Jazeera is a fictional story inspired by multiple true events, especially those related to the Murud Janjira Fort in Maharashtra. This book is an amalgamation of stories, both fiction and fact, that I read, heard, and discovered while pursuing my two passions: reading and travelling.

I grew up reading fascinating stories about warriors and forts, particularly, those involving Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and his band of soldiers. My young impressionable mind was deeply affected by their bravery.

This piqued my curiosity, and in my adulthood, I ventured out with my pack of friends to explore the forts that I had read about: Raigad, Sinhagad, Daulatabad, and so on. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my childhood friends, Shardul, Kaushik, Kunal, Omkar, and Rahul for those priceless memories, which formed the foundation of this book.

Years passed, and I continued reading, trekking, and travelling. Apart from exploring forts in Maharashtra, I also ventured out to forts in Rajasthan and Telangana. They were equally intriguing and mesmerising. Gradually, my curiosity and interest started taking the shape of a story, which blossomed into Jazeera.

Furthermore, I would like to thank the acclaimed authors, Amish Tripathi, Devdutt Pattnaik, Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, and Medha Deshmukh-Bhaskaran, as their stories inspired me to write a historical fiction novel, and Sun Tzu for The Art of War, which helped me understand the nuances of war.

Most importantly, I would like to thank my wife, Shilpiya, for her constant support during the writing process and for editing this book. We had intense discussions and arguments while bringing this story to life, and as usual, had a lot of fun in the entire process.

A big shout out to all my readers and well-wishers who have continued to support my writing journey. I am grateful to them all.

Also, thank you to you for investing your time in reading this book. If you liked reading Jazeera: Legend of the Fort Island, please share your review on amazon.in.
