“Of course. It’s totally decadent and I can’t believe we haven’t thought of putting one in the house.”
“I may lose you for good if I put a TV next to the tub.”
She gave him a wink and then took a sip of her wine. “Doesn’t seem possible, since you join me half the time.”
He ripped his T-shirt over his head and gave her a grin. “Scoot over, honey. We’re going to have a date in that marble tub before we need to be at the museum.”
She held up her hand and shook her head. “No, sir. This is my beauty bath, so you stay over there and behave.”
“That’s not what you said thirty minutes ago.”
“Which is why you need to stay out of my bath.”
Stretching his hands over his head, he shrugged. “Fine. I’ll get you after we return from seeing your lover.” Which is what he’d been calling Amedeo Modigliani for the last year because Stazi had spent so much time with his paintings. The project was complete and tonight they were going to see the exhibition at the Tate. There was some sort of fancy gala thing they were going to attend and Stazi was very excited. Which made him happy because anything that put a smile on her face was a good thing.
“I might not know what to do with myself now that we’re done with the project. I guess someone else will turn up and make me fall in love all over again.”
“Maybe an opportunity will come along allowing you to study Michelangelo. At least that way you’d be surrounded by images that remind you of me.”
“A woman can dream, but I doubt anything like that will ever happen.”
“Maybe we can start on that other dream we’ve been talking about. Who knows? Perhaps we’re going to conceive baby Coleman in the Goring Hotel in the shadow of Buckingham Palace.”
“We might already have done it,” she said quietly.
Sitting up, he leaned toward her. “What did you say?”
“I’m a couple of days late and it probably means nothing.”
Taking the glass of wine out of her hand, he set it on the counter and knelt in front of her. “Really?”
Moving her hand to his face, she gave him a smile filled with love. “Don’t get excited. It may just be because of the traveling.”
Holding her face in his hands, he brought their mouths together and kissed her with everything he had. “If you’re not pregnant yet, I bet you will be by the time we leave.”
Standing, he slipped off his shorts and grinned. “Move, woman. I’m coming in.” He stepped into the marble tub and water sloshed over the side as he slipped in next to her. Stazi’s laughter filled the room as he pulled her on top. When she pressed her hands to his chest and accepted him fully into her body, he knew they were already pregnant. But the next thirty minutes was a nice insurance policy. “I love you, Staz.”
“Love you more,” she moaned as she moved. Stopping abruptly, she sat up and looked at him. “The Tate has a similar staircase to the Art Institute’s. I hope I don’t trip again because I’m wearing sky-high heels.”
Putting his hands on her waist, he smiled. “I’ll always make sure you’re safe.”
“Of course.” Patting his chest, she let out a laugh. “You’re my warrior and would never let anything happen to me.”
Sitting up, he gave her a kiss and then thrust his hips. “Except this…”
“Yes, I’ll take as much of that as you can manage.”
Their loving sounds filled the room as Hank made sure his wife was happy and satisfied...which is all he ever wanted.
