I Have A Super USB Drive

The two possibilities if it was not able to hold the movies were:

The first possibility, the USB drive and the movie Lucy were closely related, therefore it could not be contained in the drive.

The second possibility, the premise of Lucy was too fictional and thus could not be taken in by the USB drive.

Of course, there existed another possibility. Being that the USB drive did originate from the movie Lucy but it could still hold the movie itself.

Just like an endless parallel universe, the one in the USB drive would be another Lucy universe, but not the Lucy universe which the USB drive came from…

In that case, whether it could succeed in containing the movie or not, there still was no proper explanation.

  Hmmm…

  This was pretty d*mned awkward.

At the moment, all that could be said was the depth of the USB drive was unimaginable.

Chen Chen gave up on thinking about it. He went straight into the workshop and inserted the USB drive into the computer.

"X, insert the movie Lucy into the USB drive."

  "Ok, Dad."

Following Little X's response, Chen Chen saw a progress bar flash on the computer screen. After that, came a "Ding".

As expected, it could not be inserted into the USB drive.

Chen Chen stubbornly opened the USB drive, it still contained the same seven movies.

  [Ju-on.avi], [Final Destination.avi], [One Missed Call.avi], [Ring.avi], [Alita: Battle Angel.mp4], [Godzilla 2: King of the Monsters.mp4], [Terminator 5: Dark Fate.mp4].

The USB drive originally only had four movies. After Chen Chen's stubborn attempt, it turned into seven.

After speculating that the USB drive served as the box's key to reality, Chen Chen did not dare to carelessly open these movies.

The last three movies were fine. Chen Chen was just concerned about triggering some sort of hidden mechanism if he opened the first four horror films.

Of course, those movies would still have to be opened eventually to find out the USB drive's secrets.

  Now was not the time.

  …

  Three days later.

  Shangdu Chuanpu International Airport.

A 911 class commercial airplane headed for Switzerland was parked by a wide airport runway. From the windows in the terminal, you could see the ocean in the distance.

A group of blonde-haired foreigners was lining up in front of the terminal channel. They passed through the ticket gate and headed toward the plane.

Among the foreigners, there were only a handful of Chinese with ink-black hair and eyes.

Among the Earth Federation, there were various bodies of government. The European continent was one of the unique ones.

Unlike the Central Continent, India Continent and North America Continent had a unified government system of their own as they implemented a separate decentralized governmental system.

Switzerland was one of the members operating under a decentralized government.

Even though they were a part of Europe, they had their own "sub-federation" system which bypassed the need for a centralized government. They were only subject to the jurisdiction of the mother Earth Federation.

There was not a large concentration of Chinese citizens in Switzerland. On top of the difficulty of applying for a work permit in Switzerland, there was also the issue of foreigners being slighted by the Swiss.

However, considering the gorgeous natural setting the country had to offer, the exemplary quality of life there, the orderly nature of daily life, and most importantly, the high wages, some people were more than willing to look past the shortcomings and tough it out there.

Qian Wenhuan was such an individual.

He finally had an opportunity to return to his homeland to visit his family, but something major came up in the company. Even the chairman himself had called him several times. In the end, he had no choice but to head back.

Due to working in a foreign land, he only got to see his wife and kids a handful of times each year so it was not easy for him. There were times where he thought about throwing in the towel and head home.

However, each time he felt compelled to do so, he thought about his high wages and ended up giving up on the impractical idea.

Things were never easy for people making a living aboard.

Whenever Qian Wenhuan found himself among a bunch of blonde-haired and blue-eyed foreigners, he would always try to puff up his chest to make his small physique appear larger.

This was a part of his life in trying to incorporate himself into the Swiss working environment.

As he was trying to play the part of a successful upper-class businessman, he noticed a fellow Chinese citizen ahead of him.

Tch, even though the person looked young from behind, he had to admit that this person was better than him at putting up an act.

He was adorned in expensive local-bought clothes. He seemed to carry a strange aura that was able to draw people in wherever he walked.

On top of that, every step he took seemed so effortless and graceful.

  Probably grew up in Switzerland?

Qian Wenhuan shook his head in contempt.

One of the most bizarre things about the Swiss: Even those who did not have any money or own any property whatsoever like to act like upperclassmen. They acted civilized just to impress other nations.

The young fellow in front of him had mastered the art of it.

The only thing outsiders noticed about Switzerland was always the outrageously high wages. Little did they know, the living cost was just as outrageous…

Qian Wenhuan looked daggers at the young man. It was like he was trying to steal away some of his aura.

He was the only one who knew how much he had to endure to be where he was today.

Growing up, he had always been told he had the temperament of a mountain bandit living in the hilltop tribes like the ones you see in ancient times. No matter what he wore, he could never get rid of that impression he gave.

Though he had been honed by society and had learned to put on a smile in front of others over time, all it managed to do was get rid of his scent. Deep down, his original essence remained…

He may not have the picture-perfect image but he put in all the work and got to where he was today. While his peers back in mainland China were working their butts off trying to break into five figures salary, he was making twenty thousand Swiss francs a month.

After conversion, his monthly salary was up to a hundred forty-thousand.

Sadly, twenty thousand of that sum was deducted for tax purposes. Another ten thousand for insurance and twenty thousand for utilities, he spent about thirty thousand each month on food.

The expenses in that blasted place were ridiculous…

Crossing the boarding bridge, Qian Wenhuan's mind was wandering all over the place up to a point he did not even know what he was thinking about. He boarded the plane.

Under the instructions of the flight attendant, Qian Wenhuan arrived at his seat. He put his luggage in the overhead compartment.

The company got him a business class ticket. The seats were grouped in twos, each row contained three sets of combined seats. Not only could the seats be tilted at 180 degrees for him to lay flat, he even had a small personal TV of his own.

It may not be as premium as first class, but it would do.

At the very least, it was far better than sitting in economy where you could not even stretch your legs…

  Phew!

The moment Qian Wenhuan sat down, he heaved a sigh of relief. He could finally afford a good rest over the next sixteen hours.

  "Flip, flip…"

Qian Wenhuan heard the sound of pages being flipped coming from beside him.

Since the seats in business glass were grouped in twos, his seat was directly connected to another person's seat. The only thing that could serve to separate them was a plastic plate that could be lifted.

  At the mome
nt, the plastic plate was not lifted. Qian Wenhuan turned toward the direction where the noise came from and was taken aback by what he saw…

The young man he had seen earlier, who had dressed pretentiously, was sitting right beside him.

Furthermore, he had a book in hand.

  Hm.

The book title was… Easy German Learning with Zero Foundation.

  "Pfft!"

  Qian Wenhuan snorted.

Chapter 50: Free German Tutor |

The moment Qian Wenhuan snorted, several foreigners and flight attendants turned over and looked at him.

He promptly covered his mouth in embarrassment.

No, no, got to stay classy…

After issuing a small reminder to himself, he coughed lightly and turned toward the young man beside him.

To his surprise, the other person did not react to his exaggerated movements. He remained silently fixed onto his book.

Yeah right, keep playing the cool guy…

Even the others around him could hear it so he doubted that the person sitting right next to him could not hear him.

He found it hilarious. The young man along with his cool composure gave off an impression of a mainland Chinese who had been residing in Switzerland for a long time. As it turned out, the piece of diamond was just a piece of bronze all along.

Sixty-five percent of the Swiss population spoke German. If you were headed for Switzerland, it would be helpful to know a bit of German. Still, it was a bit too late for learning after having boarded the plane.

Qian Wenhuan shook his head. He thought it was such a shame that he was not carrying his European German C1 certificate with him right now.

Otherwise, he could accidentally drop it on the floor while chatting with the other person, then casually pick it up from the floor.

The moment the young man saw his C1 certificate, his expression would probably quickly spiral from the stages of being dumbfounded to doubt and awe before finally falling into hysterics.

  That would be fun.

  Sigh, what a shame…

Qian Wenhuan turned away with a faint smile before lazing back into his chair.

How was he going to spend the next 16 hours?

He took out his phone to send a short text to his wife. At that moment, he heard something.

  "Flip…"

  "Flip…"

He heard the steady rhythm of pages flipping coming from next to him. He probably would not even notice it if it was not for his excellent ears.

Qian Wenhuan frowned slightly. He turned around and there it was again - the young man flipping through the book.

  This pace of reading…

  Qian Wenhuan found himself speechless.

Kiddo, were your eyes made of cameras or scanners? How were you just scanning through them?

When he boarded the plane, the young man was still reading the foreword. The plane barely even took off yet he was almost halfway through the book.

Judging by the condition of the book, it was probably a recent purchase. Could he just be revising if he was flipping through the pages that quickly?

Did this mean that this bloke was just putting up an act?

Qian Wenhuan kept muttering in his mind before retracting his gaze again.

  "Ladies and gentlemen:

"Welcome aboard Mainland China International Flight K420, headed for Zurich from Shangdu Chuanpu Airport. The total distance is 8200 kilometers. The estimated flight duration will be 15 hours and 20 minutes.

"The plane will be taking off shortly. The cabin crew will now be conducting a safety inspection. For your safety, please fasten your seatbelts and switch off your phone…"

Following the announcement, several flight attendants began conducting the safety inspection while handing out embarkation cards.

After a rowdy takeoff, the plane was finally en route to its destination.

After the plane had stabilized in the air, Qian Wenhuan loosened his seatbelt without waiting for the flight attendant's instructions. He kicked his feet up and hummed a little tune while he turned on the TV and put on a variety show.

After some time, while Qian Wenhuan was starting to doze off while watching the show, he suddenly heard some ruffling coming from beside him.

He instinctively looked over and noticed the young man setting the book down. He then got up and retrieved a backpack from the overhead compartment.

You're not telling me that he already finished the book?

Qian Wenhuan was slightly surprised. Right after that, something even more shocking happened.

He saw the young man taking out a large stack of books from his backpack.

Was it not cumbersome carrying so many books to the plane?

Qian Wenhuan stared in disbelief as he observed the young man taking out all the books from his backpack. A stack of books was on top of the table while another stack was below it.

Modern University German, New Refinement Intensive German Course, Standard Intensive German Course, Traversing Germany…

Qian Wenhuan had read all these books in the past. There were countless books for learning German but only a handful of which were considered staple resources. All of these classic resources were set on the table now.

Qian Wenhuan was suddenly jolted awake when he saw the familiar book titles. All of these learning resources cycled from basic to advanced!

From the introductory Easy German Learning with Zero Foundation to the expert-level Standard Intensive German Course. Did the young man plan to go through all of them?

When Qian Wenhuan saw the young man flipping his next book, he could no longer resist his urge. "Hey there buddy, what are you doing over there? Learning German?"

"Yeah, I have some errands to run in Switzerland. I figured I might as well make use of the time on the flight."

The young man looked over and answered politely.

'Sh*t, of course I know you're going to Switzerland. What I'm asking you is what you've been doing all this time? Don't tell me you're learning German!'

Qian Wenhuan cursed in his mind but kept his welcoming smile. "You sure are an eager learner but as someone with a bit of experience with German let me give you a small bit of advice. This isn't how you learn German."

Before the young man even had time to respond, Qian Wenhuan continued. "Personally, I don't recommend learning by yourself right away. First, it takes too long to make progress. Second, most people who finish learning pronunciation still feel like there's something off and end up applying for a class anyway. In the end, the tutor will have to spend a longer time than usual trying to correct their pronunciation. It's a common pitfall."

"Is this so? Then, I'm truly grateful for the tip from a senior," the young man responded with a smile.

Qian Wenhuan felt refreshed, feeling like he had proved himself. He went on asking, "Buddy, how much progress have you made with your self-learning so far?"

"I just finished this book. I learned phonetic symbols and the attributes of nouns. I also learned the difference between verbs and sentence structure."

Chen Chen held up the previous book, Easy German Learning with Zero Foundation.

'Hm? You learned it so quickly? Who are you kidding?'

Qian Wenhuan expressed his disbelief. "Then, do you mind if I quiz you a little?"

  "Please do!"

The young man nodded and displayed his eagerness to learn.

Qian Wenhuan was very pleased by the reaction. He nodded in approval and spoke a basic German sentence.

The young man hesitated for a moment and answered with uncertainty.

"See, this is why I say German isn't that simple. You got it wrong right off the bat."

Qian Wenhuan sighed helplessly. "Non-human pronouns are a very complicated subject. The three utensils in the kitchen: Spoon, Löffel. Knife, Messer. Fork, Gabel. These three are valid on their own unless you attach human nouns to them, then it'd be incorrect. The Swiss wouldn't even be able to understand what you'r
e trying to say.

"On top of that, you also need to pay attention to the length of your pronunciation. For example, Stadt and Staat, they have entirely separate meanings if you mispronounce them..."

  ...

What followed after was a sequence of Qian Wenhuan asking questions, the young man answering and Qian Wenhuan pointing out and correcting the mistakes.

In the beginning, Qian Wenhuan was having the time of his life. As time went on, he began to notice something was slightly off.

He began to notice that the young man seemed to be making fewer mistakes as the session went on...

How did he go from making hundreds of grammatical and sentence structure errors to being able to converse with him using a complete, well-structured sentence?

  What the hell!

Qian Wenhuan looked down and noticed that the young man was almost done with the collection of books on the table.

It was only then when he noticed that while he was busy explaining, the young man had been flipping the pages all along. He barely even noticed it because he was too immersed in explaining and all the while the young man took care to give him responses, even praising him occasionally.

'Godd*mn, what the hell am I doing?'

Qian Wenhuan snapped out of it completely. He had been discussing German with a young man he had only met for the first time for three whole hours?

  Chapter 51: Wholly Acquired |

A plane from Mainland China slowly landed in Zurich Airport.

Qian Wenhuan did not move. He silently watched the young man beside him, who packed his coat, bade farewell to Qian Wenhuan, then got off the plane under the guidance of the stewardess.

"Sir, the plane has landed… Sir?"

By his side, a short-haired stewardess prompted him in a soft voice.

  "Huh? Oh, oh, right…"

Only then did Qian Wenhuan recover his senses. He looked around at the nearly empty cabin and hurriedly gathered his belongings.

"Hey, this passenger forgot to take his books!"

At this moment, another flight stewardess suddenly exclaimed in surprise.
