When she raised an eyebrow in silent question, he pulled her head down once again for his kiss, and just before he claimed her lips, he whispered, “You.”
Epilogue
Logan walked down the hospital corridor. He couldn’t believe the way the events had gone down. He was damn grateful but, at the same time, thought, how typical of Brendan. Logan shifted the roses in his arm. They were more for Anna than Flynn.
As he walked in, he saw lots of other flowers around the room. He laughed. “I guess you didn’t need these.” He handed them to Anna.
She accepted them, threw her arms around his neck and gave him a big hug.
He kissed her on her cheek. “Glad to see our warrior woman doing so well.”
She laughed a little and put a smile on her face. “I don’t know about the warrior-woman thing,” she said, “but I’m doing just fine. Especially now that Flynn’s doing okay.”
Logan turned toward Flynn. “Not too bad, buddy. Get yourself shot and engaged at the same time.”
Flynn gave him a lazy glance. “Recovery is a bitch,” he said easily. “But I’m blessed with my own guardian angel.” He reached out a hand, and Anna was there to grab hold of it.
Logan laughed. “I can see that. Too bad she doesn’t have a sister. Maybe she could share some of that loving, healing light.”
“You’ll find your own light one day,” Anna promised.
He looked at her, cocked his head to the side and said, “I’m not so sure about that.”
She gave him a special smile and said, “I am.”
He shook his head. “Maybe. But I doubt it.”
Still, as he looked at how happy his friend was, he realized they truly were blessed. His time would come. But maybe not for a long while yet. Maybe. He was okay with that.
