Vampire's Retribution

by Anna Santos

“I didn’t know where else to go,” I sobbed. “I was scared and I…didn’t know if you…knew what she had done. Do you kill people for blood?”

“Of course not. It wouldn’t be wise of us. The hunters would be all over here, chasing us and we would have to…leave,” he muttered the last word, probably understanding Anastasia’s actions.

His words also clarified the situation to me. They would have to leave, and I would be left behind. She was trying to send me a message and to force Ewan to run away with her. The clever vixen! Too bad I ruined her plan.

“Is she trying to break us up?” I asked, after a moment in silence so he could think about what Anastasia had done. I added more venom. “Why doesn’t she like me? I’ve done nothing to her. Yet, she’s coming after my friends.”

“Sometimes, she acts like a spoiled child,” he said, gently rubbing the nape of my neck. “Do you want me to take you to the hospital to check on Sebastien?”

“I don’t know. Francesca is there with him. There’s nothing I can do,” I explained, sighing deeply so I could tame my fake tears. “I’m scared.”

  “Why?”

“What if she tries to kill me, too? I don’t think she wants us together, so we should probably just…stop seeing each other,” I suggested, leaving his arms and stepping back to clear my tears. “After all, I’m just human. She can kill me if she wants, and there is nothing I can do about it. So, I think, we should just stay away.”

Ewan’s eyes were static on me for a while. It gave me the creeps. It seemed as if he was seeing a ghost or just plotting something terrible.

He broke the silence. “You were really brave to come here and tell me all this.”

“I didn’t know you two were living together,” I said, looking around. I gazed at the door of her bedroom and then at his naked torso. “I think…I’m falling without a parachute into the middle of something that I can’t quite figure out.”

“What are you saying?” He incited me to speak my mind, but I wasn’t going to give it to him on a silver platter.

“You live together, you have a weird bond, and you are both immortal and…vampires. Suddenly, she tries to kill one of my friends, only to pretend that she’s innocent about it. She’s clearly marking her territory. I don’t know what twisted relationship you two have, but I don’t want to be part of it,” I explained, stepping back to the door. “I should probably go.” I wanted to leave and needed a plausible excuse to get out of his life and never see him again.

Ewan sped his way to me and placed his two hands over my arms. Startled, I gasped with fear.

“Anastasia doesn’t own me. And I want you,” he said. I stood frozen, staring at his cold, blue eyes and trying to understand his words. “I want you, Sarah.”

“Maybe wanting is not enough,” I reasoned.

“I can give you immortality. I can show you things that you have never seen. I can make your wildest dreams come true.”

Offering me immortality was his move to change my mind about breaking up. He knew that a fang-lover like my fictitious personality had the wish of becoming a vampire. His offer would look tempting and difficult to refuse. Before I could say yes or no, he crashed his lips against mine, and I tried to fight him. It was instinct, I just pushed him back, escaping from his hold. He wasn’t going to get his way so easily. Plus, the last thing I wanted was to kiss him.

“Sebastien was almost dead because of us. Do you think that I’m going to let this slide? Your daughter,” I air quoted, “tried to kill one of my friends. What do you think she will do to me?”

“Anastasia will be gone from our lives. I won’t let her do anything against you,” he said, bringing me closer. “I want you so much, Sarah. Please, don’t leave me. I can’t stand being alone again.”

“I don’t want to leave you. But…I’m confused and…we should talk tomorrow. Yes, that’s it. We’ll talk tomorrow. After I find out how Sebastien is. If he made it through the night or not,” I added, evading his embrace. “Meanwhile, you should talk to Anastasia. She lied. She is not nice at all, Ewan.”

“Okay.” He nodded and lowered his lips to mine, going for a last kiss. I let him kiss me because it was the wise decision to make since I still needed to pretend that I was into him. His last words caught me off guard, though. “Tell me you love me.”

Gulping, I caressed his face and whispered against his lips, “You know I do.”

The words refused to leave my mouth, and I had no intention of indulging his request. I wanted to leave him begging for more.

When I stepped back, I witnessed the disappointment on his face, the yearning. Smirking, I bit my lower lip hard before grabbing the door and exiting.

I strolled to the elevator, focusing on the floor and hoping he wouldn’t come outside and pull me to his bedroom. Hoping that he would go inside Anastasia’s room and all hell would break loose. She had been a bad, bad girl, she was going to be punished, for sure. The thought satisfied me.

  PURGING SHOWER

I ARRIVED HOME, after coming from the hospital, and keeping Francesca company. She was still apprehensive, yet Sebastien had recovered after the blood transfusions. He was resting, sleeping peacefully. I hoped that he wouldn’t have bad dreams about what happened to him. I had enthralled him to forget, but his subconscious still had the memory in it. It was just deep down, away from his conscious self but ready to lurk inside his dreams.

Exhausted, I could barely take off my clothes to get under the shower for a merited purging. A lot of events were heavy on my mind: Ewan’s words, Galvin’s proposal, my resolution on giving up my revenge, Anastasia’s sick game, and my friends’ lives at stake.

“Violet.” Galvin’s voice woke me up from my thoughts. It also startled me because I wasn’t expecting to have company.

I opened my eyes and stared outside the shower door. His eyes roamed my wet, naked body. I felt vulnerable and aroused at the same time. He looked hot in his dark jeans and a blue sweatshirt. The water was still falling over me, but I was already clean. I was just enjoying the warmth and the relaxing sensation.

“Cyan told me what happened,” he resumed his speech. “Are you okay?”

“Just tired,” I answered, turning off the water and opening the door. I smirked when I noticed that his jeans were getting tighter in his crotch. “Do you like what you see?” I teased him and went for the towel.

Galvin stopped me from reaching the towel. “You know I do.” His warm voice hit my face as he leaned down and his mouth took over mine.

His kiss was demanding. I was glad that he was holding me or I wouldn’t be able to stand up. I placed my hands around his neck as my body wetted his clothes.

“Vi,” Galvin moaned against my mouth. “I can’t lose you.”

“You aren’t going to lose me,” I assured, opening my eyes to stare at his handsome face. My fingers ran through his hair.

“She will try to hurt you,” he voiced his fears.

“I can take care of myself.”

For a few seconds, he remained silenced. Then, he kissed me again and held me tighter.

“I’m wet. I need to dry myself,” I reminded him when I managed to breathe.

Galvin hid his face against my neck. “You should have contacted me the moment you saw that kid fighting for his life.”

“There was no need. I knew what I was doing.”

He kissed my forehead. “I know. Yet I get worried. I love you so much, Vi.” His voice was aching, laced with longing and love, but also sadness and fear.

His overprotectiveness rattled me. “You shouldn’t be here. Ewan may come to my house to check on me, or to ask about Sebastien.”

His eyes lost their shine, and I realized I shouldn’t have said that. He was concerned, pouring his heart out, and I was being insensitive.

Pursing my lips in shame, I placed my hands over his face. “I’m sorry, baby. I shouldn’t have said that. I love you, too.” I kissed him to prove m
y point. “I’m glad you’re here. I’ve missed you and I’m happy that you came to see me. But you really need to treating me as if I have suddenly become helpless.”

“The transformation comes with side effects,” he argued.

I nodded. “I need a towel.” I left his arms and wrapped a towel around my body.

“Come here, I’ll help you dry your hair,” he said, taking a seat over the toilette and motioning me to sit on his lap.

I obeyed. “I wetted your clothes.”

“They’ll dry when I take them off to make love to you,” he said as he took a smaller towel and dried my hair. “Unless you want me to leave.”

“Don’t be mean.” I noticed how he furrowed his eyebrows in a tense expression. “What can I say to make you feel better?”

Dropping the small towel on the floor, he brushed his fingers through my tangled hair and placed a kiss on my neck. “I’m always fine when I’m kissing and holding you.”

“I know you,” I retorted as I laced my arms around his neck. “You aren’t okay.”

“I’ll be fine when all this is over and we get out of this place. You are moving to my home, remember?” I did, but I wasn’t ready to leave. Not after all that had happened. “You changed your mind. I also know you, Vi.” He sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. “I was afraid of that.”

“I want Anastasia’s head. She’s evil and I can’t live knowing she’s alive and hurting others.”

Arching an eyebrow, he asked, “And Ewan, you don’t want him dead anymore?”

“I couldn’t care less about him right now. I just want Anastasia to pay for what she did to Francesca and Sebastien. She made Francesca think Sebastien was cheating on her, and she drank enough blood to make sure he died if he wasn’t helped in time.”

“You don’t know if Sebastien was one of her lovers, or if she was just having fun with him. We don’t know anything. We don’t even know what your blood will do to him.”

I tensed. “What are you saying?”

“We are going to remove him from the hospital to run some tests and see what your blood will do to his mortal body.”

  “And Francesca?”

“She will be notified, and we’ll bring the kid back home, but we need to run some tests. You are different, you are no longer a human nor a vampire. We are afraid of the secondary effects.”

I got up from his lap, making sure my towel didn’t fall on the floor. “Do you think I can turn him into a vampire if he died even for a moment?”

Galvin rubbed his forehead, showing how tired he was. “Maybe a new type of vampire. It could happen. Or it just healed him and will eventually disappear from his bloodstream.”

“I didn’t think about it,” I mumbled, moving to face the mirror. I searched for my hairbrush on the bathroom vanity.

“You did what you had to do,” he said, straightening up and moving behind my back. Leaning down, he kissed my cheek. “Why are we talking about work when we could be kissing and having fun together?”

I smirked and watched him take the hairbrush from my hand and comb my wet hair.

“You’ve been evading me all day,” Galvin stated.

Butterflies swirled inside my stomach as I spun around and faced him. “What do you mean?”

He placed a strand of my hair behind my ear. “What’s troubling you?”

“I’m better now that I showered.”

“Are you sure? I’m here if you need to talk.”

I curled my lips into a smile and took my time to watch how gorgeous he was. “I know, baby.”

Galvin massaged my shoulders. “What’s on your mind?”

  “You are extremely good-looking.”

Placing his index on my nose, he teased, “Tell me something I don’t know.”

  “You are also cocky.”

“If it makes you feel better, you’ll also gorgeous and breathtaking hot.”

  I pouted. “Only that?”

Trailing his finger down my neck, he added, “You are also my best friend and the person I trust the most.”

I grinned as I played with the buttons of his shirt. “Then be a nice boyfriend and kiss me. Take me to bed and make this bad day go away.”

“Just tell me what you want me to do to you and I’ll do it,” he said, sliding his hands under my towel and wrapping his arms around my waist to bring me closer to him.

“You want me to talk dirty to you,” I teased, gripping his neck harder when his hand slid under my butt and was placed between my legs. A moan left my mouth when his middle finger glided his way from my entrance to my clit and came back again, before entering my wet core.

“I love how you get all ready for me when we touch,” he moaned in my ear before nibbling my earlobe.

Closing my eyes, I rested my left cheek against his torso, tensing and fantasying about him taking me fast and savagely against the wall as his fingers teased me further. “That’s because you always know how to touch me and where to touch me. It’s always so perfect, I get wet in anticipation,” I said, moving my hips against his hand. Sliding my hand to his crotch, I felt how hard he was. “Take off your pants and stop the torture.”

  “No foreplay, Vi?”

I raised my head to watch him as I replied, “Just staring at you and feeling your hard cock against my body is foreplay enough.”

He smirked and lowered his lips to mine. The kiss was tender and slow. I gasped when he removed his fingers, leaving an aching feeling of need behind. Taking me in his arms, bridal style, he walked to the bedroom and placed me on the bed. His lips never left mine as I tried to open his pants and his hands removed the towel and exposed my body to the chilling breeze entering from the window.

His jeans finally slid down his legs and he caught his breath so he could take off his sweatshirt and free his feet from the jeans. Climbing on the bed, he stared at me as if I were his prey. I watched him approach with hunger and expectation.

“You have no idea how difficult it is to go a whole day without being able to kiss, touch, and get inside you,” he said against my thighs, kissing and making the heat grow stronger.

“Hard, you mean,” I teased him, giggling with his kisses.

“Hard, extremely hard. But it’s not as if all I do is thinking about fucking you,” he argued, trailing kisses up my legs, prolonging them on my crotch and licking my belly button. “I just function better after and during,” he said, kissing my breasts and sucking my nipples.

My body arched in pleasure as I tried not to laugh. It was pointless. His lips on my body were enough excuse to keep my eyes shut and enjoy the pleasure. “So what are you going to do about it?” I asked, fisting my hands to the comforter.

“I’ll just fuck you until we can’t move from exhaustion,” he replied.

I opened my eyes and saw him pulling his boxers down and using his hand to place his cock against my entrance. He plunged in as I spread my legs to receive him. I moaned in pleasure as he moved against me.

“Faster,” I begged, moving my hips to meet his thrusts. I was so wet and he was so hard that I was being sent into a fast tailspin toward an orgasm.

“Damn it, Violet,” he grunted against one of my breasts, squeezing it in his hand and holding on to my hip. He kept thrusting his cock in and out of my pussy. “You are making it impossible for me to want to live without you.”

He plunged deep and made me arch my back, offering my breasts to his mouth and my entire body for him to take. I was quivering with multiple orgasms, gasping and inciting him to keep moving, keep making me come as I jerked and tightened him inside me. He released his own orgasm in waves of moans, thrusting, throbbing, and gasping for more.

For a moment, we stared at each other. I softly caressed his face and claimed a kiss from his gorgeous mouth. He hadn’t moved out of me and after a bit of soft rubbing, he was hard again.

My hips swayed, begging for more, and I memorized his face and the way his eyes glowed with love and lust. I noticed his expressi
on, taking pleasure in our movements. It was as if I was high on something and not missing anything. He was all that I wanted there with me. No yearning for anyone else. No imagining that it was Ewan instead. My mind was set on Galvin and only him.

“Where have you been all my life?” I asked him.

“Watching you suffer for someone else,” he replied.

I rolled my eyes only to gasp and close them when he thrust deeper and kissed me. He moved softly, sending waves of pleasure up and down my skin. I wanted to suck in air and hold my breath until I floated from my body and burst into flames. It was so good, that it scratched the edge of insanity and I was tensing in expectation for another sweet release.

Galvin’s lips brushed my earlobe. “I’m here now and I’ll stay forever if you let me.”

I grinned at his words as my eyes teared up with happiness. “You could have told me sooner,” I reasoned with him.

“I could have, but I was afraid that you wouldn’t want me.”

“So, you had to be jealous of him to make your move,” I gasped, finding impossible to keep talking.

He drowned his head in the crook of my neck and nibbled it hard. Plastering his body against mine, he flatted my breasts and ground our pelvis’s harder. I muffled a shriek with the nibbling and the deep push. Tension took over my body and fire blazed my skin. It was so good that I was afraid I would faint.

“I thought I was going to lose you for good,” he confessed, nibbling his way up to my face. “Tell me again how much you love me,” he requested with a husky voice and pleading eyes.

“I love you to the verge of insanity,” I told him.

Galvin smiled, making me happy. Closing my eyes, I focused on his movements and the tenderness of our lovemaking. I placed my legs around his waist, pulling him nearer to make him go deeper. My body was held hostage of his touch, and I had a turmoil of butterflies wanting to get free, caressing all my skin with their wings, and lifting me high in the sky to reach Nirvana.
