  Chapter 1

  (Evan)

Walking into his apartment, Evan slammed the door harder than necessary and tossed his keys into the wooden bowl on the table by the door. His jacket flew next. Then he kicked off his shoes and slammed them under the table. He was angry. It seemed that he stayed angry a lot these days and he could not keep it in check. This time it was over Benji’s good fortune in finding Glenda.

Benji was Benjamin Rathbone, Evan’s neighbor and good friend. Benji seemed to have it all—everything he wanted or needed just seemed to fall from the clear blue sky and land in his lap, whereas Evan had to try and try and try to get something worthwhile in his life.

Now, Benji had invited him out to dinner tonight…and Glenda would be there. What was it? Did Benji want to rub it in Evan’s face that he had the perfect steady woman in his life?

His tie arced through the air and landed on the kitchen table. He’d pick it up later. Right now he needed to get his shit together before going out to dinner with Benji and Glenda.

If he took one of his many booty calls with him to dinner, at least the table would be even and he wouldn’t feel as much like a third wheel—the pity party who can’t find a steady woman of his own.

He slammed the bathroom door and stepped into the shower.

Oh, what fun this dinner was going to be if he couldn’t find someone to take along!

After the shower, Evan went through his list of names and called a few of them. None of them answered—other plans, other men, other somethings going on, he figured.

Looking into the mirror, he said, “Well, I guess it’s just us and them tonight, Evan.” Chuckling wanly, he shaved and readied for the evening out. Might as well get it over with. Sooner was better than later.

Sitting at the short end of the kitchen table in one of the nice, cushy chairs that he was rather proud of, Evan stared at his phone as if expecting it to ring at any moment—a last minute change of mind by one of his many women to save him from being the third wheel at dinner.

No such call came through, however, and Evan sighed dejectedly as the time to leave crept closer.

Why should it matter that Benji had a steady woman? Evan had women; he had plenty of women. Most of them were more beautiful than Glenda, too. Wasn’t that every man’s dream? To have lots of women; to change sex partners as often as he liked; to have a beautiful, sexy woman to show off no matter the occasion? Yes. That was every man’s dream, and Evan was living that dream.

  Wasn’t he?

Wealthy, successful, handsome, well-built, good sense of humor, silver-tongued, and with a hell of a personality—Evan Raymond Hensley was the one other men wanted to be and women wanted to be with.

But there was something about Glenda that surpassed all that and made him jealous of Benji. Evan had never had a steady but he had regulars.

No. That made him sound too much like a hooker. He shook his head and carried his tie to the bedroom and tossed it over the peg inside his closet door.

It was time to go and he was dateless.

Stepping into the over-sized hallway, Evan grimaced as Benji’s door flew open and a giggling Glenda emerged, Benji grabbing at her ass and laughing right behind her. Evan sidestepped as Glenda turned to playfully slap at Benji’s hands and trotted backwards in his direction.

She had a nice ass and nice legs, Evan noted as he quickly eyed her. Still, his girls were far prettier and sexier than Glenda. Nothing there to be jealous of; at least that’s what he tried to believe.

“Oh! Great, Evan. You can ride with us to the restaurant, if you want, man.” Benji stopped playing with Glenda and extended his hand for Evan to shake.

Looking at his friend’s hand, which had very recently been on Glenda’s ass, Evan gave a crooked grin and shook with Benji. “No, man. I’ll take my car. I might not come straight home after. I think I’ll go see Brea later.” Really? Why the hell would he want to ride in the backseat of Benji’s car and have to see and hear the front seat conversation and foreplay? Stupid, Benji, Evan thought, but didn’t say.

Nodding and smiling broadly as Glenda moved to his side, Benji said, “All right. Suit yourself, man. We’ll see you there.” He didn’t wait for a response, but immediately smacked Glenda on the ass and then chased her to the elevator.

Without an expression, Evan watched the exchange until the elevator doors cut them off from his view.

Shaking his head, he started for the same elevator. Muttering and grumbling under his breath, Evan punched the button to call an elevator. “Acting like a couple of teenagers. Sickening shit.”

In the elevator, Evan couldn’t help but recall all the things Benji had that were just a bit better, bigger, or more expensive than he had. From day one, it was as if Benji had a lifelong dream to fulfill: be better, have better than Evan Hensley. Was Benji really a friend, or was he a nemesis?

Shaking it off, Evan stepped from the elevator and into the parking garage. As he walked to his own car, he saw that Benji’s car was still parked in the dark slot diagonally across from his car. Maybe Glenda had insisted on taking her car. Did she have a car? Evan didn’t know for sure, but thought she must because she came to visit Benji every damn evening and left at midnight on the dot every fucking night.

Evan knew this because he could plainly hear everything that went on in their apartment if he happened to be in his kitchen, which butted up to their bedroom and bathroom.

  Chapter 2

  (Evan)

At the restaurant, Evan sat across from Benji and Glenda, watching them without comment as they flitted and flirted through the courtship dance. His stomach turned and he couldn’t keep from rolling his eyes a few times.

While waiting for their entrées, Evan looked more closely at Glenda: the way she focused on Benji when he was paying attention and the way she scanned the room out of the corner of her eyes when he wasn’t, as if she were looking for something or someone and didn’t want Benji noticing.

While he was watching her odd behavior—her sneaky behavior—Evan realized that she was really very pretty. The up-curve of her full lips, the button nose with a slight uplift at the tip, the dainty chin, perfectly shaped face, and her blemish-free face. Even without an inch of makeup on her face, she was actually quite breathtaking.

Several times, she caught Evan staring at her intently. Every time, he smiled politely, but quickly, and averted his gaze as if interested in someth
ing in another part of the restaurant.

Benji was paying little attention to either one of them—he was glued to the screen of his phone. That was proof to Evan that having a sexy, devoted lover wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. If it was, Benji wouldn’t be ignoring Glenda to text someone else while they were on a date.

As if reading his thoughts, Glenda smiled broadly at Evan and put her forearms on the table, leaning toward him. “So, why don’t you have your phone out while we’re waiting? They said it would be at least twenty-five minutes.”

Leaned forward, she was nearly showing her tits. Evan could see enough of them to arouse his curiosity and his interest. He made no pretense about staring at what was exposed, either.

Benji, without looking away from his phone, answered for Evan. “Because he’s expecting all the big contracts to come his way with minimal effort on his part—just like they always seem to do. Right, Ev?” Benji chuckled dryly and shook his head a bit as he typed.

Wanting to snark back at Benjamin, Evan took a deep breath and averted his internal auto-responder instead. Glenda didn’t laugh, either. She looked at Evan with a mixture of shock and maybe some expectation. Most people who knew Evan would expect him to retort hotly, but tonight, Evan was becoming more interested in Glenda than in what smartass comment Benji tossed out there.

Looking directly at Glenda and smiling, Evan said, “Actually, I just have more manners and more respect for my dinner companions than to sit there oblivious.” He winked at Glenda.

She giggled and nibbled at her lower lip, but didn’t blush. Fingering the necklace pendant lying against her chest, Glenda smoothly lowered the already-plunging neckline of her dress as she leaned near Benji and tried to see what he was typing.

Shooting her a neutral look, Benji darkened the screen on his phone and gave her a quick kiss on the lips as he pushed his chair back and stood.

“Where are you going, Benji?” She pooched out her bottom lip in a pout and uncrossed her legs.

“If you two will excuse me, I have need of the men’s facility. I’ll return shortly.” He looked at Evan and said, “I take it that you can entertain the lady in my absence?” His grin and wink took Evan off guard.

Nodding, Evan answered, “Of course. No problem at all.” Indeed, it was no problem; it was exactly the opposite now that he’d had a glimpse of the goods.

Glenda stood to face Benjamin. “I have no say in much, do I, Benji?”

“I’ll be right back. I promise.” With one finger, he reached out and pulled her neckline down farther as he leaned in to kiss her again.

She didn’t bother to fix the neckline of her dress before sitting again. From the luscious bounce and jiggle, Evan knew she was not wearing a bra. As she situated in the chair, her nipples hardened against the filmy fabric.

Desire stirred in Evan’s midsection and he shifted uncomfortably in his seat.

Should he also leave? No, that would be rude. He stayed at the table with Glenda, unsure how to start a conversation with her. That was unusual for him; he never had problem talking to any woman in any situation—and he’d been around semi-celebrities, CEOs, and models. Glenda was none of them, but he still couldn’t muster an idea for a conversation with her.

Looking over her shoulder, Glenda huffed and flapped her hand in the direction of the restaurant’s second entrance door at the side. Evan followed her gaze and saw Benjamin pass by the smaller window there, heading into the alleyway.

Taking a long drink of her wine, Glenda looked at Evan and said, “You know, if I didn’t love him so much, I would take that the wrong way and leave here with you.”

“Maybe he had to go back to the car for something. He’ll be back any minute.” Evan didn’t know if that was true or not, but he didn’t know what else to say to her. She looked miffed but not dejected or overly-angry by any means.

Smiling, she winked, and took another drink of wine. “That was sweet, Evan. But, when was the last time you knew Benji to forget something in his car—or anywhere, for that matter?” She studied him intently, still wearing that smile.

“I don’t know; I don’t usually keep that close of a tab on my buddy.” He chuckled and watched as Glenda traced the rim of her wine glass with one delicate finger.

The slow, somehow seductive circle she kept tracing held his attention as he wondered what that finger would feel like against his own bare skin.

  Chapter 3

  (Evan)

Evan chose to ignore that Glenda had just openly told him that she would have went home with him if she weren’t in love with Benjamin; it was said in anger probably and nothing would come of it.

Or would something come of it?

Glenda regaled Evan with tales of her and Benjamin’s adventures since they’d been together. Benjamin had taken her on several overnight trips to places she considered romantic. All the little stories were tinged with sexual overtones. They were often overcome with lust for each other in public, it seemed.

Several times, Evan tried to turn the course of the conversation to something less sexual, but Glenda always seemed to navigate them back into the steamy landscape with ease.

Finally, she told him, quietly of course, the story of one such episode that ended with the hotel’s room service man joining them in a threesome. Her details weren’t extremely lewd or crude, but they were descriptive enough that Evan’s body began to react. As the waiter brought out their plates, Evan shifted in his seat so that his erection wouldn’t be noticed.

Glenda texted Benjamin that the food had been served and then put her phone on the table by her plate. “We should go ahead and start; it might get cold before he returns.”

“Sure. I don’t want cold food.”

Evan watched as Glenda dropped her napkin and bent to pick it up. The scoop neckline of her dress fell away from her breasts, exposing them for a brief moment. Evan’s erection throbbed.

A sense of loyalty to Benjamin kept him from trying to score with Glenda. The stories she’d shared, especially the last one, seemed as if she were trying to garner his sexual attentions, though. As he scooted up closer to the table, Evan thought about Glenda on all fours, under the table giving him a blowjob as she’d said she had done for Benjamin only a week ago.

Why hadn’t Benjamin ever told any of these stories? Most men share at least some of the details of their sexual conquests with friends. However, Benjamin had said nothing. Maybe he’d thought that would entice his playboy friend to take an unwanted interest in Glenda.

  He would have been right.

Benjamin entered through the same side door and waltzed to the table, seated himself, and acted as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened at all.

“So, did everything turn out all right? Are you ill?” Evan shot Benjamin a hot look.

Grinning tightly, Benjamin answered, “More than all right, Evan. How did you two make out in my absence?”

Glenda slid one hand under the table and toward Benjamin. Benjamin started and then chuckled.

Glenda spoke before Evan had a chance. “We made out just fine. Evan is a really nice man, honey.” Her arm moved almost imperceptibly.

Evan wondered if she was only stroking Benjamin through his clothes, or if she had gone into his pants right there in the restaurant, in front of Evan. Why had he not opted for wearing jeans instead of the dress pants? There was too much room for his hard cock to grow in the dress pants—and escaping to the bathroom was out of the question. His crotch would be almost at eye level with every other patron dining in the restaurant and his hard on would be obvious.

Clearing his throat and averting his gaze, even if he couldn’t avert his thoughts, Evan tried to concentrate on the entrée in front of him. It was useless as his erection throbbed almost painfully. He hadn’t reacted like this to a woman since he’d been in junior high.

It was impossible not to notice that Benjamin moved so that the edge of the tablecloth covered his crotch, or that he was tense and forcing a
normal façade as he played with the food on his plate. Glenda’s arm continued to move almost imperceptibly as she ate her food with a completely normal expression.

She could apparently even carry on a conversation with Evan while she was playing with Benjamin’s dick under the table. “So, Evan. Would you be interested in coming over for a movie after dinner? We’d love to have you over.”

Evan glanced uneasily at his friend and then back to Glenda. The tip of her tongue slipped between her lips and nudged at the center of her top lip repeatedly. The expression in her eyes was neutral as she waited for Evan’s answer.

“I’d love to, but I am going to see Jessica after dinner. Thanks, though.” He knew better than to go with them—he’d end up making an ass of himself.

Glenda brightened. “Oh, you can bring her too, if you want. We’ll have an evening of it; drinking liquor and watching movies. It’ll be so much fun.” She winked and made her lips into the shape of a kiss.

That arm kept moving under the table and Benjamin nodded his agreement.

In a voice that was very husky and trembled a bit, Benjamin said, “Yeah, man. Bring Jess on over and we’ll drink ourselves stupid tonight. It’ll be a good way to blow off some steam.” He couldn’t hold eye contact with Evan.

What the fuck was she doing to him under that table? Evan was tempted to drop a utensil just so he could peek under the table and see with his own eyes, but he reined in his curiosity. That was their business. He had finally stopped being uncomfortable with the situation. Why should he be? They definitely were not too uncomfortable. In fact, they seemed to be enjoying it immensely.

“No. That’s okay, Ben. Maybe some other time, though.” Evan stared at his food as he ate.

Glenda giggled. “You know if you two get drinking and are overcome with desire, you can always take ten steps to your apartment for privacy.” She winked at him again and then moved her arm so that it was very noticeable.
