Dead Again

by Lisa Andel

He could tell by my expression that he'd startled me.

"All I'm saying is, I know most of the men that come in here, and I know the ones that get too rough. You look like a nice girl, and with so much human in you, I'd hate to see you get hurt. Hell, maybe I just want to make sure you come back. You'd be good for business."

My heart melted at his proprietary attitude.

"You're the owner.” It was a statement.

He just smiled, and drew a draft for someone else.

He moved off down the bar, after telling me he'd stop back by to check on me.

I turned my stool around and started to check out the other patrons.

There were the usual, the vampires, the werewolves, and the sorcerers. There were also several that I had no idea what they were.

Most of the men looked my way at one time or another. Some with obvious distaste, undoubtedly thinking I was human. Several, I noted, were checking me out with interest.

Jack had been right. They all looked tough, and most of them looked like they were itching for a fight. I wondered if rowdy sex would compensate.

I found that the beer I was drinking was the human version, so I downed it, and turned to find Jack ready with another.

I motioned for him to lean forward. I had something I wanted to tell him without announcing it to the bar.

"You've got a nice place here, Jack. You'll know what to do when I tell you that I'm toxic to vampires."

Jack raised an eyebrow at me.

"There's something in my blood that kills them. Fast. No antidote."

Jack nodded once, then continued looking at me.

"I don't want to accidentally kill anyone. If you need to confirm my statement, call Madge at The Dare."

I didn't blame him when he pulled his cell phone off his belt. I also couldn't hear the conversation he had with Madge, but when he was done, he looked at me with a new respect. Who'd have thought.

"Madge is very fond of you,” he stated, surprised.

I agreed with him. “Yeah, even though I'm lethal."

  "Anything else I should know?"

A few random thoughts raced through my mind, entertaining me. Getting a grip, I decided the place might be rough enough that I should tell Jack the other thing.

"Yeah. Don't worry if I end up dead."

  This really got Jack's attention.

  "Are you expecting to?"

"No.” I scrunched my face up at the thought. “It's just that ... well ... I don't stay dead."

  "What's that mean?"

"I die, I come back to life good as new. Unfortunately some people spend their free time trying to figure out a way to kill me that will make me stay dead. It gets old."

  Of course Jack was fascinated.

"How many times have you died?"

I sighed. “I quit counting after a couple dozen or so."

Jack laughed, and I felt better.

Someone caught his eye further down the bar, and he headed in that direction.

I was getting ready to scope out the crowd again when Jack returned with a shot glass in his hand.

"The gentleman down the bar would like to buy you a drink."

  "Do I want him to?"

  "He's a vamp."

"Discourage him. If he's a friend, you can tell him why."

Jack left and a moment later the guy he'd been talking to eased himself off his stool and came to stare at me.

  "Is it true?"

He was gorgeous. But then, all vamps were. At least all the ones I'd ever met.

"Yes.” I met his eyes, and I felt his power swirling around me. With so much human in me, I was easy prey for his kind.

His eyes roamed down my body, heat building as he looked. I wondered if the guy had a death wish.

"It's a shame,” he said when his gaze returned to my face. He shook his head, and walked back to his place at the bar.

It was a shame. I'd heard that vamps were tremendous lovers.

I reached for my beer, and noticed half a dozen shot glasses, top down on the bar in front of me. I raised an eyebrow at Jack.

"You have several admirers.” Jack just shrugged.

"Jack.” I motioned for him to lean forward, as I leaned in towards him. “I must be socially inept, but I thought if I accepted a drink from someone, that meant I—well, that I'd sleep with him."

Jack tipped his head back, a hearty laugh booming out of him. It took him several moments to contain his mirth.

"They buy you a drink to let you know they're interested. Your accepting it says you'd consider getting to know them better. No promises about sex."

While I was staring at the shot glasses, wondering what I was going to do about them, Jack placed two more in front of me.

"I don't know what to do with these.” Realistically, I figured these guys just wanted to fuck me.

"So have me turn them all over, but not fill any of them."

"If you think so.” I had no idea what would happen next.

Jack turned all the shot glasses over, winked at me, then strolled down the bar, attending his other customers.

I watched the glasses. Nothing happened.

I looked for Jack. He was mixing drinks for one of the waitresses.

I looked back at the glasses.

I drank some more beer, watching the glasses, and waiting for something to happen.

Someone placed their hand on my back, and I spun my stool around.

Standing in front of me was one of the most muscular werewolves I'd ever seen. From my perch on the tall stool, I didn't have to look very far up to see his eyes, but his chest was a massive wall in front of me.

"Care to dance?” His deep voice growled in his chest.

"Uh.” I didn't want to give him the idea that I'd sleep with him.

  "It's just a dance."

  "Well.” He'd crush me.

  "One dance."

"O.K.” On second thought, he likely wouldn't crush me on the dance floor.

What I didn't know was that I'd spend the next two hours on the dance floor. Muscle man was only the first of many to follow. Most of them held me tight enough that I could give a fairly accurate description of what they were packing in their pants. By the end of two hours, I was tired, thirsty, and my feet hurt. All I wanted to do was sit down.

My most recent dance partner, who I'd dubbed in my mind as “Ass Grabber,” stepped away from me, and another set of arms wrapped around my body.

I sighed, and slid my gaze up to his face to tell him to just dance me over to the bar. I opened my mouth to speak, and nothing came out. The guy I was looking up at had the wickedest smile curving his lips. His deep blue eyes shone with a promise of untold pleasures. I was swamped with desire.

"Tell me you're not a vamp.” He had to be. I didn't get this turned on, this fast, otherwise.

  "I'm not a vamp."

  I relaxed against his chest.

  "I'm Trend Delgado."

The way he said his name made me think that I was supposed to have heard of him.

"Is that supposed to mean something to me?” Crap. I hope he's not some guy that killed me, and I'd forgotten.

He raised an eyebrow at me.

  "Most people have."

"Yeah, well, I don't get out much."

"You don't get out much, hmmm. What is your name?"

  "Lisa."

"Well, Lisa, what brings you out tonight?"

I wanted to get laid. I wasn't about to say that out loud though.

"Just felt like living a little."

Trend had danced us to the side of the room towards a booth in a darkened area. He motioned for me to sit, then slid in on the same side that I was on. When his thigh rested against mine, an arc of awareness shot straight to my crotch.

A grin curled the corner of his mouth, and I knew that he was aware of his effect on me. Looking at him I figured it was the same with every woman this man had ever encountered.

A beer appeared before me, and I took
a long swallow before I realized it was other. Actually, it was just what I needed.

I leaned back and found he'd dropped his arm along the back of the seat behind me. I didn't pull away.

He was incredibly sexy, I decided, as I watched him drink from his glass. When he licked his lips the blood rushed out of my head.

I must have made some kind of sound because he turned to study me. He leaned closer, until his face was only inches from mine and I was having trouble breathing.

Then he closed the distance and captured my mouth. His fingers wrapped around the back of my head, holding me to him. His lips were soft, and tasted of the scotch he'd been drinking. He tilted my head, and slipped his tongue into my mouth. Fire raced through my blood, igniting sparks of arousal throughout my system.

He angled his head, and deepened the kiss further. My heart rate accelerated, and I was unable to draw a decent breath. I was becoming lightheaded, but I didn't want to part with the thrill of his tongue stroking against mine.

It took me a minute to realize that he'd drawn back from me. When I finally focused on him, his eyes had darkened to nearly black.

He released my head, his arm glancing across the tops of my breasts as he withdrew his hand. My nipples hardened from that touch. He noticed, his dark gaze lingering on them.

"Finish your beer,” he told my chest.

I would have laughed, if I could have gotten any breath into my lungs to do so. As it was, I nearly dropped my beer.

He watched my mouth and throat as I drank the brew, the tip of his tongue making a slow sweep across his bottom lip. As soon as I set the empty bottle on the table, he took my hand and urged me out of the booth.

"Trend, I need to stop at the bar, and say goodbye to Jack.” What I was really thinking was that I needed Jack to tell me this guy was O.K.

"Good idea.” The look he gave me had me wondering if he had the same idea.

Jack met us at the end of the bar. He looked at Trend first, then me.

"So, Lisa, I see you've met a friend of mine. How you doing tonight, Delgado?"

"Better,” Trend said with a glance at me.

"Can't go wrong with her. Just met her tonight, but I like what I see."

Sounded like high praise to me. Jack looked at me, shook his head, and snorted. “Can't say I'm surprised."

Did I want to know what he meant by that? Oh, what the hell.

  "What do you mean?"

Jack leaned over and whispered in my ear.

"You picked the most dangerous guy in the place. Good man, but lethal."

Trend's eyes were narrowed at Jack when he stepped back from me.

  "Just met her tonight, huh?"

Jack flicked his gaze at Trend. “Yes. You don't have anything to worry about."

With that, Trend placed his hand at the small of my back, and steered me out of the bar.

He didn't even bother to ask me what I was driving. He just led me over to a black Pathfinder, picked me up, and dropped me into the passenger seat.

"So...” I couldn't think of a thing to say to the guy as he maneuvered the vehicle through the streets.

"Yes?” He shot me a look out the corner of his eye. A light rain began, and he switched the wipers on.

"I can't think of a thing to talk about,” I admitted. “You want to tell me about yourself?"

  "Maybe later."

O.K. I slouched down in my seat and watched the rain fall.

By the time we reached our destination I was more interested in falling asleep then anything else.

I got a glimpse of a large ranch house before he pulled into the garage. I got another glimpse of the kitchen and living room as he hauled me through the house to his bedroom.

I was distracted by his ass and legs, to tell the truth. Next thing I knew, he'd picked me up and tossed me onto his bed. He followed me down, and pinned me beneath him.

I opened my mouth to say something, though I wasn't sure what, but his lips came down on mine at that moment and my body flared to life again.

He moved over me with an economy of motion. The hard planes of his chest brushed across my tightened nipples, sending shivers of arousal through me. When the hardened length of his erection pressed against my mound I couldn't move fast enough to get my crotch more fully smashed against it. He ground against me while his tongue plundered my mouth.

Quickly, and with exquisite skill, he removed our clothing. Everywhere his hands touched the need increased, the need to feel him inside of me.

"Trend.” I moaned as his fingers spread my nether lips, testing my readiness.

He speared a finger into my core, my body jerking back against his hand.

He added a second finger, and twisted them while he stroked them in and out of my sheath. I couldn't help but writhe against him.

He removed his fingers and replaced them with the head of his cock. Then he bracketed my shoulders with his arms, and stared into my eyes.

With a grin, he penetrated me.

His cock was hot, and it burned a trail of intense pleasure as it passed over the nerves in my vagina. I wrapped my legs around his back and used the leverage to drive myself onto him. I moaned, already feeling my muscles tightening, coiling.

He went wild, hammering into me with a speed and force that took my breath away. I came, hard, my body jolting and shattering around his cock as he thundered away.

I was screaming incoherently as he drove me from one orgasm into another. Without even slowing, he began spurting hot bouts of cum into my depths. He growled, and his eyes began to glow as he continued pumping.

He shifted his hands to my ass, and screwed his shaft into me in ever harder thrusts. I tried to focus on his eyes, only to find blazing blue light where his pupils and irises should be. The lines of his face were harsh, his expression grim, as he slammed into my cervix.

Another violent orgasm ripped through me, my cunt clamping down around his cock like a vise. He cursed, and I felt the heat of his semen blasting into me.

Still his hips kept thrusting, his cock on fire, and hard as steel. My nerve endings had become so sensitized that the sheer pleasure of him passing over them was almost painful.

He bent his head next to mine, and whispered into my ear. His hot breath on my neck thrilled me, even though I couldn't understand his words. My body convulsed, another climax exploding through me.

I sobbed his name; his body clenched, then he spewed once again against my womb.

Time slowed and stretched. My overworked body felt distant, somehow separate from me.

"Fuck.” Trend cursed as he looked down at me. “I'm going to kill Jack for this."

I took a deep breath, and time sped up to normal.

  "For what?"

Trend's eyes narrowed as he studied my face.

  "You were dead."

  "No, I don't think I was."

"I know dead when I see it."

"Hey, I've been dead enough times to know what it's like, and this wasn't it."

  He blinked at me.

"You've been what?” He glared at me.

"Dead.” What was this guy's problem? “I didn't even lose consciousness."

I was aware that his cock was still buried in me, and that it seemed he'd forgotten about that.

"Just how many times have you been dead?” His words were laced with sarcasm.

"I quit counting after it had happened a couple of dozen times."

  "I'm supposed to believe this?"

"I don't care if you believe it or not."

I wriggled, hoping he'd get the idea to get off of me.

He tightened his grip until I settled down.

"What are you?” His voice was harsh, his tone demanding.

  "I guess you'd say I'm a human who doesn't stay dead."

We stared at each other for several seconds.

"Care to tell me why it matters?” I didn't think I could piss him off any more than he already was.

He jerked his hips forward, driving th
e head of his cock against my cervix. I groaned, and surprised myself by heating up again.

"Because I'm not nearly done fucking you and I'd be really pissed off if you died on me.” He slammed into me again.

I twisted my hips, grinding my clit against the base of his cock. Evidently that was all the encouragement he needed.

  "Lisa!"

Trend shook my shoulders. I smiled at him. At least I think I smiled. He'd been fucking me for hours, and I'd experienced so many orgasms that my body was turning into a slab of mush.

"You think that's funny?” His expression was harsh as he bit out the words.

"I think I've never felt better,” I sighed.

He just shook his head, and to my surprise, pulled out of me.

"Hey.” Not that I hadn't had enough, but I'd gotten so used to the warmth of him, I missed it.

"Hell.” He rolled his shoulders. “You might just be the death of me."

I turned onto my side, and propped my head up with my hand. Dropping my other hand to his stomach, I traced lazy circles there.

"Woman, I've never said this before, but...” he groaned, his eyelids drooping over his eyes as his cock twitched. He whispered to me darkly as he pulled my body on top of his. “Most women would be ... sated after two straight days of sex."

I'd settled my legs on either side of his hips. My breath whooshed out of me when he pulled me tight to his chest, and speared me with his cock.

  * * * *

I woke on my stomach, his body draped over my back, his cock still embedded inside of me.

"Mmm.” I wriggled, and he rolled off to my side.

I managed to flop over so I could look at him.

"How many days have I been here?” Suddenly, it seemed an odd concept to me.

  "Four."

  "Holy shit."

  "My sentiments exactly."

It was the first time I'd seen him smile. A genuine, lighthearted smile, that is, and it took my breath away.

"I haven't felt this good in a very long time.” He brushed the side of my face with his hand.

"Damn it, Lisa, get your ass home! Do you have any idea what you're fucking?"

"Ash?” I rolled onto my back and looked around the bedroom.

"Ash?” Trend levered himself up and grasped my chin, turning my face to his.
