I breathed deep, fancying his words. I was teasing him, but his words were all I wanted to hear. “So, do you still want me to marry you?”

“Of course! If you want to.”

“I do,” I said sweetly, noticing his eyes sparkling with excitement as I became extremely emotional about the whole situation. I straightened my back and crossed my hands over my knees, coping with all the bubbling happiness that was blazing through my body. I could jump and hug him after I told him the good news.

“I don’t have the ring here,” he said as his eyes became blank. I smiled. It caught me off guard the fact that he had bought a ring. It was endearing. “Never mind.”

Snapping his fingers, he made a box appear in his hand. I giggled, amused by the use of magic to bring the ring to us. Then, he got up, circled the desk, and, soon enough, he was bent down on one knee. With trembling hands, he opened the box to show me an astounding solitaire emerald ring. I put my hands over my mouth, gasping at the sight of it. It was beautiful!

“It matches your eyes,” he claimed. I just nodded while tears were running down my eyes. He cupped my face with his bare hand and made me look straight in his eyes. “Violet, do you want…”

I stopped him from finishing the question, putting my hand over his lips. I wanted to speak first. “Before you say anything else, you need to know something.” He gazed at me clearly intrigued. I couldn’t hold on to it any longer. I had to tell him. “We are going to have a baby,” I shrieked with excitement.

“What?” His eyes widened and the box dropped from his hand and hit the floor. “How?”

“Well…we kind of had a lot of unprotected sex,” I reminded him.

“They said that there was a tiny possibility of happening the traditional way. That we needed to try in vitro.”

  “Well, it worked.”

Before I could say anything else, I was being held tight against his body and he was chuckling, clearly laughing with happiness. I wanted to laugh too. I was so content, that I wanted to giggle, jump, and dance. I was also happy that he was happy.

“Do you still want to marry me?” I asked timidly, feeling his hand rub my stomach.

“Of course! Mom and Dad are going to get married and love this kid with all their hearts.”

I hugged him, bliss taking me over with his words. I was glad that he was as excited as I was for having a baby.

“Are you happy?” he asked, raising his head to stare at my face. Tears were tainting my cheeks. The salt was burning my skin. He put his hands over my face. “Do you want this?”

“I have your baby inside of me. Of course, I want this. I couldn’t be happier,” I shared my thoughts with him, smiling and crying at the same time.

“I love you, Violet,” he said, voice laced with emotion as he kissed my cheeks and lips with tenderness. “Everything will be okay.”

“Galvin,” I breathed his name, quivering with his sweet kisses. “I’m really happy for this. I am,” I assured. “Even if you planned it all along.”

“I didn’t,” he guaranteed me. “I wanted kids, but I thought it would take longer for us to be parents.”

“I guess that we are compatible, then.”

“I guess, or maybe it’s a gift from the Goddess to bless our love.”

I grinned at his words. He was sweet like that and talked about faith and gods as if they had a saying in people’s lives.

I probed him, “What do you think it will be, a boy or a girl?”

“I don’t have any preferences. Whatever it will be, it will be magical, for sure.”

  “And loved,” I added.

“Extremely loved,” he agreed. “Like you’re loved. So, will you let me finish?”

“What?” I asked, oblivious to what he meant.

He leaned back and grabbed the box from the floor. “Do you want to marry me?” he asked. I nodded. “In words, I want to listen to you say yes.”

“Yes,” I gasped, watching him put the ring on my finger. Then I hugged him tight, making him chuckle with happiness. “I want to marry you and live with you and raise our baby with you.”

  “And love me?”

  “More than my own life.”

“Good! I love you more than my own life, too.”

“Do you want to tell the others?” I questioned, remembering how it would be a huge news.

“No. I want to hold you tight and wait until I stop shaking. Then we’ll get you checked at the clinic. I don’t want anything to happen to you or the baby.”

“And after that?” I asked, caressing his hair so he would calm down.

“We’ll run away for a couple of weeks and spend time together like we had planned. We deserve it, don’t we?”

“Yes,” I agreed, cupping his face and making him stare at me. He had shining blue eyes and I could spend an eternity staring at him. “I love you so much. I know I can be a selfish person sometimes. But I swear to you that I won’t do anything to harm our baby. My revenge is over. I don’t want to kill, hurt or chase anyone else. I just want to live in peace with you and our child.”

I thought I should reassure him because he was still unsure if I was going to keep pressuring him to interrogate Ewan and Anastasia again. I was over them, I had different priorities. There were other people in the Organization to continue Ewan and Anastasia’s interrogation and find out about the red-haired girl and Ewan’s master.

Galvin smiled at me, making me smile back. “Are you at peace in your mind?”

“I’m at peace in my mind and my heart. I’m going to focus myself on the present, and I’ll be grateful for all the pain I’ve experienced since it was what made me get here, to this precise and precious moment. My kidnapping, my love for Ewan, and Anastasia’s plan to kill me are what lead me to you.”

“I guess so.” He nodded in approval, caressing my cheek with his thumb. “I’m proud of you and I’m glad that you’re putting our baby first.”

“Then I think I deserve lots of kisses as a reward,” I teased.

“I couldn’t agree more,” he mumbled, bringing his mouth closer to mine and brushing my lips with his.

I brought him closer, wrapping my arms around his neck and taking possession of his breathtaking mouth. I was done talking, I wanted to kiss him and forget about the world outside. There was just me, him and our baby. I couldn’t be happier.
