The Best Blind Date in Texas

Gray shrugged. “So I was wrong.” He’d have to remember to find a souvenir with a flying pig to bring back to his friend.
“I’m glad you can admit it. Now, if everyone knew you’d actually made a mistake, you wouldn’t have such as reputation as being perfect.”
“I never claimed to be perfect.” In fact, he and Amy had talked about his tendency to show a “perfect” facade to the world. With her help he’d come to understand how his childhood had made him into the man he was today. For the first time in his life, he felt free to show Amy the real Grayson Phillips, without fear she’d think less of him if he weren’t everyone’s ideal friend, son, business associate and now husband.
“No? Then what was all that ‘best blind date’ stuff I used to hear about?”
“All in my past,” Gray said, his attention tuned to the front of Bretford House, where Amy would make her march down the aisle. “The only dates I’ll be going on in the future are with my wife.”
“Good attitude,” Ethan advised as the wedding march began.
Amy walked down the pale lavender carpet, a vision in white lace and seed pearls. The simple lines of her gown were complemented by a full veil that fluttered in the light breeze. Even this far away, he could see her blue eyes glistening with tears. When she walked closer, he smelled her soft perfume. When she stood before him, he took her hands.
“Hello, Dr. Amy Jo Wheatley. I’m going to be your date for this evening…and for the rest of our lives.”
