“Didn’t you like it?” she asked with a frown.
“Of course I did; I liked it too damn much.” Thomas reached behind her and unclasped her bra before sliding it off and cupping both of her breasts in his palms, gently rolling them. Hilary gasped and arched her back slightly as one of Thomas’ hands then reached down and into her panties.
“So ready for me already,” Thomas whispered against her neck as he gently nibbled his way down before he pulled one of her erect nipples in his mouth, causing Hilary to moan quietly and arch her back again. Thomas chuckled against her before gently sliding his fingers inside of her damp entrance. Hilary closed her eyes and focused on the pleasure that Thomas created inside of her, her body tingling at the feel of him near and inside.
She made a noise of protest when he removed his hands, but he shushed her with a kiss as he reached under her once again and pulled her panties off, tossing them onto the floor before he settled himself between her thighs with a grin.
“Please, Thomas,” she begged.
“I love hearing my name come from your mouth,” Thomas growled before he bent down to kiss her on the neck as his hand returned to where it had previously been. She knew that there was going to be a hickey on the side of her neck, but she couldn’t find the effort to care when his hands were creating such a spark between her thighs.
He continued to tease her until there was a pink flush over her entire body and she was crying his name over and over again in hopes of getting him to give her what she needed. After what seemed like hours, Thomas finally stopped his teasing and reached over to his bedside drawer to pull out a condom.
Hilary pushed herself up on her elbows and watched as Thomas applied it carefully before he shuffled himself closer and pushed against her entrance. She couldn’t stay in the position for long and fell back onto the bed as pleasure consumed her body in the few moments it took for Thomas to completely enter her.
Thomas bent his head down and captured her lips in a kiss again, and Hilary couldn’t help but be overwhelmed by her senses. She was feeling pleasure throughout every aspect of her body. The smell and feel of Thomas was penetrating every part of her, heightening her arousal as she cried out whenever Thomas would move.
Hilary felt like her body was on fire and Thomas was the only one who was able to calm the flames inside of her. His body moved in all the right ways, generating just enough pleasure to hold off her orgasm until the end. Sweat formed on both their bodies and created lewd sounds that echoed through the room.
“Please, Thomas,” Hilary pleaded again, causing him to growl and reached between their bodies so he could rub his thumb over her most sensitive spot. Her body couldn’t handle the pleasure anymore, and it erupted into the most violent orgasm she had ever experienced in her twenty-four years of life. Thomas followed a few seconds later and rolled to the side and flung his arm over the edge of the bed, his chest heaving.
“That was…”
“Mmm.” Hilary murmured and closed her eyes, her body sticky with sweat. She felt herself drifting off to sleep and knew that she should really get up and leave, but her body was to content to stay at the moment.

When Hilary woke up, the sun was just beginning to stream through the curtains. She looked over and saw Thomas still sleeping and frowned; she knew that she should really stick around, but something was telling her that she should leave. Hilary dressed as quietly as she could and wrote a quick note before calling a cab. She was home within thirty minutes and sitting at her computer again. The words seemed to flow from her mind to the paper—Thomas was the perfect type of inspiration. He was the perfect man to show her what she was lacking in her stories.
Her phone must have rung about ten times while she was writing, but her mind was too engrossed in her story to even bother contemplating about picking it up. She had a few days left to get the story done but it looked like she was going to finish it by the evening.
“Are you sure this is what you want?” Eric asked Juliette, his arms wrapping around her from behind and kissing her neck gently.
“More than anything in my entire life.” Juliette turned in his arms and kissed his chin gently before smiling. “Take me to your bed, Eric.”
Hilary was surprised to see that is almost ten at night when she finally stopped writing and took the time to read back through her story. Her face flushed at the sexual acts her characters had gotten into in the book; the graphic detail she had provided them came simply from her memories with Thomas the night before.
While her story was supposed to be fictional, she was certain none of her readers would think she could get up to such things with a man. She was sure her story was safe from anyone knowing her secrets. While she missed Thomas terribly, she knew that it had only been a one night stand and that was what she needed for the inspiration. She emailed her publisher and closed her computer down for the night.
Hilary spent the next week waiting for a response, hoping that it was what her publisher wanted and that this wasn’t her last chance at proving herself. She received an email exactly one week from the day that she sent it.
Hilary,
This is exactly the type of story we were looking for. We knew you had it in you and are happy that you managed to complete the task in such realistic circumstances.
Shaun
Hilary released a sigh of relief and her thoughts went back to Thomas. She hadn’t thought to check her phone the entire week and was surprised to see that she had seventeen missed calls from an unknown number. She dialed the number and cringed when a deep voice appeared over the line.
“Hello?”
“Thomas?”
“Nice to know you’re still alive.” Hilary winced at the bitterness in his voice.
“I’m sorry. I just had so much to do this week. I’m glad you found the note I left you, though.”
“It’s fine. You could have at least answered once. It would have been the right thing to do.” Hilary heard some rustling in the background and sat on the edge of her bed before taking a deep breath.
“Come over and I will show you what I have been busy with.” It was big move since Hilary never allowed anyone she knew to read her work. She preferred to keep everything a secret if she could. She held her breath as she waited for Thomas’ answer.
“Okay, tell me your address.”
****
“There better be a good reason.”
That was the only sentence that Hilary got out of Thomas when she opened the door. She shrugged and led him towards her computer before gesturing for him to take a seat, and then she opened the document. Thomas sighed, casting a look at her, before starting to read the story.
Hilary sat on the sofa, waiting nervously for almost three hours for Thomas to read the story. She saw him laugh a few times and frown some more. When he reached the end of the document he pushed the chair away and turned to her.
“So this is what you were busy with the past week?”
“Yes.”
“I was just a fuck for your story? How lovely of you.” Thomas stood up and paced around the small living room a few moment before turning back to face her.
“That wasn’t the reason at all,” she insisted. “I went to the club to get inspiration but I wanted to go out with you and I wanted to sleep with you. You weren’t just for my story.” Hilary stood up and placed her hand against his chest with a frown.
“I like you so much, Thomas. I just thought that you could do better than me, so I left you alone. I’m sorry.”
“Better than you? Hilary, you’re perfect. You’re beautiful and funny and quirky. You’re the best thing that happened that night. I needed someone like you to come into my life and spark it back up again; to be honest, I was getting pretty bored with my life. You are the best thing.”
“Do you mean that?” she asked, surprised.
“I don’t want just one night with you; I want hundreds with you. Just tell me you want the same thing.” Thomas r
eached out and cupped her cheek in his hand before placing a gentle kiss on her lips.
“Of course I want that,” Hilary replied quietly. “I’d be mad not to want the same thing.”
“Who knew a simple story would bring us together?”
“It must be fate.” Hilary giggled, then yelped in surprise as Thomas wrapped his arms around her and lifted her. It seemed like she and Thomas were going to get along better than they did in her story. Who knew that walking into a bar would get her one of the most amazing men she had ever encountered?

“Margaret Rice! Please rise!” John, the Sergeant-at-Arms, bellows.
I rise from my chair feeling pale and nervous. I don’t know why I’m nervous. I have known these guys for years. Hell, some of them helped raise me when Daddy passed away; but, this is something I have been working for, waiting on, for a long, long, time, so I guess nervous is okay.
“Step forward!” John commands, his expression stern.
I step away from the table and walk to the front before stopping in front of Philip, President of the 417 Motorcycle Club.
“Margaret Rice. I am about to administer your oath of induction. Are you prepared to accept this oath?” Phillip asks, as John retreats to the doors at the back of the room.
I swallow hard. “I am.”
“Please raise your right hand and repeat after me.” When my hand goes up, Philip begins, “I, Margaret Kimberly Rice…”
“I, Margaret Kimberly Rice…” I repeat. Before Philip can continue the doors bang open at the back and the room erupts into shouts. Already on edge, I jump at the sound before whirling to see a fucking ghost stride into the room. The room begins to spin, as I suddenly get light headed. I take two steps the side and sit down in an empty chair before I fall. The room is in bedlam as Shane Perry struts into the room like he owns the joint.
***
It takes a moment for me to get my wits about me as the room swirls. Shane had disappeared without a trace fifteen years ago. Everyone, including me, thought he was dead. But, here he stands, big as life, wearing his 417 club jacket just like the last time I saw him.
I stand up, straightening my wedding dress. Wedding dress? I blink hard and look again to see myself in my jeans and shirt once again. What the hell?
Shane and I had just become lovers when he disappeared. We were young, barely twenty years old when he… left? He was in pre-law at Converse and I was helping out in Daddy’s shop and attending a trade school. There was no note and all of his possessions were left behind with the exception of his hog. I cried for days and practically the entire town of Moore was in shock. I have had a few lovers since Shane, but nobody could ever replace him. I walk to the milling throng, gently pushing my way through the crowd.
“Hey, Maggie,” Shane says, looking down at me with that smile that can melt a woman’s heart. I draw back and punch him in the mouth as hard as I can.
“Shit!” I shout, shaking my hand as pain radiates out from my abused knuckles. Punching someone looks easy on television, but it hurts!
Shane takes a half-step back in reaction to my punch, then slowly tongues the bloody spot. “Good to see you, too,” he deadpans.
“You son-of-a-bitch! You walk away for fifteen years, then come back like nothing has happened? Why are you back?” I shout in the now silent room.
“I’m back to take over my club,” Shane says, as if the answer is obvious.
“Your club? This was never your club! This was Daddy’s club!”
“It’s my club now. Isn’t that right?” Shane says, looking directly at Philip.
Philip lowers his head in deference to Shane. “Of course. I knew my position was only temporary.”
Shane smile as me. “See? Everyone out! I have to talk to Maggie.”
The rest of the club members disappear. “What do you want?” I sneer, seething inside.
“I have some bad news.”
I feel my heart sink. “What?”
“You’re not joining the 417s.”
“What?” I shout. “Who the hell do you think you are? Do you really think you can come barging in here after all this time and tell me where I can and cannot join?”
“I’m the President of the 417s, that’s who. And I’m telling you, you’re not joining. It’s the reason I’m here.”
“You mean to tell me you came back, after fifteen years, just to prevent me from joining the 417s?” I ask, my voice as cold as an arctic wind.
“Yep!” Shane says cheerfully. “Motorcycles aren’t for women.”
I feel myself go hot with rage. “You mother-fucker. I’ll have you know I own one of the most respected antique Harley-Davidson restoration businesses in the country. I know more about motorcycles than you ever will.”
“Yeah, but that’s working on them. I’m talking about riding them. You have to have balls to ride a bike. I think you know where that leaves you.”
He is so smug about it I want to kill him. “Fuck you, Shane!”
“I don’t know what you are so mad about. Your own father didn’t want you to join. I’m just carrying on the family tradition.”
“That’s different!” I shout.
“Is it now? How?”
I splutter in impotent rage for a moment. Shane’s right. It isn’t different; but now that Daddy is dead, I am finally going to get what I have been wanting for as long as I can remember. A 417 club jacket.
Daddy formed the club in 1974 and served as its president for nearly twenty years. The club is named after Highway 417. It’s the highway that leads into Moore, South Carolina, where the club is based. The 417s are an “in-law” bike club. In other words, we are all just normal people, with normal jobs, living normal lives. I never understood why women were not welcome in the club when Daddy was president, but they weren’t. Daddy was kind of old school that way. He always explained it away by saying, “Motorcycles are not lady like.” I still don’t know what the hell that means. It has taken years of persistence and effort to finally break down that barrier.
“You can’t do this!” I shout in a rage.
“Already done,” Shane says with a grin. “Now, why don’t you run along, so we can get down to business.”
I stand there, mouth agape, unable to believe what is happening or, more accurately, what has happened.
***
I wake up the next morning, rumpled and hung-over. So fucking close! Only to have Shane snatch it.
“What the fuck are you doing here?” I scream in a panic. Shane is standing at the foot of my bed, watching me.
“Seems you have made a good impression on the boys in the club.”
“Get out! Get out before I call the cops!” I shout pulling the linens up to cover my nakedness. How the fuck did he get in here? And why is he naked?
Shane grins at me. “Now, Maggie, what are you so upset about? It’s not like I haven’t seen it all before.”
“Shane! Get out!”
“Okay. If that is what you want. I thought you would want to hear what I came say.”
“What?” I ask, suddenly interested.
“Well, it seems the rest of the crew has changed my mind about you joining the club.”
“Really?” I ask, suddenly excited again.
“Really. But…”
“But what?” I ask warily.
“But...you are going to have to prove you are worthy of joining.”
“Worthy? I told you, I own and operate a motorcycle restoration business. I work on or have restored half the bikes in the club. How much more worthy do you have to be than that?” I demand.
“That’s not enough. You have to prove you can ride.”
“Prove it to who? You?”
“That’s right.”
“And how would I do tha
t?”
“It’s simple. We race. You and me. From the Pioneer to a little trailer I have in the woods. I’ll show you on a map. If you can beat me there, you’re in. If not…”
“How far is it from the Pioneer?”
“Not far. About twenty miles, but part of it is dirt track.”
“So, if I beat you from the Pioneer to your trailer and I’m in. Simple as that?”
“That’s it. And bring an owl.”
“An owl?” I ask in confusion.
