapped. OMG. Talking to him was so complicated. He took a deep sigh and came up to the front with me. He sat on the passenger side then uploaded the GPS from his phone and opened a see through map on the windshield. It showed the way to where we were going. The ending point was in Las Omega.

“Well judging by the look on your face, I take it you know where we’re going?” he asked.

“Yeah, I know this place.” I replied, “They say whatever happens in Omega, stays in Omega. It’s full of casinos, magic shows, creatures that haven’t slept or eaten in who knows how long along with with lies and deceit. They say you can’t tell what time of the day it is. It’s just one big long day. We need to stay on high alert, Buzzy. We don’t want to get caught up like we did at the Vixen Palace.”

“Yeah no doubt.” he said, “And that’s why you’re second in command.”

  “Aww really?” I said.

“Yeah,” he answered, “You’ve been on my case long enough, might as well give you a solid reason for it.”

“Come again?” I snapped. He laughed as he walked back to the back of the tour bus. I just shook my head and huffed. I then tuned in to my inner self. I attempted to make contact with the spirit of Grandmaster Fearless.

“Fearless, did you hear that?” I asked, “I said did you hear that?” he then spoke back,

“Yeah, I heard it all. Make sure he stays focused.

“Yes sir.” I replied. So we continued down the highway.

We made it to Las Omega and we had to stop for gas. I turned to the back,

“Hey somebody needs to pump the gas.” I yelled. Everybody stopped what they were doing and stared back at me. “Did you guys miss something? I drove for five hours! Somebody better do something!” I opened the door and folded my arms. Everyone then got off of the bus. I stood by Snax as he pumped the gas while Buzzy, Foxy and Terry went and got some snacks inside the store. As they were coming out, I over heard them talking,

“What now fearless leader?” asked Foxy.

“Now that we are in Las Omega, we find the Shoes of Altitude.” said Buzzy.

“Hold up, you mean to tell me that we came all the way this way for some shoes? Man when are we going to kick some fake rapper butt?” Terry complained. Buzzy had to explain this,

“You know, for a battler, you tend to complain a lot. And we can’t just kick down the front door and lay him out. If only it were that simple. He’s got the support of Dakeeto dragon. That’s our real enemy. He’s very powerful and we need all of the essentials to beat him. And these shoes are very powerful. These shoes can…. Well I don’t know exactly what they can do. But I heard they can make you fly faster than a jet plane.”

“Wait don’t you have wings under those clothes?” asked Terry.

“I mean… yeah but they are just for show. They don’t do anything for real. However, I read somewhere that bees can fly on a planet called Earth, wherever that place is.”

“Oh, well how about that.” Terry replied.

Snax tugged my shirt telling me that he was done pumping. Buzzy walked to me and poked my stomach. It tickled but it was awkward. I couldn’t do anything but shout.

“What the heck Buzzy?” I yelled. He laughed as I continued, “So who’s going to drive now?” “I’ll do it!” Snax volunteered.

“Wait, how old are you Snax?” I asked.

“Old enough to drive, move.” he slid me out of the way. I would’ve gone deeper into that but I didn’t feel like driving anymore so I didn’t care who took over.

“So Buzzy…” I continued, but then I was cut off by Foxy.

“Hey Buzzy,” he turned to her instantly, she then said, “Could you fix my guitar? I can’t tune it right ever since I hit the Goblin with it.” Buzzy took it and tweaked the strings as she stood there in her cute little girl stance. Gosh, I knew what she was trying to do. Buzzy better had not gone for that stupid gimmick. He fixed it then handed it back to her. She played a few notes to test it out and her face brightened.

“Thanks sugar.” Foxy said with excitement. She then kissed him on the cheek. Her boldness knows no bounds. She needed to be checked. She was the one on this bus that I still didn’t trust. She came from Vixen Island. All they were good for were mind games. He then said,

“Just try not to go across anybody else’s head with it. Ok?” She got on the bus. I kept my opinion about her to myself for the moment.

“Ok Buzzy, we are now in the city of mischief. Where do we go from here?” I said, “I say we get a hotel and a parking spot for this bus.”

“Sounds good Honey Que, lets do it.” he poked me in my stomach again. AH! He then ran on the bus.

“You’re going to have enough of doing that!” I claimed.

We rolled through the Omega strip. It was full of flashing lights and skyscrapers. There were big signs and street hustlers taking pictures with the locals as fake super heroes. They were also passing out tickets and flyers to magic shows. There were casinos everywhere, casinos in restaurants, and casinos in swimming pools, there were casinos in candy shops, casinos in movie theaters, I mean everywhere. Money definitely came and went constantly but it was all going in a big circle. The tourists were walking around as if they were important not knowing that they were getting played back to back. My third eye was definitely opened. We ended up parking at the Kingsman’s Palace Hotel. It was big on the inside. Layered in various spots of the casinos were the kings of the world set in stone. Kings like Allen the Magnificent, Killer the Conqueror, Napoleon Explosive, Muffy X, Dr. Malcom Luke Caesar, and Chiraq O’Drama. I don’t know about the rest of the guys but my third eye is telling me that something is fishy.

“Hey Buzzy something about these stones are very fishy.”
I said.

“Yeah well according to the tracker, the shoes are in this hotel.” he replied, “I guess we’re staying.” I shrugged my shoulders. We went to the hotel lobby and spoke to the lady at the check in desk.

“Ah DJ B-Quick,” she said, “The Mogul has been expecting you.”

“Touché.” Buzzy said. It had been awhile since he had been able to introduce himself properly. I couldn’t help but constantly wonder did he even realize how known he truly was? It was like he didn’t feel famous at all. I was sure he just felt like he was himself. It was everyone around him treating him different. Which made me also wonder was he cool with that? He then asked the lady, “Who’s the Mogul?” She pointed out of the window and we saw Bull Jive on a billboard. He was definitely an arrogant bull. The lady continued,

“Mr. Jive has set in the penthouse suit on the top floor.”

“Oh no,” said Buzzy, “We are not that kind of crew…”

“We’ll take it.” I said, as I cut his sentence…hehe.

“What are you doing Honey?” he asked.

“Relax, big head.” I said, “We won’t have to spend time finding him, Bull Jive will come to us. We can cut the time in half.”

“It could be a trap…” Foxy chimed in. Who asked her?

“Either way, they can’t beat us.” said Terry.

“Yeah lets go out in style.” Snax claimed as he was recording. The lady gave us a hotel keycard. I took it and we went to the elevator. Terry pressed the button to the top floor. We were able to see the city as we went higher. We went down the hallway and made it to the door. I swiped the card and opened the door. We were amazed with the place. There were so many rooms, there was a swimming pool with a water slide, a movie theater, a huge kitchen, king size beds in every room, a music studio, workout gym, an arcade, and other things that does not make sense to have in a hotel. How is all this stuff in here?
