Hard to Resist

“I certainly will, Keelan Robinson,” she said, smiling through her tears.
“Come here,” he murmured.
And Nataleigh went. She flung herself into his arms and he captured her mouth in a searing kiss that ended the chill of loneliness and heartache and ignited the flames of passion. He finally broke the kiss to draw in a ragged breath.
“I brought one other thing with me,” she whispered, her voice trembling with desire. “If you forgave me, if all our hopes and dreams were truly going to come true then…” She moved out of his embrace to take a fluffy bunny from the sack. “It’s a symbol of our future,” she said, tears brimming again. “For the child we’ll create with our love.” He reached out and took her hand.
“I want to show you something,” he whispered, urging her forward.
They went down the hallway to the room Nataleigh had envisioned as a baby nursery. There on the floor in the empty room, sitting in a glowing circle of sunlight, was a music box with a smiling teddy bear on top.
“Oh, Keelan,” she whispered, then sniffled.
“I don’t know why I did it. You’d sent me away, it was over between us, but I couldn’t let go entirely of my hopes and dreams, of what might have been. Of what will be.”
Nataleigh walked into the room and sat the bunny next to the music box. She lifted the box, turned the knob and set it back into place. The room was filled with the delicate music of a lullaby. She straightened and opened her arms to Keelan.
And there in the room where the miracle, their baby, would sleep safe and warm, they made love. They shed their clothes and reached eagerly for each other, sinking onto the plush carpeting, sunlight cascading over them. They kissed, caressed, rediscovered and gloried in all that they were, all they would give and receive.
He kissed her, parting her lips with gentle resistance, meeting her tongue, heightening their passion. Whispers of hearts grew hotter, burning as hands roamed, then lips followed the path taken. He drew one of her breasts deep into his mouth and her breath caught as wondrous sensations flowed throughout her. She splayed her hands on his moist back, savoring the feel of his taut muscles, inhaling his aroma of fresh air and soap, her heart nearly bursting with love for this magnificent man. They became one, united, meshed in body, hearts, minds and souls. Committed to forever. Believing in hopes and dreams for all time.
The music box slowed, then stopped, but the litany signing in their hearts played on, accompanying them on the journey to ecstasy. They burst upon their glorious place seconds apart, calling to each other, holding fast. Then they drifted down from the exquisite oblivion to a reality that was just as fantastic.
“I love you, Nataleigh.” He moved off her, but kept her close to his side.
“And I love you.”
They sighed in contentment, hands resting on the other. Blissful minutes passed in sated silence.
“Keelan?”
“Hmm?”
“What did you name your dog?”
He chuckled. “There I was again, not wanting to forget you, the way we met.”
“So what’s the puppy’s name?”
“Deon.”
Their mingled laughter danced through the air, filling the room to overflowing as it intertwined with their nearly tangible happiness. There was no doubt in her mind that all of her hopes and dreams were going to come true and Keelan was the man she knew she would achieve them with.
