“Tank and Link will kill your ass!” she grunted, applying pressure to the gushing wound. Instant tears rolled down her face. Fuck that smarted. She grunted a heavy breath.

Keenan grabbed her by the arm and heaved her up. She released a whiney cry and he grinned. He easily lifted her and shoved her into the chair, her body jarring into the table’s edge. She tried to lurch away as he shoved the gun into the back of his pants. He shoved her back with a thud and reached for rope that she hadn’t noticed sitting in the next chair.

Dania lunged at him with a scream, her bloody hands planting in the middle of his chest, and pushed with all her might, knocking him to the floor. She wrestled for his gun, grasping it, bringing it up, and smacking him in the face.

Keenan grunted, wrestling with her and struggling to retrieve his weapon. “Bitch, I’m going to kill you!” he bellowed, grasping her wrist and smacking it against the floor.

Dania cried out, knee coming up and smacking him square in the balls.

He coughed, his body curling, his hands cupping his injured parts.

The wild groan that escaped him sent shivers down her back. Dania cringed. She really felt that one. She rolled away and pointed the gun at him. “Get in the fucking chair!” she yelled. No way was she letting this get out of her hands again. She could feel a warm puddle of blood expanding inside her pant leg and her hands shook as she aimed the gun at Keenan’s chest.

Keenan curled up tighter into the fetal position groaning, hand covering his injured dick and balls. “Fucking bitch!” he sneered.

Dania cocked the weapon. “Don’t think I won’t shoot you, asshole!” She managed to sit up and slide away from him.

Keenan snorted. “You think you’ll get out of here? You think you can survive in the woods? I fucked up your bike. There is no other way out of here.”

Dania clenched her teeth. Fucker! She backed away from him, looking him over. She couldn’t shoot him dead, could she? Could she live with that for the rest of her life?

  No.

  Bang!

Keenan wailed out as a bullet ripped through his knee.

  Bang!

A second loud wail filled the room.

“Let’s see you get me now motherfucker!”

  Chapter Seventeen

Dania hobbled down the steps and looked around. He had to have another vehicle? She limped to the garage, peeking through the windows. Her bike was the only vehicle and it was clearly out of commission, tires flat and the innards strewn about. Motherfucker! She should go back to the house and kill him! How dare he leave her out here deserted?

She glanced at the house. Fuck, the phone was in there. She didn’t want to pass him again. What if he had managed to get up? A snap in the woods startled her. She reared around, heart thumping in her ears. She was bleeding and in the middle of the woods. Great, just fucking great! If that fucker Keenan didn’t kill her wild animals would.

She limped back toward the house by passing the front steps. She was sure she had seen another shack out behind the house from her bedroom window. A trellis going up the side of the cabin caught her attention.

She looked up. Shit, what luck! It went to her room. If she could go up that way she could get her stuff, lock herself in the room, and bandage her leg better before Keenan managed to come after her.

She cocked her head to the side and listened. He was still crying in the house. She could hear chairs falling over the shattering of glass. He obviously wasn’t very happy. She shoved the gun into the back of her pants and started up the trellis. Her mind reeled, trying to remember if he had put the phone back downstairs? Had he left it up, she bet it was in his room where she couldn’t get at it.

Large hands gripped her hips and hauled her back. As the air left her lungs and she opened her mouth to scream, a large, dirty hand covered her mouth. Absolute terror assailed her.

Tank tapped his finger on his desk. “Link, pick up the fucking phone! Fuck, man.” He slammed his phone down. He looked out the window that separated his office from the others on the force.

Three officers wrestled with a man who had walked with purpose straight to his office and pulled out a gun. Fucker had horrible aim and just grazed his shoulder. Un-fucking-believable! He had tried calling Keenan, no answer! He had tried Jarret and no answer and now Link. He growled, standing.

“Sir, you have to stay,” Hill replied, shooting him a pointed look.

Tank glared at her. “Why the fuck is nobody answering me!” he bellowed.

Hill held up a hand. “Tank, we have our own checking on Link. It will take at least five more minutes to get to him. They will call as soon as they get to him,” she assured, closing his door and muffling his attacker’s words. His threats of how Dania would be gone by tonight.

Tank clenched his fist. “I swear, Hill, if she is gone when I get the fuck out there I will kill every fucking living thing in sight!”

Hill placed her hands on his desk and dared stare him down. “Give her some credit, Tank. Dania is no wimp. That girl will fight with all her life if she’s in danger. Link will be fine and you’ll all be together happy ever after,” she assured.

Tank growled. “Don’t give me your mumbo jumbo bullshit!”

Hill sighed, falling back into a chair exhausted. Mumbo jumbo bullshit, what the hell? Fuck the fact that she gave him a positive of happy endings, should have been good enough to calm the big guy. “Fuck, Tank scared here, too. That girl loves you guys so fucking much. Tell me you guys at least gave her some action,” she grumbled.

  Tank looked at her. “What?”

Hill looked at him. “Dania… loves you and Link. Scared to come between you, shit, I thought you guys talked about everything.” She released a heavy breath. “When we went to the convention we went for drinks afterwards. She got tipsy and started talking, said she was saving herself for you and Link, that she wanted her first time to be with you guys… Fuck Tank, broke my heart thinking she would be waiting forever. Told her if nothing happened in the next few years I was taking her somewhere and getting her laid.”

Tank settled back in his chair. Dania loved him and Link… he knew they all loved each other, but the love Hill was talking about was something different all together. He inhaled a calming breath. Dania couldn’t die. She couldn’t be taken from him and Link.

If she was hurt in any way he had her parents to fall back on. Fuckers tried to deny everything when he had first contacted them. They even went so far as to deny that Dania even existed, stupid move. Once he got Dania back he would let those fuckers see her and they would break. He knew their kind. See-no-evil-hear-no-evil types. In this case see no Dania, Dania doesn’t exist. He wasn’t even going to try to understand people like them right now.

“We’ll get her back,” he mumbled, his phone coming to life. He lunged for it.

  “Hello!”

“Sir… Officer Drake here, Link’s en route to the hospital… looks like a chest wound. They wouldn’t let me near him. I’m following behind the ambulance. We’ll be there shortly…”

A cold chill ran over Tank. He was losing everything. He slumped back into his chair. Dania was in danger, he was sure of it, and Link was shot!

Hill cringed at the sudden paleness of Tank’s face. She took the phone from his trembling hand. “Talk to me,” she replied, grabbing a note pad and jotting down notes.

Tank washed his hands down his face. Fuck.

Dania struggled against the big arms holding her in a vise grip, her worst fears whirling through her mind. She tried to scream to kick. She bucked against the arms, the hard body. She tried to open her mouth and bite. To no avail she could do nothing and whoever had her was taking her deep into the woods.

She cried harder as the overwhelming feeling of despair overtook her. Eventually her body got heavy and the throbbing pain in her leg took its toll on her small body and she succumbed to darkness.

  It was dark when Dania
awoke. She was in a small shack from the looks of it. A rugged backwoods-looking man sat across from her drinking a beer. A kerosene lamp flickered next to him.

“I fixed up your leg. That was some slug.” He tossed it at her and it landed on her chest with a thud.

Dania licked her dry lips and reached for it, her body crying out in agony. She whimpered.

“Hey could have been worse… I could have done it without the drugs,” he mumbled, reaching into a dirty, worn red cooler next to him and pulling out a bottle of water. “Here. Drink.” He tossed it at her and she missed it. It smacked into her stomach.

“Sorry, you think you would have more hand-eye coordination for a tattoo artist. You artist types are well-balanced people.”

Dania glared at him “Are you fucking kidding me? I was just shot in the leg and dragged through the fucking woods by I’m assuming you! And now you’re going to sit there and critique me!” she uttered, struggling to open the stupid bottle of water. Tears welled in her eyes as frustration over her weak state struck her.

Jarret chuckled. “That’s the thanks I get for saving you from the psycho boyfriend and digging a slug out of your leg and bandaging you up? I did give you the bed,” he added.

Dania looked at the cot, hardly a bed, she thought wearily. “Who are you and what do you want?” she demanded, wiping stray tears that fell of their own accord trailing lines down her dirty face.

Jarret grinned. “You’ll know soon.” Tank had told him to not let her know and well fuck, he liked her all skittish. As mean as it was she would laugh later about it.

Dania finally got the water opened and took a deep drink, coughing. “What… happened to that fucker Keenan?” she coughed more, taking another drink.

Jarret shrugged. “How should I know, didn’t feel like hauling his ass through the woods and mending him. Not that much into deceiving pretty boys, although, I may have to go back and hide him somewhere here in the woods for later, shooting a defenseless girl. Stupid by the way, when you have the option to sit your ass down or take a shot. Sit your ass down!” he ordered.

Dania looked at him. He sounded familiar. That tone he used. She narrowed her eyes. Emerald green eyes met hers. Tank’s eyes, they had the same goddamn eyes. She opened her mouth to speak and was cut off by the sound of something vibrating.

  Jarret dug out his phone.

  “Hey.” he glanced at Dania.

“Safe and sound, little flesh wound.”

He rolled his eyes as his brother yelled into the phone at his unhappiness of the little imp’s condition. Wait till he found out how stupid she had been. He bet the little imp would be in for a spanking. Well he would spank her if she was his imp.

“Yeah, yeah, you’re gonna kill me… but when you’re done you’ll kiss me all better. Wanna talk?”

He stood and Dania looked up at six feet of thick man. Same build as her lover, she was sure of it. Hair was nowhere near the same colour, but the facial features were similar from what she could see of his cheek bones. The rest was covered in a dirty, matted-looking beard, definitely same bone alignment.

“All right… I suppose I could tie her up.” He looked her over. “Not packing her through the woods. No wild animals should get her. Yeah truss her up, hope no backwoods hick gets her while I’m gone.” He snickered at Tank’s threats. “Yeah, yeah I know kill dead,” he grumbled, getting another rise out of Tank.

When he hung up he looked at Dania. “Well, sweet cheeks, what to do… do I trust you enough not to be stupid and run out into the woods or do I have to truss you up?”

Dania shook her head. “I won’t leave.”

Jarret chuckled. “You lie way too easily, sweet cheeks.” He dug into a bag and brought out rope. “Rest assured you won’t be shooting me anytime soon.” He hummed, motioning for her to take another drink. “I’m gonna have to gag you so you don’t give away your location with your girly screaming.”

He circled a leather belt over her head, shoving it between her teeth, and tightened it. “Talk,” he ordered.

  Dania shook her head.

Jarret hated to do it but he had to. He put pressure on her wound and she screamed. He nodded. Good enough, once she was down hardly anyone would hear her. He would give her another shot so she could have a nice little painless nappy time.

He bound her hands, looping the rope around her tiny waist. Fuck, he never took big brother as to liking the little ones. She had pretty little titties. He tied a knot and strung it down her legs, tying around her knees.

“If you don’t move you shouldn’t hurt yourself,” he offered, tightening the rope with another knot and down around her feet.

Dania tried to move when he stood and found herself tied rather snugly.

Jarret grinned at his handy work. He wondered if big brother tied the little one up.

  Chapter Eighteen

Tank paced the waiting room. Hill was on her cell phone nodding and humming and hawing every now and then. Tank closed his eyes and stopped. Jarret hadn’t made contact since late last night. He should have called this morning with a report, something, anything. Was Dania okay? Had he taken care of Keenan? Had Houlka showed up? What in the hell was going on? He stared blankly out the windows at the bright sun beating down outside.

Hill rubbed Tank’s large shoulder. “The boys have secured the cabin. Four fatalities… Keenan one of them.”

Tank nodded. He was sure the fucker deserved to be dead. If Jarret had to take Dania to the shack it meant things had gone bad. He looked at the big clock on the far wall. His little brother had better fucking call him soon. These fucking doctors had better let him the fuck in to see Link soon or he was gonna go berserk on the fucking place.

Hill sighed. “’Kay, I’m gonna go get you a coffee, want a muffin? Donut…? I think I saw some sweets down there,” she offered digging through her purse. Sweets always helped Tank when he got into overbearing cop mode.

Tank grunted, fishing his wallet out of his coat and handing her a twenty. “Cheap woman, yes coffee and something sweet. Maybe I won’t kill the whole fucking place,” he grumbled.

Hill grinned, swiping up the twenty and leaving him. She really hoped he didn’t go ballistic while she was gone. She was sure he wouldn’t. He was, after all, the wall that held everyone else around him together.

She stopped and looked back at him. “Tank…”

  Tank glanced at her.

She smiled. “It’s all gonna be good.”

Tank offered a solemn smile. He certainly hoped so, even though at this moment everything felt pretty bleak.

  * * * *

Dania groaned. The world felt as though it were moving below her, her stomach clenched in protest. She gagged and the moving stopped.

“Here we go, mouth over here… swear if you puke in here you’re cleaning it up,” hummed a soft voice.

She smiled softly. “Tank… wanna go home… please take me home, Tank,” she mumbled.

Jarrett laid the back of his hand on her forehead, fever. Fuck, he would have to get some medical help when he got back. He furrowed his brow. He wondered how pissed Tank would be if he just dropped her off at the hospital.

“Here take a drink, sweet cheeks,” he urged, holding the bottle to her lips.

She sighed, a soft giggle escaping her. “Link… he’s so ticklish,” she mumbled.

Jarrett frowned, a smile creeping to his lips. Big brother and Link have had fun.

Dania giggled hand falling to her chest. “More please, Tank… hmmm yeah right there.” Her head rolled to the side.

Jarrett sighed. Well good for her, sweet dreams at least. He set the bucket down and buckled his seat belt and his truck rolled into motion. Dania in the back seat, incoherent mumbles and soft moans whispering from her.

He flipped his cell open. He would have to get one of his contacts to drop her off. He would hang at Tank and Link’s place till things settled.

  * * * *

Link looked at the bandage c
overing his shoulder. The throbbing pain had subsided. Now he was just cranky.

“How does it feel?” Tank asked.

Link snorted. “Awesome,” he grumbled, sarcasm thick.

Hill chuckled. “You have a roommate… not where I want to see her, but at last we know where she’s at,” she replied, opening the curtain.

Link’s heart sunk. Dania lay pale and hooked up to an I.V. on the bed next to his. He looked over her body, wishing the damn sheet was gone so he could see where the damage was.

Tank crossed over, lifting the sheet and showing him her leg.

Link groaned. “He shot her in the fucking leg?” Rage filled him. How dare any one shoot Dania.

Tank nodded. “Brave girl, ran for it, dragged her way through the woods to the main road, and managed to flag down a truck,” he lied.

Link cleared his throat. It was best he didn’t know the whole truth he supposed, because he could tell from the official tone Tank used with him this was the story they were going with. “Keenan?” he questioned.

Tank near snarled. “Found dead along with three others in the cabin. The teams praised Dania, that she was able to get herself out of there before all hell broke loose. We figure he was there to sell her. We found a witness that will testify that he has been associated with human trafficking… turns out the Mr. Houlka we were searching for was one of the buyers.”

Link shivered, eyes glued to Dania. She was free. She no longer had to live in fear. “Keenan was the one sending the letters?”

Tank nodded. “Yeah those flowers he bought her… he had written a note for her on it and we were able to compare it to other samples. It’s mild evidence, but we’ll take what we can.”

Link nodded. Didn’t matter, the fucker was dead. “How long have we been here?”
