Family: The Club Girl Diaries Book 5
Page 20
I soon found myself laying on my back on the floor as my woman gripped my face and pressed her lips to mine in a kiss I could only describe as heaven. She pulled back, breathing heavily. Then I heard the words I knew I would cherish forever.
“Yes.”
“You gonna be mine?” I asked nervously, as though I hadn’t heard her right.
“Yours, Leo. Always yours.”
CHRISTMAS DAY
The women had decked out the clubhouse like it was the damn North Pole.
Candy canes and baubles were hanging everywhere. Christmas music playing in the background as people fed their faces with as much food as they could possibly fit in their stomachs.
This was my family.
My strong, crazy, and a little annoying at times family and that’s what today was all about.
The kids ran around, playing with new presents and laughing while the boys began to set up a bonfire outside for tonight. The weather wasn’t exactly freezing, but there was a definite chill in the air.
I’d given Chelsea her present this morning. I’d taken the photo of her parents and had it restored and placed in a frame. I knew how much it meant to her and I may have also grown some balls and called Deacon and thanked him for giving them to her.
I guess at the time I was just angry at seeing her so upset, but really, these pictures were the only things she had left of her mom and dad and I needed to help her cherish them.
I’d also got her some other shit. A stroller for the twins that she could run with knowing that running was something she was missing desperately at the moment, and some smelly shit that I thought would be good on her.
What can I say—I’m fucking amazing.
“Can I have everyone’s attention,” my girl called out as she made her way over to me, holding a small box. The room eased into silence and I narrowed my eyes suspiciously. “I haven’t given Op his Christmas present yet, and we also haven’t given you all our present yet.” She tilted the box to everyone, and on top it had written—BOYS OR GIRLS?
A cheer went up and people started yelling guesses.
Chel hushed them with her ‘take no shit’ voice and then turned to me with a sly smile. “It was really hard to decide what to get you.”
I shrugged. “You ain’t gotta get me anything.”
“But I did.” She smirked and suddenly, I was almost afraid to ask what it was. She turned away from me and pulled at the hem of her shirt, slowly lifting it up her back. It only took a couple inches before I realized just what she’d done.
“You’re fucking kidding me,” I growled.
She giggled softly and looked over her shoulder at me. “Well, technically, it’s only airbrushed. After talking to Art we decided it was best to wait. But as soon as this pregnancy was done, it was becoming permanent.”
The look in her eyes was intense, as though she wanted me to understand how much these words meant to her and how much she knew they would mean to me.
I read over and over what the tattoo said.
“Damn, blackbird,” I groaned.
Property of Optimus.
Fuck me.
So many different emotions ran through me. I wanted to spank her fucking ass for doing this without talking to me about it first, but I also wanted to take her upstairs and fuck her until she couldn’t breathe because of those three words.
A property patch means a lot to a brother.
We give them to our women when asking them to be our old ladies. It’s pride, to have our names on their backs, and offers them protection and safety. It’s special to us, fucking meaningful.
But this wasn’t just a patch.
This was fucking forever.
My property patch inked on her body.
Some might think that stupid or trashy, but as I looked into my woman’s eyes, I could see she knew exactly what it meant to me. She knew exactly how important those three little words were. She was mine. She would always be mine. Chelsea had been with the club for a long time. She’d lost her family once but found another within us.
She had everything it took to be a President’s Old Lady.
The club would forever be in our lives, and maybe even our children’s lives.
I spun her around and crushed my lips to hers, cupping her face with my hands as I devoured her with a resounding cheer going up around us.
“I’ll always be yours, Op,” she whispered breathlessly.
“Likewise, blackbird.”
“Can you lot stop sucking face and open the damn box!” Rose protested, drawing us apart. “I’m dying over here. I need to know.”
Blizzard slapped his hand over her mouth and chuckled. “Rose would like you to please open the box.”
Chelsea cringed, her hand going to her stomach and her eyes opening wide.
“Woman,” Blizzard growled. “Now look what you’ve done, you’ve put her into labor.”
Laughter tinkled around us, but as I grabbed Chelsea to hold her up, I noticed the wetness streaming down the side of her leg and pooling on the floor. I was frozen. “Chelsea…”
She shook her head furiously. “No, Op, it’s too early, it’s too early...” she cried softly, her voice shaking.
The world seemed to stop still for a moment.
This was it.
The babies were coming and they were coming early.
Get your fucking shit together.
“Blizzard! Help me hold her. Leo, bring my truck around to the door.” My brothers rushed around to us, Blizzard grabbing one of Chelsea’s arms and helping me lead her to a chair.
“I’ll get your hospital bag. Where is it?” Hadley asked as she and Rose hurried over, rubbing their hands on Chelsea’s arm and whispering words of support. But my woman was in shock, she kept looking at me like she didn’t know what was going on. Like it was inconceivable for this to be happening. The doctors had warned us that it was a probability. We just never thought it would be this early.
“It’s sitting by our front door,” she finally answered, and Hadley dashed off up the stairs.
“I’m going to get you a coat and a towel to sit on okay?” Rose offered and with a kiss on Chelsea’s cheek, she disappeared too.
“It’s too early, Op,” she said again, her voice shaking.
Blizzard held his hand on her shoulder in support as I crouched down in front of her. “It’s going to be okay. We’re going to go to the hospital and we’re going to see what’s going on. And you know what? We might even be able to hold our boys today.”
“They’re boys!” Blizzard crowed, the rest of the room filling with excitement.
Chelsea’s smile pulled at the corner, but I could tell she was in some kind of pain.
“I might get to hold my boys today.” I nodded, encouraging her to hold on to that thought because I didn’t want her to know that I was just as fucking scared as she was.
Camo and Ham sped on ahead to the hospital to get a wheelchair ready and let the nurses and doctors know that we were coming. Chelsea gripped her hand in mine the whole way, squeezing it tighter and tighter as the pains came and went, but not once did she complain.
It was as if she was somewhere else, barely squeaking out a sound, determined to just get through this and meet our babies on the other side.
The nurses rushed her through to the maternity floor and placed her in a room. They poked and prodded her, taking tests and other things in order to try to determine just what was going on. As soon as they set up a monitor on her stomach to capture the boys’ heartbeats, finding that they were both very regular and didn’t seem to be in distress, I calmed a little, dropping my head against Chelsea’s hand that I was still holding while she lay in the hospital bed. She still had yet to let it go, even when the nurse had come to put in her drip.
Our family was out in the waiting room, while Rose and Hadley paced just outside the doorway as we waited for the doctor to come and check her out. The contractions were getting stronger quickly, and I was getting fuck
ing nervous. I looked up when I heard the door open, but was shocked to see just who it was.
“Hey, how are we doing?” Piper asked sweetly. She was dressed in her nurse’s uniform and had a badge clipped to her pocket that read NICU. “I saw your name on the incoming chart and just wanted to come and make sure you were okay.”
I saw Chelsea smile and gesture with her hand for Piper to come closer. She pulled up a seat on the other side of the bed.
“I thought you worked at the doctor’s office?” I enquired.
Piper nodded. “I’m working both. But the NICU is my real passion.”
We all looked up as the doctor came in, picking up Chelsea’s chart and going over the questions the nurses had asked her. Another wave of pain hit her but she didn’t cry out or scream, she held it in, arching her body off the bed as I patted a damp cloth against her forehead and Piper started to count with her through it, reminding her that it would be coming back down soon.
I cringed when it finally came to him taking a look. I had to bring in Blizzard to keep me sane as the male doctor put his hand up my woman’s hole and felt around. It wasn’t pleasant either, and thank God for Piper who sat calmly and talked with my woman while I flipped the fuck out.
“Piper, can you please hit the emergency button,” the doctor said casually as he pulled his hand away. He looked to me. “Your babies are on their way right now. We need to get the NICU prepped to bring in beds and incubators for them. Because at this stage, they seem to be coping okay, but we aren’t sure what problems will arise once they’re born.”
“I’m going to run down and help the girls get the things ready for them,” Piper said as she tried to pull away, but Chelsea held her hand firmly.
“Please stay.”
Piper looked unsure, her eyes shifting over to me.
I nodded. “If it makes her more comfortable, you need to stay.” I turned and narrowed my eyes at the doctor who simply held his hands up without argument.
The nurses ran in and were immediately sent away to get the beds for my babies, while others came in to help prep.
“Oh my gosh,” Chelsea groaned loudly. “They’re coming, Op!”
The doctor was suddenly alert and rushed over. “Do you feel like you need to push?”
“Yes… yessss,” she moaned, tossing her head back and forth.
He pulled a chair up and pushed the blanket back, snapping on his gloves. “All right, mama. Let’s get you those beautiful little babies.”
Forty-five minutes of pushing and both our boys were snuggled into my arms. The room around me filled with club members, old ladies, children, club girls, prospects. My family. My friends.
Jaxon and Oliver.
Two little boys.
Jaxon was three pound six and Oliver was a heftier four pound.
They’d given me ten minutes with them to show them off to my family before they were to be taken and put in their incubators. For now, they would be put on oxygen and given a feeding tube until their lungs developed further and strengthened, and they learned how to suck. Then I could start breastfeeding.
“Fuck me, you make cute babies,” Eagle muttered as he looked over my shoulder.
Op leaned on the edge of my bed, Jaxon’s tiny hand wrapped around his thick finger as he slept. Harlyn sat at my feet, eyeing her two baby brothers in complete and utter awe and devotion.
Piper was still on my other side, her eyes scanning the room, slightly stunned. I refused to let her leave me, though. She knew exactly what I needed to hear while going through that birth. While Optimus was my rock, and constantly reminded me that when I was done, I would be able to hold my boys in my arms, Piper helped me keep a clear head and stay calm just when I felt like giving up.
“Welcome to the family,” I said softly, looking to each of my boys before turning my head to Piper. “And you, too. You’re in now, and we aren’t ever letting you go.”
She blushed, but the murmur around the room was all the same.
Complete agreement.
Our boys were reasonably healthy, given that they were almost eight weeks premature. We were expecting time in the hospital, and I was okay with that, knowing that this is where they would be best looked after until they were healthy enough for us to take home.
My body ached. There was pain in places I didn’t even want to explain.
But as I looked down at their peaceful little faces, it was all damn worth it.
We created two lives.
It was magical and special, and it consumed my heart with so much love I felt like it could explode.
Two more members of our family.
We were crazy. We went through hell. We fought, we made up. We were dysfunctional in every kind of way imaginable, but we were who we were.
And my family was rivaled by none.
