“Hope.” I know her stage name but saying her real name makes Molly realize how important this is to me.
“Okay.” She says. “I promise to look after her.” She adds before looking at Sam who has his eyes wide on me wondering what the hell I’m talking about and I know I’ll have some explaining to do when we’re both alone. He nods his head at me in understanding before returning his eyes to Molly, checking her out as if she was some sort of a dream.
I look at Molly who has her gaze on Sam. My friend seems to be mesmerized by the woman who stands before him. I’ve never seen him this way, his drink left untouched for the few minutes I’ve been back and I don’t blame him.
I spend another hour there, trying to keep my friend company even when I know that he has his eyes and head some other place.
The crowd screams out her stage name that has me wanting to rip out their voice boxes I turn and see her walking towards the stage, wearing blue lingerie this time. Her choice of color makes me want to see her walking in them all the time, but in my house, where no other man can see her. I gaze at her, taking in every luscious curve on her body imprinting on my mind like a tattoo and when our eyes meet, it takes everything in me not to walk to that stage and break every arm of each man who’s trying to grab her ass. That’s my ass.
I watch her for another minute before standing up from my seat, her eyes on me as she sways her body and I smile. An honest smile because I know her days working here are numbered. I want her out of this place like yesterday.
I lean in and whisper to Sam thinking he’ll be leaving with me but he turns and looks at me and says he’ll call me later and that he’ll be spending a few more hours here. I don’t believe it. What has Molly done to my best friend?
On my way out, I pause and turn, looking at Hope, she has her eyes on the crowd and I wait for her to lift her eyes towards me when she does, I blow her a kiss as I see her blushing under the light she takes her lower lip between her teeth, and that’s enough for me to know that her genuine smile was all for me. Nothing to do with pretense because she’s performing. She’s my Hope. With that, I walk outside the building and walk towards my car. I take in a sharp breath before unlocking my car, opening it, I get inside as I buckle my seatbelt and drive off.
I hate leaving her there but I have to trust her enough that she’ll keep her word, and that she’ll take care of herself for me and trust that my friend will be safe to find his way home since I couldn’t tear him away from the woman who had him all happy.
