“No, it isn’t.”
He lifts the shirt over my head. “Hmmm...is it hiding somewhere on your body?”
“Not quite.”
He begins a trail of kisses around my neck and between my breasts. Then he pauses. “Do I get a clue?”
“South from my neck, north of my knees, between my thighs is where you’ll find it.”
Chris’ eyes widen and his smile spreads across his face. “Just to think, I thought the watch was one of the best gifts I had received today.”
As he touches between my thighs, he says, “Just remember, you can’t take this gift back. Once you give it to me it’s non-refundable.”
“Don’t worry, babe, this gift is yours to have.”
Chris begins to kiss me passionately...intensely. From the tip of my nose, circling each of my nipples, and licking my navel. I try to take control and pull him onto the bed but he rejects my approach.
He continues kissing me, following the trail from my navel to my slit. Kissing me once, then continuing down my right leg to the arch of my foot. Taking each toe into his mouth, he sucks. Slowly. Ending the trail, he returns to my slit, taking his dessert a mouthful at a time.
Not wanting to climax too soon, I breathe in through my nose and out through my mouth until my body relaxes again. After he has finished, he begins to fondle me with his fingers. My back arches, and again, I am losing control. When I think I can’t handle any more, the pleasure deepens. His tongue greets his fingers and rhythmically he plays a tune that makes me sing.
Just before I am about to orgasm, he stops. Suddenly.
Moans escape me and I say, “Chris...please...don’t...stop!”
He grins and reaches over to his nightstand, grabbing a condom. Undressing, he takes off his pants, then his shirt, and lastly his boxers. His manhood is at full attention.
My mouth drops as I watch him roll the condom onto his penis. This is it, no turning back. I close my eyes in anticipation.
“Laila, I love you. Are you sure you want to do this? As bad as I want to, I can stop now.”
I mouth, “Yes.” Reaching for him, I pull him towards me. He caresses my hair, then suddenly I feel the tip of his manhood. He enters inch by inch. I feel each and every bit of him. I remember what Monica said, and begin taking slow breaths to relax my body.
After the length of him has completely embodied me, he begins to stroke. Not too fast at first. The pleasure counteracts the pain. While he is stroking, he kisses my neck. The pain is an afterthought.
My hips come alive and begin to meet Chris’ rhythm. With each grind, I release a moan. Chris whispers in my ear, “Are you okay?”
Words escape me. Instead, my lips respond with a kiss. His hands begin to roam my body. He quickens his pace. The strokes get longer and harder. As he glides in and out, his hand finds a place between our bodies. He caresses my clit and I completely lose my mind.
My head turns towards the bed, and I bury it in the pillow as I release a scream. My legs twitch and my body tenses. By far the best orgasm I have ever had. He continues caressing me, continues stroking. Then suddenly my body reacts. This time we are in unison. We both release. Chris moans. I scream...again.
Epilogue
“Yes, he’s coming over in a couple of hours. Baby Ava has been up all night. I didn’t think being a mom would be this hard. TV makes it look easy.”
“I can come over and give you a little break when you need it. My internship is only six hours a day. But first we have to get through today.”
“Thanks, Laila. That would really be helpful. My mom was off for the first few weeks, but now that she is back at work it’s just me and Ava.”
“That’s what best friends are for. Besides, I missed her birth.” The one time I forget my phone I miss one of the most important phone calls. “I owe you one. I’ll call you when I’m on my way. Kiss Ava for me.”
I can’t believe Ava came early, probably just as Chris was walking across the stage at graduation. Or maybe when Courtney was acting a damn fool. Either way, I missed the call and unfortunately, the birth.
At least I can make up for it and be there for her today. Her parents will undoubtedly give Ava’s dad a hard time for missing the birth too. I just hope Josh isn’t at home, not really looking forward to seeing him this summer.
When I get to Tanya’s house, I’m all smiles as I walk to the door. I can’t wait to meet Ava. When Tanya opens the door, I see she looks flustered, her hair is a mess and she is only partially dressed. “Tanya, you okay?”
With teary eyes, she shakes her head. “Since having Ava, I hardly have time to get dressed, and makeup and shaving are a luxury.” She grabs my arm, pulling me in the house and says, “One I don’t have today.”
“Auntie Laila is here. I can play with the baby while you pull yourself together.”
She gives me a half smile. “Thanks, maybe she’ll stop crying for you.”
Ava Rose is lying in her crib, looking like a little baby doll. Peaceful. What was Tanya talking about? She isn’t making any noise.
“Go get dressed, I’ll watch her.” Not wanting to disturb the peace, I leave her in the crib and lie across Tanya’s bed. “Other than looking a complete mess, how have things been going with your parents?”
From her closet, Tanya peeps around the door. “Come in here, I don’t want to talk too loud and disturb her.” I walk in the closet and sit on the floor.
“Let’s just say I was way more optimistic before the birth. I thought seeing Ava would make my parents give up the adoption talk, but they haven’t.” She wipes the tear that’s fallen down her cheek. “It hurts more now. I’ve met her and I’m in love with her. She’s my world.”
“Maybe, over time, they’ll give it up.”
Tanya shrugs her shoulders, and I hear the front door open. “My mom’s home, let’s not talk about this anymore. My dad should be home soon.”
“Is Josh back?” I look at her with an awkward grin.
She smiles playfully. “Why do you care? You wouldn’t give him the time of day.”
“It’s awkward seeing him now. As much as I would have dropped Travis without a thought, I don’t feel the same with Chris.”
“You don’t have to explain to me.” She smiles. “I’d rather you two not test those waters anyway.” Tanya steps out of the closet and I follow.
“Yeah, I should leave those thoughts alone.”
She checks on Ava, then picks up her phone. “He should be here any minute now.”
“Should we go sit in the living room while Ava sleeps?”
“Yeah, let’s do that.”
The doorbell rings. Tanya gets up and answers the door. Her parents join us in the living room. With a confused look, Tanya’s mom asks, “Tanya what’s going on? Who is this?”
“Mom, dad, this is Randy. Ava’s father.”
As Randy stretches his hand to greet her parents, Tanya’s mom interrupts him. “Excuse me?” she says.
Tanya starts explaining. “When I found out I was pregnant, I knew there was a possibility that Randy could be the father. I didn’t say anything because I wasn’t sure. Randy and I agreed that when Ava was born we would do a paternity test.”
“Tanya, we have some things to talk about. I won’t discuss them now.” I wonder if she thinks Tanya is a hoe. “Randy, I apologize that I haven’t heard anything about you.” Tanya’s mom looks frustrated. “Tell me about yourself.”
It’s becoming uncomfortable, watching Randy sweat as he speaks to Tanya’s parents. “I’m going to see if Ava is awake.”
Tanya looks at me with pleading eyes, and I’m sure she doesn’t want me to leave them. “Okay, can you bring her if she is awake?” I nod my head and go into her room.
Ava is wide-awake, just looking around the room. I pick her up and she begins to cry. I’m sure she is wondering who I am. I take her into the living room in time to hear Tanya’s mom drilling Randy. “We’d like to know your plans. Do you plan on being arou
nd for Ava? Do your parents know?”
“Yes, to both. My parents weren’t happy, of course, but they agree that I need to be active.”
I hand Ava to Randy and she stops crying. She looks at him, cooing. Isn’t that sweet?
Randy continues to tell Tanya’s parents about his first year at Lee. They seem satisfied with what they’ve heard, and leave the room. Randy wipes his face and says, “Man, I feel like I sweated out my clothes.”
Tanya admires him, then says, “Thanks for coming over. I’m sure there will be tons of questions, and my mom may be pissed, but I think they will learn to like you.”
“I’m sure they will, in time.” Looking at me, Randy laughs. “I swear I didn’t see you all year.” Narrowing his eyes, he continues, “Were you hiding from me?”
Hunching my shoulders, I smile. “Maybe a little.” The new family looks like they need some time alone. “I’m going to head home. Tanya, call me later.”
“Thanks again, Laila, for being here. I’ll call you tonight.” We stand up and give each other a hug. I can finally wrap my arms around her, she’s almost back to her normal size again.
Tanya whispers in my ear, “My brother will be back next week. I’m sure he’ll be checking for you.”
“Girl, whatever. You know I’m in love with Chris.”
“I know, and I’m happy for you, Laila. Really, I am.” She winks, and says, “Just make sure you don’t let him make you crazy, like that bitch Courtney.”
Laughing I shake my head. “Have a good night. I’ll see you soon.”

To my husband, daughter, father, brother...and biggest supporter, my mother! I love each of you.
Chapter One
“Sitting out in this heat, you may melt.” I look up and see a dark-skinned guy with a fresh cut and bulging biceps. He sits down beside me and says, “Maybe I can give you a little shade.”
I smile, trying to be cordial. “Thanks.”
“My name is Isaiah. Are you a freshman?”
With a smile that reaches my earlobes, I reply with excitement, “Nope, I’m a sophomore.” I’m glad I’m not a freshman anymore.
He smiles, and I finally get a glimpse of his teeth. Far from perfect, but somehow his smile is still charming. "And what's your name?"
"Laila." I look down at my watch and stand up. "It was nice meeting you, but I should get to class."
Standing, he takes a few strides and moves in front of me, grabbing the door of the Economics building I want to enter. “Could I get your number?”
Stepping past him to enter the building, I turn to him and say, “Sorry, I have a boyfriend.”
Dropping his head, he sighs. “I should have known. A beautiful girl like you couldn’t have made it a year on campus without a man snatching you up. It was nice meeting you.” He lets the door close behind me.
I like his style, very respectable. Of course, Chris has my heart, but if he didn’t, Isaiah could have had a chance.
I’m a couple of minutes late to class, and I hurry down the corridor to the lecture hall. As I make my way to my seat, I look at the other students and I see Jason sitting in the back row. I quickly look to the front of the class to make sure I’m in the right room. Jason hasn’t been in this class before today. Considering we are a few weeks in, I’m surprised he is here. Well, that’s my professor at the front of the class.
Taking my seat, I open my notebook and try to avoid looking at Jason. I’m already late, and I shouldn’t bring any attention to myself. Jason and I are cordial, but after learning Jason fed personal information to Chris last year I have to watch myself around him.
The professor begins talking about the banking system and who the big players were in the housing fiasco of 2008. Despite my interest in economics I will myself to focus on his words. I have to ace this quiz next week.
From the back of the room I hear a book fall to the floor. Turning around, I see Jason bent over. First day in the class and already causing trouble. The professor clears his throat, commanding everyone’s attention back to the front of the room.
"Who can tell me one of the banks that was part of the bailout?" Before I recall the answer my hand shoots up. When the professor makes eye contact with me I realize my hand is in the air. Dammit, thank God I watched Too Big To Fail. “Laila.”
“Bank of America,” I gently whisper, not completely confident in my answer.
“Right.” The professor continues speaking about the other banks that were part of the bailout. Before our class is dismissed he reminds us of our quiz on Monday.
Exiting to the hall, I stand to the side and wait for Jason. As soon as I see him pass I shout his name, “Jason, wait up.”
“Laila, what’s up girl?” Leaning down to embrace me in a hug he says, “I’m glad we have a class together.”
“Where have you been? You do realize class started about three weeks ago, right?”
“Jokes. I see you haven’t changed much. Actually, I just changed my schedule. This dude seems like he ain’t ‘bout those games though. Quiz on Monday. What the hell?” Smiling broadly he asks, “Think I can get your notes from the past few weeks?”
Rolling my eyes, I look up at him then shrug. “I suppose.” Handing him my notebook, but with a firm grip, I say, “Just make sure I get them back tonight so I can start studying.”
“No doubt. What apartment are y’all in?”
“435. I may not be home but drop by and I’m sure one of the girls will be there.”
Jason nods his head then walks away. Before I’m a few feet away from him my phone rings. Grabbing it out of my purse I see Chris’ name on the screen. What a coincidence. I turn to look for Jason, who is now no longer in sight. "Hey, babe."
“Do you have time to grab lunch?”
“I certainly do, next class is in two hours. What did you have in mind?”
“I was thinking you with a side of French fries.”
My cheeks are burning and I smack my lips. “That’s what you had for dinner last night. You sure you want that again?”
Inhaling deeply Chris responds, “I could have you every day of the week. Breakfast. Lunch. And Dinner.”
As I reminisce about last night, my body tingles, and my legs get weak. “Where are you?”
“Frat house. If you can make it here in the next ten minutes I can have a taste of you and still take you out to fill your belly.”
“See you shortly.” I hang up the phone and contemplate running to my car. The distance to my car is about the same as my walk to the frat house. Either way I’m going to be hot as hell in more ways than one by the time I get there. Looking across campus, I decide to walk to the frat house.
Taking long strides, trying to pull off my speed walk without looking like a crazy lady, I pass by a third of the student body sitting out on the hill.
A few feet away from the frat house I slow down and wipe myself dry. Knocking on the door, I patiently wait, hoping that Chris answers. After two minutes of waiting, I reach for my phone to call him when the door opens. I look up and shake my head as I see Sean standing there, waiting for me to come through the door.
Without making eye contact Sean says, “He’s in the back.”
As I step through the door, I smile. “Well, hello to you too.” Sean was a Teacher’s Assistant for my class freshman year. We had a fling, but after he played me, we quickly became enemies.
I was hot and bothered before I got here, but now it feels like I've been splashed with a bucket of ice water. I'm not sure I'll ever get used to Chris staying in the frat house. Since his roommates moved after graduation last year, Chris has been living in this mad house. He’ll be here for the next year while he completes his graduate program.
With my eyes focused on the ground to avoid any piles of junk, I hear Chris chuckling.
“You a
ct like you are walking through a land mine.” He reaches out to pull me down the hall.
“It’s just not as clean as your apartment was.” My nipples perk up in response to my thoughts as I caress his arm. His arms are both strong enough to lift me up and gentle enough to hold me all night.
“Yeah, me and my roommates may have been the only clean negroes on this campus.” He shuffles me through his bedroom door, throwing my bags on his bed. “We now have about thirty minutes for me to feast. Can’t make you late to your next class.”
“Right, I should be on time to at least one class today.” Shit. Did I just say that?
Chris' lips are on mine before I can even explain further. Pulling away, I turn and look at the door. "Shouldn't we lock that?"
While rubbing my ass with his right hand, he leans over with his free hand and obliges. "Done. You cool? You seem nervous."
“I’m not nervous. Guess I’m still not used to this place. A little awkward.” Looking deep into his eyes, I say, “Especially knowing Sean is here.”
Looking down, Chris plops on the bed. “Hmm… well, we’ll be quiet. I’d hate for him to break out in a jealous rage when he hears what he could have had.”
Laughing, I lie on top of Chris and start kissing down his neck. He flips me over and almost in one motion has my shorts off and thrown to the floor.
Within seconds I can feel my juices flowing. With Chris lying on top of me I reach down and pull off his gym shorts and his manhood rubs against my leg. Sliding down, I find my spot between his legs and start grinding. Lifting up he continues to kiss me while his fingers slide in between my thighs and explore.
My chest is rising quickly with each motion of his finger. Just as I’m about to climax, he stops and reaches for a condom. Always so responsible, but always at the wrong time.
Eyeing him, I watch as he rolls the condom over his penis. He winks at me and then flips me over on my stomach. Gently easing himself in, I tense with anticipation. Stroking to a slow motion he reaches around and pinches my nipple. I can hardly take the buildup. I throw my ass back causing him to thrust into me quicker and harder.
