  “Brie… what are you saying?” I torture him by running my hand across my stomach and looking down.

  “Are you serious?” I smile and slowly look into his eyes, not saying a word while I watch him try to process it. Once his own smile spreads across his face, I end his panic.

  “I’m not. Don’t you remember I’m on the pill? I just want to know how you’ll react when I do have to tell you.”

  “I’ll be happy as fuck. But first I’d like to have time to spoil you if that’s okay?” He pulls me into his arms just like he always does and gives me the false sense of security before he lifts me so that my legs are around his waist and takes off running across the yard. Straight for the pool. “Since you’re the jokester around here, let’s see how you handle this.” And with that he jumps into the water, sending us both into the deep end, never allowing me to slip away from him once we hit.

  He kicks us both to the surface and we’re both laughing when I push down on his shoulders to dunk him under the water. The playful side of Gabriel is something I’ve grown to love and miss when he’s gone. I know one day he’ll make a great father because of it and that’s something I truly look forward to.

  Gabriel exhales while looking at me under his sexy hooded eyes and I know where his mind just jumped. “No. We can’t at your parents. I refuse to be that girl.”

  “They’ll never know.”

  “Please. Neither of us know how to stop and your entire family will be here any minute. We’re not going to be the dinner show.”

  “Fine. But this ass is mine when we get home.” He grips my ass with his palms, pulling me tighter against him in the process.

  “It is anyway.”

  “I love you, Brie.” He leans into me and begins to kiss me softly before I have a chance to respond. It’s okay though, because we say those words to each other daily. I do love him. He’s made my life happier and for that alone I feel alive like I never have before.

  “I’m not ready to leave again on Monday.”

  “You’ll be home in no time. I’ll be here listening to everything in the control room.”

  “Good. I’ll talk dirty to ya and make the rest of them listen.” And just like that he went from being the jokester… to horny… to romantic… and back to jokester.

  “I won’t respond.”

  “I know you won’t. You’ll be sitting next to ol’ Stiff King and I’m sure he’ll put me in my place before I get too far with it. But that won’t stop me from trying.” He pulls me tight against him and kisses me like he did the first time we kissed. Like he’s kissed me every day since we gave into this connection. And I kiss him back just as hard.

  My heart is full and even though I know he’s about to have to leave on another mission, I couldn’t be happier than I am right now. This is what life is like with the Notorious Gabriel King and I love every moment of it.
