An incessant ringing pulls our attention, and regretfully we both pull away. Offering one chaste kiss to her lips, I move from her space, giving her the room she needs to rise. Following behind her, I watch her answer her phone, her voice barely a whisper as she closes her eyes in frustration.
"Yeah, I'm still at work. Already? Oh, okay. No, there isn't a spare key. No! Don't come here. Give me five minutes to finish up, and I'll meet you there. It's fine. I just didn't expect you so soon. Love you, too."
Hanging up she turns to me, holding her phone in the air. "Loopy sibling?" I guess, and she rolls her eyes.
"Demanding sibling. I've... ummm…" She stumbles around her need for me to leave and I nod my head.
"It's cool, Riding Hood. Sort out the demanding sibling. Work through the other stuff. I'll be waiting. I don't like it, but I understand. Come to me when you're ready."
Walking towards her I place a kiss on her forehead, and she reaches out to squeeze my hand. "I'll call. Promise," she assures me, and I smile tightly before turning my back on her and walking away. It feels wrong and I have to force my feet with every step I make.
