  They were in the car at a stoplight. When Samantha turned to look at him, all he saw was a halo of shimmery light illuminating her face.

  “Did I do good, honey?”

  “This is gonna make a great story one day. Something we’ll tell the kids.”

  His heart soared. Kids. One day. It couldn’t possibly get any better than this.

  “Hey”—he chuckled—“maybe we can get Ali to tell our story in one of her cheesy romance books.”

  Samantha laughed too. “I know just what to call it,” she said.

  He grinned. “Really? That fast you came up with a title?”

  “Well, it’s not really all that hard. The wedding affair says it all. Don’t you think?”

  The wedding affair. A story about a golden girl and Mr. Charming. Fuck, yeah.
