My Heart Speaks

Page 3

by Tanisha Kothari

If you love to come first, but you hate it when you mislay,

Then let me tell you, every day can’t be a good day.

You should be happy when you win and should accept your defeat,

The second chance is always there to make you feel nice and neat.

If you miss it, it doesn’t mean you have destroyed it all,

In the race, it doesn’t matter how many times you fall.

What counts is how many times you stood up after falling down,

And after failing, you should never frown.

When the Beatles performed, judges said they couldn’t sing,

His own father said that Ashoka can never be a king.

Unsuccessfulness is the staircase to the temple of success,

So even after losing, hard-work and God will listen to your request.

  Trust

  Trust is like a string,

If broken; it can’t be re-joined the same way,

There will always be a knot in it,

It can’t be as it used to lay.

So, don’t ever break anyone’s faith,

They believe you with all their heart,

Especially when you are a dear one,

  Don’t let them go apart.

Breaking someone’s confidence is like breaking a heart,

It’s like playing with someone’s feelings,

First being good and then revealing your true colours,

I’m sure such people can’t be human beings.

  Everything is incomplete, without belief,

It is the base of love,

And it is the best thing in the world,

Life is incomplete without these terms spoken of above.

But nowadays, nobody cares about anybody else,

Everybody has to break someone’s trust,

There is no certainty even in love,

  Nowadays, I see only lust.

So, don’t ever break anybody’s trust,

Because when someone does the same to you,

I’m sure you’ll feel the worst.

  Pollution

  Don’t you think, that man,

  Is polluting his own land?

We are taking the tree’s wood,

But later, we won’t get any food.

We are the ones that caused global warming,

And it is us, whom it is harming.

We throw things wherever we like,

And some spread pollution with their bikes.

  We waste paper like anything,

For us, plants and animals are nothing.

  The earth is becoming worse,

But we just think of filling our purse.

The ozone layer will soon finish,

And all the creatures will vanish.

The earth is going to die,

And I’m not telling any lie.

  We human beings don’t understand,

The power God gave in our hand.

  The responsibility he gave,

We don’t even think or behave.

Let’s walk forward, and promise the Lord,

We will all turn around, and live in a better world.

  Drinking

Only alcohol and caffeine it contains,

I don’t know what one gains?

After drinking, sleeping is all you do,

And you think it is good for you.

  Nothing happens, you only forget,

From drinking, there’s nothing you get.

Your tension goes but after that,

  Except for you getting fat.

  Your mind goes wrong,

And you sleep for too long.

  It’s nothing but addiction,

And the uses, there are none.

Destroyed are the children and the youth,

For the world, this is the only truth.

So whoever drinks, please stop it,

You will stay healthy and fit.

  City

I have seen the city and the town,

Then I thought on whom to put the crown.

Situated in the countryside is the village,

And a city, confidence with a little rage.

A city has schools, roads, and buildings that are tall,

Take care, as in the crowd, you may fall.

There are so many hearts that beat,

There’s no place to keep your feet.

There is richness, but also poverty,

You will find everything in a city.

Some people are good, and some are bad,

There is happiness, but also some who are sad.

If there is love, then there is hate,

If there is a hurry, then some are late.

Unlike a town, it is not that calm and quiet,

But to live in the city, you have to fight.

The light of the city and the trust,

The dedication and the will to come first.

Maybe with no harm, the town will make you a good soul,

But with difficulties, a city will make you reach your goal.

Even a town is good, who says there is a race,

But everyone loves their own place.

  Home Sweet Home

Once upon a time there was a house,

  Underneath the pleasant blue clouds.

  It was standing there alone,

Waiting for someone to make it home.

A home where between siblings there would be fight,

And the parents would decide the wrong and the right.

Where there would be a quarrel for the T.V. remote,

And a falling-out over a hundred rupee note.

Where everywhere noise there would be,

And everyone would dance with glee.

There would be arguments including the serious ones,

But they would end in laughter in tons.

It wanted someone who would make it come alive,

It was waiting for someone, who would bring the house to life.

But its wish remained only dreams,

They were like lost light beams.

Whether in the morning you go north, south, east, or west,

In the end, you return to your home as you know it’s the best.

If you are a key, then it’s your lock,

If you are a shoe, then it’s your sock.

Just like the dog can’t live without its bone,

Nobody can live without their sweet home.

  It

If you have it in your feet,

You will walk even in the boiling heat.

If you have it in your eyes,

Then you’ll see above the skies.

If you have it in your nose,

You will smell only the scent of a rose.

If you have it in your mind,

Then, in all, only the good you will find.

If you have it in your brain,

Then you will not panic to start again.

“It” is nothing but your determination,

Your will power for your goal and your dedication.

Fortitude means believing when everyone says ‘No’,

Your body gives up, but your heart screams “Go!”

If you have devotion in your heart,

Then no one can tear your dreams apart.

  A Smile

  A smile can bring happiness,

A smile can make you worry less.

Your tension is cut in half,

If you stay cheerful and laugh.

A smile is the best makeup,

And always smile when you wake up.

Give a smile to those who are sad,

And show forgiveness to those who are bad.

Because the biggest joy is in giving,

Letting others live and in living.

Talk to the ones who sit alone by the side,

Listen to their problems and make them feel alright.

Talk sometimes to the peons in the school,

And at work, to the small servan
ts who clean the pool.

Be positive and believe in who you are,

And if you give your best, your dream is not so far.

So, don’t ever forget to smile,

And happiness will come in a while.

  Colours

Oh! The lovely colour of the blue clouds,

Shows the way to happiness among unknown crowds.

The green colour of the beautiful tree,

Shows how much being natural is necessary.

Not much loved, but the colour yellow is a charm,

It gives light and energy from the darkness’ harm.

A little underrated is the colour of sunset-orange,

Not all endings are bad, you can be low sometimes, for a change.

I don’t understand why even colours are divided in this cruel world,

Yes, boys can wear pink, and red looks good on a girl.

But why among all, are black and white considered the best,

Maybe because they give birth to the rest.

The little peace still there with the positive vibe,

The moon too shines because of the colour white.

Even after all the hatred from the fairs, black’s beauty is beyond thoughts,

You’ll never know unless you uncover the originality behind the dark locks.

I want to show these colours to the hate crossing my mind,

You can see them with your heart even if you are blind.

There are colours for anger, happiness, trust, and sorrow,

Let’s learn everything from the ravishing rainbow.

  Loneliness

  The world seems so quiet,

When there is only darkness and no light.

When there’s no one to hold your hand,

And only you walk on the desert sand.

  The hen without her eggs,

Is as lonely as a tiger with no legs.

  When there’s nobody to talk,

And time goes by very slowly on the clock.

  When there’s no happiness around,

When you can’t even hear a joyful chirping sound.

When the whole world is living cheerfully,

And you have neither friends nor family.

When you don’t see the stars shining in the sky,

You wave to the sun, and he says bye.

You know that you’re not the only one,

To give the wrong answer to every question.

You know that everything is gone,

But you have to move on.

The world may change, and people may act different,

But life doesn’t stop by seeing the environment.

  Loving Yourself

You come into life once, live once, and die once,

Life is too short to be angry, so just laugh in tons.

  Life is like many rainbows,

Not only seven, so many colours it shows.

Sometimes it makes you feel the best,

But sometimes it begins to test.

There are times when you really feel sad,

But remember, it’s always good after the bad.

Even in the worst times, love your life and keep hope,

I’m sure there will be someone to help you cope.

Don’t think that you are fat,

Or that you look like a rat.

Don’t think that you are a boring science chart,

A person is recognised by his heart.

If you are muscular, then don’t stop fighting,

If you are a nerd, then don’t stop writing.

Everyone has a different talent, and one should appreciate his work,

Whether it is driving a taxi or being a clerk.

Just love yourself and be confident,

Everybody who hates you will act different.

  The Most Important Person

Who is the most important person in your life?

I know, it’s your parents or maybe your wife.

The ‘most important people list’ may never end,

But for me, it’s always a true friend.

Without a true friend, you can’t survive,

Without him, you would die being alive.

Friends will always be seen in the light,

But who is true will be revealed in the night.

In the darkness, even your own shadow leaves,

But it is a true friend who always believes.

When you can’t see anything, he’ll show you the world through his eyes,

When you fall, he will give you the hope to rise.

It’s hard to find a friend, who is true,

It’s difficult to pull off him too.

But the impossible thing is to forget,

Because a friend like yours is tough to get.

I think you shouldn’t search for a friend, but be a friend, who is true,

Maybe someone’s search might get over after finding you.

  India

Tourists see the part of India that is shining,

But we Indians know that it is actually pining.

We all know how great the Taj Mahal looks,

But it has been destroyed by scratches and crooks.

For the repairing of monuments, it’s the ministers we blame,

But tell me, don’t you damage it by writing your name?

The libraries in India are so clean,

That the torn pages are always seen.

There are so many potholes on the roads,

And the wrappers, you’ll end up counting in crores.

The congested buses are the worst,

And in corruption, India is first.

No one else but we have made India like this,

It’s us discriminating amongst the poor and the rich.

It’s us who have to clean this sorrow,

It’s us who have to build a better tomorrow.

Come on now we should forget the past,

And make India more advanced and fast.

A Mom Wrote to Her Son

Look! What a mom writes to her son,

“Please forgive me and have all the fun.

Please forgive me for when I get old,

I may become blind or catch a cold.”

“Please take me to the hospital when I get ill,

When you used to get sick, I would go twice to buy that one medicinal pill.

When I’m not able to listen and question you over and over again,

Please don’t leave me alone with this hurting pain.”

“I’m sorry for if I’m not able to walk, please give me your hand,

Remember, I always held you when you were going to bang.

“Please don’t force me to take a shower or wash my face,

When you were small, for a bath you were always chased.”

“Please forgive me if I am annoying to any of your friends,

Don’t remove me from the house and say that this is my end.

Remember when you did the naughty things; it was so embarrassing,

But I never let you down and always treated you like a king.”

The mother gives this letter to the son, and he reads it with love,

He cries after reading the whole letter above.

He tells his mom to never cry and never moan,

“I’ll never let you cry and never leave you alone.”

  I Want to Be

I don’t want to be like Sachin Tendulkar or Amitabh Bachchan,

I want to be brave like Sandeep Unnikrishnan.

He was in the Army and served in it till he was no longer alive,

On the 26th of November, he didn’t think of his life.

After entering the Taj Hotel, he had a fierce gunfight,

Only he was seen, his soldiers were nowhere in sight.

With bullets inside his body, he still tried to save his soldiers,

But then he died, and on his face, there were no fears.

I want to be like Vishnu Dattaram Zinde,

&nb
sp; On the 26th of November, even he did lay.

He was the announcer, so he announced where to go,

Even he was attacked, but to save lives, he didn’t say no.

I want to be like Mohammed Tafueeq Shaikh,

Outside the CST station, tea he would make.

But on that day, he took the injured to the hospital,

Even though, he didn’t know any of the people.

I want to be like the caretakers of the cemeteries,

How much ever you paid or said please,

They refused to bury the dead terrorists there,

They said, “Why should we lay them to rest when they don’t care?”

They all have proved that terrorism has no religion,

True religion is love and peace, not a gun.

  Family

  Some people hate their family,

  They think they’re really silly.

Some say, “My dad is so fat,

And my mom is always like that.”

But tell me, who supports you when you go for a competition?

Who is the one cheering for you when you run?

Who awakes in the early morning to make your food?

And tries to be a friend by saying ‘Hey dude’.

You might have irritating brothers and sisters,

But when you cry, they’re the ones to wipe your tears.

Remember the day you taught them to walk,

When alone, they’re the only ones to talk.

Who’s there to help you when no one is?

Who’s there to wake you up with a good-morning kiss?

Who works the whole day for you and gets a penny?

Who wants to see only your name out of so many?

You trouble your family so many times,

But they will forgive even your biggest crimes.

So, love your family the most,

Because money can’t buy family at any cost.

  Anger

If you have won over being incensed, then you have won it all,

Because anger can control your mind and make you fall.

But if you have defeated it, then you know how to live,

You know what respect is in taking and what joy it is to give.

If you want to move ahead, then control your rage,

There is no difference in wrath and a burnt page.

After doing both, there is no use,

Lots of vation can make you lose.

It’s easy to shout, argue, and regret,
