“That means the world to me, Dad.” I loved that he had called to tell me that. My dad was just so great.
“I love you, sweetheart. Keep up the good work.”
“I love you, too, Dad. Bye.”
There was a click on the other end and tears welled up in my eyes. I had really needed to hear that from my father. He wasn't always open about his feelings, but when he did, he really made up for it. I was thrilled that he had read something of mine and genuinely enjoyed it. Connie saw tears spill out of my eyes and hugged me tight. “You deserve this, girl. I think you are going to have a great career. Your dad obviously loves you very much.”
“Thank you.”
We sat down at the kitchen table with our coffee and compared each other’s social media posts. I wiped the tears off my cheeks, relieved that things were starting to look up.
“What really surprised me is all the joyful comments,” I said as certain posts caught my eye. “Where were they when he was being accused? Everyone seems so excited that he is innocent and now able to play and before they were ready to feed him to the wolves. Like, what the hell is that?”
“People are like that. They are sheep and can't think for themselves. They just follow what everyone else is doing. They thought they finally found something to explain his talent, so they didn't bother to question it. People love scandal and gossip – they feed off of it. Look at the celebrities around you. People don't like happy couples. They want to read the dirt about the cheating scandals and who is breaking up. It's sad, really.”
“Well, I wish more of his fans would have been supportive. Things were really bad for him for awhile there.”
“I'm sure the real fans were with him the whole time, but this is a big world we live in. Just be happy that it's over.”
“Yeah, I'm sure you're right. I just can't believe the turnaround. But obviously, it's good news for everyone, and I'm really happy he gets to play today.”
I couldn't have been more excited about the attention I was getting for breaking the news of Bennett's innocence, but I was really surprised by how my audience seemed to have switched their attitude so drastically. It was really weird. Not everyone had been a fan of my articles when I was trying to stick by Bennett throughout the accusations, but here everyone was praising me now that he was innocent. When I was focusing on just his allegations, people were eating it up as if they were sure he was guilty and now they were going to the game. I really couldn't understand it. It was all a little messed up in my opinion, but I guessed I shouldn't argue or worry about it. Bennett was okay now and able to play on his team and that was what mattered. Not anyone's opinion on the matter.
There was no point in questioning it. I would just roll with the punches and see what happened next, but I would just keep it all in the back of my mind, just in case I needed it for future reference.
Chapter Four
Going into the game, I was completely pumped. The stands were packed with fans as usual, and it put a smile on my face. I grabbed myself a couple franks and a beer before heading to my seats. I had some of the best seats in the house, so I always had a good view of the game. My father always bought them for me and it made going to the game that much better.
The practice portion was already over, so I didn't get to see Bennett until he came out for the game. I could just imagine his excitement of being there, something he had probably worried would never happen again. When his team came out onto the field, I saw him right away. He had his arms splayed out in the air and was turning in circles around. He was embracing his innocence and showing everyone he was back for good. I had a huge smile on my face as I watched Bennett – he couldn't have looked happier than he did in that moment. I was so proud of him.
The game got underway, and I cheered exuberantly for my man as he went about winning the game for his team. His pitching was exceptional and I knew it was all part of him showing the city that he knew what he was doing. He had done nothing wrong, and it was obvious that his team was happy to have him back.
The crowd was crazy all around me as they cheered Bennett on. I couldn't have been more surprised considering what Bennett had been through in the past week. One of the great parts of being at the games was the crowd. They brought the energy and intensity to the game. If you were in the crowd, you could really feel their excitement about being there. You could feel the love in the air at that moment for Bennett, and it really made me wonder how many of them had believed him. How many of them had believed Bennett throughout the whole ordeal? Or were they just coming around now that his innocence had been proven?
There was no point in dwelling on it, but it was a difficult thing not to do. Although I was an unwilling participant, it probably didn't help that my articles had helped cause the media frenzy that had fuelled people's dislike for Bennett. The articles helped people conspire against him. I even had to admit that the way the evidence had originally come out, it had appeared as if Bennett were guilty. Even I could admit to that, so all those people that don't know Bennett personally – what are they supposed to believe?
It didn't matter anyways; he was found innocent at that was all that mattered.
The games that had taken place in Bennett's absence had not gone so well. It had even looked like they were in a downward spiral, so it was great to see Bennett back on top once again.
I stayed throughout the whole game; cheering Bennett on and seeing his team win their first game since he had been away. I stood up and cheered along with the crowd as they went wild..
I was confident everything was going to be alright from then on.
Chapter Five
The weeks following the game were amazing. Things between Bennett and me only seemed to be getting better the more time we spent with each other. My man was an amazing catch, and I was a lucky woman. He was kind, attentive, and always made me feel like number one. At that point, we were basically spending every moment together and I wasn't one to argue about that. I couldn't have been happier with how our relationship was going, and I wanted it to keep going along the same lines. I had finally found someone that was true to me and wanted to build something real with me. The drama was over for the time being and that helped things out between us a lot. I didn't have to worry about another scandal breaking because there just wasn't anything to talk about. It was nice to be in a somewhat normal relationship again without any front-page news going along with it.
I couldn't deny the fact that I was falling in love with Bennett. Could you blame me? The guy was just so absolutely dreamy. Of course I was falling in love with him, there were probably a hundred other girls wishing they were in my position. He was everything I wanted in a man and partner and finding him had been a true gift. Things between us were moving fast, but I didn't want to complain about that after everything we had already been through. It was best to just enjoy what was going on between us because we never knew when it could turn the other way again.
When I was out and about, especially at school, I made sure to continue to downplay our relationship. I didn't want anyone sniffing around again and causing us any more trouble. I didn't need any more nightmares – we had just gone through one and it was more than enough for a lifetime. Deep down I didn't think it really mattered, I was certain we were considered old news at that point, but I wasn't taking any chances. I just wanted to be happy for a while and not worry about whether or not we would be front page news the next day. Bennett seemed to feel the same way and that had a lot to do with why we were so in sync with each other.
The spark that we had for each other wasn't old news, though. It burned brighter every day we were together. I had always loved the fact that we had a great connection and that part had never died off – if anything, it just got better. Especially in the bedroom – wow was all I could say about our sex life. I loved every aspect of it.
That night, we were at the burger joint having a late dinner. We were waiting for our check to arrive and were just chatting with each other. The conversati
ons between us were always natural and light; we never had to try too hard to find anything to say to each other.
“Oh, I am so stuffed. I can't believe I ate so much, but those burgers are to die for.” I was holding back a burp that I didn't want to escape.
Bennett laughed. “I love a girl that eats in a healthy way. Too many salads can make a girl bitter. I'm pretty stuffed, myself.”
“Well, what do you say to going back to my place and having dessert?” I said with a wink. Please, please say yes to some dessert, I thought.
“I would say that I hope the waitress hurries back here with the check.” He winked back at me.
I giggled. All I could think about was going to bed with Bennett, in truth it was all I could think about most days when it came to Bennett. I was just so amazed with how well things were going between us. I had zero complaints at the moment and all I wanted to do was take him home and ravage him. Looking at him across the table, his mouth, that sexy jawline that happened to be covered in stubble,, he was so handsome and I wanted to devour him immediately. Where was that waitress, anyways? Did she really need to be serving other customers at that moment? I needed to get my man home immediately.
“I have to say, Emmi, that lately I have just been having the best time with you. I think things have been going great for us, especially since the press has left us alone.”
I smiled. “I couldn't agree more. Thank God that's all over with because who needs it? I'm so happy now.”
“Yeah, the team has been pretty supportive through all this and they were really happy to have me back.”
“I bet – you are a strong player, without you the team is weakened. That much was obvious by your absence. Just keep doing what you're doing and everything you want will fall into place.”
“I know you're right, Emmi. Thank you.” He was smiling warmly at me.
The waitress finally arrived with the bill and Bennett paid it quickly. We were anxious to get out of there and back to my place.
When I opened the door to my apartment, I turned to Bennett immediately. He leaned in and his mouth claimed mine in a manner that dared me to stop him. I became wet instantly as my body knew what it was in store for. I felt dizzy once again. This time, however, it wasn't due to the injury, but to Bennett's close proximity and the fact that his tongue was making me ache for him.
His mouth left mine briefly and he just stared at me. I could tell he was feeling everything that I was. He wanted me, mind and body, and he would do his best effort to claim me.
“I'm going to make you feel really good, Emmi, if it's the last thing I do,” he growled in my ear, and I moaned in response. He drove me wild mentally and physically, and I ached for him in more than one way.
He leaned in again and slipped his hand around my neck to pull me to him. He tasted sweet and alluring when claimed my mouth once again. His mouth was searing hot to the touch, and I moaned when he slipped his tongue into my mouth. His kisses were fevered as if he needed my mouth in order to live. I sucked on his tongue slowly, tasting him before I pulled away. He pulled me in again as he was not finished with tasting me himself. Our kisses grew more passionate as his hand found my breast, kneading it softly. I pulled my shirt over my head quickly and tossed it aside. He reached around to unclasp my bra and stared down at my full breasts.
“God, you are beautiful.”
His mouth found my nipple, and he sucked, nipped, and licked it. The sensation caused a throb in between my legs that I wanted him to extinguish. He replaced his mouth with his fingers and pulled on my nipple, causing a slight pain. I liked it; everything he did to my body made me so turned on that I thought I might lose my mind.
He was wearing loose track pants, and I found his cock easily – big and hard bouncing loosely in his pants. I was about to get it good and I could barely stand it.
“Do you want it? Do you want my cock in your mouth?”
I nodded, loving the way he talked to me. When we joined like this, nothing else mattered but the pleasure between the two of us. He slipped out of his pants, his cock suddenly before me. I got down onto my knees right there in my living room and took his cock into my mouth and sucked on it. My tongue swirled against his shaft and then around his tip. A guttural moan escaped him causing me to suck harder.
“Oh God, Emmi. That feels so good.”
He pulled his cock out of my mouth and pulled me up to him. We kissed hard and he picked me up into his arms. He carried me to the couch and laid me down. I undid the button on my jeans and slid them off. He roughly pulled my panties off and tossed them aside, as well. “Mmmm, you look good. I'm going to eat you right up, Emmi.”
I moaned as I spread my legs wider, eager to have his mouth taste me. He bent forward and licked my pussy slowly, taking in my wetness as if he would die without me in his mouth. He licked the sides of my opening, teasing my pussy and causing me to moan loudly. When he touched me, I ached for cock so badly. I wanted him to slide inside me and give me a good pounding. He took my clit in his mouth and sucked on it causing my pussy to drip.
“Oh God...oh God...”
“Does that feel good, sweetheart?”
“I think I'm going to cum.”
“Let's see if I can make you come really hard.”
He put his hot mouth back on my clit and sucked while he buried a finger inside my pussy. I felt delirious as he started pumping away. It was all too much at once, and I cried out as my pussy exploded, covering his fingers with cum.
He sat up and claimed by mouth once again, his tongue finding mine. I could taste my pussy on his lips and I burned to have him inside me.
“Please, Bennett. God, I need you. I need you so badly.”
He smiled as he continued to rub my clit with his fingers. I had never felt so horny in all my life, and I needed to feel his length pushed into me.
“I want you, too, Emmi. God, I've been thinking about this moment all day. Your pussy feels incredible.”
“Then you can have me.” Bennett positioned himself in the missionary position and put my legs up onto his shoulders. He entered me slowly and I gasped with how big he felt as he bore in deep.
“You're nice and tight, baby. God, you feel so good.”
I leaned into the pillows, feeling heady with pleasure. He fit inside me perfectly, and I got a wave of pleasure every time he moved. He began pumping a little faster, causing me to moan loudly. He was pounding into my G-spot and I could feel my pussy building up for another orgasm.
He could feel me tense around his cock. “Come on, baby, cum all over my cock.”
He kept fucking me harder as I exploded onto him. I was lost within the waves of pleasure he was creating. I cried out again as another orgasm claimed me and he spilled inside of me at the same time.
He pulled out, and I felt his juices spill out of me. He lay down beside me and spooned me on the couch. “Are you okay, Emmi?”
“Yes,” I whispered.
I closed my eyes and lay there beside him knowing that I now had my hands full. I was falling for that guy so hard and I had the feeling he was falling for me, too. His cock had made my body hum and that was nowhere near what he did to my mind.
Chapter Six
“I just had the best sex ever yesterday. I swear, this guy must have taken classes somewhere.”
Connie laughed. “Do I really need to be hearing this or does this fall under too much information?”
“I'm sorry, I can't help it. He's just so amazing at it. I honestly just want to live in my bedroom, or his bedroom, it doesn't really matter.”
“I don't know what to tell you. I can't remember the last time I had an orgasm.”
“Oh no. Connie, you need to get back into the dating game. It isn't all about school, you know. Plus, you're hot – you should be dating someone.”
“I know. Trust me I have definitely thought about it, but sometimes school just takes over and I don't think about the rest. You know what it's like homework, homework, and more ho
mework. Who has time for a social life? Not me, I can tell you that much.”
“Yeah, tell me about it. I have a test this week that pretty much has taken over my life. That and Bennett, of course.”
“Well, I can't tell you how great it is to hear that you guys are doing so well, even if it is x-rated news.”
I laughed. “Yeah, I can't get over how well things are going between us. It's like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. We practically spend every waking moment together and a lot of that time is spent in the bedroom, I'm not going to lie.”
“Well, there's nothing wrong with that. You guys deserve a break from all the crazy madness. That was a little much for anybody.”
“Oh, I know. What a mess.”
We were at a small café drinking wine. We had never been there before, but I totally needed a break from burgers, even if they were absolutely delicious. We had been looking for a place we could have a light lunch for once and we stumbled upon the café. We had dined on Caesar salad and baguettes and it had been perfect. I was thinking long and hard about ordering dessert – especially since I eyeballed the chocolate soufflé on the menu.
“I think what is going on between you and Bennett is great and it's what you both need right now. You need to focus on each other for awhile, let the rest of the nonsense pass for a bit.”
“What do you mean?”
“I'm talking about focusing on your relationship for awhile. Bennett needs a break from thinking about baseball, especially after what he just went through, and you need a break from thinking about school. So focus on each other and don't worry so much about everything else. Those things will fall in place like they are supposed to. Relationships shouldn't be this stressful and you guys had more than your fair share of stress, so you need to focus on the good right now and let the rest figure itself out.”
“Yeah, I know. You are totally right. Sometimes I worry that things are moving too fast between us. We have only been dating for a matter of weeks and we have already slept together, more than once, and we spend every waking hour together. I'm falling for him hard and I'm pretty sure he feels the exact same way. What if we moved too fast? I don't want to ruin things between Bennett and me because we didn't take it easy. I just don't know what to think.”
