Stalked

by Chris Smith

Hopkins has since married and is living with his wife and two children—a boy and a girl—in a middle class suburb in the northwest of Sydney. Police say there have been no reports of stalking using a balaclava in his area in the past ten years, nor has Hopkins been named as a suspect in any additional cases of stalking. He did find himself in court again in 2006, on a minor traffic infringement. It could be that Phillip Hopkins’ involvement with Libby Masters proved to be a hard lesson, well learned.

The stalker’s victims have been given fictional names. They’ve been through quite enough.

The stalker’s name is also fictional, to protect the identity of his long-suffering victims.

  ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Chris Smith was born at Parramatta, NSW, in 1962. He has worked as a newspaper, radio and television journalist, covering stories in Australia, the United States and throughout Asia.

He is currently the host of Sydney’s number one talkback show, on radio station 2GB 873, following a successful stint as the station’s Program Director.

Prior to this Chris spent over a decade working in News and Current Affairs at both the Seven and Nine Networks, including a period as national Chief of Staff for A Current Affair. He also became the first foreigner to broadcast live to China, during a two-year stint with China Radio International in Beijing.

He’s been the recipient of awards for journalistic excellence in both radio and television.

The inspiration for this book emanated from a series of stories he produced on stalking for the Nine Network. His first book was a biography titled Beyond Heartbreak: The True Story of Lorraine Cibilic, published in 1995 by Kangaroo Press.
