“What did she just call me? She really bumped her head didn’t she,” Aunt Tali teased and kissed my forehead. “We have been more worried about you the last twenty-four hours than anything else. The person responsible for this is in a jail cell right now, not in this hospital bed.”

“Excuse me,” Victor sighed and swatted his mother away.

I watched as he waited for her to move. I slowly tried to slide upright. The nurse had the remote in hand, fixing the bed so I didn’t have to move.

Victor smiled wide at me while he examining me. When he was satisfied, he leaned in and kissed me. I could feel his face wince at his own pain. I tried to pull away, but he reached for the back of my hair and locked his fingers in it as he kissed me deeper.

“I love you,” he breathed in my face.

“I love you, too,” I sniffled. “I love you so much.”

“Stop crying, I would never leave you. How are you feeling?” he asked and kissed me on the cheek.

“Don’t worry about me, are you okay?”

“Ugh, Meliyah, I’m in your room, right? How are you?” Victor said as he frowned at me.

“I’m fine. My head hurts a little,” I sighed.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to push you so hard,” Vic said sadly. “He was aiming toward you.” His eyes flashed with anger and concern.

“You saved my life? You got shot because of me,” I said as my voice trembled.

“What kind of husband would I be if I can’t keep you alive to marry me?” Victor shrugged. “That’s what I get for falling in love with a hood rat.” He smirked as he stifled a laugh.

“A stupid hood rat,” I huffed.

Victor put his finger under my chin and lifted my face to his. “A beautiful, smart, talented, princess,” Victor demanded and kissed me.

“Okay, okay,” Aunt Tali interrupted. “You got to see her, now get your butt in this chair so you can get back to your room.”

Victor turned his body to carefully lie beside me. He threw his arm around me and kissed my cheek. “I like it here. I think I just might stay the rest of my visit here.”

“Victor Ramon Delgado,” Aunt Tali growled.

  “Mother,” Victor chuckled.

“He’s so testing me today,” Aunt Tali murmured and pinched the bridge of her nose.

“I’m safer here with her. I caught the nurses trying to peek under my gown,” Victor crooned.

  “Boy, please,” Aunt Tali snorted.

“What?” Victor shrugged. “Don’t worry the gown is doing nothing for me.” He brushed at my gown and made a chopping motion at his neck.

  “Shut up,” I giggled.

“Shh,” Victor whispered in my ear. “I’m trying to work something out here. You’d look great in a trash bag.”

  “You’re so silly.”

“He thinks he’s cute. I’m going to whip his scrawny tail,” Aunt Tali threatened, “Victor.”

“Mama, please hurry up and marry me so she can stop trying to whip me,” Victor laughed.

“You being married is not going to change anything,” Aunt Tali scoffed.

Just then a doctor walked in and picked up the chart at the foot of my bed. Victor kissed me on the cheek and pulled my blankets over his legs. The doctor looked up at us and smiled, then back at the chart while writing some notes.

“Miss. Santos, it’s nice to see you awake. I see you finally got your wish, Mr. Delgado,” the doctor said with a big smile.

“Yes and I was hoping you could prescribe her as my meds for tonight,” Victor laughed.

“I see you are in much better spirits. I’ll be sending you home tonight,” the doctor said while using a flashlight to look into my eyes.

  “What about me?” I pouted.

“Well, you I want to keep around for at least one more night. I want to send you for a few more tests in the morning and we will see from there,” the doctor replied.

“Dr. P, you’re going to keep my life support here,” Victor sighed. “I guess I’ll have to sleep here.”

“If I would have known this young lady would make you this happy, I would have placed you together a long time ago.” The doctor laughed.

“Oh, please, don’t encourage him,” Aunt Tali sighed. “So, Dr. Peterson we can take Victor home tonight?”

“Yes, I will set up for the nursing service to come to your home as your husband requested.”

“Thank you,” Uncle Alex said and nodded at Dr. Peterson.

“You can hold that nurse until Meliyah goes home. I’m serious, I’m staying here with her,” Victor said no longer joking.

“Poppa, no, go home. I’ll be okay,” I pleaded.

“Don’t you start too. I’m staying here.”

“Vic, you can go sleep in your bed.”

“Overrated, I won’t sleep if you’re here and I’m not, so I’m staying,” Victor demanded.

“I can start the nurse coming to the house on Tuesday,” Dr. Peterson offered.

“Alex, I’m not doing this. You deal with him,” Aunt Tali huffed.

“Tali, let him stay if he wants. He is only going to drive everyone crazy if we don’t,” Uncle Alex sighed.

  “Thanks poppy,” Victor crooned.

Aunt Tali narrowed her eyes at Uncle Alex and then pinched Victor. Vic started to laugh as Aunt Tali leaned to kiss him on the forehead. I had a feeling I didn’t want to be in the house the next couple of days.

Uncle Alex looked more stressed than I had ever seen him. Victor reached for the remote and lowered the bed. He winced a little as he got comfortable and placed his head on my shoulder.

“Would it be too much to ask for some real pajamas, my brother could bring them,” Victor sighed and snickered a little.

“You want pajamas take your butt home,” Aunt Tali grumbled.

“Thank you, Mom, I love you too,” Victor laughed. We both knew she would send him whatever he wanted.

The doctor finished her checkup, asking a few questions, and checking for a fever. After she jotted something on my chart again. Victor played with my fingers, singing in my ear.

Once the doctor was gone, Uncle Alex and Aunt Tali stayed a little longer to talk to me and make sure I was okay. Victor was given his discharge papers and one of the nurses was nice enough to bring his things from his room. Aunt Tali helped me to the bathroom the first time because I looked a little unstable.

When I got back in bed, Vic held me extra close as he looked more concerned. He kept apologizing for pushing me so hard. I had to tell him I understood.

Al and Vanessa stopped by with Victor’s pajamas as Aunt Tali and Uncle Alex were leaving. Victor went into the bathroom to put the sweats and shirt on and was right back at my side. Once I saw him in his clothes, I was sorry I didn’t ask for some.

“See you tomorrow,” Alex promised as he kissed me on the cheek and patted Victor’s shoulder.

“Bring me some breakfast, Al,” Victor said as his face rested in my neck. He sounded so sleepy.

“I got you, you want something Meliyah?”

“Something to wear and a brush or a hat,” I giggled.

  “No problem,” Al laughed.

  “Later guys,” Vanessa sang.

I watched them leave and then I turned to face Victor. I placed my hand on his face. He kissed my palm, then kissed my lips. I was happy he did stay with me. I felt safe and happy with him here. Victor placed his hand on my hip and drew me closer.

  “How you feeling?” Victor asked.

“Better, we are going to be all jacked up at our wedding,” I laughed.

“We’ll be good,” Victor chuckled. “Four weeks is enough time.”

“Four weeks, that sounds crazy. We’re really getting married. I remember when I thought you hated me,” I laughed.

“I never hated you. I hated not being able to have what I wanted. I feel like I waited forever to be with you, like all my life, I knew you were coming and now you’re finally here.”

  “I thought
I was going to lose you, Poppa. I couldn’t take that. I love you so much.” I said holding back a sob.

“I’m not going anywhere. We were meant for each other, Meliyah. I love you too.”

We talked for a little bit longer until neither of us could hold our lids open. We were both mindful of each other’s injuries. I turned on my side and let Victor lace his fingers in mine as we slept. This was exactly what I needed.

Alex was in the room first thing in the morning with fresh clothes for Victor and pajamas for me. Victor got to eat the breakfast Alex brought him, while I went for a head scans. I was so hungry when I got back to the room. My hospital food was not half as good looking as Victor’s food looked, but I was so hungry it didn’t matter.

Uncle Alex and Aunt Tali were in my room by the time I was done with the tests. Aunt Tali looked like she was going to have a fit if they didn’t let me go home soon. The doctor came around in the late afternoon to see me and told us the scans looked good.

I was free to go home. I was more than happy. I know Victor couldn’t have been comfortable sleeping with me the night before and I wanted him in his own bed resting.

I got my wish. Victor was in his own bed right after dinner, only he insisted that I be in it too. He threatened to climb into mine if I didn’t stay with him. We kept the door cracked, but Aunt Tali and Uncle Alex knew neither of us were in any shape to do anything. We slept the rest of the evening and most of the next morning and afternoon.

We started working on our makeup assignments by Thursday. We both had the all clear to start school again on Monday. Victor and I became so close during that week. We were in our own little world. The way I loved him before had nothing on how I felt after what we went through together.

  chapter thirty-one

  First, My Only

Our wedding was beautiful. Uncle Alex walked me down the aisle. He looked as proud as I thought my dad would.

I looked beautiful in my strapless gown that was fitted all the way down to just above the knee, then flared in a pool of chiffon. The fitted portion of my dress followed my curves and was covered in crystals.

My hair was pulled back into a neat bun of curls on the back of my neck. Aunt Tali went through so much to get me the diamond and Swarovski crystal covered head piece I wanted. It looked perfect.

I, of course, wore the earrings Victor had given me. I would have dreamed of taking them out. They seemed to shine more than ever on our wedding day.

Victor looked so handsome in his tux and all his brothers, except little Cesar, stood with him. Their now all my brothers. My new sisters looked great in the yellow dresses I picked out.

Somehow yellow has become my favorite color, just like my husband. There were yellow and white flowers everywhere. It was fitting that the ring Victor’s father had given Tali was yellow. It was the perfect complement to the day.

I received the best surprise ever when we got to the house for the reception. We thought we were going into the study to sign more papers for the wedding. What I was really going to sign, were the papers for the millions of dollars my father had put away for my eighteenth birthday.

Victor just laughed and called it my pocket money. When I offered to pay Tali and Alex back for the wedding they ignored me. I had plans to pay for school myself, but they took care of that before I could too.

I had so much to be happy and thankful for that day. I never thought my life would turn out the way it did. It seemed like overnight, I was a millionaire with a loving husband and a huge mansion that my in-laws and my Uncle Sisqo had fully furnished.

Not only did I marry into a ton of money, I was now wealthy on my own. But none of that made it perfect. What made my wedding day perfect was the fact that I was married to the man that would die for me.

Vic wasn’t after Mellie with the banging body from the Towers. He wasn’t after my virginity and bragging rights. Victor wanted me.

We had been married for hours and Vic still hadn’t groped me or tried feeling all over me. Even in the limo on the way to our new home he held me in his arms tenderly, as he played with the rings on my finger. When we got into our home, he danced me around our new foyer singing in my ear for what seem like hours.

When we did go to our room, I went to get ready for our first night as a married couple. Victor waited patiently for me in our new bedroom. I could hear the TV playing as he chuckled at whatever he was watching. I was so nervous, but for the first time, I wasn’t confused or scared about what awaited me on the other side of the door.

I showered and dressed up in the corset and lace panties my mother-in-law helped me pick out. Tali was a mess the day we shopped for my wedding night. She cried because I was going to become a woman, then she cried because her little boy was the man that would make me one. She said it seemed like yesterday she was holding him in her arms for the first time.

Once I was ready, I made my way into the room to the man that never asked me to rush what I wanted. Vic never pushed me to change my mind and never forced me to grow up faster than I wanted to.

I was ready this time on my own. I walked over to him as he watched me and gently climbed over his lap. Victor sat up in the bed as I settled in his lap. He reached for my waist as he looked in my eyes not at my body.

In that moment, I knew this was exactly the one for me. Here I was half naked and my eyes were where he wanted to focus. Then, like a man staved he kissed me.

  “I love you,” he breathed.

“I love you too, Poppa,” I replied.

Vic smiled and ran his hands up my back. He kept his eyes on mine as he unfastened the corset slowly and gently, one hook at a time. It was like he was barely touching me at all, which only increased my anticipation.

Victor gently pulled it away and throw it to the floor as he smoothly placed his hands on the small of my back. He moved his head to the side to kiss my neck.

I could feel his wedding band running across my skin as he drew his hand up my back. Vic kissed his way down from my neck, to my collarbone, to my breasts. I moaned at his gentle touch.

Victor reached to pull my hair from the bun that was holding it back. I reached to help him and he stopped to watch me.

“You’re so Beautiful, Meliyah,” Victor said softly.

  “Thank you,” I said shyly.

“Are you scared?” he asked as he ran his hand down my side.

“No, I want you,” I answered and bit my lip.

“Come here,” he said softly and placed his hand in the back of my hair to pull my face to his, Vic devoured my lips.

He gently rolled our bodies so he could lay me down on the bed. I laid there eagerly as he pulled the lace panties off. Victor kissed his way from my toes, to my ankles, to the inside of my thighs.

I thought I knew what to expect as he continued, but Victor was nothing like Raul. I made assumption back then. I assumed Vic wasn’t as mature and experienced. I never thought of Vic being with other girls.

As I laid there, I was made to take that assumption right back. Vic was gentle and patient, but effortlessly skilled in waking my body to his touch. Vic’s touched with love and attentiveness, causing my body to react totally differently. It was a much faster reaction and much more powerful.

I was out of breath and dizzy by the time Vic brought me to climax with the simple flicking of his tongue, but Victor didn’t stop with the first time my body quaked. He took his time devouring my core and letting it happen again, and again and again. I exploded three more times before he kissed his way up my stomach to my neck.

“Do you want me to use a condom?” Victor panted in my ear.

“No,” I panted back, “I want to give you a baby.”

Victor beamed at my words and kissed me deeply. He locked his fingers in mine and pushed his way inside me. We were one.

“Meliyah,” Victor moaned my name in my ear.

“Oh God, Vic,” I cried out as he filled me. I knew Victor was long and thick, but I didn’t expect to feel so fu
ll.

Vic started to kiss away my tears of pain and pleasure. I could feel him restraining himself as I adjusted to him. His fingers tightened around mine and I squeezed his back.

“Are you okay,” Vic panted against my lips.

“Yes,” I breathed and nodded my head. “Please, you can move.”

“Thank God,” Vic groaned and started to move his hips.

I locked my legs around his back as I whimpered in pleasure. Vic rolled his hips at just the right angle and I near started to sing. He grunted a small growl.

“Sí, Meliyah, move with me,” Victor moaned.

  “Like this,” I ask innocently.

“Remember the first time we danced together? The way you moved with me,” Vic asked encouragingly.

I catch on as soon as he said it. I started to bounce my hips against his waist. “Oh, Vic,” I cried out as it started to feel amazing.

“Holy…yes, Baby, just like that,” Vic growled with fire in his eyes.

He released my fingers and grasped my hips. Vic quickened his pace and dipped his head to capture my nipple between his lips. It was all more than I expected.

  “Vic, yes, I love you.”

  “I love you too, Mama.”

I started screaming Vic’s name so loud my voice became raw. I soaked him and the sheets as I came all over him. Vic didn’t stop, he just flipped me onto my belly and took me from behind. I had no problem giving him what he wanted. I screamed in pleasure the whole time just like he said I would.

My pillow was soaked with tears of pleasure as Vic plowed into me from behind. I’d never had sex before, but I was pretty sure there weren’t many women getting it as good as my husband was giving it. I knew I was a tight fit. Vic kept telling me so, but I was so wet he filled me up with ease.

I came twice more in that position before he flipped me again, and made slow love to me face to face. Vic took my lips and kissed me the whole way through. I was surprised and thrown into bliss when I felt him explode inside me. His hot seed triggering, yet another orgasm from me.

It was perfect. Everything I hoped for and more. I was definitely happy I waited for Vic. Victor Delgado was my first just like he said he would be. He made love to me because he loved me.
