It was without warning, but the new position crashed a flush of pleasure through her core, making her quiver even more. Lucas groaned and started a steady pounding that quickly matched the frenzy that had brought her to climax so fast. She felt his claws come out, gripping her hips, holding her for each slamming thrust. The small pinpricks of pain raced straight between her legs, heightening her pleasure with an aching fierceness. She felt the claws retract and his hand smooth its way up her back. His thrusts were shorter now, deeper, fully inside her and filling her in a way she had only imagined was possible. He was bending over her back, still taking her but threading his fingers into her hair until he reached her head. He grasped a fistful of it and pulled. The slight burn on her scalp again charged her with pleasure as he exposed her neck to him. She could just see him behind her, his face coming closer as he bent to kiss her shoulder.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the canines, long and sharp and white, extending from his mouth and reaching for her. She shivered with anticipation, but when he reached her, he only ran his tongue across the top of her shoulder.

“Mine,” he said, and it was half growl.

Yes, she thought, but she was too consumed to say anything and too held tightly to move. He was inside her, holding her, possessing her. Just when she thought he might delay it further, twin pains pierced her shoulder, and she let out a guttural moan. The pain quickly ramped up the tension low in her belly and pushed her over the edge. A cascade of pleasure pulsed through her body from head to toe. Once his teeth sunk into her, he clamped his full mouth onto her shoulder. He kept riding her while grasping her with his bite and tasting her with his tongue. Suddenly, his body tensed, and his groan worked out around his mouth’s hold on her. His climax seemed to last and last, but then finally, his whole body shuddered, and he slowed. His canines withdrew from her, and he released her from his mouth. His breathing was heavy and hard, but his grip on her hair and hip eased. He gave a long wet kiss to her shoulder, then he pulled back completely, leaving her body and falling onto the bed beside her. Before she could think or move, he pulled her down with him, spooning her from behind.

“Mia, my love, my love.” He was brushing aside her hair, seeking out the tiny wounds he had given her. She was certain they were already healed, or on their way with wolfy fast-healing, but it felt like there was a clean fire burning where he had bitten her. As she lay next to him, it quickly spread, down her arm, across her chest, to her belly and below. Her entire body heated with it, but it didn’t hurt—in fact, she had never felt more alive. She felt his heart beating through his chest, pressed to her back.

  “Mia, my love, say something.”

Her lips were numb, burning with the same fire that had spread throughout her body, but her alpha wanted something from her, and every fiber of her being wanted to give it to him. She twisted in his arms until she could face him and take his cheeks in her hands.

“I am yours,” was all she could think to say. Every cell in her body felt connected to his. This alive feeling, was it the magic? Was it the claiming bond? It had to be. Her body was singing for him.

He was smiling at her with love in his eyes. “And I am yours, Mia Fiore.”

She could feel it: he would forever be a part of her now. It settled her soul in a way so profound, she was in awe of it. It was as though the pain of the claiming had birthed something new in her. Something permanent. It wasn’t a thought or a wish, but a physical thing that bonded them together.

She would always belong to him, and him to her.

“I didn’t think it would feel so… new.” She blinked a couple of times, still adjusting to the feel of it.

He grinned. “Should I have warned you about that, too?”

  “I think you did.”

His smile calmed into something more intense. “I don’t think anyone can ever be prepared for something like the claiming.” He touched the tip of his nose to hers. “Or for falling in love.”

She peered into his eyes. “Did you fall in love? Is it someone I know?”

His chuckle was so deep it shook the bed next to her. “I certainly hope so.”

  She grinned. “Is it Jupiter?”

  “No.”

She pretended to think about it, then arched an eyebrow at him. “Is it a Red pack girl-wolf? That would be very scandalous.”

“No.” He was working hard to hold back a grin.

She wrinkled up her nose. “It’s not Lena, is it? Because she’s like your dad’s age.”

He coughed. “She’s my dad’s sister.”

  “So that’s a no?”

“No more guessing.” He leaned in and gave her a delicious kiss, followed by small nibbles that warmed her heart, and remarkably, other parts of her body as well. She wouldn’t have thought it was even possible, but Lucas Sparks seemed determined to wring every ounce of pleasure from her that he could. Something she could hardly argue with.

“Wait!” she said, both hands on his chest, holding him off from nibbling her some more. “I have one more guess.”

“How about I simply prove my love for you instead?” His alpha eyes were blazing for her.

She decided that was an offer she would never refuse.

Mia and Lucas have found their happy ending, but they aren't the only shifters in Seattle whose hearts will struggle to find each other. Coming in 2015: Dark Alpha!
