“So no sex, but hands are okay?”

Apparently. I rinsed the suds from my hair, “Yeah. That work for you?”

I watched him soap up his balls while I put conditioner in my hair. “Do I have a choice?”

I sent him a playful sad smile. “Not really.”

“Well, lucky for me you give oddly wonderful hand jobs, huh?”

“Oddly wonderful? Isn’t that a skill every girl has perfected by the time she graduates high school?” I grabbed his soapy dick in my hand, stroking him. His head fell back against the bright white tile. I couldn’t help but watch him as I worked him over. He opened his eyes and took me by the neck, dragging me closer to him. He kissed me, deeply. His tongue in sync with the movement of my hand. I started to whimper. I knew that’d been what he liked last night. He loved hearing me get off to touching him. I moved my mouth to his ear. “God, Luke…” I moaned. I made it sound like he was hammering into me, like it was the best I’d ever had.

His hips started to move, taking control of our movements. “Harlow.” His hand on my neck was tightening, his whole body was coiled.

I bit his earlobe. “Don’t. Fucking. Stop.” I whimpered one more time and he came with a strangled cry.

  Chapter Eighteen

  Luke

“Where are you going?” Now that we were both all clean, I had a sudden urge to get dirty all over again. Plus, the thought of her wet naked body not being in here with me bummed me out.

You know what else bummed me out?

The fact that she’d taken sex off the table.

I wanted inside Harlow so bad I couldn’t think straight. But she was probably right; more than fooling around, sex would only make a complicated situation worse. I’d spent the day with her, sitting next to her, flirting, touching. And there were several moments when I’d forgotten that she was just doing me a favor. When I’d forgotten that she wasn’t actually mine to keep.

“I’m going to get out so you can finish showering. I want a nap with my body draped on top of yours.” I would be her mattress all day every day. Sleeping last night with that sexy fairy on top of me was the best sleep I’d gotten in ages. “You better be fast.” I kept my eyes on her ass until she covered it up with a towel. She laughed when she saw me still watching her. “I mean it, Luke. Hurry up and shower.”

“Lukey. Get your ass out of the damn shower. It’s almost go time.”

I grinned as I shut off the water and stepped out of the small motel room tub. All my dreams were finally coming true. I was on tour with my band and Lexi was front row every night taking pictures for us. “I’m done. Give me five and we can go.” We were playing nothing but small bars in college towns, but at least we were playing. And that’s all that mattered to us.

Lexi poked her head in the door, smiling. “You’re the most responsible person in this shit show and you’re the only one who is going to be late for sound check.”

When she shut the door again, I dropped my towel and got dressed. When I came out she was standing by the door, a beer bottle to her plump lips, looking sexy as hell. Lexi and I were still just friends. But I was really hoping that after this tour was over things would be different. I wanted to show her that I was going somewhere, show her that I actually had a future in music.

  “You look hot.”

Both of us dated other people on and off; none of our relationships ever worked out for long. Me, because chicks kept screwing me over. And Lexi? She picked the worst guys to date but she always dumped them right before things turned messy. I had been sure that I was going to get a call from the police station with the last guy. I thought Lexi was going to end up cutting off his balls. I lay awake at night hoping that we never worked out with other people because we were destined to be together.

She came across the room and handed me her beer and gave me a peck on the cheek. “As do you, sir.”

I took the cold bottle from her and swallowed a long gulp. “You ready? You got everything you need?”

She hooked her arm through mine. “I’ve got my camera and I’ve got my gorgeous best friend. What more could a girl want?”

I pulled her close and pressed a kiss on the side of her head. “A stiff…drink?”

She snorted at my joke. “You know me too well.”

I kept her by my side as we walked one block over to the bar where we were playing tonight. “Nah. I know you just the right amount.” I felt invincible with Lexi by my side. I loved her and I would do absolutely anything to keep her happy. Over the past few weeks Lexi and I had become inseparable. We really were best friends.

“You almost done? Did you drown?” I shook my head clear of the memory to see Lo standing outside the shower door, completely naked.

“Uh, yeah. Almost done, Pix.” I stepped under the water, quickly rinsing all the soap from my body. I got out and wrapped a towel around my hips, calling into the bedroom, “You better still be naked.” I felt bad for getting lost in thoughts of Lexi when I had such an amazing girl lying in my bed, waiting for me.

She was covered up in white blankets, her wet hair in a braid down her shoulder. “Get over here. My body’s not going to spoon itself.”

I tossed the towel on a nearby chair and climbed under the covers with Lo. “Come here, you little porn star sleeper.”

She put her head on my chest and hiked her leg up my thigh. “You okay?”

I rested my cheek on top of her wet tresses. “Yeah. Why?”

I felt her shrug in my arms. “You saw everyone today for the first time in months. You saw Lexi and Dash. I just, uh, I wanted to make sure you were good.”

I squeezed my arms around her tighter. “As long as you’re here, I’m going to do just fine.” Seeing Lexi and Dash today had been hard, but it hadn’t been nearly as hard as it would have been without Lo by my side. She was like comic relief in a sad movie. Or sun after weeks of rain. She made everything seem easier. Brighter. Leaving her after New York was going to suck. But I was broken. I loved another woman. And Lo didn’t deserve that. She deserved so much more than me.

  ***

I heard my alarm go off, signaling it was time to get dressed for tonight. But I hit silence. The cool sheets and Lo’s naked ass in my hand felt too good to leave. How I’d slept with her like this and not had a wet dream, I’ll never know.

  “Was that your alarm?”

I didn’t bother opening my eyes. “Yes. But don’t you even think about moving.” I shoved my phone behind my head and under my pillow.

“Your alarm is ‘Caress me Down’ by Sublime?” I didn’t have to look at her to know she was smiling; I could hear it in her voice.

“Yes.” I snuggled in closer, inhaling the floral scent of her shampoo. “And the band can wait on us. I’m constantly waiting on those assholes.”

She attempted to sit up. “Someone woke up in a mood.”

I tensed my arms. “No I didn’t. I told you not to move.” She started to squirm, trying to break free. When I still didn’t let her go, she jabbed me hard in the side, momentarily making me lose my grip.

She climbed on top of me and straddled my body. “Even if it’s to be like this?” She lay flush against me, whispering in my ear.

I grabbed two handfuls of her ass, squeezing. “Careful, Pix. We’re both naked and my dick is hard as a rock.” She said no sex, but if she kept wriggling and ended up skewered on my dick, it would be her own fault.

When my alarm went off again, she jumped up, taking the blankets with her and wrapping them around her body. She started to sing along and dance on the bed like a crazy person. “She told me to come over and I took that trip and then she pulled out my mushroom tip.”

“What are you doing?” My body was bouncing each time she landed and my dick was bobbing in the air, slapping my abs. It was uncomfortable as fuck.

“And when it came out it went drip-drip-drip. I didn’t know she had that GI Joe kung-fu grip.” I reached up and popped her ass and she started to laugh. “I’
m pimpin’ joy. Turning your frown upside down. Putting a little pep in your step.” She bounced two more times.

I jackknifed up fast and tackled her down to the bed. “That’s enough fairy dust.” I climbed on top of her but shifted so that my hard-on wouldn’t touch her. “Did you have a nice nap?”

She looked me right in the eye. “And it went uuh, and the girl caressed me down, uhh, and that’s that loving sound.”

I grabbed my phone and turned off my alarm before the next verse started. Then rested my forehead on her chest, laughing. “I take it you’re a Sublime fan?”

She ran her fingers through my hair. “Uh, who isn’t a Sublime fan?”

  I dipped my chin. “Lex.”

Lo pulled my face up so that we were looking at each other again. “Then she doesn’t know what she’s missing, Luke.” The moment was heavy, but when I tried to glance away, she wouldn’t let me. “I mean it, kid.”

I smiled and kissed her lips softly. “Thank you.”

I climbed off her and headed over to the large walk-in closet. I needed some space. Her little song and dance had made me smile so big that my cheeks hurt. But her words? Her words had caused my chest to swell. Harlow was everything good in this world, and I was using her. She’d agreed to it, but I was still the asshole that’d needed saving. I grabbed some jeans and a well-worn pearl snap. I turned and looked over at her clothes. “You wear a lot of skulls for such a happy little fairy.”

She snorted. “I packed all my most rocker clothes. Pisses my dad off.” She pulled out a gray t-shirt with a black skull wearing a crown, and a pair of ripped black skinny jeans.

“Aren’t you a little old to be trying to stick it to your daddy with the way you dress?” Both of us got dressed in the closet like it was the most natural thing in the world.

“No. Aren’t you a little old to make up a fake girlfriend to save face with your friends?” She walked out and I followed her into the bathroom, appreciating the way her butt looked in her skintight pants.

“Touché.” I pasted my toothbrush and did the same to hers before handing it to her. We brushed our teeth side by side then I sat on the counter and watched her put on a little makeup. “You’re gorgeous.”

She smiled. “Thank you.” She dug around in her bathroom bag and pulled out a few different long necklaces and slid them over her head.

I hopped down and walked up behind her, resting my chin on her shoulder. “Why don’t you have a boyfriend?” I studied us together in the mirror. We each had blonde hair and light eyes. Hers green to mine blue. Her skin was lighter than mine. We’d make pretty babies. What the actual fuck? That’s not what I meant. I meant, we were both attractive people and separately we’d make pretty babies. With other people. Thank God I did not say that shit out loud. Her hand jobs were scrambling my brain.

“I’ve been let down by a man my whole life. I’m not ready to add more disappointment just yet.” She’d said that a few times now and each time it was sobering. Each time it reminded me that I wasn’t the guy for her. I refused to be another man who hurt this vibrant, kind soul.

All that aside, I still wanted her to believe there were good guys out there. There was someone for her, someone that would treat her right. Cherish her heart. I put my hands on her narrow hips and spun her around to face me. “Not all men are going to let you down, Pixie.”

She shrugged. “Yeah, well. We’ll see I guess.”

My phone rang on the counter, Lexi’s face lighting up the screen. I hit accept and then put it on speakerphone while I started to fix my hair. “What’s up, Lex?”

“The sitter got here early for the girls. Y’all want to meet us down at the bar for a couple drinks before we head out?” Surprisingly I was looking forward to seeing everyone again. There was no fear, no trepidation.

I cut my eyes toward Lo. “You good with that?” I found myself really caring about her answer. Like if she didn’t want to meet for drinks with my friends, I would have been fine with skipping it. I chose to brush that thought aside; no use analyzing the things that could confuse you. Right?

She nodded, answering Lexi for both of us. “Yeah, we’ll meet you down there in ten?”

“Sounds good.” Lexi hung up and Lo went back to putting waves in her long hair with a wand.

I wrinkled my nose. “That thing looks like a dildo.”

She held it out, assessing it in the mirror. “Huh, it kind of does, doesn’t it?” She wrapped another long strand of hair around it then let it go just as fast.

“You have one like that?” I stepped forward and put my hands on her ass, something I’d been itching to do since she’d painted on those jeans. “Will you think of me now? The next time you use it?” I moved her hair to the side, placing a kiss on her neck. I looked up, watching her reaction in the glass.

Her smile turned wicked. “I actually don’t have one like this. Bend over, tell me if you like it.” She spun in my arms and I ran out of the room.

  Chapter Nineteen

  Harlow

Luke looked good. All the time. It didn’t matter what he was wearing or how his hair was styled. He just oozed sex appeal everywhere he went. That was something I’d noticed about him while we were sitting on the ground outside our hotel the other night. Terry cloth robe and on his way to hung over, but he still looked every bit the rock star he was. Now walking up to the hotel bar, seeing the rest of the Devil’s Share members all dressed and ready to go, I could tell he wasn’t the only one. All the men were sexy and confident and full of playful smirks. Life must be good for this crew.

Jacks held his hand up, asking for a high five from Luke. “Late for a reason, bro?”

Luke slapped his hand. “Yeah. Lo tried to stick a giant hot dildo up my ass.”

“Is that your thing?” Jacks’ eyes were wide. What thing? What was he talking about?

Luke ignored him and ordered us each a drink. I sat down in an empty chair next to Bryan. She was dressed in boots and jeans, wearing what appeared to be a vintage Nirvana concert tee. “I love that shirt.”

She looked down. “Thanks, it’s Jacks’.”

I pulled at the fabric; it was pretty tight on her. “Really? That fits him?”

Lexi leaned back in her seat, laughing. “None of his shirts fit him.”

I spun in my chair, searching him out. “Oh my gosh, you’re right. How did he even get that on?”

“How did you get those pants on?” Jacks heard me talking about him.

I glanced down at my favorite black, ripped, skinny jeans. “You think they’re too snug? Should I go take them off?” Everyone in the group said no at the same time, even Jacks.

Luke stepped in between my legs and leaned his body weight against me, his hands on my thighs. I wanted him to pull me forward. I wanted his hard against my soft. His palms slid forward, coming closer to where I needed him. Wanted him. “Those jeans are fucking perfect,” he whispered so only I could hear. “But if you want to go upstairs and take them off, I’m game.” He nuzzled the crook of my neck and then growled. Yep. I desired nothing more in this moment than to go back to our room and toss aside the no-sex rule. But I couldn’t do that, not if I wanted to survive this.

I laughed and went to push him off me. “Are you ever not horny?”

“Don’t act like you’re not wet right now, Pix.” He winked. And he was right.

After one more round and a lot more laughter, the eight of us loaded up in a limo and headed to the show. Lexi was pretty much sitting in Dash’s lap. Same with Dylan and Smith. Jacks and Bryan were sitting like normal people, but I was pretty sure they were sexting each other. Both their thumbs were flying and they both wore wicked smiles. No wonder Luke had needed an escape. There’s being around couples, and then there’s being around couples. If I hadn’t been sitting next to him, he would have been the most obvious fifth wheel ever.

“Luke, I talked to Ams a few days ago, she wants to meet up with us back in Texas when this promo is over.” Lexi too
k some lip-gloss out of her purse and smoothed it on. “When I told her I got to hang out with your girlfriend today, she was pissed. You know, since you never even told her you were dating someone.”

Luke shrugged. “I told you the other day that—”

“I understood why you didn’t tell me, I mean you didn’t tell me anything you were up to in Costa Rica. But to not tell Ams?”

It took a few seconds for her words to register in my brain. It took even longer for me to figure out who Ams was and that I should probably react to this discussion they were having around me. The car was silent, so I decided to go for it and act like any other chick would. I turned to Luke and slapped him on the arm. “You didn’t tell your sister we were dating? What the hell?”

His eyes got wide; I’d shocked him and I had to bite the inside of my cheek to keep from laughing. “Oh. Uh, I, um. Yeah. I guess I forgot.”

I scrunched my nose, mainly to hide my smile. “You forgot? Wow. Glad our relationship is so important to you.”

Luke’s mouth opened and closed a few times, and he glanced nervously around the car before meeting my eyes. When I raised an eyebrow, he accepted my challenge. “Baby, I’m sorry.” He put his hand on my thigh and started rubbing. Caressing, really. He was punishing me back. “I knew we’d be coming back to the States, I just wanted you to be able to meet her in person. You’re so fucking perfect, my words could never do you justice.”

I hid a snort behind a sniffle then put on my sappiest smile. “Really?”

Jacks whispered nice under his breath and fist bumped Bryan on the sly.

Luke put his finger under my chin and lifted my face. “God’s honest truth.”

My lips twitched with anticipation. I loved watching Luke squirm. “Does that mean you want me to meet your sister?” I’d never wanted to play this part. I thought we’d be able to get away with just hanging out together and flirting a little. But these people were nosy AF; everyone was in everyone else’s business all the time.
