Falling Hard

Raine, who had just finished setting up her keyboard and microphone stand, looked between Romi and me. “That wasn’t what I was expecting to ever come out of your mouth, Zee. French out of Romi, yes. But sap out of you?” She pressed the back of her hand to my forehead. “Is the world ending?”

Ignoring her, I looked around again. Mitch and Aurora, Blake and Cat, Lilly and Hutch, Grayson and me, and I suspected even Professor Kelley and Isabella. “It worked,” I gasped, my hands flying to my mouth. I looked from Romi to Raine to Grayson. “It worked...the day Grayson almost hit me on the bridge...the legend...”

“I don’t understand wha -” Raine went silent, her eyes glued behind me. I spun around to see Grayson’s two brothers flanking me. There were both staring.

It was hard to remember that my friends didn’t all know each other yet. “Loren, Fenton, this is my best friend Raine and my twin sister Romi. Raine and Ghosty? This is Loren and Fenton.”

Loren reached out to Raine, who accepted his hand cautiously. Fenton nodded at Romi, completely transfixed. I swear no one had blinked for a solid minute.

I glanced over at Grayson, who had stopped unpacking and was shaking his head in disbelief. A huge smile cut across his face and I knew what he was thinking. Apparently, we weren’t the last ones who would fall in love on the Pont d’Amour.

See what the Pont D’Amour has in store for Raine, Summer 2015.

  About Heather Novak

Heather, a hopeless romantic since the age of six, spent her nights reading vampire novels under her covers with a flashlight. After graduating from Wayne State University with awards in film and music, and saying goodbye to her decade-long radio career with Somewhere In Time Radio, she decided to combine her love of powerful imagery and emotional storytelling and started writing romance. Heather is the historian for her Romance Writers of America Greater Detroit chapter and is the paranormal coordinator for the Booksellers’ Best Awards.

She currently resides near Detroit with the love of her life and several imaginary (and hypoallergenic) pets. She strongly supports the use of sarcasm and the Oxford Comma.
