  “You’re ogling, Laura.”

I snapped my eyes to his. I wondered what he was waiting for standing there at the side of the bed.

“So I am.” No point in denying a truth there was nothing to be embarrassed about. “Take those off.” I pointed to his boxers that I suddenly found extremely offensive.

His smirk was damned sinful as he obeyed and tucked his fingers into the waistband and bent over, removing his shorts. When he stood up I threw my book on the floor and bit my lip. Lord, I liked what I saw. Did I ever. He was long and hard and pointed in my direction. I sat up in the bed, the duvet falling to my waist.

“You’re ogling, Lucca.” It was his turn to gawp.

“Touche.” He climbed onto the bed on all fours, his fists at the side of my leg. “So I am.”

He leaned over and kissed me, whipping the duvet back and wrestling it from under his legs. I giggled as the simple task almost had Lucca beat. I flung myself back on the bed when he finally tossed the duvet to the floor. Lucca crawled over, taking a moment to look at me. I appreciated the concern for my comfort and I gave a short nod of my head, an assurance we were fine.

Trailing a finger down my chest, he watched his hand move. His next kiss was attentive, passionate - full of hunger. His cock rubbed against my belly and his hands cupped around my breasts. Hard fingers pressed into my flesh, arousing me more than I already was, wetness pooling at the very core of me. When he pulled away his face was full of love and reverence.

This man would never hurt me, he wasn’t capable of it.

“Beautiful, Laura...” I was still shy with his plentiful compliments, I wasn’t used to them no matter how they made my heart sing and my body hum.

He sucked my nipple into his mouth, his tongue doing magnificent things to my body. I didn’t want him to stop. He sucked at me harder, fingers digging deeper, getting under my skin as I bowed my back and arched up to him. We hadn’t been intimate until I’d initiated the blow job and it felt like it’d been forever since. I needed the care and attention I knew Lucca could give me.

  “Laura...”

My muffled name from his mouth was strained, like he was holding back. I couldn’t have that, I wanted his wild abandon, the slow dance of his hips to come faster as he smeared fluid across my stomach.

I twined my arms around his neck and whispered in his ear. “Make love to me, Lucca.”

His groan was quiet around my nipple as he moved his legs down from their kneeling position and moseyed in between my legs, nudging my thighs outwards. I was so wet, I wanted him to slip home. No fanfare. I didn’t need the build-up, the foreplay - just Lucca loving me from the inside out.

Lucca pulled his weight up on his elbows, sucked harder then let go of my nipple with a loud pop and came up to kiss me. Plump lips devoured me; long, slow strokes of his tongue against mine had me moaning with anticipation. When the pressure increased against my mouth, Lucca entered me, his thick length filling and stretching. My sigh of pleasure matched his as he sank further inside. I clenched around him as he bumped his forehead to mine, the kiss forgotten, the moment, never.

Lucca took his time, sweeping strokes in and out as he loved me so completely. The heady height he took me to seemed to last for an eternity, a slow orgasm winding up with each stroke. He was loving me like only Lucca could; with everything he had.

It became too much, and I ground my hips upward, the emotion of the moment heightening my need. Lucca picked up his pace, the deep thrusts came quicker, and the friction intensified. Hooking my legs around his waist, his hands grabbed mine for purchase, our fingers knotted together as his chest pushed against me.

“I need you to come, Laura. You feel too fucking good. I can’t take any more.” His mouth latched onto the sweet spot behind my ear.

I was almost there, his low, gravelly words pushing me closer to bliss. He shifted his hips and came at me faster, the rhythm setting me off. I hummed and buzzed with a sensation so intense I found it difficult to breathe. Tight coils of pleasure raced through me when I came hard underneath him. I squeezed my walls around his cock that kept moving. A long, low rumble and a jerk of Lucca’s hips had me moaning as he filled me. He pushed so deep, and stayed as he chased his high and I danced along to mine.

Collapsed and spent, we tangled together in a moment of bliss that brought tears to my eyes. This was where I belonged. Who I belonged with. There was nowhere else to be.

  Epilogue

Shimmied bokeh lights simpered across glass and calm water while muted laughter and voices trailed off in my mind. She stood out stark against all the rest. I saw and heard nothing but her. In a little black cocktail dress with a red scarf tied around her neck, Laura was breath taking. She held tight to her clutch bag in one hand, the cream laminated invite I’d sent her, in the other.

My heart stilled its frantic beats, slowed and pulled steady, in awe of the sight. I daren’t take a breath, she’d stolen them all.

It had been two weeks since I’d seen her. She’d called every single day, it didn’t once make up for the ache I constantly suffered being away from her. Her absence was felt in the bones of my body, in every breath I’d taken. I wasn’t sure my sun would ever rise bright again, no matter how many times she assured me she’d come home. I had been needy and pathetic all the times I’d asked.

But there she was, larger than life, more beautiful and captivating than the first time I’d ever set eyes on her. I didn’t think it was possible. And she was smiling, wasn’t cowering away or trying to blend into the background. No longer a wallflower; now a gorgeous blossom glowing with a confidence I’d never seen from her before.

I moved out of sight, wanting to prolong the moment, etch it into my memory so I’d never forget. To watch her without seeing me. To take my fill of the woman who’d captured my heart and set it free again.

  Laura had come home.

I watched as she handed her invite to Sara, the maitre’d, smiling warmly at her. She spoke, then laughed loudly. I wished I could have heard her, she had a laugh that could keep you warm for a lifetime. My heart ached in a different sort of way than of late. A wonderful way, an exciting way.

Sara looked around the large, busy room. When she locked eyes with me she spoke to Laura and pointed in my direction. My love looked over and her smile faltered as we regarded one another, our connection still very much sizzling, yet tenuous, nervous. I lifted my hand and limply waved at her.

“Go get your woman.” Ryder’s heavy hand came down on my shoulder, briefly breaking my fixated trance.

I didn’t look at him nor acknowledge his words since I couldn’t take my eyes from the woman closing in on me. My heart bounced around inside my chest, my stomach jumped and tilted in all the right ways, my head whooped and hollered with each step she took. I was a mess.

“Hi.” Her voice was steady as she spoke, standing in front of me, a vision of perfection.

  Laura...

I was dumbstruck, couldn’t believe she was here, though I shouldn’t have doubted her. “Are you real?” Oh, for fucks sake. What a prime-time idiot I was, that’s the best I could come up with?

Laura creased up laughing, a carefree sound that shot right through me. The creamy column of her neck, as she tipped her head back, called out to me. I stepped in closer and wound my arm around her back, pulling her flush to my chest. Any distance between us was too much.

“Yes, I am.” On tiptoes she kissed me, never taking her eyes from mine.

  “I missed you, Laura.”

The shy look she gave melted me on the spot as her eyes dipped to the floor, thick lashes fanning the tops of her cheeks.

“I love you.” She kissed me again, her arms coiling up around my neck, pulling me down into her embrace.

All was right in my world. The restaurant around me disappeared and all I saw was the woman in my arms. All I saw was a future with the exquisite creature who was holding me as close as I was her.

  “I’m calling time, Luc
ca,” she said.

Her breath tickled my ear, her heart thrummed with my own; tick tock, like the second hands on a clock - steady, loud, in time.

  “You are?”

Another kiss that stole my breath. The axis my world had tilted on many moons ago righted itself again. It would never shift as long as I had Laura.

  “Time to come home.”

  Sneaky Peek

Book #1.5 of the Razer Series.

  Ryder.

  (Ryder’s story.)

“No, it’s not cheating. That...” she pointed to the spill of ridiculousness on the table, “...is a double fucking life! Now move, let me out of here!”

Taylor shoved me on the chest, but I wasn’t moving. There was no way in hell she was leaving, not a chance until I made her hear what I was saying.

“Nope! Taylor, I know what I’m seeing, and I swear to you, it’s shit. I promise you. It’s not what you think, not what it looks like.”

I sounded like a walking fucking cliché...

Still pushing at me, Taylor started to cry again. “Please move. I need away from you, away from that.”

Her words didn’t hurt at all, no - they cut me open and shredded me to the point breathing was difficult. I dug my heels in, Taylor leaving now would accomplish nothing. I held fast to her wrists again preventing her from pushing me from the bench.

“Stop it!” I hissed, looking around. I didn’t want to cause a scene, more for her benefit than mine, we had to sit and sort through this crap. “Just sit for a minute. Hear me out, okay?”

She sniffled loudly before snapping her gaze up to the shadow crossing our table. I scrambled to push all the illicit images and paperwork back into the folder, so the waitress didn’t get an eyeful and asks us to leave. How on earth was I going to convince Taylor that this was all a mistake?

  Acknowledgements

Behind every book there is a small army. My army is definitely small, but boy are they mighty!

To all the authors who give me countless words to get lost in!

To LJ. I dedicate the ‘c’ word to you, forever and always. Guys, this woman...I swear. Talks me off a cliff every single time I feel ready to jump - and it’s been often with this book. I wrote a sloppy, lazy ending and I’m sure if she’d been closer, she would have bitch slapped me. Understandably so if you’d read the previous ending to this book. No conversation is complete without a gif or two, and they brighten my day, always. I couldn’t do this without you. You’re stuck with me now xx

To Sharon. This woman just doesn’t stop! I may have mentioned that already, it bears telling you again. My technical savvy when I don’t quite get my sentences right, this book would be far less readable without her input. And the work she does for my posts is outstanding. Sharon makes me look like a pro when I’m most definitely not. But woman, you need to slow down! Enjoy your Christmas trip - I have words for you when you return xx

To Emma. My cheerleader, who probably shouts the loudest and bolsters me, I often wonder what she sees, but it must be something because she stands right beside me. We’re coming around to you soon, Em. Get ready xx

To Claire. As always, my voice of reason and ready with the fierce words should I step out of line. Claire, you are one of the best people I have ever met and it’s such a joy having you in my life and sharing everything with you. I’ll be seeing you soon for those hugs that you hate xx

To Susan and Marian. Thank you so much for your beta read of Calling Time. I was nervous sending it, but your feedback was extremely appreciated. Thank you so very much xx

Thank you to Bookaholic PR and Francessca’s PR and Design who took the sting out of cover reveal and release. I was sick thinking about doing it myself again. Claire - I wish you all the best with your venture and hope you have every success

  Fran - You’re a dynamo! Above and beyond x

Massive thanks to Kindle Friends Forever blog and the ladies over there. Again, they have continued to support my writing efforts from the beginning - Sharon, Rachel, Anna, Claire, Emma-Louise, Tracey and Donna. Diamonds x

To the readers and bloggers who are taking a chance on an unknown - thank you so much for picking up Calling Time. I hope you fall in love with Laura and Lucca. They truly are something special.

  About the Author

K A Sands is an exciting new author who has a passion for reading and can be found with her nose stuck in a book much of the time. She loves angsty, dark reads but is not averse to the fun, light hearted side either. Typically, a romance reader, of most genres/sub genres, she loves reading a debut herself. Her passion for the written word goes back to her childhood and she has always dreamed of writing and telling the world her stories.

Not quite a stay at home mum, K A Sands has a busy life which she shares with her husband of twenty-two years and her little monkey boy. Her adult children have flown the coop already, but still manage to come home for ‘mama’s lasagne.’

Avid eater of mayonnaise and chips, anti-get-fitter, lover of cheesy music and a fierce advocate of things close to her heart. She enjoys photoshopping (as opposed to just shopping) and would love to be a whiz using it... maybe one day. She has a bucket list as long as her arm, which includes sky diving and visiting Cambodia. And oh - wants to travel the world.

Great believer in second chances, insta-love (because her love is a product of that), fairy tales and monsters... K A Sands just wants to write all the words for you.
