Purring with His Mate (Miracle Book 1)

The grin he got in return made it completely worth wasting his time looking for spirits that weren’t there. “Good,” Hudson said before following Kellach out the front door.

Lucca took Jari’s hand and led him up the stairs. “We’re heading to bed.”

Nole glanced around the now empty room. “I would ask if it was me that cleared the room, but if it means some alone time with you, I’m not going to complain.” Nole slid his arms around his mate and leaned up on his toes to plant a kiss on the man’s lips.

Instantly he was wrapped up in Edrick’s strong arms and held protectively against his mate’s body as if he were the most precious person on earth. Damn, but he could get used to this.

“Tell me again,” Edrick murmured against his mouth.

Nole knew exactly what his mate wanted to hear. “I love you, Edrick Rapp. More than I ever thought possible to love another person.”

It was true. As scary as that idea had been to him when he met Edrick, now that he admitted it to himself and his mate, Nole found the thought comforting instead of terrifying. The knowledge that Edrick felt the same only made it that much better.

“I love you too, my little mouse.” Edrick took over the kiss. Nole had to grab onto his mate’s broad shoulders when Edrick’s tongue danced along his, and his knees threatened to buckle.

The next thing he knew, he was swung up off his feet and into Edrick’s arms. He heard the purring that he loved so much as he leaned against Edrick’s chest. For once, Nole didn’t complain about being able to walk. Why would he, when he was happy right where he was – in his mate’s arms?

In this crazy world they lived in, where they were hunted for being gay. It wasn’t safe. Yet here, in his mate’s strong arms, Nole felt peace, happiness, and love. Tomorrow they would plan to attack his former colony. The day after that most likely would bring another catastrophe with so many after them for being gay. So Nole was going to grab hold of every moment he could with his mate and enjoy them.

Who would have thought that his mouse would feel most content curled up with a purring mountain lion?
