I Have A Super USB Drive

Chen Chen raised his head and saw countless densely weaved together black threads on the screen. They formed a clothed shaped pattern after being weaved together.
"Do you see it? This material was woven from nanowires. The reason we couldn't notice traces of the weaving pattern is that the thread is far too thin. We've measured its diameter at 100 nanometers, which is one-fifth of the diameter of a regular strand of hair."
"What material are these nanowires formed from and is it possible to manufacture them?" Chen Chen asked.
"After running our tests, we've discovered that it belongs to a class of carbon fiber. It's a high-performance carbon fiber processed with specialized technology. "
Passadin explained, "Carbon fiber is the toughest known fiber material in the world. It possesses excellent modulus performance and impact resistance and can withstand temperature up to 1300 degrees Celsius without being damaged. However, you may find it extremely difficult to achieve such thinness using ordinary technique."
"And this is only the first layer." Pitken added. "Even though the entire combat suit is no more than 5 millimeters thick, there are five measured layers within it."
"That's right. The second layer is made of a layer of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber that's also woven together delicately. Its strength is second only to carbon fiber, but it's of a softer quality."
Passadin explained, "The third layer, which is the middle layer, consists of the liquid-form layer you mentioned. We've settled on the terminology 'liquid armor' for now.
"After running our experiments, we found that the bulletproofing qualities of the liquid armor are several times more superior to that of the shear thickening fluids commonly used in the industry. Upon sustaining impact from a significant amount of kinetic energy, it instantly dispersed the energy absorbed in the form of transmission. All at the same time, it transmutes from a liquid form to a solid form which grants the material extreme sturdiness."
"Apart from that, we've noticed that the liquid armor undergoes a drastic change of form upon receiving mild electric currents. We also found a large number of electrode patches in the armor along with an electrical spine hidden in the back. It appears that it can control the liquid using the electrical signals originating from the human nerves. This way, it was able to strengthen the user's physical capabilities.
"Unfortunately, the equipment in this laboratory was not able to deduct the specific composition of this liquid armor." Passadin expressed with a hint of remorse.
"It's alright, tell me about the rest."
Chen Chen was not bothered by that, considering that this was an equipment extracted from a movie. According to the plot, these were originally alien technology that was gifted to the governmental bodies on Earth. It was no surprise that it could not be wholly analyzed using present technology.
"Alright."
Passadin continued. "Moving on to the fourth layer of the body armor now. This is also a layer consisting of carbon fiber which is incorporated to strengthen heat and impact resistance. The innermost layer is the inner lining which serves the purpose of absorbing sweat, providing a comfier overall experience for the wearer. There's also a large number of electrode chips attached which links to the electrical spine located at the back of the armor.
"Regarding the electrical spine, I'm afraid it's beyond our field of expertise. If you want to know more about it, you may need to refer to experts in electronic systems," Passadin informed.
This meant that the key to solving the issue with the biometric authentication restriction of the Gantz Suit lay in the electrical spine…
Chen Chen nodded and pondered silently.
Passadin took a sip of water before explaining further, "Do you see these button-like devices on the jacket? We noticed that these circular devices shaped like buttons are a safety measure design."
"What makes us say so? Because after putting on this suit of body armor, the average person could only withstand a certain amount of kinetic impact. If the kinetic impact surpasses the threshold which the human body could withstand, the wearer will be crushed by the sheer amount of pressure.
"This brings us to these buttoned designs located on the limbs and neck. Upon absorbing a certain amount of impact which surpasses the before-mentioned threshold, the pistons in these buttons will discharge an amount of liquid based on the pressure. This makes it so that the user can survive in such a scenario where the impact sustained is greater than which the human body can handle.
"Naturally, this failsafe feature only works once."
Passadin added.
"Simply put, this body armor can withstand bullet-force impact up to 1000 to 1500 Joules, which is around the range of pistols and mid-range rifles. Its defensive rating is close to that of a modern high-end body armor but it allows the wearer to be more mobile along with a larger surface area of protection.
"In addition, this body armor performs excellently against forms of sharp and blunt weapons. And that's the full detailed analysis of the body armor."
Passadin released a drawn-out breath and nodded at Chen Chen's direction. "I hope Mr. Chen is satisfied with our analysis?"
"Very satisfied, thank you all."
Chen Chen applauded. "Thank you for your hard work over the last two days. As promised, the ten thousand U.S. Dollars will be transferred to your respective bank accounts shortly. I hope that you'll honor the agreement and keep this experiment a secret. I don't want to hear a word of anyone else learning about the existence of this body armor."
"Of course." Pitken nodded. "Since we've signed the non-disclosure agreement, we'll naturally abide by the contract."
The other two nodded in agreement.
After Chen Chen waited for the three of them to pack up the devices and erase all traces of the experiment, he collected the tattered remnants of the Gantz Suit and announced, "Alright, why don't we take a group picture to commemorate our collaboration."
"Group picture?" the three of them came before Chen Chen and looked at each other quizzingly.
"Yes, a group picture." Chen Chen responded with a nod. He put on a pair of sunglasses before revealing a metallic device before them.
"Uh…"
Passadin noted with mild amusement when he noticed the device Chen Chen held in his hand. "Hold on, I've seen this thing before. Isn't this the one from Men in…"
"Click!"
A burst of white light. Their expressions quickly changed from one of confusion to a dazed look hanging on their faces.
"I'd like to thank the three of you for your work in the past two days. I'm very satisfied with your detailed analysis of the fossils I presented."
When Chen Chen finished, he took a strangely shaped rock from his pocket and waved it in front of them.
The three of them gradually regained their sense as Chen Chen walked out of the laboratory…
…
"Boss, Cheng Cao and I barely had time to put on our sunglasses just now…"
Upon walking out of the laboratory, Qian Wenhuan went pale as he quickly explained, "I don't really mind having my memory erased, what I'm worried about is what if something were to happen to you, Boss…"
Chen Chen shook his head and did not know whether he should laugh or cry at that remark. "Don't worry about it. The strength of the radiation is inversely proportional to the distance from the source. As long as you're not standing directly in front of the device, the amount of radiation received is negligible."
"Why would you still need sunglasses then?"
"Always can use some little ritual to spice life up a bit, don't you agree?"
"…"
Chapter 88: Safeguard Mission |
Over the next few days, Chen Chen had officially signed the agreement with the Namibian officials.
According to the 20-year National Energy Policy drafted by the Namibia Ministry of Mining and Ministry of Energy Resources, Blacklight Biotechnology Ltd. had the right to supply electricity resources to an
y Namibian citizen by way of direct commerce. They were hereby permitted to bypass the national power corporation to do so.
For the next three years, Blacklight was exempted from any form of taxes from the Namibian government. After that period, they would be subjected to halved taxes before finally being taxed at a regular rate by the eighth year.
As for the uranium required for generating nuclear power, Chen Chen did not agree to the Namibian government acting as the supplier. This could later be used as a bargaining chip in negotiations with Mainland China.
After all, Mainland China would jump at the golden opportunity to act as the uranium supplier for the only nuclear power plant in Namibia.
The largest tree was always the perfect place for shade. With Mainland China's position as one of the five leading nations in the Earth Federation, securing a nuclear supply chain deal with a corporation from the Mainland would prevent Blacklight from being predated upon by other countries. However, Chen Chen also had to consider the fact that the nuclear power industry and the country itself were separate entities. He had to proceed cautiously to avoid being devoured completely.
After the contract was signed, Namibia was "eliminated". From this point on, it was a three-way battle between the Blacklight, the nuclear power corporation in Mainland China, and the nuclear power sector in Mainland China.
As a display of how crucial the development of this project was, the head of the division of two nuclear companies came to Namibia in person to lead the negotiations.
The issue was not that Mainland China had never considered the prospects of investing in a nuclear power plant in Namibia. The problem was that at the end of 2015, Rainbow Nation had signed a nuclear power plant order worth 50 billion U.S. dollars with Mainland China. Ever since then, Mainland China took caution to never make any mentions of investing in a nuclear power plant in Namibia.
Another thing to consider was that compared to the Rainbow Nation, the number of people in Namibia who could afford electricity bills was still uncertain. Investing in the nuclear power sector in this landscape was inherently a risky maneuver. If things did not go well, there was a chance of losing more than you came in with.
Only someone like Chen Chen would throw in two billion without blinking.
After all, Chen Chen had never received even a month's salary ever since he began working. He hardly touched them if at all and had minimal interest in such things…
As for the handling of the "Foreign Investment Loans", Chen Chen had wholly entrusted the duties to Xia Yin. Xia Yin appeared to be quite busy recently. As word of the translator got out, a pair of jackals seemed to have been attracted by its scent.
For now, the jackals remained hiding in the safety of their shadows without approaching the bonfire. All Chen Chen could see were countless pairs of hungry eyes.
"I got it, I'll go ahead and apply…"
When the matter was entrusted to Xia Yin, she accepted the task immediately. She seemed to be having a difficult time catching her breath when she spoke, all signs pointed to a lack of sleep, "Right, what's the deal with the real-time translator anyway, I don't think I can handle it all by myself…"
"Do as you see fit, just maximize the profit margin," Chen Chen said without a care, "I'll leave it to you, that's all."
"Wait, wait!" Xia Yin quickly stopped him from hanging up before asking carefully, "Will you blame it on me if it turns out I can't hold it down that well?"
"Did I blame you for leaking the experiment thesis back then?" Chen Chen turned it around on her.
"No…" Xia Yin fell silent for a moment. She suddenly inhaled sharply before continuing. "Thank you, Chen Chen."
"That's all."
Only then did Chen Chen hang up the call. He pondered for a moment before suddenly taking out the dismantled Gantz Suit and extracting the electrical spine inside it.
After that, Chen Chen configured his computer's operating system to Linux and dismantled the electrical spine. He took out the motherboard and connected it to the computer which was disconnected from the Internet by using a USB to TTL cable.
Chen Chen took around fifteen minutes after that to write a serial port program and configured its baud rate using its serial debugging assistant tool. After ensuring the connection was a success, the next part should be easy.
For the next step, Chen Chen performed an interactive debugging sequence on the Gantz Suit motherboard. Upon ensuring there were no issues with the motherboard, he connected the computer to his phone and had Little X access the Gantz Suit's motherboard using the phone.
With Little X's knowledge, the Gantz Suit's electrical sequence was very quickly decoded. Little X promptly inserted Chen Chen's biological information into the Gantz Suit. Thus, the Gantz Suit was completely under Chen Chen's possession.
By replicating these methods, Chen Chen extracted two more Gantz Suits from the USB drive. One of them belonged to the protagonist, Kei Kurono, while the other one belonged to another character, Kato Masaru.
Kato Masaru's measured height in the movie was 190cm, which perfectly matched Cheng Cao's height. After transmitting Cheng Cao's biological information into the suit, Chen Chen called Cheng Cao over.
"I have an important task for you."
Chen Chen tossed the Gantz Suit to him. "See if it fits."
"Ok." Cheng Cao nodded and proceeded to take off his jacket.
"The bathroom." Chen Chen added.
"Oh…"
Cheng Chao scratched his head, embarrassed, before he walked into the bathroom with his clothes in between.
After a little over ten minutes, Cheng Cao came back out.
Before Cheng Cao barely stepped foot out of the bathroom, he saw a black figure approximately the size of a human head coming toward him. He quickly reached for it with his hand. Unexpectedly, the black figure carried a tremendous amount of force as Cheng Cao felt the blunt impact on his hand!
Just when Cheng Cao thought he could not brace the impact, he suddenly felt an extra force emerging from his arm. He felt a sudden lightness in his palms as he firmly gripped the object in his hand.
It was only then when Cheng Cao noticed that the item which he gripped firmly in his grasp was the armguard of the PK Armor!
"Good reaction time. Did you feel any form of external force?" Chen Chen asked. It was him who had thrown the PK Armor.
"I did. It felt like it came from this suit I'm wearing?"
Cheng Cao took the time to feel the boost of physicality originating from the combat suit and remarked with interest, "It's not just my strength, it's even enhancing my mobility!"
"That's normal."
Chen Chen nodded. "I'm sure you're also aware of the defensive prowess of this combat suit. But its greatest value lies in the fact that it can significantly boost a person's strength and speed."
Chen Chen thought for a moment before declaring, "Let's give it a name, how about… GS Combat Suit."
"You're saying?" Cheng Cao had a difficult time reading Chen Chen's intentions.
"This combat suit belongs to you now."
Chen Chen snapped his fingers. "I'm going to entrust you a mission. You have to make a trip back to Mainland China to protect Xia Yin, the head of the company. I'm worried there might be some who harbor harmful intentions towards her during this period."
"Got it." Cheng Cao accepted the task without hesitation.
Chen Chen smiled. This was what he liked about Cheng Cao, his fervent attitude of accepting his duties without any further questions.
"Right, there's this one as well." Chen Chen pointed at the PK Armor which Cheng Cao had in his hand. "Put it on!"
Cheng Cao strapped the armguard on his arm without a word.
In an instant, a flash of blue light emerged from it. Within ten seconds, Cheng Cao morphed into an armored combatant standing over two meters tall.
"There's something located around your left arm. Take it out," Chen Chen informed.
Cheng Cao raised his arm in respons
e. Just as he was about to ask how he could access it, a longan-sized silver-white metal ball dropped out the very next second and produced a light "ding" against the surface.
Cheng Cao caught it by instinct.
"Alright, you can take it off now," Chen Chen informed again.
Cheng Cao nodded and promptly removed the PK Armor.
"This metallic ball is a cloaking device. Even though I haven't quite figured out the workings behind it, that won't hinder its usefulness," Chen Chen explained, "keep the GS Combat Suit on and head back to Shangdu with the cloaking sphere."
"Understood." Cheng Cao gave a firm nod. "I'll take a flight tomorrow back to Shangdu."
Cheng Cao put on a jacket over the combat suit and left the room after that.
Chapter 89: Greater Foresight |
While Chen Chen was in Africa, Samuel was across the Mediterranean Sea, in the European region. He stood in a clean and polished laboratory, silently beholding the sight of the incubation chamber that looked straight out of a sci-fi film.
The incubation chamber was a cylindrical structure, measuring about 30 centimeters in diameter. Its body was wholly manufactured with tempered glass, with only its base and top made of metal.
The incubation chamber contained a pool of faint yellowish liquid.
Within the pool of muddy liquid, a fist-sized, human-like life form could be seen quietly suspended within the solution.
It was a chimpanzee still in its fetal form.
An artificially umbilical cord made of biological material was connected to the belly button of the embryo. The cord passed through the other end of the cultivation chamber and fed directly into a nutritional chamber.
The setup of the laboratory served as a model of a mother's womb, directly transmitting nutrients into the embryo.
Seemingly being content with the observation for the day, Samuel slowly turned away from the incubation chamber he was facing. In an instant, rows after rows of cultivation chambers were revealed, each one identical to the other…
This was the experiment project Chen Chen had put together before leaving. Each one of these embryos was the corresponding clone of one particular elderly chimpanzee hosted in the research institute.
