The Phadh grow throughout their lives and only return to their home planet to die. They are a usually peaceful race, but they won't think twice when challenged.

  Go Back ┘

Pots: Detir and Pots share the same planet and some common ancestry, but they are two entirely different species. Their ancestors were flying creatures that soared the skies of their world while using their endless oceans for reproduction and hunt. But, after one of the many cataclysmic events that changed the geomorphology of their home planet, Pots only inherited their flying ability.

Their hydro-recovery system works slower than their cousins, Detir, but it's easier to activate it, making their intergalactic travels easier. Most of the time, Pots are good politicians and diplomats since they retain a “bird's point of view”, making it easy for them to read the body language.

They have petitioned countless times for a rank in the Five Great, but they are always turned down because they can't work well with their distant cousins, the Detir, who own the military power of their home planet.

  Go Back ┘

Primordial Earth: The origins planet of the human race.

  Go Back ┘

Pyro: A mysterious high ranked member of the Organization, Pyro is the leader of the mission to retake Mosa after its fall from the mysterious disease. Also, he’s one of the most dubious members of the Organization, never revealing more things than he has to.

  Go Back ┘

Renters (Pair): An indigenous species to the Esuh home planet, Renters, were amphibian creatures that always came in pairs. A pair of Renters was the Esuh traditional dish for celebrations and unions. However, when they almost hunted them to extinction, the Esuh started breeding them and changing their genes to make them fatter and more delicious.

  Go Back ┘

Sciri: The Esuh home planet. The Esuh made sure to destroy it when they left in search of a shelter from the Cube’s powers.

  Go Back ┘

Sectors: The Known Galaxy is divided into hundreds of Sectors, making it easier for the council to rule them. New Sectors are added every year, making the council a huge, vibrant association.

  Go Back ┘

Seven Prisons: And sometimes called and seven systems, is some type of Esuh swear. It’s yet unclear why the use of Seven Prison and Seven Systems is that important to the Esuh culture.

  Go Back ┘

Silver: A peculiar and quirky Chronicler’s assistant that has many forms. Her advanced artificial intelligence and her attention to details deem her an irreplaceable assistant to Eladia.

  Go Back ┘

Swamp: Dale Cross’ alias in the Organization.

  Go Back ┘

The Cause: The Organization is following code, a joint purpose called The Cause. Every member has to follow The Cause and its rules or else the other members of The Organization have the liberty to exterminate the Causeless.

  Go Back ┘

Third-Ranked Species: A ranking of the influence of the species comes every ten years, and humanity has reached the Third-Ranked Status the last decade. Since then, humans have become cocky and arrogant, turning many heads throughout the galaxy.

  Go Back ┘

Tidrey: Dog-like creatures that thrived many decades ago on Jasih’s origin planet. Little is known about those fearsome predators.

  Go Back ┘

Timedisol: Some kind of gas that used to induce euphoria but hazed the minds of the Esuh. It has the same effect as alcohol.

  Go Back ┘

Totes: One of the many members of the Known Galaxy Alliance. They are medium-height creatures with antennae to support their eyes. Belonging to the quickly rising members of the Alliance, Totes are quite active in most councils, as well as strong-minded.

  Go Back ┘

  Uncharted Region: see Known Galaxy

  Go Back ┘

Vlatall (Rank 2 Species): Vlatall are tiny, sphere-like creatures that can float in mid-air. Even though some of the first people that discovered the Vlatall thought they were a cute species that could be exploited in markets all around the galaxy, the Vlatall turned out being fierce adversaries.

Vlatall are collective-mind creatures; that means that they all share the same mind through their telepathy powers. That makes them great strategists but also highly religious species. A Vlatall never dies, but instead, it survives in the memories of his brethren. Their religion has inspired many other species to try and come up with an explanation about their telepathic powers, but it's not easy to capture and experiment with a Vlatall.

Their home planet is a gas giant the likes of the Towering Saturn of the Original Solar System. Thus, they're mostly gas-based sentient beings that neither are born nor die. So, the conventional research methods do not allow for their understanding. Still, it is rumored that humans have found a way to contain them and actually grab the second rank from them.

  Go Back ┘

Xioria: One of the barren worlds that Humans colonized in the early days of the Space Boom, Xioria is thought to be a mineral goldmine. After many human changes to the planet’s ecosystem, Xioria is now almost always ravaged by very strong sandstorms that don’t allow for life to develop above ground.

  Go Back ┘

Yaerus: Humanity’s Capital Planet. Unlike Primordial Earth, Yaerus is consisted of 60% water and 40% land, making it an easier place for humans to colonize. The planet has a bigger radius than Earth but retains the same gravitational pull. Around Yaerus, two moons turn in unison, controlling the tides.

  Go Back ┘

Zan: A Primordial Earth resident, Zan is a feral teenage boy that’s adept at tracking prey and hiding in the shadows. Hairier than the typical humans, and with long hands that easily touch the ground, his species has taken a different evolution path to the standard human.

  Go Back ┘

Zeania: The Phadh home planet. Even though the Phadh consider Zeania their first and last home, the planet is just a huge necropolis meant for the Colossi that aren’t able to move anymore. It’s a beautiful, vibrant planet since Phadh don’t allow for outsiders inside it. Also, fire and every other dangerous, environment changing activities are strictly forbidden.

  Go Back ┘

Ziurus: A Planet in the Uncharted Region of the Known Galaxy. Jasih was able to remember that this planet was once colonized by the Nusae, making it a great place to search for more Nusae relics.

  Go Back ┘

The Formers are part of a “first wave” of colonists, whose purpose is to ensure that humanity is not wiped out in the event of another nuclear war. Former is short for Terraformer.

  Go Back ┘

Gauss Weaponry: A type of gun, similar to a railgun, which accelerates a small piece of ammunition to hypersonic speeds, causing it to strike its target with force much greater than that of conventional bullets. Gauss weapons can fire in zero gravity and underwater, and have replaced gunpowder weapons entirely.

Words and Terms from the Erin-Vulur Tribal Language

Burtazzik: An Erinye word that means literally “covered with death”, is used the same as the Panamerican phrase: “Booby-trapped.”

  Go Back ┘

Burug: A large predatory insectoid creature, native to Chalice/Ravanur. Can be anywhere from the size of an average city bus to the size of a small building. The Erin-Vulur hunt them for food and crafting materials such as their chitinous armor.

  Go Back ┘

Chalice/Ravanur: Chalice is a moon of the gas giant Tisiphone, tidally locked into its orbit and permanently on the dark side of the planet, eclipsed from the sun. The Erin-Vulur call the moon Ravanur, and often refer to it as “the great mother”, or “our dead mother”. Chalice is completely encased in a global glacier, giving the false impression that the planet has no terrain. In fact, the planet has valleys, mountains, continents, and seas, but all of these things are currently encased in a seemingly permanent ice age.

  Go Back ┘

The Deepseeker: One of the Elders of the Erin-Vulur ruling council. This ancient shaman has been alive as long as anyone can remember, and frequently ventures into the deep tunnel networks searching for “magicks”, which he brings back and uses to assist his people. The nature of these magicks is as yet unknown.

  Go Back ┘

Dukkar: A seal-like creature, native to Chalice. Raised by the Erin-Vulur to farm their milk and meat. They live in deep crevices in the ice, where nearby geothermal vents create liquid water for them to swim in.

  Go Back ┘

Erin-Vulur: A tribe of the carnivorous humanoid natives of Chalice, whose mythos claims they were brought to the frozen world by their central god, Palamun.

  Go Back ┘

Erinye: pronounced “Ay-RIN-ya”, the name for the overall species of carnivorous humanoids that sparsely populate Chalice, gathered into tribes that live beneath the frozen glacial surface of the moon.

  Go Back ┘

Kazakatta: A ritual tool used by ancient Erinye priests to tear out the hearts of the corrupted.

  Go Back ┘

Ketika: A straight-bladed ritual dagger still in use by the Erinye.

  Go Back ┘

Palamun: The Erin-Vulur name for Tisiphone, the gas giant around which Chalice orbits. This name is often used in curses or epithets by the tribesmen. Palamun is also referred to as “the great father”, or “the veiled one”, and is the central god of the Erin-Vulur religion.

  Go Back ┘

Stormcaller: Acolytes of one part of the three-part Erin-Vulur religion. They can be men or women, though women have the greatest aptitude for the powers bestowed upon them. A stormcaller is largely immune to Chalice’s lethal outdoor temperatures, and can call up specific winds and direct them at their command. Stormcallers can also summon up armor and weapons made of a black ice harder than any steel, which seems to grow right out of the glacier as they need it.

  Go Back ┘

Utrezbekan: An Erinye adjective meaning “damned”.

  Go Back ┘

Vulyak: A shaggy, goat-like creature with a thick wooly pelt like that of a terrestrial yak. They live in small herds in pockets under the ice, where the tops of buried volcanic mountains allow the existence of entire ecosystems in relative warmth.

  Go Back ┘

Vulyak Dwert: An Erin-Vulur phrase that translates to “goat shit”. Usually used as a curse, similar to saying “bullshit” in English
