Then I stand up, my face registering great concern.

The therapist reaches her and says something into her ear. He lifts my mother and starts moving her toward the exit. She takes one last look at me.

“Why not?” I turn and stride out of the room.

  Acknowledgments

This book was so interesting for me to write. I read numerous books on sociopaths and did research on other elements that came into play. People really do have so many different sides to them, you never know the truth of a person until you do and sometimes it’s too late. I loved that I grew while writing such a twisted little story.

So I know what you’re thinking, what the hell? Where did this story come from? Well there is a song called Quiet Lies by Matthew Mayfield and I heard it while I was in the middle of Razorblade Kisses (he has a song by this title as well) and an entire story formed in my mind. It was a story about a broken woman who was doing the best she could while being married to a sociopath. I stopped listening to it halfway through because I was so inspired, but I couldn’t write this story at the time. When I was in the final stages of Sunshine & Whiskey I listened to Quiet Lies again and Rebecca called me to play in her world for a bit. It is an ugly story. It’s a scary story, but it’s hers. I want to thank Matthew for being an inspiration to my writing. His story, his music, his voice causes these characters to fill my head like a crazy person. I see him in concert every time he comes to Eddie’s Attic. Every time I leave with a different new story percolating.

I have to say that I have such a strong supporting cast they make the writing part so easy.

Ellie of Love N. Books, you are a unicorn and believe in my writing. I really don’t think you know how much that means to me. Thank you for wanting to share this with the world, I’m not sure they will thank you for it. You also rocked it with editing this little story and helped me create the perfect picture for readers. Donna came in for the last round of proofing and I’m so glad she did. Obviously, I knew I wanted this book to say and she helped me see those last bit of errors I kept reading over.

Kiki, I know I give you the hardest time because I’m unexplainable and it’s your job to help “sell” me. It’s hard to sell something if you never know what you’re going to get. I appreciate everything you do for me, even just the patience you have to deal with all my wackiness and craziness.

My beta readers—Katie, Emma, Stephanie, Michelle, Kelly, Sherry, Kelei, Donna and Jill—you are rock stars. I love every piece of feedback you gave me on this story. I need all of it, you make me a better writer and I appreciate each and every one of you. I can always count on my mom to help me make my books better. I appreciate her honesty and candor with me, she never uses kid gloves, I wouldn’t like it if she did.

Bloggers help the word get out for all books and the fact that some take the time to read and review and promote my books is so humbling. I appreciate every single person who takes the time to write a review for any of my books, but there are some ladies out there that support me so much. A huge shout out to Jennelyn, Tray, Desiree, Yaya, Grace, Shamika, Ria, Amber, Jenn and Donna. I couldn’t do what I do without each and every one of y’all.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the amazing talent of Michelle Carroll of Silver Plum Creations who created the perfect cover for this book.

Most importantly, my family is so supportive in this endeavor. My mom, dad and sister all read my books and give me feedback as to whether the story is even worth a shit. My husband and kid put up with so many things I won’t even waste your time with it all, but without them I have nothing. I would have no love to draw from. I would have no laughs to incorporate. Thank you for giving me everything I never thought I deserved.
