She blocked the sun with her hand as she spoke, “I think I’d just like to lay here enjoying the sun, the river and you.”
He smiled, scooted closer to her and softly stroked her cheek with his index finger. She closed her eyes melting into the warmth of his touch. His lips cover her mouth and she was lost in his essence, her passion rising to match his. He explored her mouth with his tongue and she reciprocated… the fireworks from the night before, replaying in her head.
They kissed deeper, the heat rising between them. She felt weak with desire. Ronnie unbuttoned her shorts and slipped them off surprised to see she wasn’t wearing panties. He knew she wanted what he wanted.
He ran his fingers along the inside of her thigh, savoring the beauty of her tan legs. Her thighs involuntarily spread, allowing him more access and he dipped into her wetness. Bringing his lubricated finger out, he found her sweet spot and slowly slid it gently back and forth across her pearl.
She moaned, “Oh Ronnie.”
“You like that?” he whispered, taking his lips away from her mouth and looking into her eyes.
“Yes Ronnie, don’t stop.”
He continued gliding his finger over her, inserting his thumb inside, lifting her higher into the stratosphere.
Kissing her passionately, he increased the rhythm with his hand, unzipped his shorts with his other and slid out of them. He pulled her tee shirt over her head, exposing her bra-less breasts. Rubbing her nipple into a tight peak, he continued kissing her and working her wetness. She felt herself letting go, all the glorious sensations together made her explode inside. She shivered against his hand with the intensity of her orgasm.
She groaned again as Ronnie took her nipple into his mouth and sucked hard. He worked it back and forth with his tongue, biting gently, sending pleasure and pain simultaneously. He fondled her other breast… pushing his hardness into her leg, his hips moving gently back and forth. She wanted him inside of her in a bad way. She reached down to his stiffness and stroked him, sliding her hand up and down his shaft. She heard a low growl come from the back of his throat.
She worked him faster, until he almost came, then she backed off, teasing him with slow stretching strokes. She pulled away from his kisses, got on top of him and licked his chest, gliding her tongue down to his waist in little lapping circles. Reaching his erection, she swirled her tongue over the tip of the head. Licking up and down the shaft, she pulled him into her mouth, continuing to use her tongue, bringing him to the brink of his climax again, then backing off.
“Ooh, Maddie,” he hissed, “I don’t want to come yet. I want to be inside you.”
She pulled her mouth away from his throbbing member and noticed the little Sagittarian archer on the tip of the head. In the back of her blissed out mind, she remembered him telling her about his other Sagittarius tattoo… she’d found it.
He gently rolled her over and got on top of her, spreading her thighs wide and exposing all of her naked beauty. Holding himself, he rolled a condom over his erection and slid into her, filling her slowly with a sweet delicious fullness, which sent her swirling outside of the universe. She was dancing with the stars again.
Chapter Eight
Maddie woke up beside Ronnie. They had enjoyed their picnic after making love and had fallen asleep holding each other. Dew was gathering on the boat as the sun peeked over the horizon, ready to disappear for the day. Cold was setting in from the wetness, as night approached. She watched him as he slept, brown curls outlining his handsome face. She didn’t want it to end and wished they could be together like this forever. She’d never been in love before, but had become extremely attached to him in the past couple of days. She wondered about a future with him, but pushed the thought out of her mind. It seemed Impossible. She lived in Bend, while his life was in Kennewick. A summer fling was the best this romance could aspire to, but she knew she wanted more, even at this early stage of the game.
As her thoughts continued into the future, Ronnie woke up.
“Oh, damn!” he said, as he saw the light fading and night approaching, “We’ve got to hightail it back to the dock or we could get lost out here!”
Not realizing the urgency of the situation Maddie got up, brushed herself off and pulled her clothes on. Ronnie did the same. He grabbed the cooler as she folded the blanket and towels and they hurried back to the raft.
On the boat, Ronnie found a sweatshirt for Maddie to wear. He started up the engine and they headed down the river towards home.
As the boat pulled up to the dock, they saw BB running toward them from the house. She began shouting, “Where the hell have you two been?” she was panicking, “Laura’s fallen off her horse and we’ve been looking all over for you. She’s at the hospital and she’s asking for you, Maddie. You’ve got to get over there, now! We’ll drive you!”
Maddie looked at Ronnie and said, “I’ve got to go, I’ll catch up with you later, okay?”
His brow furrowed and he nodded, “Go!”
Maddie went flying back up to the house with BB, tripping over her sandals as she went.
“Get in the car,” BB screamed, as they reached the driveway.
Uncle Don was in the driver’s seat with the engine going, ready to take off.
Arriving in record time, he pulled up in front of the hospital. BB and Maddie jumped out and headed for the front doors. They arrived at the admissions desk out of breath, “Which room is Laura Lang in?” Maddie gasped.
The nurse seemed to take forever trying to find the information for them, “Oh, yes… the gal who was thrown from her horse. She’s going to be fine. Hmm, let me see now.”
She ran her index finger up and down a chart in front of her on the desk, then finally looked up, “Room 225,” she pointed, “Just go down that hall and turn right… you’ll see it. Visiting hours end in 20 minutes.”
BB and Maddie went half running, half walking down the hall and found the room. Upon entering, they found Laura in a huge hospital bed with the rails pulled up and a white cast on her leg from her ankle to her crotch. It was suspended in the air, with some kind of a lift. Her head was bound with gauze and one eye was badly bruised. She looked up and tried to smile when she saw them.
“Hey gals, guess I ain't the cowgirl I used to be,” she said weakly as her face contorting into a pathetic grin… she grimaced. Maddie could tell she was in a lot of pain.
“Hey girlfriend,” Maddie spoke softly, “Don’t try to talk too much, looks like you need to take it easy.”
“Yeah,” Laura mumbled, “Blackie saw one of those huge rattlers we get up here and spooked. He reared up and I couldn’t hold on,” she coughed and winced again.
Rolling her head to the side, drool escaped from her mouth. Maddie got a Kleenex and patted her face dry.
“Take it easy girl… they said you’ll be alright. You just need to rest.”
Maddie was concerned for Laura. She’d never seen her friend so vulnerable before and her heart ached for her. They were supposed to hook up, so Maddie could share the juicy details of her day and the previous evening with Ronnie. They’d planned a night of drinking and partying, just the two of them, but it looked like they’d have to postpone it for now. Laura was lying in a hospital bed badly hurt. She wondered if they could spend any quality time together now. She made a plan to come back the following day and reveal the intimacies between her and Ronnie. She would just have to spend less time with him and focus on being with Laura with the vacation time she had left. Or… maybe she could stay longer this year. She rolled a few ideas around in her head to see what might fit. One step at a time, she thought.
Maddie said her goodbyes to Laura with a promise to return the following day with all the lurid details of her sexcapades with Ronnie. Laura gave her a wink and closed her eyes.
As they exited the hospital, Uncle Don was waiting in front and they got in the car, Maddie in the back seat and BB in the front, next to Don.
“Well, how’s she doing?” he ask
ed as they headed home.
“She’s pretty beat up, but she’ll recover. She just needs time,” Maddie told her uncle leaning forward in her seat.
“I’m thinking if she doesn’t get better in the next week, I might stay longer. Would that be cool with you guys?” she looked from BB to Don and waited for an answer.
“That would be fine honey. You stay as long as you like. We’re always happy to have you here with us,” BB looked over at Don and he nodded his approval.
Well, that was settled. She would stay and help lift Laura’s spirits and maybe get some more time with Ronnie.
Chapter Nine
Maddie spent the next two weeks juggling her time between Laura and Ronnie. She and Ronnie went out a few more times and ended their dates making love, but her mind was mostly on Laura and her needs. It was hard to focus on her relationship with him right now. She was developing stronger feelings for him and had thoughts of returning to see him again before the following summer, entertaining a midyear visit, but that would have to wait for now. She had to go back to school in the fall and was still one year away from graduating.
Maddie continued visiting Laura in the hospital. Finally she was well enough to go home and they had their slumber party at Laura’s apartment. Maddie shared her feelings for Ronnie and also her fears. She told her more about their love making and how wonderful he was, yet how it lacked a little something. Laura listening excitedly. She loved hearing about Maddie’s rendezvous with him and was glad that she had finally found someone she could possibly get serious about. But Maddie told her that maybe Ronnie was too tame for her now. That their sex was becoming routine even in this short amount of time. She wasn’t as excited by him as she had been, but she thought maybe her mind just wasn’t there since Laura’s accident. She didn’t know. Laura asked her if she had ever tried anything kinky before.
“Have you ever done anything out of the ordinary with a lover before, Maddie?”
Maddie thought about the question for a minute, “What do you mean, like what?”
Laura continued, “Oh you know, like bondage, sex slave, handcuffs, toys, that kind of stuff.”
Maddie flushed and laughed, embarrassed by the question, “Hell no! Have you?” she continued to laugh nervously.
Laura went on, “I’ve seriously thought about it, but just never had a willing partner. Both people have to be into it you know.”
“No, I didn’t know, but I would image that to be true. I’ll have to think about it and do some research. I’m not even sure how that works, really.”
Maddie dismissed the idea. She was scheduled to leave town the next day, but wanted to make sure Laura could manage alone.
“So, Laura, are you okay now? I mean, can you get around with that cast on your leg or do you think I should push it another week and stay here to help you?”
Laura pondered the question for a minute from her perch on the couch and rubbed her cast up and down, stretching her hand from her foot to her knee, admiring the names and drawings left by friends and well wishers. She was glad to be in a shorter cast, it made it easier for her to get around.
“I’m fine… I think. I can probably get my mom to give me a ride to and from work every day and do my grocery shopping for me. I should be okay until I get this friggin’ thing off,” she laughed, sadly looking down at her cast and twisting her face into a frown.
“I certainly won’t be riding my horse anytime soon, that’s for sure! I just hope that I’m good to go in a few months. I do have my friend Tammy to take care of Blackie, until I’m well enough to clean his barn and brush him again. I should be fine.”
Laura turned her gaze wistfully out the window as she fondly spoke of Blackie and his care. One thing Maddie knew about Laura was that she adored that horse more than any man she’d ever met. She wondered if she would ever find anyone to hold her interest and steal her heart. Laura didn’t talk much about her romantic endeavors. It always seemed like she was holding something back… like she wasn’t sharing everything, but Maddie just brushed the thought away and continued, “Okay, so you’re good to go, that’s a relief! I guess I’ll pack tonight and head out in the morning.”
“Sounds good, Maddie,” Laura said, as she turned her attention back to her friend.
Maddie got up from her chair, gave Laura a huge hug, gathered her jacket, put her purse over her shoulder and headed toward the door.
She turned back to Laura, “I’ll call you tomorrow before I take off, okay?”
“Okay,” Laura nodded and out the door Maddie went into the cool night.
She started the engine of her SUV and took off toward the house, lost in her thoughts. There was a lot of getting ready to do, before she left and she wanted to spend a little time with BB and Uncle Don on her last night. It was only nine and a nightcap would do her some good. She took note that she drank more when she visited them, but hell, she was on vacation! She was allowed.
It had been an emotionally difficult two weeks trying to console Laura and not seeing Ronnie as much as she had wanted to. He was disappointed that Maddie was spending so much time with her, but he understood. He just didn’t like it and Maddie felt pressured. She didn’t want to disappoint him, but Laura was her first priority. They’d been best friends for most of their lives and Maddie knew that Laura would be there for her if the shoe was on the other foot. She still wondered if Ronnie would want to see her again after all of this.
As she turned a corner, something hit her car with a huge bang. Maddie grabbed the wheel and swerved to keep the vehicle from going into the agricultural ditch on the side of the road. As she came to an abrupt stop, the airbag burst out of the steering wheel and smacked her in the face cutting her lip. She was stunned for a minute and hoped she hadn’t killed whatever she hit. Jumping out of the car, she looked around in the ditch with what little sunlight was left, but didn’t see anything. Her heart was already hurting for the small critter.
When she got back into the car it wouldn’t start. She continued to twist the key in the ignition, but the engine wouldn’t turn over.
“Oh, great!” she shouted out loud, “Here I am out in the middle of nowhere and it’s almost dark!”
She banged her fists on the steering wheel and wondered if she could get any bands on her cell. She was tweaked… just one more thing to worry about. Damn! She thought, as she pulled her cell out of her glove compartment and dialed BB… the machine picked up so she left a message. Then she punched in the numbers to Ronnie’s cell.
“Hello?”
“Ronnie, its Maddie. I just hit something on my way home from Laura’s’ and my car won’t start. Can you come and get me?”
“Maddie, where are you?”
She was relieved to hear his voice, “I’m out on East Badger, about four miles from my aunt’s. My lights are on so if you’re heading west, you’ll be able to see me.”
“Ok, I’m on my way; I should be there in about twenty minutes.”
Maddie sat in the car with the windows rolled up until Ronnie got there. It was getting darker and she was a little spooked. Even though Kennewick was a small rural town, she knew crazies could be out there anywhere.
It wasn’t long before Ronnie’s truck rolled up beside her. She was glad to see him; it gave her a feeling of comfort and safety.
“Hey!” he shouted out his window grinning from ear to ear, his chiseled jaw highlighted in the moonlight as he drove up and parked. He got out of his truck and went over to her driver’s side, “Scoot over Maddie, let me see if I can get her started.”
Maddie did as he asked and Ronnie settled into the seat beside her and cranked the key. The battery seemed fine, as the lights worked, but the engine just wouldn’t turn over. He got out, lifted the hood and fooled around with something. Maddie could see his hands going from one part of the engine to another through the opening in the hood. But nothing he did seemed to work.
“Maddie!” he yelled, with his head still under the hood, “We’re g
onna have to get a tow back into town. I know a garage they can take it to and leave it overnight. They’re gonna have to look at it tomorrow.”
He slammed the hood shut and helped her out of her car, “Come on, I’ll take you home.”
He pulled his cell out as he guided her to his truck and Maddie could hear him making arrangements for the tow. She climbed in beside him and he turned on the radio. The smooth sound of soft jazz came oozing out of the dash setting a romantic tone.
“So, you in the mood to go down to the river and watch the moon and the stars for a little while?” he asked, turning to her before heading down the road, “I don’t think you’re gonna be leaving tomorrow like you planned.”
“Yeah, I think you’re right. Okay, what the heck. I just don’t want to be out too late and worry Aunt BB.”
