“I’ll go, but I want you to know it was me who undressed you. I took off those soiled furs wrapped around you. You have nothing to be afraid of from me. I brought you some clothes from my mother’s chest, they’re in the closet to your left, and the bath and shower is around the corner, to your right,” he said pointing. “My mother would want you to wear them,” he added.

“Thank you, Drayton. My name is...”

“I know who you are, Adrienne. You introduced yourself and then you past out in Lycell’s arms. He’s one of my brothers.”

Drayton walked to the door and opened it, and when he reached to close the door, Adrienne said, “When can I use the phone? I need to call my parents.”

“When Wilder returns.” And he closed the door.

“Oh my god! This is Wilder’s ranch. He will hate me for trying to run away from him. What can I say to him,” she mumbled rushing to eat before she took a shower, shoving a piece of sandwich and pie in her mouth, closing her eyes, and savoring the taste of real food with her back to the door.

She didn’t hear the silent footsteps of a hunter enter the room.

“There is nothing you can say to him that will make him forget that you rejected him,” he said circling Adrienne. “He’s not used to rejection,” Lycell said collecting strands of her hair in his hands and bringing them to his nose and smelling her. “He has never been rejected by human or werewolf,” Lycell added with a straight face, his piercing brown eyes traveling over Adrienne’s body as if he was measuring her as a hunter measures his prey before the attack. His eyes shining, his mouth salivating. Or was it a look of a man who couldn’t wait to get in her panties?

“Why are you in here? I didn’t hear you knock?” Adrienne made a rapid turn facing him.

“I don’t knock on a door where there is a female. They don’t have privacy. If I wanted to take you I would.”

“No you wouldn’t.” Adrienne back up to the wall. Searching for something to cover her nakedness.

“You will not stop me. You are to be my mate as well. Once you give birth to Wilder’s pup then you will be mine for the taking, and I will not be as soft as my brothers.” Adrienne’s eyes opened wide when he pulled her hair and stared into her face.

“I’m Wilder’s mate and I’m with his child and until then, you will leave this room.” Adrienne couldn’t believe what she said, that she was Wilder’s mate. It came as much a surprise to her as it did to Lycell.

“You heard her.” Lycell turned in amazement. He didn’t expect Wilder to return to the ranch so soon. Lycell bowed his head to his big brother. Until he had a pack of his own or pups of his own, he couldn’t intrude on Wilder’s mate. It was Wilder’s decision to share Adrienne with his brothers. It was for the good of the family, but now he was having second thoughts.

He knew Lycell’s personality and it was the opposite of Adrienne’s.

“Why are you standing there in the nude?” he asked her, his lake blue eyes smoldering to a dark deep blue. His demeanor changed remarkably. He wasn’t the same man or werewolf. He appeared cold to her and his eyes showed his aloofness.

He growled at her, “Answer me. Why are you standing nude in front of Lycell?”

“Do you think this was my choice?” Adrienne countered. “I was preparing for a shower and he didn’t knock, he walked in on me. He said that that was a common occurrences for females not to have privacy just in case the female was needed to satisfy one of them.”

“But not my mate,” Wilder emphasized.

“He seem to think that any woman you chose, you would share. Is he wrong?” Adrienne demanded to know, her eyes locked on Wilder’s deep blue eyes.”

“No. We made a pact that we would share the female, in this case, a human woman when I make my choice. But I’m having second thoughts about you,” he said moving closer to Adrienne, his eyes on fire, his cock full, and she took a step back afraid for the first time. Afraid that he would treat her callous, heartless, and uncaring. Afraid that she deserved it.

Wilder’s eyes were surveying her body and he couldn’t contain his lust for Adrienne. Finally, he gained control. He sighed. “If you want to return to your home, I won’t stop you. But you will need to stay here to have my child first, and then if you want to leave you can go.”

“I said, I’m not pregnant,” Adrienne insisted.

“That will be for you to accept. I have spent too much time in that cave with you when I needed to travel to check on my pack in Oregon. I will contact you when I return. Do not sleep with my brothers until then.”

“I can sleep with whomever I want. I’m not married to you. But I will never sleep with them. I want nothing to do with them. Who do you think I am?”

“You’re mine. And will always be mine,” Wilder said walking close to Adrienne sniffing her hair and passing a soft breath on her shoulder before moving away.

“I’m not married to you and if I were, I belong to myself and no one else.” Wilders eyes opened wide and he arched an eyebrow.

“Is that what you want, to be married to me?” He questioned Adrienne. She didn’t want to answer but it was what she wanted, to be married to him, and only him.

“I don’t want to be a prisoner, I need to see my parents,” she said in a sympathetic voice. Knowing when she had a chance, she would get out of there.

“Then I will see that Drayton takes you home. I don’t trust Lycell. Drayton is naïve he’s not likely to take you if you refuse.”

“No one is going to take me.” Adrienne protested.

“And what are you to do?” Wilder walked close to her. Grabbed her by the hair, turned her around and brought her to all fours on the floor facing the bed. He unzipped his jeans, and his hands found her breasts. With one hand on her breast and nipple and the other on her butt the heat from his body and the need burning from inside her caused her to lean back pushing her hips and butt into his large cock. His manhood leaned into her exposed naked opening, he moaned from the feeling and the heat of her butt cheeks, and he raised his head upward. His eyes closed and he moved his hand to her throbbing clit, circling it with his finger feeling it rise.

Biting her lip waiting for him to enter her wet opening, excited and waiting, he stood up and left her on her knees panting. “See what I mean. You are a willing female and even if you aren’t willing I could have you if I wanted you,” he said with an ice cold stare peering at her. She knew once he was warm to her and she had control over him with her body, but after she deceived him he felt that he couldn’t trust her, and she knew it because Lycell had warned her.

“You did that to prove a point. Yes, if you must know, I do want you. And you want me too. But because you thought it necessary to make me feel less than human, you will not get a chance to insult me again. Now leave me, and let me take a shower. I need a long shower to get this wolf stench off of me,” Adrienne said in defiance and anger. Knowing what she had done made her sad but it paled in comparison to how Wilder made her feel at that moment.

Adrienne didn’t mean her harsh words, but she wanted Wilder so bad and he was trying to punish her. He knew the effect he had over her. He knew she enjoyed his large cock inside her.

“I’m leaving now and I won’t be back until spring when my pup is born and if you want to go you will have to leave him here,” he said walking to the door. I will give instructions for my brothers not to take you home until then, but you will not carry the baby, I mean my pup.”

“I’m not having a baby or pup. I’m unable to...” He turned and his eyes glared at her. “I can’t.” He walked to the door, turned to respond, but thought better than to ask her a question. Was she infertile? No. She was fertile and she was in denial, he thought. Come spring when he returns he expects to see his offspring.

Looking around for something, an outraged Adrienne picked up a lamp and threw it at him. Her aim was off and she hit the door instead. He turned with a furrowed brow. “See, you humans are far more violent then we will ever be. I hope
my son inherits your temperament, he will be fierce.” And he smiled and opened the door expecting another object to come flying after him.

She ran to the door opened it and screamed, “Fine. Fine. But there will be no pups, and no pack if I have anything to do with it.” When she realized that she was standing naked and Drayton and Lycell were peering at her, she slammed the door.

Looking down at her stomach, it did appear to be getting a little larger. “No it can’t be,” she said convincing herself. And she walked into the shower and let it run until she felt like herself again. If that were possible.

  Chapter 2

Adrienne lingered in her room all night, pacing the floor. She locked the door to get some privacy. Then she wouldn’t open the door to collect the tray of food left by Drayton. She heard Drayton and Lycell whispering at the door. All she could make out was she was too skinny and needed to eat, and she had spirit and human females were strange. Drayton said that he hoped his pups would have her hot-blooded nature. When she finally opened the door, the food had been removed, no doubt by Lycell, she thought.

She ambled around the room looking out the window at the light snow and rain, thinking about the forest, the cave, and Wilder. Turning her glance to the homemade furniture, passing her hands over the chairs, feeling the texture of natural cedar wood, “Beautiful,” she said. Then she went to the dresser looking for clothes, she found a dress that suited her but there were no undergarments. Still she placed the white and yellow silk dress with flowers embroidered on it over her head, and walked down the stairs in the direction of the kitchen. She glanced down thinking that she was a little heavy considering she wasn’t eating much.

When she entered the modern stainless steel kitchen, it was time for lunch. Drayton and Lycell were sitting at the table. It was lined with ducks, venison, and bear meat. “Is that all you eat?” She questioned standing in the door frame watching the handsome brothers’ consumption of meat and berries. Lycell placed a large piece of raw meat dripping of blood down on their plates looking up at her when she entered and spoke.

“This is not all we eat but this is what we like to eat,” Lycell said then turning away from Adrienne.”

“Why do you have to be so rude? No, don’t answer that, there will probably be another ill-mannered remark coming from you.” Drayton stood and pulled out the chair for Adrienne. Lycell looked at the both of them, and threw his meat on his plate, then taking it with him after a second strong probing look at Adrienne.

He pushed the door open and kicked it closed behind him making a loud bang that made her tremble, and he marched into the garden heading for the stables. Adrienne watched him through the glass window. She saw where he strode to the barn, pulled a horse from the stable, leading it by the reigns and hopping on it, then riding the steed away. “Where is he going and why is he riding that horse so hard,” Adrienne said to Drayton.

“He’s going to let off steam.” It was then she heard a loud howl. A howl similar to Wilder but she knew the difference.

“I’m hungry,” Adrienne said sitting next to Drayton.

“Well, the cook has gone for the day but she baked you a chicken. And there is fresh vegetables and apple pie and milk.” He got up and retrieved the plate sitting in the warmer and placed it in front of her. She looked at the whole chicken and a variety of vegetables and potatoes.

“I can’t eat all of that.”

“You’re eating for two or three or four. It’s not unheard of for a human to have three or four pups at a time,” Drayton said smiling at Adrienne.

“Where are you getting this notion that I am having a child?”

“You’re not having just any child, you’re having Wilder’s pups. He’s the Alpha lone wolf who refused human females and werefemales. He could have his choice of mates in the human community. He could have as many women as he desires, but he wants you and we want you too.” Adrienne stopped eating. “We thought that when Wilder brought home a female, she would be the mother to all our pups. She would be willing to accept us and our lifestyle.”

“I just met Wilder and he’s saying that I’m pregnant,” she said nibbling on a drumstick and dousing it in the glass of milk. Then eating a large piece of pie.

“You are pregnant.” I can smell you. I can smell Wilder on you. He has given his consent for us to mate with you but after...”

“Well, that is news to me,” Adrienne interrupted, and don’t you need a willing participant?” She questioned. “Where is he anyway?” Adrienne said looking around with a mouth filled with food.

“He’s gone, didn’t he tell you?” Drayton said. Adrienne’s brow smoothed after remembering his words.

“He said something about leaving but I didn’t believe him. We were so close when we were in the cave, now he is so different.” Adrienne put her head down looking at her hands. She remembered how Wilder took her hands in his and kissed her palms and how she raked her fingers through his dark curly locks. How his warm kisses trailed down her neck to her breasts and heightened her arousal for him. Thinking about his gentle love making made her fall deeply in love with him. She looked up into Drayton’s impossible handsome face to see her Wilder. But although they appeared the same on the outside they were different and she knew the difference.

“He acts as if he doesn’t like me, Drayton. He’s willing to let you and Lycell have me. I never thought he would do it.”

“You have it all wrong. It’s an act of love on Wilder’s part to share what he loves the most. You have nothing to worry about. We will all love you in our own way,” Drayton said holding a sobbing Adrienne’s hands.

“He may have said something about coming back in the spring,” she admitted drying her tears, “but I was too angry to listen. And that you and Lycell wouldn’t mate with me until I have his pups.”

“He forgot to say that we wouldn’t mate with you unless you wanted us too.”

And that will be a cold day in hell, Adrienne thought.

“When you finish your meal,” Drayton said with a smile, “we can go for a walk, it’s warm now that the rain has stopped. With the sun high it will be warm for a few more hours.” He paused and said, “You may want to put on some panties, I can smell you, and you smell wonderful. It’s driving me, well I can control my urge. I’ve never been with a female, Lycell has, and he gets pretty upset when he smells a female especially a human.”

“I don’t have any. I can send the cook to town to buy you some tomorrow, in the meantime, be careful around Lycell,” Drayton warned.

“What is Lycell going to do?” Adrienne question with concern in her voice.

“He won’t take you if that’s what you’re worried about. He will have Wilder to deal with. He’s just cranky, expecting to mate with you, and finding you disagreeable. He’s used to werefemales. You don’t have to do anything special they are always ready.”

Adrienne was ready too but she was ready for Wilder and he left her to his brothers. She needed to understand what she was signing up for. Would anyone accept that she is married to three men or wolves? There would have to be a wedding, she needed a ceremony before consummating a marriage with two more wolves. Who would perform such a ritual? Her children would need to know who their fathers are. It’s a matter of inheritance. How does that work?

Does the first born have rights to everything or do they inherit equally. She would have to discuss this with Wilder before any other decisions are made. What is wrong with me? Now Drayton has me considering something that I thought would never happen, Adrienne thought. It’s out of the question. I’m not having any babies because it’s impossible.

  ***

Drayton took Adrienne’s hand and led her outside. Once in the autumn wind he could smell her scent, the aroma of flowers and baby oil tantalized his senses. Her body glistened in the sun and her long silky auburn hair flowed in the soft breeze. He continued holding her hand as they walked among the white firs and evergreens, stopping to collect the cones.

“My mother’s flower garden is over there near that stream,” he said pointing where Alders grew. The small trees were near a river that coursed through Samsa’s land to the east, and on a hill stood a miniature red wood house with white paint framing the tiny widows. They continued on their walk.

On their way up the hill they saw Lycell feverishly riding his steed past them. With Lycell astride the black stallion, they came so close to Drayton and Adrienne with reckless speed that Adrienne’s silk dress fluttered upward, and she almost fell from the near encounter. The upset horse reared up almost throwing Lycell off. Lycell pulled back on the reins to gain control of the animal and brought him to a stop. He turned his body in the saddle and gazed at them, raising his head taking in Adrienne’s scent. Then he headed back to the stable at a heated pace with the horse jumping high over brush and stream.

“What is wrong with him?” Adrienne said releasing a large breath and passing her hand over her dress.

“Oh, he’s just jealous. He wishes it was him walking with you.”

“Why would you make him jealous? If he acted a little more civilized...” Adrienne stopped. It was the look across Drayton’s face, that of sadness and disappointment, which caused her to stop in mid-sentence. She didn’t want to offend him. She liked him. Drayton’s brow eased and he smiled.

“He’s always been jealous since he was a pup. He and Wilder competed for everything when they were young. It keeps their instincts sharp. They try to out hunt each other. And he thought that he would be the first to bring a female to the pack, which would make him the dominant male. But he is too crude and Wilder is too demanding.” Drayton smiled gazing at Adrienne with his round brown eyes, and his rugged handsome face displaying a quiet passionate temperament. “Me, I let nature take its course.” And he broke into a wild happy smile. The whiteness of his smile dazzled Adrienne, and she fell into Drayton’s charm.

They reached the top of the hill and to the right of the garden the small house sat. “It’s my mother’s shed where she kept her garden tools, rakes and seeds,” he said hunching his shoulders as if he didn’t understand why she wanted some time alone.
