Margot's Secrets

Page 29

by Don Boyd

“It was so many years ago. He was the only person who knew the truth. Xavier.”

Margot didn’t want to react. What is Truth, said jesting Pilate; and would not stay for an answer. She remembered that she had used that mantra once for Xavier – one of her father’s favourite witticisms.

  “I must ring my Dad!”

  Acknowledgements:

The editorial guidance and inspiration from Tim Binding, Loo Brealey, Samantha Hill, Caroline Michel, Alice Sandeman-Allen and Franc Roddam was crucial for this, my first novel, and I also owe a special debt of gratitude to Dr. Jill Vites whose wisdom and professional brilliance steered me personally away from a very dark place psycholgically towards the idea of writing it in the first place. And of course my wife Hilly who has had the perverse role of living with me through its creation.

Dr Janet Reibstein read a very early draft and generously gave her professional observations about contemporary practice amongst respected therapists. This was invaluable and helped me fashion Margot’s idiosyncratic modus operandi.
