Mel was stunned. “While I was under, at one point I was surrounded by a gold light,” she said. She noticed she still had difficulty hearing from her right ear, but the ringing was gone. I’ll take what healing I can get, she thought. She yawned.

Eli smiled. “I think we’ll end our session for today. You can talk about what transpired tomorrow if you wish. If not, that’s okay too. You are never obligated to tell me what occurs while you are under. I’m merely here to ensure you are in a safe space while you go internal.”

“Safe space?” Mel repeated. “Is that important?”

“It is. We’ll talk about that tomorrow too. Sound good?” Eli said.

“Yes,” Mel said as she yawned again. “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome,” Eli said. He packed up his items. They walked into the living room. It was empty.

Mel could hear voices outside shouting and laughing as everyone enjoyed the cool evening.

  “See you tomorrow,” Eli said.

“Bye,” Mel said. Wanting to be alone, she went upstairs to Viola’s room. Mel glanced at the bed. She jumped on it and climbed under the covers. She couldn’t believe she had forgotten what her mother did when she was a child. No wonder I had issues accepting my gifts, she thought.

While Mel could understand why her mother did what she did, it didn’t make it any easier. Her mother’s fears of witchcraft were imposed on Mel and had given her a complex.

It was no wonder admitting her attraction to Viola opened up her gifts. By coming to terms with her homosexuality, she was no longer able to suppress her abilities because the root issue for each one was the same. It wasn’t like being a lesbian would have been any more welcomed than witchcraft in a backwater Christian household. It was one of the reasons Mel was nervous about going home and telling her mom she was a lesbian.

Mel, you already told her, a little voice whispered.

Mel froze. She hadn’t come out and said she was a lesbian, but she told her mother that she wanted to see where things went with a woman. Mel held her breath. “Is it possible that she’ll be accepting?” she asked. “Does that mean at some point she’ll accept my gifts?” She felt lucky about her mother’s response regarding her sexual orientation. Mel had been so afraid. She thought her mother would react like some of her friends’ parents had.

Mel felt hot tears under her lids. One of her friends in high school had been kicked out of his house for being gay. Another friend had been forced to try conversion therapy. She had ended up killing herself. Mel dreaded the different scenarios that ran through her head.

There was a soft knock on the door. “Amor,” Viola said. She came in, but Mel didn’t peek out from under the covers. “Are you okay?”

“Ye- yeah,” Mel stuttered. Her voice shook as tears slid across her face and onto the bed sheets. “I’m f- fine.”

Viola sat on the bed. “Let me see you,” she said. She gently pulled down the covers. Her eyes were soft as she stroked Mel’s cheek. “Why do you cry?”

“Letting go, I guess,” Mel said. She told Viola everything that happened. By the end of it, Mel was tearing up again.

Viola laid down beside her and pulled her into a tight hug. “I’m sorry, amor, but I’m glad you found out so you can let it go. I wish I had been there,” she said.

“It’s okay,” Mel said. She buried her face into Viola’s neck and breathed in her scent. It soothed her.

Viola realized that Mel was lying on her injured shoulder. “Mel, you shouldn’t lay on your shoulder like that. It’ll take longer to heal,” she exclaimed.

“I think it’s already healed. I think it happened during my session with Eli,” Mel said.

“Really?” Viola asked. She immediately examined Mel’s shoulder. She was stunned to find how normal it felt and was amazed that Mel didn’t grimace once during the exam. “You don’t feel any pain?”

“No,” Mel said. “It’s weird my shoulder has healed, but I can still barely hear out of my right ear.” Saying it out loud made it more real, she teared up again. “I think it’ll be permanent.”

Viola cupped her face and covered her with kisses. “It’ll be okay, amor,” she said. “You’ll still make beautiful music.”

“I hope so,” she said. “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome,” she said as she kissed her forehead. She touched Mel’s right shoulder. “This is great. You can use your magic to work on me and help my body recover better.”

Mel was surprised at Viola’s response. “I thought you werewolves were fast healers,” she teased.

“Of course, but your healing hands could help me recover even faster. And you may be able to help with all of the scar tissue I’ve built up from training,” Viola said.

“I don’t know how I healed my shoulder and it may not work for every body part because it didn’t work for my hearing,” Mel admitted. “I’ll be happy to work on you once Eli and I figure out how my abilities work in that way.”

“We’ll know when you start working on me. You and Eli should put that on the top of your list,” she said. “You do want to help me, right?”

Mel was surprised by the question. “Yes,” she said.

“Good,” Viola said. “I’m your mate after all. And if you love me, you’ll help take care of me, right?”

“Right. Did you and Daren have fun?” Mel asked, wanting to change the subject.

Viola grinned. “Yes. And, hopefully, it was a successful trip,” she said.

  “Trip? Where?” Mel asked.

Viola rose and picked up something off the floor Mel hadn’t noticed earlier.

Mel gasped. “Is that-” She threw off the covers and rushed out of bed. She stood in front of Viola. “Who is it for?”

“You know who it’s for,” Viola teased. She gave the case to Mel. “Open it.”

Mel gingerly placed the case on the desk and opened it. The acoustic guitar was beautiful. It had a black body with red and yellow flowers decorating the bottom of it. The tuning keys and frets were silver. Mel lightly plucked each of the six strings. The satisfying hums from the instrument rang through the room. She couldn’t believe the thoughtfulness of the gift. “Why?” she asked.

“Daren told me about your guitar. I will never be able to replace a gift from your grandmother, but I hope a guitar from your mate is a close second,” Viola said.

Mel threw her arms around Viola. “It’s perfect,” she said. “Thank you.” Mel impulsively kissed her. Mel froze and shyly pulled away. “Sorry about that.”

“About what?” Viola said. She cupped her face. “You can kiss me whenever you want.” Viola kissed Mel. “See?”

“Mmm-hmm,” Mel agreed. She was disappointed that Viola had stopped kissing her. She quickly realized Viola was waiting for Mel to make the next move.

  Chapter 11

Mel leaned in and kissed Viola again. She loved how soft Viola’s lips were. Viola’s tongue licked Mel’s bottom lip. Mel parted her lips. She sighed as Viola rubbed her tongue against Mel’s.

The kisses weren’t just physically arousing. The kisses were intense because of the way they joined Mel’s and Viola’s souls. It was as though their physical and energetic beings were inter-connected.

Mel was overwhelmed by the passion of their kisses. She craved more.

Viola sensed Mel’s increasing desire. Her hands purposefully moved down Mel’s body. She firmly rubbed her hips as she lightly bit Mel’s lip.

  Their kisses increased in intensity.

Viola guided Mel to the bed as they continued kissing. She gently urged Mel to lay down. Viola smoothly moved so she lied on top of Mel.

Mel’s hands stroked Viola’s back. She admired the contour of Viola’s muscles. Viola lightly pulled Mel’s hair, creating a tingling sensation in Mel’s scalp. Mel’s desire soared from the sensation.

Viola moved for a moment to look at Mel. Both of their lips were swollen and red. Viola caressed Mel’s face. Mel felt lost in Viola’s eyes. Both of t
heir eyes were dilated from passion.

Viola leaned in and kissed Mel again. Mel sighed in pleasure. Her hips unconsciously moved against Viola’s, creating a sweet friction.

Mel was amazed by how well they moved together. Mel was surprised by how natural it felt to be with Viola. They fit so well together.

Viola slowly kissed her way down Mel’s face and lightly bit Mel’s neck as her fingers grazed the bottom of Mel’s shirt. Viola slowly pulled Mel’s shirt up. Viola paused. Mel lifted her body by arching her low back so Viola could easily remove her shirt.

Viola continued kissing her way down Mel’s neck and across her chest. Viola unfastened Mel’s bra. Viola paused for a moment to enjoy the sight of Mel’s breasts.

Mel coyly smiled. She loved the way Viola looked at her. Viola looked at her as though nothing else existed in the world but Mel. Viola’s energy was intense as she caressed Mel’s breasts. They were the perfect size for her hands.

Mel basked in the sensation of Viola worshiping her breasts. She felt as though Viola was touching and caressing her heart as much as her bosom. Mel quivered from ecstasy.

The roughness of Viola’s hand on Mel’s nipple caused Mel to gasp. Viola grinned. “How are you doing?” she asked.

  “Wonderful,” Mel said happily.

“Good,” Viola said. She leaned in and caressed Mel’s breasts with her lips and tongue.

Mel wantonly arched her back to give Viola’s mouth better access. Mel’s heart was racing. She savored the feelings. She wanted more.

From Mel’s breasts, Viola licked and kissed and nibbled her way across Mel’s body. One of her hands trailed down Mel’s abdomen and dipped below Mel’s waistband.

Mel gasped. Mel looked at the top of Viola’s head and realized where Viola was. Mel suddenly felt extremely shy.

Viola immediately noticed the change in Mel’s disposition and lifted her head up. “What is it?” she asked.

“I-” Mel blushed. She didn’t know how to voice her insecurities. “I’m shy about . . . you know . . .” Mel gestured towards her lower region. “My hoohoo.”

Viola smiled. Her eyes twinkled. “Your hoohoo?” she repeated. “I like that.” She kissed beside Mel’s bellybutton “No need to be shy. We will only go as far and as fast as you want, when you want. Okay?” She moved up so she laid beside Mel. Viola brought her hand up and rubbed the bottom of Mel’s lip with her thumb. Viola gave her a soft kiss.

“Okay,” Mel said, relieved. She eagerly kissed Viola back. They continued kissing as their hips rubbed together. The friction caused a sweet need in Mel she had never known before. She wanted more contact from Viola. Mel gingerly took Viola’s hand and placed it on her hip.

Viola took the subtle hint. Her hand trailed across Mel’s lower abdomen and under Mel’s waistband. Viola waited for a moment before her hand slid under Mel’s panties.

Viola savored how aroused Mel was. She reveled in the affect she had over her mate. “Te amo mi amor,” she said.

Mel panted and moaned. She had never felt like this before. Within moments, Mel was trembling under Viola’s immaculate touch. Mel’s hands wandered across Viola’s back.

Viola’s fingers moved and Mel lost focus. Mel gripped Viola’s strong arms. Mel moaned as their lips caressed each other. Mel’s hips rhythmically moved to Viola’s tempo. Pressure built up within Mel.

Mel climaxed. The world around her faded away and pleasure overwhelmed every cell of her being. Her energy intertwined with Viola’s. Mel felt that they became one as Viola enjoyed the sight of Mel’s release.

Mel felt fully satisfied as her body seemed to sink into the bed.

Their kisses were gentler. Mel savored the tender touches which made their connection strong. Viola pulled Mel into her arms. Mel’s heart slowed down as they cuddled. Mel felt so much joy and love from Viola that she felt eternal bliss. Mel couldn’t begin to describe everything she felt lying there with Viola. Mel was grateful to God that being with her soulmate felt so natural and so right. How could love like this ever be viewed as wrong? she thought.

Mel could sense Viola’s arousal. She caressed Viola’s body. She felt nervous and lost. She wasn’t sure of what to do.

Viola took Mel’s hands and kissed them. “It’s okay,” she said.

Mel was upset. “But, what about you? I can’t leave you like this,” she said.

Viola smiled. “We have all of our lives together. Do not worry. We will take it slow. It makes it all the sweeter,” she said. Mel didn’t like that answer. “If it makes you feel so bad, then just think that you can make it up to me once you are more comfortable with us being intimate.”

“Okay,” Mel said. She would definitely do her best to make it up to Viola.

Viola gave her another kiss. “Let’s shower and get ready for bed, okay?”

Mel was nervous about Viola seeing her fully naked. “Together?” Mel asked.

Viola was surprised. She hadn’t meant it that way. “Only if and when you’re ready,” she said. “You are welcome to shower first.”

Mel bit her lip. She didn’t know what to do.

“Mel,” Viola said. “Stop pressuring yourself. Just go with the flow, okay?”

“Okay,” Mel said. “I’m trying to figure out the flow.”

Viola laughed. She kissed her forehead. “My bebecita!” She got up and rummaged through her drawers. “We’ll need to get you clothes at some point,” she said. She gave Mel pajamas. “Take a shower, amor. I’ll take one after you, okay?”

“Okay,” Mel said. She went to the bathroom and sighed. Viola was right. Mel was putting more pressure on herself than she needed to. Why? she thought. Why am I putting pressure on myself?

Because I’m afraid if I don’t grab hold of this relationship now, it’ll disappear, Mel thought. She never had an intense relationship like this before. She was afraid if she didn’t let it run wild and envelop her, it would burn out. This isn’t a temporary relationship, she chided herself.

How can I be sure? a part of Mel thought. At any moment, Viola could lose interest. She could disappear and I would never find this kind of relationship again. The thought frightened Mel. Look at the difference between Jesse and Viola. Jesse still follows Viola around while Viola has no interest. I don’t know if Jesse felt the same way I do.

She frowned. I’m nothing like Jesse, she thought.

Mel pushed her insecurities aside as she got ready for bed. She went back to the bedroom. Viola gave her a quick kiss before going to the bathroom.

Mel grabbed the guitar. She tuned it before strumming a few cords. The cords turned into a melody. It was chipper and playful. Mel looked at the guitar with surprise. She couldn’t believe how easily the music flowed out of her.

Mel grabbed a piece of paper and a pen and quickly wrote down the cords. She played the cords again. She was in awe that her fingers moved of their own accord. It was as if her soul knew how the song went. The experience was freeing. She felt she was finally expressing the music within her.

Within minutes, Mel was looking at a complete new melody. The melody just needed the words and a few chords to fill it with more.

Mel realized Viola was patiently waiting outside. Viola didn’t want to interrupt Mel’s moment.

“You can come in,” Mel said.

Viola entered. She was delighted to see Mel sitting with her guitar. “How does it play?” she asked.

“Great,” Mel said. “Thank you so much for this. It means so much to me.”

Viola rummaged through the desk drawers. She pulled out a thick blank notebook. “You can use this if you’d like. I’m sure it’d be easier to keep all of your music together this way,” she said.

“Perfect,” Mel said. “Thank you again!”

“Anything for you,” Viola said. She kissed Mel.

“What can I do to thank you?” Mel asked.

“Play a song for me,” Viola said.

  Mel blushed. “Now?”

  “Yes,” Vi
ola said. She sat on the bed. “Let’s hear it.”

“Can it be any song?” Mel asked.

  “Sure,” Viola said.

Mel checked that her guitar was still tuned. She wasn’t sure what to play. When she looked at Viola, Mel was inspired. She played Van Morrison “Brown Eyed Girl.”

At first, Viola wasn’t familiar with the song. When Mel sang; “You my brown eyed girl,” Viola smiled.

Mel finished and Viola applauded. “I like that song,” she said. “You have a great voice.”

“Thank you,” Mel said. “I enjoy music. I find it inspirational and freeing. It’s where I feel like I actually have a voice and I can be myself.”

“I feel that way with training,” Viola said. “We are very blessed to have found hobbies and professions that allow us to feel that way. It is something we are able to be passionate about. Passion is what keeps life interesting.”

“Passion?” Mel repeated. She felt like that was the best way to describe Viola as well as their relationship.

“Yes, not to be confused with lust,” Viola clarified. “Lust is specific towards a strong sexual desire. Passion is a strong, almost uncontrollable emotion. It can be applied to any area. For me, I am passionate about training. I read books and watch videos on different martial arts and exercises. I learn as much as I can about how to push the body’s limits in a safe way. It seems that your passion is music.”

“It is. I want to write songs that empower people. I want to inspire and create a positive atmosphere for people. I want them to know they aren’t alone. I want them to know they have people who love and believe in them, no matter how alike or different they are from me. Those moments they’re listening to my songs may be the only moments of their day they can escape the negativity in their lives,” Mel said. “I feel music should always build people up. It should encourage them to always rise up to be better. It should make them feel like they are part of something beautiful and wonderful.” She smiled. “And it always helps if it’s a song they can dance to.”

Viola loved Mel’s stance. “That is an admirable goal. I hope you are able to achieve your dreams in our pack,” she said. “Between your songs and working at the gym with me, you have so much to offer the pack.”
