  “Really, Mel?” Cassie chuckled.

“But I’m sorry I yelled.” I kissed her again and put her back in front of her plate, before sitting back down in front of mine. “Is there anything else?” I folded my arms, lips tucked in, waiting.

“Not that I can remember. And in my defense, I did live in Oakland for a long while, so that wasn’t a complete lie.”

The only reason I was still gonna fuck with Cassie was because I did love her stupid ass, and Melody too. Not to mention I guess I understood her not wanting to tell me all her business when she thought I was just gon’ be a fuck buddy. But if she came out the woodworks with some more shit, I might choke her ass up a wall.

“I go play?” Melody looked at me.

“You need to ask me, Mel. And yes, you can go,” Cassie responded instead.

  “Thanks, Mommy.”

She got up, but Cassie stopped her to wipe her hands down with some wipes, before letting her run off. I got her some kind of dollhouse yesterday, and she sat in front of it playing day in and day out.

“Aye, what you doing?” I grinned when I realized Cassie was under the table with her hands at my belt buckle.

  “What’s it look like?”

She pulled my dick from my jeans, and then started to suck on the tip. I looked over my shoulder to make sure Melody wasn’t in the living room, and then I palmed the back of Cassie’s head so she could take me in some more.

“Fuck,” I groaned, throwing my head back as she topped me off like a porn star. “Damn, baby. You ‘bout to take the skin off a nigga’s shit.”

Just as I felt my nut rising, my phone started to buzz and move around on the table. I picked it up, frowning hard because the head was magnificent. Yeah, a nigga said magnificent. Cassie’s head game had a nigga from the hood using bigger words than good and fire. Had a nigga sounding like he had an education.

“Shit, get the balls, baby— oh fuck,” I grumbled, dropping my phone back down since I didn’t recognize the number. “Ahh, shit!” I damn near cried as I felt my toes jerk when I busted. “Got damn! Whose dick you been sucking?” I glared down at her, breathing heavily like I’d just ran a marathon, as she licked her lips and flashed me that pretty ass smile.

  “What?” she laughed.

“Who the fuck dick you been sucking? You told me you ain’t fuck ya baby daddy, but where you get sucking dick like that from? You ain’t never topped me off like that.”

I was hot as fuck. We’d been broken up for a cool little minute, and now she was in here sucking my dick like a Las Vegas hooker. Shit, she had me patting my pockets for my wallet so I could pay her ass.

“I don’t know.” She came from under the table. “Maybe I just got better.”

“Yeah, aight. Let me find out yo’ ass been out here slurping other niggas while I was laid up in my bed alone, holding yo’ picture.”

“Get the fuck out of here!” She laughed, pushing me as we headed to the bathroom.

She brushed her teeth and helped me clean my dick. Then we both washed our hands before leaving the bathroom.

“Here you go!” Melody ran up to me with a band-aid. Shit was Hello Kitty.

  “What’s this for, baby?”

“You hurt. I hear you cry in kitchen.”

Cassie burst into laughter as she picked Melody up, and I just shot her ass a look to say shut the fuck up.

“Thank you, baby girl.” I kissed them both and then went to get my phone. I saw the number that called a minute ago had left a voicemail, so I tapped it to listen.

“Good morning, Mr. Benjamin, this is Dr. Edith Early, and I’m calling to inform you that the DNA results are now in. You can come down to the office now, on your scheduled appointment date, or I can have them mailed; whichever is okay with you. Please call this number back and we can discuss which option you’d like. Thank you.”

I called the number back and paced the kitchen as the line trilled. I wanted to pick this shit up and right now before I hit the studio with my brothers.

  “Hello, this is Dr. Early.”

“Hey, what’s up, this is Kordell. Umm, Mr. Benjamin.”

“Oh, yes. The results are in so would you like to pick them up on your appointment date, or I can mail them. You’d receive them in about two days.”

“Nah, hell nah, I wanna pick them muthafuckas up and today.”

“Uh, okay. Well you can come anytime. If I’m not in when you arrive, my assistant will give them to you. I called Ms. Wilden, but she didn’t answer.”

“Thanks.” I ended the call. Pocketing my phone, I went to the back to see Cassie and Melody playing in the guest room with that dollhouse. “Aye, I’m gonna go pick up them DNA results and then hit the studio. Y’all can come through to the studio, but if not, we can get dinner or something. You know a nigga’s cash flow has improved a little bit.”

“Okay, dinner will be fine. I have some errands to run.”

“Cool.” I walked over and bent down to kiss Cassie’s lips, and she held the side of my face like she always did these days. I kind of liked that sappy shit. After I pecked Melody’s forehead, I dipped.

I made it to the doctor’s office about thirty minutes later, and parked right up front. It was a weekday and morning time, so nobody was really around. Rushing inside, I took the elevator up, and damn near burst off into the suite.

“Aye, umm, I’m here for those results. It’s Benjamin, or Wilden, or whatever the fuck.”

“Oh, okay.” The girl chuckled and smiled lustfully. “Are you in a rap group?”

  “Yeah.”

  “Kordell, right?” she grinned.

“Yes, but, baby, please go get them results for me.”

“Okay.” She got up and then came back a little bit later with a brown manila envelope. “Here you go. Can I get a picture?”

I looked up from the envelope and then nodded. She came around and we took a picture together, then I signed a Post-It for her.

“So are you having any shows or anything like that, that I could come to?” She licked her lips. “It’ll be worth your while.”

“You have a booger in your nose.” I cleared my throat and then started towards the door as I opened the envelope.

As I rode the elevator down, I read the shit and just shook my head. I already knew what it was gonna say, but I couldn’t say that I wasn’t pissed. Storming off the elevator, I shoved the doors of the building open and then jogged to my car.

Flooring it, I made it to the Static building rather quickly since there wasn’t much traffic, and then parked on the side of it. I hurried inside with the papers and my backpack, rode the elevator up, and then walked briskly down the hall before bursting into the studio room to see Chaz, Ishmael, and Mischief.

“I knew yo’ muthafucking ass was lying! But it’s cool, nigga! Just know that the only relationship we’ll ever have is business! I’m not yo’ fucking brother no more!”

“You must be PMS’ing,” Mischief replied dryly.

“Aye, hold the fuck up!” Chaz blocked me when I tried to charge Mischief who leaned back in his chair laughing. “Calm down. What the fuck are you on, nigga?”

“Look!” I smashed the DNA results into Chaz’s chest and he caught it before it fell. He read it, and then looked at Mischief with a disappointed look.

“I already knew it.” Ishmael laughed, eating some type of chicken.

  “What?” Mischief frowned.

“Here, man.” Chaz handed him the paper. “Shit says that Kordell ain’t the father, but he’s related to the father.”

“Meaning you!” I barked from across the counter, pacing and trying to calm down.

Mischief scanned the paper, and chuckled angrily. “Wow. That son of bitch.”

  “Who?” Chaz questioned.

“This all makes sense now. Look, Kordell, bro, I did not fuck Brooke. No offense, but I would never stick my dick in that. Yeah, I love pussy, but I’m almost as picky as Chaz. This baby ain’t your nephew, it’s y
our brother.”

“What the fuck are you talking about?” I furrowed my brows.

“Pops got that bitch pregnant, and that’s why he’s trying to pin this shit on me. Fuck! I knew the fact that she came out of nowhere with this shit was strange. I mean besides the fact that I’d never touched her.”

Suddenly, my skin started to get hot because I felt like a damn fool. That nigga had played me like a Sega Genesis. And how could I believe his bitch ass over Mischief, knowing for one, Mischief hated Brooke and always said she was too ghetto. And secondly, he was my brother. He always looked out for me. Yeah, he fucked Sammi, but Ishmael wasn’t his brother and he didn’t have the same bond with him as he did with me.

“Wow, Mel Benjamin never ceases to amaze me.” Chaz laughed, shaking his head and sitting down in the other swivel chair.

“Aye, Shai, my nigga, I’m sorry.” I walked to him. He just shrugged it off. “Nah, I’m serious. I should have never taken his and Brooke’s word over yours, because I know you wouldn’t do me like that. It was just I didn’t see why Brooke would lie. If anything, she’d try to keep making me think it was mine.”

  “I get it. It’s cool.”

  “Give me a hug, nigga.”

“The fuck? Man, back yo’ ass up, I ain’t giving you no muthafucking hug.”

“Aight.” I started to walk by him, but when his body relaxed, I grabbed his big ass and bear hugged that muthafucka.

“Kordell. Bro, let me go before I clock yo’ gay ass,” he threatened as Chaz and Ishmael laughed.

I didn’t quite know where the latter stood with him, but hopefully Ishmael would realize the problem was Sammi’s sewer rat ass and not Mischief.

I let him go, and then went to sit down next to Ishmael so I could have one of his wings.

“Greedy ass.” He smacked his lips as I bit down into it.

And just like that, shit was cool between Mischief and me. But what my dad did was fucked up and that nigga needed to pay for that shit; him and Brooke.

As I threw the chicken bone into the trash, I got a text from Cassie.

  Cassie: Who is this bitch?

Attached was a picture of the girl and me, from the doctor’s office. Talk about working fast.

Me: Damn how’d you find that?

Cassie: I check what pictures you’re tagged in daily. Now who is the bitch?

Me: Lol a fan with a booger in her nose.

Cassie: Y’all look like y’all just got done fucking in that picture…

Was she serious? I couldn’t help but to laugh. Why would we fuck and then take a photo together like that?

Me: Baby relax. I swear it’s a fan.

Cassie: I’m gonna DM her. Make her take down that provocative picture. She knew what she was doing,

I just laughed and put my phone up.

  Laine

“You look sexy under this dim ass light.” Mischief pinched my chin lightly as he looked down at me. I admired his wide grin, seeing how happy he was.

We were standing in the hallway of the studio he used in Redondo Beach. Being pregnant, I was always hot, horny, and hungry, and since I felt like his studio room had me on fire, we were by the entrance of the building, letting the cool night air hit me.

  “Your mood seems different.”

“I didn’t tell you, my brother and I are cool now.” He shoved his hands into his pockets, and leaned against the wall. He pulled his hood over his head, and licked his sexy lips as he watched me.

“Oh yeah? He finally realized that bitch Brooke was lying?”

“Yep. The baby is our brother, just by blood though. I would never claim that little nigga as my fucking brother. I don’t want shit related to me that’s related to hoe ass Brooke.”

“Too late, my love; you share the same father as that baby so you have fifty percent of the same blood.”

“Whatever.” He waved me off, checking his phone. “All I know is if Kordell don’t beat that nigga’s ass soon, I’m gon’ do that shit again. Can’t believe he fucking lied on me because his ass got that hoe pregnant. But I’ll show him.”

He pulled a blunt from his pocket and started to light it, but I pushed his torso, feeling his hard abs, even under all the layers of clothing.

“That smoke makes me wanna throw up, Shai, and I throw up enough already.”

“Be lucky I love you, or I would ignore the shit out of your request.”

“Lucky me.” I watched him as he put it into the little baggie he got it from, and slipped it back into his pocket. “So, about the baby, are you sure about everything?”

“Hell yeah I am.” He frowned down at me. “What, you not?”

“No, I am, I am. I mean, when I first found out I was kind of iffy, but now I’m excited about it. Every time we go to the doctor to look at it, I get warm all over.”

Mischief smiled and then bent down a little to kiss my stomach, which was still flat. I was only two and a half months now, and at this rate, I didn’t think I’d be showing anytime soon. The only reason photographers knew I was pregnant was because as soon as the shoot was over, they’d hear me puking my fucking guts out in the bathroom. But the good thing about my field of modeling was that it was mostly my face, so a lot of my jobs I would still be able to do, even when I did start showing.

“You look beautiful as fuck carrying my baby.” He kissed me gently as I hugged his torso. “I love yo’ fine ass.”

“I love yo’ fine ass.” I chuckled just before he crushed his lips against mine.

We kissed hungrily until we heard someone clear their throat. When Mischief and I looked over, we saw a girl holding a baby and glaring. She was short, light skinned, had some big ass bamboo earrings, and her golden blond hair in a messy bun. If she was about to tell me this baby was his, I was gonna go ape shit. My leg already started to shake at the thought.

“Do you need to get by or some shit?” Mischief hissed.

“No, I’d like to talk to her if you don’t mind. And in private, thank you.” The girl handed her baby to another girl standing behind her.

“Nah, you can’t talk to her in private. Whatever the fuck you got to say, you can say that shit in front of me.”

  “I’d like to—”

“I don’t give a fuck about what you’d like! Now you can say what you brought yo’ ass here to say, or you can step!”

Her homegirl watched Mischief lustfully while rubbing the baby’s back, as the one in front rolled her eyes at him. She folded her arms, and then fixed her eyes on me.

“Anyway, my name is Arlette, and that’s my daughter, Ariana. I’m Rico’s girlfriend and baby mama, and Ari is his baby. What I need for you to do, is stay the fuck away from my nigga before I have to whoop your ass.”

Rico was the typical industry nigga, pretending to be single while he had a whole family at home. I was so happy he didn’t get any from me. It was embarrassing for her nigga to be out begging for pussy when he had hers at home. Said a lot about that box she had.

Laughing, I said, “Boo, the only person that wants Rico is you. I have a man, a very good-looking one as you can see here. I only used Rico to text when I was bored. And I could be in a coma and you still would never be able to whoop my ass. Learn to control your nigga because he’s out here playing single. Ya pussy must be weak as fuck.”

She tried to run up, but Mischief mushed her head and she stumbled back.

“Nah, you ain’t about to hit my girl. Get yo’ ghetto ass up out of here. Walking up smelling like the red snapper lunch special from Central Fish.”

Her homegirl and I gasped at Mischief’s rude ass, as Arlette stared up at him angrily.

“Wait ’til I tell my nigga you put your hands on me!”

“Please do. I been meaning to break my foot off in his ass for trying to fuck my girl, so I’d appreciate it if you did send him my way.”

She turned on her heels and snatched her baby from her friend.

“Girl, you gon’ get Rico shot,” the ho
megirl said to her as they walked out. I couldn’t hear Arlette's response, but she was obviously going off.

“Really? The red snapper lunch special?” I looked to him. She did have a bit of a stench, but I didn’t know if it was her, or the outside air flowing in since the door was open.

Shrugging, he said, “When she walked in I swear I thought someone had ordered fish and cocoa butter, until I looked over and saw her ugly ass.”

  We both chortled loudly.

“You are so rude, baby, but I love it. Be rude as hell to them other bitches.” I grinned as he led me back into his studio room. “I can’t wait to confront Rico.”

“No. Don’t. I don’t want that nigga being in your presence again. I have a session with Nuzi next week and most likely he’ll be there. And if I’m lucky, that bop of a baby mama will have him coming to me before then. Matter fact, delete his fucking number out yo’ phone.”

I pulled my iPhone from my pocket, and deleted the contact swiftly.

“What are you gonna say to him?”

“Nothing. I’m gonna beat his ass. Damn, it’s like six niggas I got to fuck up or kill.” He sucked his teeth like he’d just said he forgot to add salt to the cake mix, and not that he’d planned to kill somebody.

“You’ve killed someone before?” I quizzed. I don’t know why I’d never asked. I guess I just assumed he had, but now I wanted to know for sure.

“Yeah. In a drive by, a fight, and when I was eight, my uncle on my dad’s side had me kill this dude for not paying him some money he owed him.”

  “Your dad has a brother?”

“Yeah. He was a banger. Got killed though, like a year after I got put on. He was part of a different blood gang though.”

“Well, whatever you do these days, Shai, remember me and your baby need you.” Him telling me that he didn’t think he’d be here long while we were over in Chicago had me wary ever since.

“And ya’ll are gonna have me.”

  “Promise me.”

  “Laine, I—”

  “Promise me right now.”

“I can’t promise that I’m not gonna die. Shit, what if I get cancer or something?” He laughed, trying to make light of the situation.
