Enraged: Iron Vex MC Book 1

I narrow my eyes, “I don’t know what you mean by that. You’ve never once given me shit.”
“I just mean . . . maybe sometimes I treat you and Nikki a little differently than I treat the rest of the girls. Hell, I even treat Iris and Faith a little nicer, too.”
There’s no doubt in my mind Boss is being hard on herself. She’s never been negative toward me at all. “Oh, stop. You’re being hard on yourself. You’ve never treated me badly so there’s no reason to even be saying that.”
Just from the expression on her face, I can tell I must not know something. Maybe she said something shitty about me to someone else? Hell, it could’ve happened. We all say shitty things when we’re angry. “No, I was a bitch. Flat out. I gave Rage shit for wanting to bring you. Fuck, I really had no reason to not want you to come, but it pissed me off that he wanted company. He played it off like he was trying to educate this club about how New York swings, but I knew it was shit. It’s clear as day that he enjoys your company. I was being a bitch for no reason to you, and even though you weren’t there to see it, I apologize.”
I don’t know what to say to her. Personally, I feel like this apology is completely unwarranted. Hell, I’ve had so much worse done to me than this. She was angry at her Dad and said some catty shit about me. So what?
“Prez, you don’t owe me anything. It wasn’t that big of a deal.” Boss is one of the kindest people I’ve ever met, in addition to being absolutely terrifying. You never really know what you’re going to get with her, but I don’t mind that at all.
“It mattered to me, so I wanted to apologize,” Boss states, “You’re as much a part of my club as anyone else is. I, for one, am actually glad you’re here. It keeps my father busy. Or . . . it should. Have you seen him around lately?”
Thinking about it, I haven’t seen him for about an hour. “Not since you were talking to everyone else,” I reply back, turning around and searching the space for him. I realize one thing, though. “Boss, I don’t see Joker, either.”
“Fuck. Where did they go? Those two being off together can’t be a good thing,” Boss tells me.
I want to ask her why, but I know better. Everything I’ve ever heard about over the last couple of weeks tells me Joker is nothing but trouble. I started asking questions and even asked Chuckles a few things the other day. Joker has been nothing but an ignorant ass, and while I love to believe in the positive sides of life, I just can’t. Too much bad shit has happened to me and I kinda feel like there’s a cloud of doubt over everything now.
Rage hasn’t just turned a new leaf, and given the fact he and Joker are together, I think it’s causing both Boss and I to wonder what trouble they’re up to.
“They went outside,” I reply, and both of us get up and walk toward the front of the clubhouse. Opening the door, I see Joker and Rage talking to one another. Joker has a scrape on the side of his face and if I’m right . . . there’s dried blood, too.
“Everything alright between you two? Pretty sure Joker didn’t have dried blood on his face earlier,” I point out.
Boss cocks a brow, “I’d love for someone to update me on what the hell happened.”
“Your Dad put me in my place after I said some shit I shouldn’t have,” Joker speaks up.
I keep my eyes trained on Boss, wanting to gauge her reaction. Honestly, she doesn’t look surprised. “I think I should start expecting behavior like this from you. Hell, who knows if you’ll ever be Prez of Toronto again if you continue to keep this shit up. I’m your Prez. I am your superior. There is no excuse.”
“Tala,” Rage says, using Boss’s real name, which causes me to get nervous. An ice-cold feeling runs down my spine because I know this can’t be good. It comes out almost as a warning like he wants her to stop. But why?
Boss looks like she wants to strangle her father. Her eyes narrow in on him and she clenches her fist. “I will warn you about this once, and one time only. I can do whatever the fuck I want with you, even kick you out of this club. Think before you speak to me, Rage,” Boss says, calling her father by his road name. Not Dad. Not Father.
I have a gut feeling, one that’s only going to get worse.
Author Note:
Hey Guys,
If you’ve downloaded this book on release day, you’ll notice it’s not completely finished. I made a public statement on all social media outlets and in my personal newsletter in regards to this. Unfortunately, I’ve been very sick over the last month and I wasn’t able to finish this book in its entirety. Although, I am about 80% finished the book at this time. My editor is still going through the book as I send it to her.
So, I’m sure you’re wondering how this is going to work and I’ll explain this to you all.
On September 30th, you’ll have to delete this file from your kindle and re-download it. Once you re-download, it’ll be the entire e-book. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me at elizabethknoxbooks@gmail.com or on my Facebook Page.
Again, I thank you all for your understanding. I know how badly you’ve wanted this story, but I felt it was wrong to rush the last part of this book. Therefore, you’ll get a bit of it now and more at the end of the month.
Liz
