Summer's Alpha

Page 6

by K. S. Martin

“Of course, you know I am always interested in an alliance.” He was back to the pack leader part of his personality. There was no emotion and all alpha in his voice.

“Well, I’m offering you one. My pack needs fresh new blood. This pack has many older members and we are interested in rebuilding our ranks with younger members that will be raising pups. I would like Autumn and Tim to come here with your blessing if they want as a gesture of your good faith.”

“Fine and as a gesture of yours, I want you to send Kelly home.” That was the voice he used when dealing with sales representatives.

“No. Kelly stays. There is a very strong and responsible wolf here already courting her. His name is Earl. He is completely smitten with Kelly and Kelly with him.”

“Summer, he will kill the pup, it belongs to an alpha. I want her here where she will be taken care of.”

“She will be taken care of dad. Jackson and I will make sure of it. We will do a better job than you did. Keep in mind that her alpha mate killed his own pups. You sent her with him for an alliance dad. You are just as responsible for their deaths as Frank.” I shouldn’t have said that. He will hold it against me.

“This is non-negotiable Summer.” He snarled.

“You’re absolutely right dad it is. Kelly goes where she wants. If she wants to stay, she has the full support of this pack. If she wants to live with you then we will support that too but Dad, it’s her decision. We have already made her a member. If you are going to try to bully us through your promise of alliance, there will be no alliance.”

“Let me talk to your alpha.” His voice was dead calm. He was going to try to bully Jackson now. Wait, he just insulted the female alpha of the East View pack. I’m not sure I like that. He is my dad though. If I were anyone else, he would treat me as an equal.

“Please hold.” I say professionally. I pushed the hold button and set the phone down. My hands shook. “Jackson?” He looked up from the couch, his eyes alight. “Dad wants to talk to you. He wants Kelly to come home.”

“What did you tell him?” Jackson was coming toward me, jeez could he be any sexier. Total predator. I repeated the conversation word for word and he picked up the phone.

“Brant, it is Jackson Reynolds, current alpha of the East View Pack. Summer, the female alpha, has offered you an alliance. Take it or don’t. If Tim and Autumn want to come, they are welcome. If Kelly wants to go home to you, she’s more than welcome but if not, she will stay here. Under no circumstances will she return to Frank’s pack because they are not going to get the opportunity to take her pup away from her. She’s given enough. Now understand this Brant, a beta is courting her and he is the sheriff here. He is strong, able and he will treat her very well. I have it on good advice that he is a great wolf. I don’t think that she will want to leave and I will not make her. That’s our offer Brandt, take it, or leave it.” Jackson hung up the phone gently and my eyes nearly leapt out of my head. He shrugged and went back to Larry. The phone rang and Shirley answered it.

“East View Book Nook, can I help you?” She sipped her tea. “Yes sir, on Third Street and Elm.” Shirley sipped again. ‘You’re very welcome sir.” She hung up the phone. “You father is on his way.” She sipped again. I stood there staring at her with my mouth hanging open. “Don’t worry dear. Earl is not going to let Kelly go anywhere.” Shirley grinned at me over her teacup. Her eyes twinkled with mischief. I grinned back. She relaxed me so easily.

“You don’t understand how convincing he can be. Kelly will cave.”

“Oh I think I know. Remember I was mated to Mark.” Shirley hopped off the stool and went for more tea. I looked at Jackson.

“It’ll be okay Summer. Don’t worry.” He said that but I knew better. Jackson was just as afraid of him as I was. He’d better get over that and get his alpha on if Dad is coming here. Larry stood up and took a set of keys from Jackson. I furrowed my eyebrows at him. “Larry and Benny are going to go get my truck. You and I are moving into the alpha house after work.” Shirley was coming back with another cup of tea.

“You guys don’t have to wait if you don’t want to. Go pack your clothes and take an early weekend Summer. Get settled. When your dad shows up, I will handle him, and like Jackson said, don’t worry.” I nod and head up the stairs to my apartment. Within minutes, Jackson is locking the door.

“God, I didn’t think that I could wait another minute.” I look up from the clothes that I am folding. This will be an easy move, we only have our clothes, and everything else belongs to Shirley. His eyes glow the color of desire and I gasp. He shoves the clothes off onto the floor and throws me down. I squeal. Jackson is pulling his clothes off. “I want you Summer.” I nibble my lip and pull my tee shirt over my head. Someone knocks on the door to the store.

“Summer, your sister Autumn is on the phone downstairs.” Shirley calls through the door.

“Shit.” Jackson hisses. I pull my shirt back on and hurry down the stairs.

“What happened?” Autumn asked as soon as I said ‘hello.’ “Daddy just tore out of her in the truck like it was a green flag race.” She giggled.

“I don’t know how much you heard but here’s the deal. Kelly killed Frank.”

“No shit?” Autumn gasped. “Way to go Sissy.”

“With a letter opener, can you believe that? Kelly? Anyway, Jackson and me are the alphas here now in East View. We want you and Tim to come here, Jackson will give him a beta spot. This pack needs new members and they want mated pairs if possible. No pressure, but if you want to get away from Dad…”

“I’ll talk to Tim. Can Sherry and Ashley come? They aren’t mated but what better way to attract new male members if not with available of age females?” She had a point. “Also, a couple of the guys have been talking about breaking out so I might have some guys too.” Why didn’t I think of this before? Autumn is shallow sure, she is plastic girl, but she is nothing if not a social butterfly. She is the werewolf answer to social networking on the internet. Autumn knows everyone in our pack and the two bordering allied packs.

“Of course Autumn, did you know that you are brilliant sometimes?”

“I have my moments don’t I? You can buy me a present when we get there. Do you have housing for us?” I grimace. Damned if I know.

“Hang on a sec?” I walk over to Shirley at the other end of the counter, where she’s doing the books. “Shirley, do we have housing for a lot of people? My sister has an entourage.” I can hear Autumn laughing on the other end of the line.

“Absolutely, like I told you nearly everyone has left for greener pastures. I think there are nineteen empty houses, some will need work, but she and her friends can have their pick. You are going to love my house Summer.” That’s right. I am moving into the alpha house, Shirley’s old house. My brows knit.

“Where do you live now Shirley?” She smiles brightly.

“When I collected Mark’s life insurance, I bought a condo uptown.” I nodded.

“Good for you.” I smile back at her and put the phone to my ear. “Did you get all of that?”

“Yup. I texted Tim and we are excited. We will pack up and be on our way in the morning. I’m rounding the troops now, it may be a caravan.”

“Cool. See you Sissy.” She disconnected and I sighed. My family was coming. “I’m going upstairs to pack. Will you come by over the weekend and show me around the house and everything?” Shirley grinned and nodded.

The duffle bag and backpack were by the back door and the closet stood empty. I didn’t hear him but went to the bedroom. Jackson was lying on the bed in his underwear waiting for me. His hand was casually resting on his swollen shaft. I gasped. “Jackson.” My hands flew up to cover my beet red face. His mouth spread into a slow lazy smile. I don’t know why I reacted that way but it embarrassed me. The way he was laying there waiting was so…provocative and arousing.

“Get undressed.” His eyes flashed and I quickly followed his command. He watched, his eyes
pulsing steady amber. “Come here.” He stripped his briefs off and tossed them. I wet my lips. I want him. So much. I can’t believe that I’m naked and crawling toward a naked Jackson. We’ve been naked plenty of times, we skinny-dipped a few weeks ago, but I’ve never crawled across a bed toward him with sex on my mind. “Come here. Straddle me.” I nod and do as he asks. I sink onto him and it is the best feeling in the world. I go slowly because he’s big, I don’t know if it’s possible but he seems bigger than before. “You feel good.”

“You too.” I say but my voice is all breathy and I’m still a little embarrassed. Jackson is holding my hips guiding them how he wants me to move. My bones have gone rubbery and I’m having trouble keeping my balance. He flips me onto my back and I pant. My heart is pounding so hard that it’s hard to breathe. I feel like I’ve been running. Everything in me feels like it’s on fire. Everything is tingling and clenching. My middle feels as heavy as my breasts. His tongue is working one of my nipples into a diamond point and I feel like I’m going to climax any second but I can’t quite find it. I reach around to squeeze his well-muscled rear end and to pull him closer. He growls against my other breast. It didn’t sound like an angry growl, no more than the steady rumble. I think he’s trying to wait me out. It’s as if he’s trying to detain his own climax. I’m not ready yet, it feels too good to stop already. I want more.

“Come on Summer, give it to me.” He growls. I was right. “Stop thinking and come.” He knows me too well. I wrap my legs around him high on his back. His teeth scrape across my nipple, shit! The keening wailing cry that escapes me is like nothing I’ve ever heard come out of me. I’m surprised and I laugh as I detonate around him. Jackson roars his release and buries his face in my neck. He doesn’t move but sinks into me slowly now, my channel is still throbbing and clenching, milking him. He was right, the more we do this, the better at it we get. A year from now, sex is going to be epic. He’s mouthing his bite and it’s turning me on again. All the muscles in my center clench. “Oh God.” His hips start to move and he mouths the bite, nipping at it, licking it. I roll him onto his back. I can’t believe he’s let me. My hips are moving of their own accord now. I am no longer in control of this, I need him again, and I am going to take what I need from him. He doesn’t seem to mind it either. I’m twisting and writhing against him, slamming down onto him. He has swelled again and has filled me so much so that he’s lighting every nerve up inside of me. My womb is heavy and throbbing, climax won’t be far off. I lean over to flick his small brown nipples with my tongue. He bucks up into me and it feels so incredible that the orgasm tears through me. My body seizes then shakes with it. Fire roars through my veins and tingles over my skin. I tremble against him and he shoves me back so that he is deeply inside me as he comes. “Fuck Summer.” He whispers and I smile down at him. He’s so sexy when his eyes dilate with climax. I lift off and roll over beside him to rest my head on his chest. I listen to his heart slow to the steady thump that I love so much to hear.

  Chapter 8

I have unpacked our clothes in the master bedroom. Ours had to be the fastest move in history. This place is huge. It is a nice house and better than I expected. The house is set off in wings. The main part of the house in the center where the kitchen and living room are located has four bedrooms. There is a wing to the left of the main living area and it has four more very large bedrooms. I think they are guest quarters. The wing to the right of the main is a very large meeting area. This house has to be a hundred years old or more. I’ve heard of packs living all in the same house and maybe that’s what went on here. I decide to ask Shirley. If this was her house, she should know its history. There’s a porch all the way across the front. It has rocking chairs strewn about and it has a roof over it. The center portion of the house is made of huge logs, but the wings are stone in the front. I haven’t walked all the way around yet. I thought we would do it together but Jackson is off exploring the community and greeting his pack members while I unpack. I grab a broom and start sweeping the porch. The fall leaves are gathering. I’m going to rearrange the furniture out here too. “Hi there.” An older man says coming to the bottom of the steps. “We met at the meeting. I’m Gregory.” He sticks out his hand and I shake it. I remember him. He seemed nice at the meeting. “Is the alpha around?” I smile. I wonder how old he is. He looks about sixty by human standards, which puts him nearing one hundred in wolf years. His hair is gray, his skin is weathered, and his back is rounded. He seems proud though in his red checked flannel and blue work pants.

“He’s out and about somewhere. He was going to check out the empty houses and see who he could find while I tidied the house.” Gregory nodded.

“Good. When will we have our first official meeting?” I consider it. He’s right; the pack will expect a welcome meeting. His voice is a gravelly drawl.

“I think next week, there are several new wolves on their way. Larry said that your pack wanted new young breeding pairs. My sister and her mate plus a group of friends are on their way. We will give them a chance to get here and get settled then we can vote on them at the meeting.” He scrutinized me. “If Jackson thinks that’s the best plan. Of course everything could change if he thinks we should do it differently.” This man is old. He will expect me to submit to Jackson’s wishes even though I am alpha, Jackson is the alpha male and has the final say so in all pack matters. Jackson is the alpha but I have his ear. If this man needs to think that Jackson is in charge, let him. I want everyone to be happy. Earl’s car passes by and it is heading down the lane to a small white house. Kelly gets out of the passenger side and looks my way. “Will you excuse me?” Gregory tipped his imaginary hat as I passed by.

“Summer!” Kelly runs to hug me. I wrap my big little sister in my arms and twirl her around. “Earl helped me get my things from Frank’s house. I explained what happened to the pack and they weren’t very upset about it at all.” Her eyebrows rose and one corner of her mouth lifted. “They seemed quite happy to get a new alpha.” I let go of her and shook Earl’s hand. He’s standing protectively behind her now. I smile because I like it that he has her back. I get only good vibes from Earl. He will take very good care of Kelly. I can feel it. “Anyway, while I was there I spoke to several of the other wolves. There were several that were going to consider it but they want to see what happens there first.” I nod. I understand how they feel, better the devil you know than the devil you don’t. I would do the same thing. Earl was carrying her suitcases toward the house.

“So is this the house that you chose?” I ask. I’m not sure why Kelly would pick the smallest house in the neighborhood. Kelly’s cheeks turn bright red.

“This is Earl’s house.” My eyes must be as big as saucers because Kelly is biting her lip and trying not to laugh. “This house has been in Earl’s family since it was built.” I nod. “He wants me to stay with him, and I want to, is that okay?” I make a face.

“Of course it’s okay. Why wouldn’t it be?” I wrap my arm around her shoulders and lead her toward the house.

“You’re the alpha female Summer. You have to give the okay for an unmated female to stay with a male. So as my alpha female, is it okay?” I shudder. Wow. I have to approve my sister’s extracurricular activities.

“Yeah it’s okay Kel. Try to keep it down though. I know how wild you can be.” Kelly gasps and hides her face in her hands. I can see her red cheeks through her fingers. It must suck to be so pasty white that every dirty thought you have is evident on your face. “Which house do you think Autumn will choose?” Kelly looks around at the houses considering. At the same time, we both point at the same time and say “that one!” Then we both laugh until we have tears leaking from our eyes. We’ve both pointed at a big Victorian. It has a lot of gingerbread woodwork, a turret, and a wrought iron fence around it.

“Don’t judge a book by its cover.” Earl says from the porch. “That one needs new plumbing, new floors, plaster and half of the roof is rotten. It’s been
empty the longest. Summer, would you like to come in and see your sister’s new home?” I nod and smile. I’m smiling partly because Earl has assumed that I approve and partly because he called it hers, that’s sweet.

Inside, Earl’s house is so cute. It has wood floors except the kitchen has red and white checked linoleum. All of the walls are white but there are plenty of pictures of wolves in Earl’s family. The furniture looks comfortable and it has three bedrooms. “The basement is finished and if there is a need for more bedrooms, it would be easy to divide it off.” Kelly blushes again.

“Do you want a lot of pups Earl?” Kelly gasps and turns her head. “Jeez Kel, obviously this is going somewhere, you asked permission to live with him. I believe you asked permission as an unmated female to stay with a male. I assume that means that you two will be mating soon?” I stare pointedly at Earl and damned if he didn’t blush just a little. He nods.
