I don’t need to ask who he is referring to. “Yeah, I do. They are nice and friendly.”

  “And I’m not?”

I stop and he is looking intently at me. “Course you are,” I say sarcastically. “You are trying to get in my pants, just as they are wanting to be my friend.”

He stands in front of me blocking my path. “Do you want to fuck them?”

I glare at him. “Even if I did, it’s none of your business.”

“You’d rather fuck them, than me?”

Okay, now he’s being childish. “If I didn’t know any better, I’d think you are getting jealous,” I joke but he doesn’t smile in return. “They are my friends. I can be friends with a guy and not want to sleep with him. It is possible. Now start moving or we are going to be late.” I walk around him and he starts walking beside me again.

“You have my number, so if you need me to come get you or anything, just let me know.”

“Don’t worry, I will look after her.” Cory comes up and puts his arm over my shoulder, and Sebastian just glares at him as Cory smiles.

“I’m sure you will,” is all he says, walking into the classroom and sitting in the same place he did yesterday, with Cory and I doing the same.

“Wow, I could feel the tension a mile away, you would think I was going to bang you on the bar tonight,” he chuckles.

  “Bang?” I laugh.

“I’m trying to talk your lingo.” We both laugh.

“Thanks for that.” I laugh some more. “Yeah, we aren’t banging.”

He looks like I wounded him. “Dammit, all that effort for nothing, I guess I should look for another willing girl.” He pretends to stand up and I hit him in the stomach. “Peach, remember?” He strokes his stomach.

“I heard some very interesting things today, though.” The smile on my face is huge.

  “Now that sounds interesting.”

“About you and your brother,” I add.

“Now you have to tell me.”

“I heard you and your brother like to share.” I start laughing but he doesn’t join me. I really need to stop laughing when I think something is funny when they aren’t.

  “Would that bother you?”

I look at him and wonder if it does. “It doesn’t,” I pause, “as long as I’m not included in the scenario.”

He starts laughing and shakes my hand. “Deal.”

Holy shit, Anna was right. Well now that’s interesting. “I definitely don’t think I’m in England anymore, Toto,” I joke and we both burst out in laughter.

I leave my last class and head out. I am near the exit doors when I feel two arms go around my shoulders and I know they belong to Cory and Sean. I chuckle at them both. I notice we are getting a few stares but I don’t care. They can screw their rumours.

“Are you always going to greet me like this?” We move through a few people until we are outside.

“Well, yeah. I think I’m used to this now.” Sean pulls me closer into him.

“So, you still up for tonight?” Cory asks me.

“Yeah, unless tonight is going to be a BDSM night, then I will have to make it a definite yes,” I joke and both their heads fall back as they laugh.

“I think I’m in love with you,” Sean says, and I touch my heart.

“Don’t think it would work, sorry, baby.” I give a few taps on his face and he does a few fake sniffs.

“I don’t think I will ever recover from this.”

  I roll my eyes.

“But I will see you tonight.” He perks up, kisses my cheek and runs off, putting his arm around another girl that just walked by.

“Think he just got over me.” I smile and Cory’s eyes follow where his brother just went and he then looks back at me.

  “Looks like.”

We walk to the parking lot and I feel it already. I know he is here, watching me. I look to where his car is, and like I sensed him, he is standing against his car, with Cara smiling at him, but his eyes are on me and Cory. Then he looks down at Cara and smiles charmingly at her.

“I know you can look after yourself, but like I said, be careful with him. I think he is still wanting to get in your pants.”

I turn around to face him, giving him a hug. “Don’t worry about me. I am not going there. He can try all he wants but it’s not going to happen.”

He looks from me to behind me and nods. “I hope so.” He kisses the other cheek and heads to where his brother went.

I head towards Sebastian and Cara.

“You are already the talk on campus,” Cara gushes. “I heard that the twin boys are seeing you as their next girl.”

“Well, you shouldn’t listen to rumours.” I open the back door and climb in. I watch Cara and Sebastian talk and notice Sebastian touch her cheek and she smiles brightly at him, then they both get in and we head out.

Cara turns around and smiles at me. “Good thing about them, though, they don’t do one-night stands. They choose a girl and dote on her for like three months until they move on. Could you imagine, not one guy, but two? Pleasing you, treating you like you are the one?” She fans herself.

I notice Sebastian’s knuckles turn white on the steering wheel.

“Well, lucky for the girl who does hook up with them, but like I said, we are just friends.” I look out the window as we head home; at times I feel like he is looking at me through the rearview mirror but I don’t look. I don’t want to. I am sick of this—he is just a guy.

We are at the apartment complex when Cara touches Sebastian’s arm and smiles sweetly at him. “Are we still doing the hanging out thing? I know Iris can’t, but we can still do it.”

I notice the innuendo at the end of that sentence. I look at him and he stares at me and looks back at Cara.

  “Sure, why not?”

I feel my body deflate. Why am I disappointed that he said yes? I get out and head to the building, wanting to get some space between us. We head up in the elevator and when the doors open, Cara hugs me, beaming at me. She really does look happy. I do want her happy but I don’t think Sebastian will make her so.

  “I will see you tomorrow.”

“Yeah, have fun,” I say and turn, but Sebastian comes to me and gives me a hug. I feel his heat surround me, but I ignore it and whisper in his ear, “Don’t hurt her.”

He pulls away and looks me in the eyes, and I see so much emotion rush through them. He nods and heads back. The doors start to close and he lifts his head and watches me one last time until he is gone. He is now heading up with my cousin—going to be doing God knows what.

I open the door and see my mum doing some yoga pose on the floor and right now I really need a hug. I head to her and when she sees me, she must sense it as she sits, and I sit in between her legs on the floor as she holds me, stroking my hair.

“You are such a good person,” she tells me.

“I saw how happy she was, Mum.”

She sways me. “But make sure you are happy.”

“I will be. I have two new friends who are … different, and my cousin is hanging out with her future husband, what else could I ask for?”

  She kisses my forehead. “Love.”

  I scoff. “Love sucks.”

I feel her shaking her head but she doesn’t say anything. She just continues holding me until I finally decide to move. I need to start getting ready for tonight.

“Thank you, Mum. Sorry for being such a girl.”

“I’m happy you have drama in your life, it keeps me young.” We laugh.

“Well, I am heading out to meet my new friends. I will try to not be out too late.”

“No problem. I made some stew, so help yourself when you’re ready.”

I give her one last hug before heading to the kitchen, grabbing a bowl and heading to my room. I freeze when I see the object sitting on my bed and I feel tears start to build in my eyes.

“Please don’t hide that part of yourself for my sake. Or because of your father
s,” my mum says behind me, and I nod as she gives me a sad smile before walking away.

I put it in the corner of my room and look at it as I sit on my bed, just watching it—waiting for it to move. I have just finished my dinner when I hear my phone buzzing, and notice I am being FaceTimed by my best friend Ella from England. I hit accept and when I see her smiling face I almost break down.

“Don’t you dare cry on me or I swear I will kick your ass. I don’t care if you’re on the other side of the world.”

I laugh and she smirks at me.

“So how is America? Any cute guys?”

I shake my head. “It’s weird, but I’m getting used to it. There are a few cute guys, and I am best friends with two, who are twins by the way.”

She screams. “Please tell me more.”

I know I shouldn’t tell her, but she’s my best friend and I know she will love this. “Well, they like to share, and I don’t mean their car.” I waggle my eyebrows and she screams again.

“Holy fuck, they share their women? Now that is hot. I am so visiting you during winter break. I would love one night where I have two guys to pamper me with affection.” She flicks her light brown hair. She is very attractive. She has beautiful tanned skin, light blue eyes, and a good figure. Guys love that she has this sass about her. I know she wouldn’t say no to Cory and Sean.

“I bet they would love to please you.” I wink at her and we burst out in laughter.

“What is all this noise?” Mum asks, coming into my room.

  “Ella is on the line.”

Mum sits next to me and waves to her. “Hi, honey, how’s England?”

“Cold, wet, and miserable. What about over there?”

Mum and I smile at each other and Ella groans.

“Please don’t tell me now. I don’t want to know.”

We talk a little longer until Mum decides to leave us to it.

“There’s something you’re not telling me.”

I look at her, shocked she just came out with it.

“Now that your mum has gone, spill the beans.”

“I don’t know what you mean,” I lie and she huffs at me.

  “Spill it.”

“I hate that you know me so well.”

  “Spill it,” she says again.

“It’s no big deal,” I try to shrug it off.

  “Then tell me.”

I stick my tongue out at her and she does the same back. “You know my cousin?”

  She nods.

“Well, she really likes this guy and well before school started we went out and I met him, well I had just seen him singing onstage. He’s in a band.”

Her eyebrows go up at hearing that. “In a band?”

  I nod.

“Okay, go on.” She knows I don’t really go near guys in bands.

“Well, I had a few to drink and I was dancing, when I felt a guy behind me. I didn’t know who it was at the time.”

She groans as I tell her the story.

“I was basically having sex with him on the dance floor until I finally saw his face.”

“So, you danced once, it’s no big deal.”

  I bite my lip.

  “There’s more, isn’t there?”

I nod. “He is always looking at me, but I am looking at him too, so that doesn’t help, and he kind of is at the same school as me and lives a few floors above me and he keeps trying to sleep with me.”

“Holy shit, Iris, you really know how to pick up drama,” she laughs.

“Don’t laugh at me, it’s not funny.”

She continues laughing. “Sorry. Okay, well just ignore him.”

Yeah, easier said than done. “How can I if he lives above me and is constantly finding me and teasing me?”

“Oh, my God, you like him, don’t you?”

“How did you get that from what I just told you? It doesn’t matter if I do. Cara really likes him and they are hanging out tonight, so they will probably start dating and live happily ever after.”

Ella continues looking at me, not saying a word.

  “Stop staring.”

  “Well, I hope your right.”

  Yeah, me too.

“So, what are you up to tonight while your cousin has sex with a guy you’re not really into then?” she says sarcastically.

I give her an innocent smile. “I am hanging with the twin brothers.”

She groans. “That is it, I am visiting.”

We laugh and talk a little more before I tell her I need to start getting ready.

“Before you go, would you like to know about your dad?”

I pause and look at my hands. “No, Ella, I’m sorry, but I don’t want to ever talk or hear about him again.”

She nods in understanding. “I miss you, Iris.”

I feel tears building up again. “I miss you too.”

“The group isn’t the same without you.”

“I was amazing,” I try to joke and she smiles at me.

“Yeah, you are. Have fun tonight and don’t be a stranger.”

We blow each other a kiss and we hang up, and I miss her even more. I really hope she can visit me in a few months.

I decided on black jeans and a tight black T-shirt that says “Rocker” on it. I waved my hair and opted for natural makeup again. I enter Randi’s and it’s busy enough for a school night. There is a band playing and I see Cory and Sean behind the bar. I look at the stage again and it feels weird knowing that it was just a few days ago when I first met Sebastian and how my life has become more complicated since.

I am heading to the bar when I feel my phone vibrating in my pocket, and I take it out seeing Cara’s name. I don’t want to answer but I would end up wondering if she’s upset or if Sebastian has done something.

So, I answer. “Everything okay?” I ask her.

“Yeah, everything is fine. Sebastian and I are just making sure you’re okay.”

I roll my eyes. “I just got here but so far I’m fine. I’m not banging anyone as yet,” I joke and I hear her repeating what I just said.

“Well, just be safe and if you need me, just call.”

“I will do, thank you. You having fun?” I quickly add in.

  “Yeah, I am.”

I can sense her smile from down the line. “Good, well talk later.”

We say our goodbyes. I start walking again when I feel my phone vibrate. I roll my eyes when I see Sebastian’s name.

Sebastian: If you need me, just call.

Sebastian: The bang thing wasn’t funny

I don’t reply back, but can’t help but smile. I head to the bar and spot the twins farther down. When Cory and Sean spot me, they smile and head my way, giving me a hug across the bar. Again, a few of the girls waiting to be served don’t look happy.

“Glad you could make it,” Sean says and kisses my cheek as he hands me a bottle of beer.

“Thanks.” I take a sip, noticing the bar is starting to pick up.

“We are just going to serve a few, then we can talk. Just sit comfortably until we return. If you are going to dance or use the bathroom, please let us know.”

  “Will do.”

He smiles and starts serving someone next to me. I watch them going back and forth and it never quietens down. I look around and see the place is packed and Cory and Sean look run off their feet. I bite my lip and then sit on the bar and jump to the other side. I ask a guy what he’s after—I prepare his order, and thank God, the till is simple enough to figure out.

“Iris, what are you doing?” Cory asks. Thankfully he doesn’t look angry.

“I saw you were busy so decided to help, plus I started to get a little bored.”

He hugs me and starts kissing me loads all over my face that I have to swat him away.

  “You really are amazing.”

I give him a duh look.

“Okay, if you get stuck on anything, just let us know.”

I nod and start taking orders.

The band on stage starts to play a catchy song. Sean and Cory start singing, and I join in. We make serving so much fun by dancing with one another when we walk past each other and the customers are loving it. I think the girls start to like me when I start lifting the guys’ shirts up, showing their toned abs.

“Can I have two beers on tap, please?”

I pull out two glasses and start pouring the beers.

“You just started?” the girl asks.

“No, just helping out as it’s busy,” I tell her, passing her the drinks and she hands me some money that I till up, handing her back her change.

  “Can I ask one favor?”

  I nod.

“Can I see Cory’s stomach? A few of my friends said you are showing their bodies off and I feel a little left out.” She pouts and I chuckle at her.

“Cory,” I shout to him, and he finishes with his order and heads my way. I lift his shirt and grab the girl’s hand so she can feel his hard stomach and I see her cheeks turn red.

“Thank you, Cory,” a few girls scream and he smiles brightly and serves the next person.

“I love you,” she says, handing me a tip before walking off. I put it in the tip jar and it’s overflowing with money.

“Iris, do you have a minute?”

The bar has quietened down so I head to Cory and Sean, who are smiling brightly at me. Sean spins me around, making me squeal. “We have an offer for you.”

“I’m sorry, but I am not being your next girl to share. I know I’m fabulous and my ass is amazing, but I don’t want to ruin our friendship,” I joke.

“Well, that’s disappointing, but no, that’s not the offer.”

I place my hands on my hips as I wait.

“We want to offer you a job.”

Is he kidding? A job? “Are you being serious?” I look at them both.

“You have been amazing tonight. If it wasn’t for you, we would have angry customers and we would be stressing. You made the shift fun and the people love you. Have you seen the tip jar?” he chuckles. “You need to say yes. It’s just a couple of nights a week.”

I wasn’t really after a job, but there’s no harm in saving. “Sure, why not?”

They both hug me at the same time, making me feel like the filling in a sandwich.
