She held his gaze for a moment, understanding. Then she nodded and looked back out to the ocean.
Max wrapped his right arm around her and pulled her close, gripping her hand more tightly.
She rested her head against his shoulder and listened to the gentle lapping of the water on the craft below. Leaning so close to him, with their sides touching, Jane could feel now that his entire body hummed with power. She could sense the energy seeping into her, and with it came tremendous peace. Sill staring at the reflection of the moonlight on the glass-like surface below them, she closed her eyes finally and found rest.
