"We would much appreciate it if we could see your eyes," Cyn stated, mirroring my thoughts.
The President nodded removing the sunglasses, and it was then I noticed the small book he held in his hand. "Please forgive me. I'm not quite sure how to behave in this situation. As you can imagine, it is something no one has encountered before."
I nodded. “I assume you know everything about us by now, thanks to your drone and spies.”
He let out a heavy sigh. "I apologize about that. It is not the impression I wanted to leave on you." His gaze dropped to his hands, and he lifted the worn out book that looked almost as old as my Grandpa's journal. "The drone and the ‘spies’ helped me confirm who you were, but I learned about your people from here." He showed us the book. "This is the Book of Secrets, passed down from one president to the next. You see, George Washington wrote in these pages about a superior race, so spiritual and powerful that all men would kneel before it. A society we thought was dead, but that would return one day to our side and guide us. It would bring balance to the world."
"I didn't see you kneel," Lia said, dead serious, and I wanted to smack her.
The President faltered as he looked at us. "My apologies," he offered, kneeling in front of Cyn and I and all of his men followed.
I was half mortified, half shocked. I wanted to tell him to stand, but his tale about George Washington had captivated me. Plus, Lia sounded so convincing; I didn't want to make her look bad.
“You may rise,” Cyn added, amusement flowing through us, yet he seemed pleased by the show of respect from the man in front of us.
"Please continue," I waved at the book with my staff.
“Yes, you said we would bring balance to The Force,” Kevan added and we lost it.
The President laughed surprised, as I wiped my eyes. "Yes, I supposed that is the way it sounded. As I mentioned before, I'm not sure how to behave around you. After so many years, and many presidents praying for this day to come during their term, I now find myself in front of you. It is a blessing and a privilege to meet you personally."
I smiled, moved by his words. "Thank you, Mr. President. It is an honor for us too."
“I voted for you,” Lia said candidly. “Can I get a pin or something?”
The President laughed again. “You are not at all as I imagined.”
"I am glad to hear that," Cyn answered genuinely pleased. "We would love to form an alliance with you. All we desire is for our people to live out of the shadows finally, and enjoy the rest of their existence in peace."
"We have fought and lost too much to get here," I added, looking straight into his eyes. "Yet our city and our doors are open to anyone who needs it. We will protect them and offer them a better life."
"That sounds perfect to me," The President answered as his eyes filled with hope. "I dream that we can develop a friendship, and I can reach out to you for counsel and guidance as we desperately need it these days. The world is not the place we wish it were, but I believe that together we can change that. I would genuinely like to get to know you better, and understand your history." He looked at the book once more. "I would like to learn about you as real people, not a legend."
Cyn smiled, offering his hand to the man in front of him. At that moment he wasn't The President, the most important man in this country, or the most powerful in the world. He was a man pleading for help, for the people he loved and vowed to protect. "The High Priests before us dedicated their life to guide and help—not only their people—but all kingdoms who needed it." Cyn and I exchanged a glance. "As the Priests of this new Order, it is our honor to offer you the same."
The President's eyes shone as he shook Cyn's hand and kissed mine. The men behind him applauded. They took pictures of the historical moment, and suddenly The President's gaze connected with John's who nodded encouragingly. When he looked at us again, his eyes sparkled with excitement and nerves.
“Would you please bless us?”
Our lips curved into a smile and we nodded. I raised my gaze to everyone. "Please kneel."
They followed without question, and Cyn once again held my hand, as the light shot out from my Spear of Light.

I looked out the window of our new home, speechless. The view of the mirror lake, reflecting the blue and white mountains in front of us took my breath away.
Cyn hugged me from behind placing his hands on my belly, and I turned to face him. My gaze settled into his eyes, and they shone as he held me closer.
Asrhia’s words returned. “You are four weeks pregnant…”
Happiness like I never thought I could experience rushed through us. The next second a new feeling engulfed us, and I frowned.
"You knew?" I whispered. The smile that curved his full lips answered my question.
"I feared it was only my desire playing tricks with my mind, so I decided not to speak of what I sensed in you." His hand moved to grip mine and placed it on my belly. The second our skin touched my eyes welled with tears.
"I can feel it. I can feel the baby's essence, Cyn!"
He looked into my eyes as a tear slid down my cheek.
"It is soothing like the summer breeze, energized as the flowing river, and warm like the sun rays which light our face every morning, my Goddess."
I nodded confirming the feeling, and Cyn cupped my cheek a second before his lips crashed into mine. We kissed while tears of happiness fell on our faces.
Our hands lingered on my belly, and I held him tightly, resting my forehead to his. I was still having trouble processing everything that happened today. "We are pregnant," I said barely able to contain my emotions, Cyn nodded, kissing me again. “It’s a girl, Cyn. Another woman will be born of the blessed family, the reincarnated soul of your mother. I don’t know what to say. I feel like we are…”
“Blessed beyond our wildest dreams?”
I smiled unable to speak. Letting go of his hand, my arms wrapped around my husband's shoulders, and I hid my face in his neck. Cyn held me tighter while the endless waves of excitement, love, and nervousness rushed through both of us.
“Thank you,” he whispered, into my mind.
“For what?”
"For granting me another reason to feel blessed. For giving me something else to fight for, and eternally changing my life."
Lifting my head, I looked into his eyes. “No, you changed mine.”
As his lips closed over mine again time seemed to stop.
The love I felt for him went against everything I had ever thought, or imagined one could experience. It made my heart beat, the blood rush through my veins; it was the reason I woke up every morning and the one thing to fill my dreams each night with the prospect of a better life beside him.
This child between Cyn and I was the result of the purest love, one I never deemed possible. I felt blessed to be his partner, his wife and the mother of his child.
The mother of Asrhia, our Princess of Light.
