A Royal Shade of Blue (Modern Royals Series Book 1)

There’s a knock at the door, and my heart skips a beat, knowing that it’s Christian.
“Come in,” I call out.
Christian opens the door, and oh, swoon, looks absolutely sexy as hell in his black suit and red tie.
I rise to greet him, and his eyes quickly appraise me.
“You have never looked more beautiful,” he says softly. “How did I get so lucky, Ace?”
“You stumbled on the right Instagram account,” I tease.
He chuckles, and my spine tingles in response.
Christian takes my hands in his. “Are you ready to share that story?”
I grin. I love that it was Christian’s idea to tell the truth about our Instagram love story. The boy who hid away from everyone has now become a man who wants to share his life with the world—and admit that while royals aren’t supposed to have social media accounts, he did—like the young, modern man he is.
“Yes,” I nod. Then I laugh. “Xander better brace himself for women around the globe trying to figure out if he’s on social media—and how to land in his inbox.”
“That’s his problem,” Christian says, smiling. “Now, there’s one important detail we have to take care of before we face the press in the sunken garden.”
Christian reaches into his pocket and drops down on one knee before me. My heart melts as he takes my hand in his.
“I asked you this question after we spent Thanksgiving with your family in Arizona,” Christian says. “When we were on top of Camelback Mountain, I asked you if you’d marry me. I’m asking one more time, just to make sure, Ace. Aime lyly murrow?”
I burst out laughing as this is the only anagram I have no problem sorting out.
“Yes, yes, I will still marry you,” I say, grinning.
Christian beams as he opens the box and reveals the huge, five-carat ruby encrusted in diamonds. The ruby belonged to Princess Helene, who eagerly gave it to Christian for my ring. King Arthur provided the diamonds that surround the ruby from the royal collection, which melted my heart. It’s truly a ring from the older royals who love us and believe in the way we are going to define our own roles in the monarchy.
He slides the ring on to my finger, and joy fills my heart. I now can wear my ring all the time, which I have been dying to do since he first gave it to me a few weeks ago.
Christian rises and slides his arms around me. “Let’s go share our love story with the world.”
Love for this man fills my heart. “I love you, Your Royal Highness.”
Christian’s blue eyes sparkle back at me. “I love you more.”
I put my hand in his as we walk out of Kensington Palace, ready to share our love with the press waiting in the gardens.
Our story is not a conventional one. We both had to resolve issues from our childhood pasts to become the people we are now. Together, we found ourselves. Our purpose. Love.
Our own version of normal.
I can’t imagine any other love story I’d want to star in.
