She had been incredibly lucky that she had never been assaulted and no one had taken her blood, but the horrors she had witnessed while a prisoner still pounded through her at unexpected intervals.
These sessions had helped. Knowing others had experienced something similar had helped her cope with her memories. However, the older she’d grown, the more she’d realized they, the adults, could not see what was right in front of them.
More than once Edana had attempted to speak up, but no one had listened, not her parents, not any of their friends. The men and women who had helped take down the Feral blood slave ring either did not want to see or could not see what had been building right at their center.
Only one man had listened, but he was always on the go, never in one spot long enough for her to share what she had discovered.
Edana tapped her finger against her knee.
Well, so be it. Despite her fathers trying to piece together her heritage they still only knew she was half Naema. The other half was a mystery. She had learned not to care, to only utilize the power this secret ancestor had passed on to her.
And she would use it to burn out the rotten core.
The next battle was just around the corner and she would do everything in her considerable power to protect the people she loved.

About Tina Christopher
Tina Christopher spent her early years flitting across the Channel between Germany and England. After touring the world extensively, she finally laid down roots in Toronto. And while Canada’s winters may be frigid, Tina’s characters are anything but!
Like most writers, Tina often hears voices in her head, but it took the encouragement of an editor friend before she actually put fingers to keyboard. While those first stories will never see the light of day, she’s subsequently honed her craft and learned to build not just worlds, but entire galaxies. Her first book from Ellora’s Cave features a galaxy filled with Vampires, Humans and angel-like aliens called Naema.
When not imagining faraway worlds and scorching-hot encounters, Tina can be found on her sofa working through her never-ending TBR pile or venturing into the real world—whether to a nearby café or a passport-required destination. She’s a member of RWA’s Toronto chapter. Her two degrees in environmental conservation, majoring in large animal studies, come in handy when wrestling with supernatural beasties.
