Love Me Last

I couldn’t fight it any longer.

I firmed my grip on her waist and started driving my cock up into her. I wanted to impale her.

I breathed harder. Eva whimpered louder. She let me take control, her mouth hanging open. Seeing her bounce up and down on me, breasts moving in rhythm with my thrusts… She was more beautiful than anything I could remember.

  “You’re… You’re beautiful…”

I grunted the words loud enough to make her open her eyes. She didn’t smile. She didn’t frown. She just stared at me with a lustful intensity that made me work even more furiously.

I tightened my grip on her so she couldn’t move as I rammed up into her.

I slammed my body against her with every thrust, our bodies clapping even louder.

Eva fell over on top of me. Her blond hair falling in front of me didn’t stop us from sloppily kissing each other.

I could feel myself moving closer to the edge. It was inevitable. A rising tide was slowly pushing against the dam. It was only a matter of time until it burst.

Her mouth open, right next to mine, she cried out softly then began to tremble on top of me.

I held her tight through her orgasm. Her body shaking in my grip was wonderful. She tightened around my cock, making it hard for me to hold back.

I sat up and wrapped both arms around her. I held her close as she came. Our sweaty skin rubbing together. Her heaving breasts brushing against my chest.

  “Eva… Eva, I’m gonna…”

I couldn’t finish before my orgasm hit me.

I quickly pulled out of her as I grunted hard and deep. I stroked my cock and groaned. Thick spurts of cum fired out of me, landing on her stomach. The lines of semen on her soft skin made her shudder. My body shook violently with every pulse. Emptying myself on Eva’s skin made my orgasm that much more pleasurable.

After I finished, I slowly pulled my sticky hand from myself. I looked down at the mess I made between us, watching a few drops of cum trickle down into her navel. Eva brushed her hair back over her head and looked into my eyes.

Our bodies were shaking. Sweat dripped down our skin like rainwater. We stared at each other in the darkness, silent except for our breathing.

Suddenly, I heard a loud beeping noise. Eva jerked her head around and stared at the glowing light on the desk.

  “What’s that?” she said.

  “The tracking software. It’s finished.”

  “Does that mean—”

  “It’s time to find Reese.”

  Chapter 24

  EVA

Holt Street. It was in one of the seedier parts of town. It made sense Reese would conduct his business in a place the police wouldn’t dare look for him.

It didn’t take more than few seconds for Derek to track his location. There was a chance Reese was on the move but when I lined it up with the records I got from Taurus, it became more likely we’d found his primary base of operations.

It was late in the evening. I took a moment to clean myself off and get ready for what was about to go down. I’d been stuck inside of the hotel room for so long that now that the moment was finally here, my anxiety made its presence known.

Derek’s attitude didn’t change. He was as serious as he always was. He packed most of his things into a backpack and we checked out of the hotel together. We stepped outside and made our way to the motorcycle. Derek held his backpack out to me.

  “Hold this,” he said.

“All right,” I said as I grabbed it.

I was surprised at how heavy it was and nearly dropped it on the ground.

  “What’s in this thing?” I asked. “A laptop shouldn’t be this heavy…”

“Just hold it. Do you know where Holt is?”

  “I do,” I said with a nod.

  “Okay. Are you ready?”

His face was stone-cold. I guess this wasn’t anything new to him. He was doing God knows what out there on covert operations for years. For me, the element of the unknown kept me from being so adamant about the whole mission.

“There’s no turning back now,” he said.

  “Right. I know. I’m ready.”

“We’ll find Reese and Brandon and put an end to this.”

I didn’t say anything more. I hopped onto the bike behind him and we sped off back into the city where everybody was searching for us. The feeling of finally being free was a rush. The wind blew through my hair and against my face as we raced toward Holt.

I knew we had arrived when the scenery started to change. The buildings where white-collar workers went in every day disappeared, replaced by shady pawn shops with neon signs, tattoo parlors and rundown buildings. On the corners, women worked to try and make ends meet. Thugs lurked in the shadows, on the lookout for any poor souls who wandered down the wrong street.

We were moving so fast by everything I almost missed the address. I directed Derek toward a pair of buildings in the distance and he pulled over to the side. He parked in the darkness of an alleyway, several blocks from our destination.

“We’ll walk the rest of the way,” he said.

He took the backpack from me and examined the phone he used to track Reese.

“He hasn’t moved. He’s still there.”

I swallowed anxiously to try and contain myself. I didn’t realize how loud I was until Derek turned and looked at me.

“Are you all right?” he asked. “Are you sure you can do this?”

“Yes, I can do it. Let’s find those people and finish this.”

Derek didn’t say anything to me. He just turned around and began heading toward our target.

We made our way behind all of the buildings on Holt, creeping through the alleys and hopping fences. We did our best not to get noticed. There were some people who saw us but they didn’t bother to investigate. Outside of that, there were only stray cats searching the garbage bins for something to eat.

Reese’s base of operations slowly came into view. There were two warehouses isolated in the distance, surrounded by nothing but vacant lots. It was dark but the moon was shining bright enough for me to see the two one-story buildings clearly. I could see light coming from inside through the windows.

We were about a quarter-mile away. Derek held my arm and watched from the distance. I looked at his eyes shifting left and right like he was trying solve a math problem in his head.

“There are guards,” he whispered. “That has to be the place.”

“That’s not surprising he has guards. I don’t know how we’re going to deal with them.”

“Two, three… There are only four of them.”

“That’s only counting the ones outside. Reese could have an army inside protecting him.”

“Maybe. But that’s not important right now. I can disable the guards outside. Once I do that, I need you to do your part.”

“My part? And what exactly is that?”

  “In the backpack…”

  “What?”

Derek remained staring off into the distance, examining the armed guards that protected the buildings. I took the backpack off and examined what was inside. I saw the laptop he used to install the software on the phone. Then I noticed something else. I reached my hand in even deeper, trying to figure out what it was.

“What is this?” I said, confused at what I was touching.

  “Composition C-4.”

“W-what?” I blinked my eyes in confusion.

  “C-4. Plastic explosives.”

My mouth hung open as I tried to figure out what to say next. I heard him correctly but I still didn’t want to believe him.

  “…Are you joking?”

He turned to me. The look he gave me was enough to know that he wasn’t.

“You’re joking. Please, tell me you’re joking.”

  “Eva—”

“Why the fuck did you hand me a backpack full of C-4? Is that why you left earlier? To get this?”

“Yes. One of my contacts was in the ar
ea.”

“What the hell are you gonna do with this?”

  “Eva, please. Calm down.”

“We’ve been over this before! I’m not destroying anything! I can’t—”

“That was different. You know that we might not have a choice now.”

He put his hands on my arms. That was when I noticed how much I was shaking. My heart was pounding inside of my chest. Derek remained calm as he tried to put me at ease.

“You’ve seen what Reese is doing. You saw what happened to those people. If he manages to manufacture these drugs then it’ll be an epidemic. This city has seen enough problems.”

“And we’re gonna stop them. We’re gonna find Reese and put him behind bars for good.”

“There’s a chance we might not be able to stop him. There’s a chance something might happen. We have to keep every option on the table.”

  “But—”

“What if Reese gets captured? Then what? What if someone else figures out what he was doing? We can’t leave any trace of that stuff. This drug is more dangerous than anything you’ve ever seen. Look—”

He pulled his cell phone out of his pocket and handed it to me.

“…The detonator is hooked up to this phone. I need you to plant the C-4 around the buildings. Get out of range and anybody you find in there. You’ll destroy all of his equipment. There’s no chance anybody will try to repeat what Reese attempted.”

Derek placed the cell phone in my hand. I knew I didn’t have much of a choice. That didn’t make it any easier for me to stomach.

“The blast will be localized,” he explained. “It’ll only affect a small radius. And seeing as how remote this place is, no innocent people will be hurt.”

I kept staring at the phone, unable to comprehend how much responsibility Derek had thrust on me.

“This isn’t about you or me. This is bigger than us. This is about the city. It’s a sacrifice we might have to make.”

I looked up at him and nodded.

“Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that,” I sighed.

His throat shifted as he swallowed. He took a deep breath, his eyes still locked on me, then stood up straight.

  “Follow my lead,” he said.

I walked behind him as we crept through the darkness, inching closer to the buildings. Derek stopped me and we hid behind a parked car. There were a couple of guards just a few meters in front of us. They seemed bored, distracted by their conversation. I leaned against the car and watched as Derek rushed up to the two men.

They didn’t stand a chance. In a flash, Derek incapacitated them before they had a chance to react. He then dragged the two heavy bodies back toward the car and tied them up. I stared at the unconscious men, still in disbelief that Derek had taken care of them so quickly.

  “Come on.”

Derek motioned for me to follow him and we moved toward the back entrance of the building. I leaned up against it. Derek pulled the gun he had tucked in his waist and held it up before slowly opening the door. There was a light coming from inside. I didn’t know what to expect.

Derek pointed his gun forward as he walked in. I moved closer to him, terrified about what I might find next.

  Shit…

My heart raced despite my best efforts to stay calm. Even with Derek in front of me, protecting me, it wasn’t enough to ease my nerves.

He kept walking forward into the warehouse. The lights were dim from the bulbs hanging above. He moved closer toward a door that appeared to lead into a larger room.

  “My God…”

Derek’s surprise sent a bolt through my chest that made me panic. I watched him lower his gun and stand in place.

“What?” I whispered. “What is it?”

I walked up right next to him and peeked my head around him to see what it was.

  “Oh…”

There were a dozen beds. There was a person on each one of them, their arms hooked up to an IV. It wasn’t much different from the sight we saw at the place on Garden Street. The bigger difference was that there were more of them.

Derek rushed up to one of the people, a middle-aged man who appeared unconscious. Derek ripped the IV from the man’s arm and gently tapped his face.

“Hey. Are you all right? Wake up.”

The man appeared lifeless but after a few seconds, his eyes started to blink open.

“Wake up,” Derek urged him. “You have to wake up. We have to get you out of here.”

“I’m calling the cops,” I said as I pulled my phone out.

  “You can’t. Not yet.”

  “Why not?”

“Because if Reese hears a single siren, that’ll be his signal to leave. We have to get these people out of here first.”

I squeezed my phone tight in my palm then let out a frustrated sigh. He was right. I dug my phone back into my pocket and turned my attention back to the man Derek held in his arms.

He was slowly starting to come to.

“W-what… What’s happening?” he said. “What’s going on?”

“We have to get you out of here,” Derek repeated to him. “Eva. The others.”

I nodded to Derek and turned to the bed next to me. I knocked the IV out of the next man’s arm and watched as whatever it was pumping into him drip to the ground. I gently tapped the man’s face, trying to make him come to. After a few seconds, he opened his eyes and looked up at me.

“Come on,” I said. “We have to get you out of here.”

He didn’t say anything. He just lazily nodded to me. I tried my best to pull him up from the bed but I wasn’t strong enough.

  “Here. Let me.”

I heard Derek’s voice behind me. He grabbed the man’s arm and slung it over his shoulder. Then the two of them gingerly walked toward the exit of the warehouse.

“Help everybody else,” Derek said to me.

I nodded to him and got to work as Derek left. One by one, I pulled the IVs from them and did my best to wake them up. Derek returned and escorted them out of the building.

Each patient was more groggy than the next. It was taking longer than expected. As more time went by, I knew that we were running out of it. I had to ignore the fear of getting caught.

There were only two people left. I walked up to the man lying in bed and had a strange feeling as I looked at him. I yanked the plug from his arm and gently pulled him up from the bed. The older man’s eyes started to blink as he stared back at me.

“Hey,” I said. “Are you all right?”

  “I’m… I’m… I’m alive?”

“It would appear that way, yes.”

I narrowed my eyes at him. There was something about him that I couldn’t explain. Then it finally hit me.

  “John? John Marks?”

“You know my name,” he said as his eyes widened even more. “John Marks. Yeah, that’s me…”

He seemed delirious when he said it. I breathed a sigh of relief. I couldn’t believe after all this time, I’d actually found him. But seeing how weak he’d become, I knew it wasn’t the time to celebrate.

“Come on,” I said to him. “We don’t have much time.”

He eased his way up to his feet. Derek ran into the room and up to the two of us.

  “Here,” I said. “Take him.”

Derek took John in his arms and the four of us left the warehouse. I walked with Derek away from the warehouse. All of the other patients we rescued were lying on the ground, hiding in the darkness of an alleyway.

I rested John down on the ground and leaned him up against a wall.

“That’s everybody,” I said. “That’s more people than were reported missing. I didn’t see anybody else in the building. I mean, except for…”

  “Brandon.”

“We haven’t searched everywhere yet. He might still be in the next building—”

“I know. It’s all right. We’ll find him. But now… the explosives.”

  “What about Reese?”

  “
Reese doesn’t know what’s going on yet. I’ll take care of the other guards on patrol while you place the explosives. Once everything is in place, then you’ll have the chance to call the police and tell them what’s happening. If Reese tries anything—”

“He won’t get away. Let’s go.”

Derek headed back to the warehouse with me. When we got back, Derek and I split up. I reached into the backpack and pulled out a small brick of the explosives.

“What the hell am I doing?”

I muttered to myself as I placed it at the corner of the building. At the same time, I kept my head up and searched for anybody who might be watching.

I heard the sound of struggling in the distance and worried Derek might be in trouble but I ignored it. I knew he could take care of himself but the possibility of something happening distracted me.

  Stay focused, Eva.

I managed to make my way around the entire warehouse where we found everybody, placing an explosive where Derek told me to.

I headed to the next building and thought it was strange that it was completely silent. There was no sign of any guards. There was no sign of Derek either.

I held the backpack in one hand and began digging into it when a strange feeling washed over me. I couldn’t explain it but I paused right next to the warehouse and leaned against the wall. I could hear someone inside, talking. I couldn’t tell what they were saying. I knew something was going on inside.

  God, Eva… Don’t do this…

It was a stupid idea. But instead of doing what I was told, I dropped the backpack on the ground next to the outside wall of the warehouse. I made my way around the building, searching for a way inside. When I got to the other side of the warehouse, I found a door that was slightly ajar and light coming from inside.

I inched closer to the door. My heart was thumping so hard inside of my chest I thought it would burst out of me. A drop of sweat streaked down the side of my face. My entire body shook as I got closer to the door.

I looked inside but couldn’t see anything. I took a few steps inside and saw a wide open space. The warehouse was nearly empty except for dozens of barrels that lined one side of the room. On the other side, there were metal vats four meters high that stretched toward the ceiling. They looked similar to the equipment Derek and I found at Industry.
