“Except I feel very certain in my bones that I can,” I say.
I think that birds are nice, and that baby Maggie will love hers very much once I catch it. I also think that Joseph and I will probably do the catching together, since Mom never said I wasn’t allowed to have help.
“Well, do report back,” Mrs. Webber says. Her expression suggests that she’s wondering how smart Mom is after all.
I know that Mom is supersmart, and I could clear up that confusion for Mrs. Webber if I wanted to.
Instead, I salute and say, “Will do.”
