Although he was throbbing, Philip couldn't let it happen this way.

  "Out."

"What?" Both girls had a confused look on their face.

  "Get out. Now!"

He roared at them, though his fury was entirely directed at the interloper. The two of them got to their feet and began to head to the door. He moved with them, doing his best not to appear alarming or threatening.

As they grabbed their things, he reached out and touched Angela's arm. His bear surged within him, but he fought it down, getting it firmly under control.

"We're going to have to talk," he told her in no uncertain terms. He wasn't going to do it in his current condition, but the magnetism between them couldn't be denied. He could smell her arousal it was so strong. The entire area around her was infused with it, while his own cock pressed up against her as she turned to put her coat on.

"I, I need to go," she stammered as he pushed the door to, after her friend exited.

"We're going to talk." He repeated himself in a low voice, ensuring that she realized there was no way around it.

"Talk about what? How you made us go through all the effort to come here for ten minutes?" She had a feisty temper he noted, enjoying her strong personality that didn't cave to him immediately. He would make her submit eventually, make her beg for it, just not yet.

"About us. Give me your cell phone number."

"Just call the agency if you need to talk to me."

"No, I'm done with them, just like you are. We'll talk more about it tomorrow." He wasn't letting her get away that easily. He knew in his current state of inebriation, unshaven and improperly dressed that he didn't cut a nice figure, but he was determined to show her who he really was.

Eventually, after a bit more back and forth, he got her number, plugging it into his phone and testing it, to make sure it worked.

"I'm a better person than this. You'll see," he reassured her, before letting her rejoin her friend.

As the door closed behind them, he roared in frustration.

  You idiot!

He had let her go. The one woman who made him feel alive, and he had just let her stroll out of the apartment. His bear was furious, demanding he charge through the door and bring her back. His cock agreed with him, but he wasn't going to listen to them.

Stripping off his dirty white t-shirt and stained blue jeans, Philip walked over to the opulently decorated washroom, moving to stand below the rain shower. A torrent of cold water fell over him from above, shocking his system but doing nothing to help his hardness.

Slamming a thick, meaty hand into the clay-colored tiles, he grasped himself tight, beginning to stroke up and down his shaft. Images of Angela, her large, perfect breasts pushed together and nearly falling out of her dress came to him. They were so vivid he growled in pleasure. It didn't take long for release to come, as he came with a roar of her name.

The release did not bring relief, however, for he found himself rapidly hardening before he even left the shower, unable to think of anything but the soft, creamy skin of his woman. Before leaving the shower, Philip proceeded to clean himself up. It was about time he got his life back together.

  Chapter Two

The door swung open, the old bells attached to it jingly faintly behind her as she whisked dirty plates and remnants of the breakfast meal off of the table. Angela ignored the door, for that wasn't her job. She was in charge of the people once they were seated at her tables, not before.

Today was a rather slow day, with only one of her regulars, Gordon, sipping his morning coffee while reading the newspaper. Her table of businessmen had just left, leaving her a rather nice tip. She hoped it was a sign of the day to come, because she hadn't made nearly as much as she had hoped last night. She had gotten her normal fee from the agency, but Philip hadn't tipped them at all, which is how the girls normally made most of their money.

  Philip.

Even at the thought of him her nipples hardened under the faded yellow blouse of her uniform top. She knew it was thin enough material that anyone could see, so she occupied herself with rolling more cutlery and organizing menus, out of sight of most of the patrons.

"Hello Sir, can I help you today?" She heard Mia greet whoever it was who had come in.

"Yes please, I would like a table. Anywhere in her section would be perfect."

Angela froze in her movements as the deep, gravelly voice echoed through the small diner. She would recognize that voice anywhere now just by its tone, although the reaction it had upon her was also a dead giveaway.

Warmth spread out from between her legs as she gripped the faded wood of the table in front of her tightly for balance. It was him, the man from last night. She was petrified, not wanting to turn and face him, though she had no choice.

Why was he here? She latched on to the sliver of anger within her at being stiffed the night before, and let that ember blossom, feeding it with any rationale she could. He had no right coming in here to bother her, not after the way he had treated her the night before. This was her place of work, not a hookup bar.

She turned finally, taking him in. The second shock of the morning washed over her as she noticed how different he looked. The scraggly, unkempt beard was gone, replaced by a short, neatly trimmed one. His hair had been cut and washed, looking like a natural brown instead of full of dirt. His brilliant green eyes shone brighter than she remembered as they lit upon her.

When he smiled she nearly melted at the vibrance, and the sheer joy it seemed to contain. He was a man that needed to be happy, she could see now. A small thrill went through her at the fact that she seemed to bring out that joy in him. Then her cheeks flushed a deep red as she realized why that was.

He was here to get what he hadn't gotten the night before, she was sure of it. He only wanted her for sex, though even then she wondered about that. She was just plain old Angela, nobody wanted her just for sex. It was probably a thing of pride, that he had let her go untouched the night before and needed to leave his mark now.

"Angie, table five!" Mia called from the front. She resolved to throw a knife at Mia, who knew just how much she hated being called that name. It was what her friend deserved after all, since she knew the reaction hearing it brought.

She walked over to him stiffly, uttering a short, terse greeting and asking if he needed something to drink.

"Coffee please, one sugar two milk."

  "Anything else?"

"Not yet Angel, thank you," he replied, turning his attention back to the menu. His reply had caught her off guard, so it was a welcome relief to be able to scurry away from his table and into the back to prepare his coffee.

The diner was small, only eight tables capable of seating four people, and a long counter with seats for five in front of it. The door opened right in the center, with two tables straight ahead and three off to either side. The door to the back was off on the left hand side, almost on the far side of the room from Philip.

Angela needed that space to be able to breathe.

  Angel

That was what he had called her, without a hint of sarcasm or humor. From any other male, she would have snorted with derision and told him to stuff it. But from Philip it just rolled off his tongue, sounding perfect to her ears, as if it belonged. She closed her eyes, leaning her head back against the wall as she imagined him roaring it in bed while she rode him.

A clatter of silverware snapped her eyes back open as Mia came into the back.

"He's a hottie," she whispered at Angela, a sly grin following until they were closer.

"Angie, are you okay? You look like you've seen a ghost," she commented, putting her bin of dirty dishes down to take a closer look. Mia was the wife of the owner, Doug. An elderly woman in her sixties, she still bustled around the diner helping out while her husband cooked the meals. She was the closest thing to a friend and mother Angela had out here.

  "I'm fine Mia, honestly. It's just that I know him. We've m
et before, and," she paused momentarily, trying to figure out what to say next.

"Ah, I think I get it, dearie. Well listen, just be safe, and make him work for it. You're strong, you can handle it." With that Mia moved around the corner to the dishwashing station, leaving Angela alone once again.

A cup of hot, steaming coffee in hand, she sucked up her courage and went back into the restaurant to drop it off to Philip.

"Sit down," he motioned as she made to move away.

  "I can't, I'm working Philip."

"Oh really?" he snorted, gesturing around at the empty diner. Even Gordon had left, leaving his customary tip on the counter for her. She had no excuse at this point, so she slipped into one of the high-backed chairs across the black and grey table from Philip.

"What is it?" The words came out with more of an edge to them than she had intended, but despite how he made her feel physically, she barely knew this man.

"I'm going to take you to dinner tonight. Somewhere public, so you won't feel trapped. Okay?" He said it matter-of-factly, as if she had no choice in the matter. The power in his voice was intoxicating, without being scary. He genuinely sounded as if he wanted to take her to dinner, without needing another reason for it.

She hesitated though, unsure if she believed him. Angela had been hurt before by men who seemed to be more than they actually were. It was how she had ended up here after all. Although Philip was panty-drenchingly gorgeous, she tried to force the raw, throbbing of her clit to the side to focus on the actual situation.

  "No, I can't."

  "Why not?"

"I barely know you Philip, and the way we met..." she let that trail off into silence, before taking his food order and heading into the kitchen. She forced Mia to take care of him, saying she felt ill, and spending the next thirty minutes in the washroom. When she came out, he was gone.

The next morning, he was there again. He invited her to dinner again, but she declined.

Every day at the same time he showed up, ordered the same thing, and asked her the same question. Finally, at the urging of Mia she said yes, if only to shut him up.

  ***

  She said yes!

His silver sedan glided around another corner as the built-in GPS guided him to her apartment. The further he went along the route, the more he wondered if she had given him a fake address. The part of the city he was heading into was less than savory. The buildings began to sport more graffiti with less talent and what few shops remained looked run down except for the steel bars in front of them.

He finally pulled up to a complex that had him fearful for her safety. The rusted hulk of a car lay in the middle of the courtyard, a fire brewing inside as several shadowy characters watched him approach. He set the cars security system to its maximum setting and let his bear hover near the surface.

One low, deep growl was enough to discourage the hoodlums from causing any harm as he went inside. He couldn't believe his Angel lived somewhere like this, it was far too dangerous for her. She could get harmed, or worse. The elevator rattled to a stop at her floor, the doors creaking open with protest to reveal a scene from his nightmares. The hall was long and dark, with most of the lights being broken or burnt out.

The walls were plastered with more spray-paint, at least, where they weren't broken and crumbling that is. Her room didn't have a number on it, so he had to find it using the numbers on doors around it. His heart was hammering inside of him as he knocked on the door. Not for his own safety, for he wasn't worried about that, but for Angela's. This was no place for a beautiful woman such as her.

"Hello," he rumbled, striding inside her apartment as she opened the door. He did his best to appear gruff, trying to hide the reaction he had upon seeing her. She was wearing a dark purple dress that suited her frame well. It showed off lots of smooth, creamy skin on her arms and legs but kept her breasts hidden away, so tantalizingly close, but not on display this time.

His cock raged against the confines of his jeans, betraying his feelings and desires. Meanwhile, internally, a struggle raged continuously between his two halves. His bear didn't understand emotions and past betrayal, but his human half could easily see the way she looked at him, expecting him to run away at every chance he got. Philip knew he had to take it slowly, to convince her that he wasn't like that.

"You know you didn't have to come all the way up to get me," she said by way of reply. He could tell she was embarrassed about her living situation, though she needn't be. He did not care about how she had lived before. It only mattered how she was going to live now that he had found her.

"Are you ready to go?" She looked ready, but he knew women often did a million touch-ups before they left, so he prepared himself for a wait.

"Just let me grab my jacket and we can head out." Her response caught him off guard, a smile of delight tugging at his lips.

As they prepared to leave, Angela accidentally brushed up against him, the smooth, satin dress she was wearing leaving a tingling feeling behind. Philip cursed inwardly, doing his best to stay calm, but he couldn't help it as a growl escaped his lips, rumbling through the small, worn down looking room.

Keep it together! You can't afford to have her yet, so bear down and behave!

If he took her now, there would be serious doubting within her mind, questions as to what his true intentions were. He couldn't have that, he needed her to trust him completely if they were to be together. Carefully he took several deep, theoretically calming breaths, to ensure that he didn't push her up against the wall and thrust his hard-as-steel cock inside of her.

Exiting the building, he noticed a crowd of people around his car. His bear rose to the surface, intent on protecting his property from harm, but Philip pushed it down. If he caused trouble now, it would come down on Angela, not him. His plans to brush it off were thrown to disarray though.

  "Hey, get away from there!"

She yelled at them, making a shooing motion with her arms as they approached his vehicle. He looked at her wide-eyed, wondering what she was doing? There was no need to make a big scene, but her temper had obviously gotten a hold of her, as she told the rough looking crowed to move it. Several of them looked at her and laughed outright as they moved away, but others gave her a long, hard stare.

Although he wasn't worried about his own personal safety, his heart raced at the thought that they might harm even a hair on Angela's perfect, sexy body. A snarl affixed itself on his face as the idea gained traction with his temper. He saw one form still doing something next to his car, and it took him a moment to realize what.

The smell hit him at the same time he saw the damp spot along the side of the car and rapidly forming on the pavement. Angela swore out loud, using language he hadn't expected from her as she tried to take a step forward to swing her purse. He gripped her arm tightly, a savage, growling roar escaping from his throat, silencing the laughter that had erupted from around him.

With one, large stride forward he grasped the neck and waist of the deadbeat. A quick flex of his large, muscular arms sent his target hurtling through the air to land amidst a pack of his friends, urine spraying freely across them as they tumbled into a heap. His eyes narrow, he stared down anyone else who showed even a hint of starting more trouble.

Not wanting to stick around longer to show them how angry he truly was, Philip ushered his mate through the driver's side so that she did not have to risk getting her dress stained. Then, with a screeching of his tires he took off, leaving the gang to choke on his burnt rubber.

"You didn't need to do that," he scolded gently, both pride and fear alternating their way through his heart at her strength.

"Like hell I didn't. That's the only way to deal with those useless losers." Her anger was still radiating, making her more attractive to him. He couldn't wait to get her naked and underneath him. Thoughts of sliding his hard cock into her dripping cunt occupied the entire rest of the drive. He gripped the steering wheel so tightly that his knuckles were white
by the time they arrived.

He leapt out of the car, extending a hand to help Angela. As she climbed out, she lost her balance and stumbled into him. He reacted instantly, grabbing her tightly and holding her upright against him. Her soft, lovely body pressed into him, molding her curves perfectly to his body in a way that he had never experienced before. Her shocked gasp turned into a whimper as his throbbing cock pressed into her stomach.

"Philip," she started, before he pressed his lips to hers, shocking himself with his boldness. The moment their skin touched, the connection was made, blasting away any doubts he may have had about her being the one for him. This was his mate, his partner, his soul. A loud growl ripped from his throat as she moaned lightly under his touch.

"We don't need to go inside. We could go to your place," she whispered breathlessly when they came up for air.

"Angel, if we do that, the only thing I'm going to be eating is you," he growled back at her, doing his best to stay calm. Her lips tasted of cinnamon and something else, something unique to her. Whatever it was, he wanted more, he wanted to taste the warm honey between her legs, to sink his cock into it with abandon as she screamed his name.

"I know a wonderful Chinese take-out place on the way?" She was being persistent, and he didn't have to be told twice not to argue. He opened the car door and gestured for her to enter.

  Angel

She loved the way it rolled off his lips, sounding like the calm, soothing sounds of a babbling brook. She leaned her head on his shoulder as they drove, running her hand across his muscular chest before questing south until she found the bulge in his pants.

"Don't make me crash Angel, I don't have time to deal with that right now." He was kidding, she could tell, but her nerves stood on end at the implied desires that he did have time for.

She wanted him badly, though she didn't believe that he could truly want her. The demands from between her thighs couldn't be ignored, however, she needed his touch, to have his hand reach under her dress and flick her clit gently until she covered his hand in her juices.
