Getting Physical With Doctor Wolf

“Shut it.” Ashley snapped, giving the baby carrier a little shake.

“I heard that’s bad to do.” Kyle said coming out of his bedroom without a shirt.

Ashley quickly looked away and down at the baby to avoid looking at Kyle’s muscular chest.

“I’m here.” She said, clearing her throat uncomfortably.

“I can see that.” He said, chuckling at her awkwardness.

“Can you put on a shirt?” She asked suddenly.

He laughed and leaned against the wall.

“Something bothering you, Ash?” He asked flirtatiously.

“I just…don’t want the baby to be scared.” She said, giving the baby carrier another shake as the child’s cries increased in volume.

He chuckled and turned back to his bedroom. She heard him talking to someone and saw a tall brunette woman emerge, wearing a scantily clad dress. Kyle said something to her in a low voice and then gave her a kiss before walking to the door. She smiled at him and leaned in for another kiss, casting an annoyed look at Ashley. He slapped her ass as she was leaving and then closed the door.

He turned to Ashley with a bored expression and went into the kitchen to have a drink.

“Friend of yours?” Ashley asked, annoyed at both the baby’s cries and her own the hurt feelings.

“The best.” He said dryly pouring himself a glass of whiskey.

She held her hand out for one and he laughed. “You have a baby. I’m not giving you alcohol.”

She rolled her eyes and wiggled her fingers. “Please, the kid will not shut up.” She begged.

He laughed and ignored her; instead he walked towards the child’s carrier. He looked into the basket and before Ashley could stop him, picked the baby up and began to coo to her. Ashley watched in amazement as Kyle got the child to stop screaming. He moved around the room cooing to her with a glass of whiskey in one hand and the baby in the other. After almost a half hour of moving around and dancing with the baby, the child fell asleep against his chest. Softly, he put her back in the baby carrier and moved it to the living room.

Ashley watched in awe as Kyle did all of this, as if it was the most natural thing in the world.

“How did you know what to do?” She asked.

He laughed and poured himself another whiskey.

“Know what?” He asked mocking her.

“Know what to do with the kid? She’s been crying ever since I took her.” Ashley said, annoyed and grateful for his help.

He shrugged, “Maybe you weren’t cut out to be a mother.” He said poking hard at an old wound. She growled and moved closer to him taking the whiskey from the counter.

“Screw you.” She said, before pouring the liquid and putting the glass to her lips.

Kyle laughed and leaned in. “Cut too deep?” He said staring her in the eye.

Ashley moved away from him, sipping her whiskey and doing everything in her power to not look over at him.

“So…how did you know?” She asked going back to her original question.

He shrugged, “Its natural. There’s nothing more to it.” He said.

“But you make it look so easy.” She protested knowing there must be something he wasn’t telling her.

“That’s because it is.” He said sighing at her naivety.

She glared at him and he smirked back at her.

“Fine. Whatever. Don’t tell me.” She said, drinking the rest of her whiskey before pouring another.

“So what am I supposed to do with her?” Kyle asked, watching Ashley carefully.

“You don’t have to worry about it. I’ll watch her.” Ashley said looking down at her glass.

Kyle made a noise of protest. “No offense Ash, but I don’t really want you here all the time.” He said.

She turned to glare at him, “And why not? Because you can’t have friends over?” She demanded to know.

He smirked at her tone, jealousy slipping into it.

“Maybe. It’s just…we don’t mix well.” He said.

  “Mix well?” She asked confused.

“Yeah, we aren’t good together.” He clarified.

“Kyle, I’m not trying to sleep with you or date you, hell, I don’t even really want to be here, but I have to because your place—“

“Yeah, yeah, yeah.” He said cutting her off with a wave of his hand.

She watched him carefully. “What are you really trying to say?” She asked after a pause.

“I don’t want you getting the wrong idea if you stay here.” He said bluntly.

  “What wrong idea?” She asked.

“That we can…rekindle what we have because we’re playing house with a stolen baby.” He said, watching her for a reaction.

She rolled her eyes dramatically and scoffed. “Seriously? Really? No! Not gonna happen. I told myself a long time ago we were done. I’m here for one reason and one reason only. You’re house is literally undetectable, I need that in order to complete my plan.” Then she said, patronizingly.

He paused, “I’m just saying don’t get your hopes up.” He said.

“You are so pathetic,” She said turning around to face him. “We only dated for all of two minutes.” She slammed her glass down in frustration.

“Two years actually, and you are. Let’s be honest, Ash. You never did get over me.” He said boldly.

  “Excuse me?” She asked.

“You heard me.” He said, smirking at her.

She growled. He always did know the way to get under her skin.

“Screw you. You are a…a terrible person.” She said.

“Wow. Such big and terrible words from such a pristine girl.” He mocked.

“I am over you. I’ve got my eyes set on someone else, and this baby,” She said pointing to Coral.

“She is gonna help me get him. You’re just someone I can use, cause that’s all you’re worth to me.” It wasn’t exactly true, yes, she still wanted Cas and yes, taking the baby would force him to look for her, but those two reasons weren’t mutually exclusive. Even if they had to kill each other, maybe they would have to do it passionately, so passionately that they would have to give themselves totally to the other, just as Ashley always fantasized it would be like.

“So, you don’t care if I bring girls home then?” He asked, interrupting her thoughts. He was watching for a reaction.

“Look, we’re all just trying to get laid, except, I would never touch you again.” She said before turning away from him and going to get the baby from the living room. As soon as she touched the baby carrier, the child woke up and began to cry. She tried to ignore it as she held her head up in glory.

“Taking care of a baby is natural, huh?” She asked walking into his room. “Well, I guess I have to get used to it.” She said before she slammed the door shut. Kyle watched her in amusement and a slightly bruised ego.

  Chapter 8

It had been two days and the police were no closer to finding Coral. Cas and Hannah were becoming more and more edgy. At this point, neither of them talked to the other. Hannah was angry that Cas was still ignoring her and generally acting like an ass. Whereas Cas was angry with Hannah for being angry with him.

Cas had started to look for Coral on his own. He wasn’t exactly sure where to start, but he figured that looking in town was his best bet. He had found Hannah before, so why couldn’t he find Coral, he thought, he did have his werewolf instincts, after all.

He tried to brainstorm places Ashley would go and finally he decided she had to be working with someone else. Determined, Cas tried to put together everything he knew about Ashley and what had happened last time when Hannah was taken. He expanded his search to the surrounding areas, knowing she would probably be too afraid to stay in town.

So every day after work, he went around town trying to gather information. He was barely at home and he knew Hannah worried but his main priority was finding Ashley and Coral. He just prayed that it was sooner rather than later.

&n
bsp; When Cas did sleep, he had nightmares, about his baby being out there in the world, alone. So he continued to search, hoping against hope that a lead would turn into a path and he’d find his daughter.

It was five days after the kidnapping when Hannah finally broke the silence. It was two days before the full moon and Hannah had been feeling restless, she couldn’t pinpoint why, but something felt off to her. She was even more argumentative and aggressive than normal and Cas was out late at night so she waited up for him. She was pacing the length of the living room like a rabid animal. When he got home, she practically launched herself at him.

“What?” He snarled, annoyed at her for being up waiting for him.

“Where have you been?” She asked.

“Looking.” He said vaguely, going to move past her.

“We need to talk.” She said putting a hand on his shoulder.

He turned to look at her and sighed, “I’m really not in the talking mood.”

“Well I am.” She retorted, feeling the aggression that had been swirling within her for several days.

“What do you wanna talk about?” He asked tiredly.

“Us. You. Coral.” She said watching him.

  “Hannah—“

“I know you’ve been out looking, but how do you expect to find anything when they could be anywhere?” She blurted.

“I’ll find them. I have my instincts and I feel like I’m already on a path to a lead.” He said, annoyed with her nagging.

She laughed bitterly, “Cas, just let the cops deal with it.”

“I didn’t let the cops deal with you.” He said quietly.

She frowned, “Then how did you find me?”

“I looked. And that’s what I’m going to do with Coral.” He said.

“You can’t keep doing this, though. I want my boyfriend back. We’ve been so distant and after we talked about moving forward—“

“That was before Coral was taken.” He said angrily.

“I don’t want to fight with you anymore.” She said quietly.

He opened his mouth to retort, and then closed it. “I don’t either.” He said after a long minute.

“Stop blaming me for everything going wrong, then.” She said quietly.

“I don’t blame you.” He said at once. “I blame me.” He added after a minute.

“Regardless, it’s not doing anyone any good. If you want to look for Coral, I can’t stop you, but don’t pull away from me. I need you.” She said, wishing he’d understand. “I miss her too.” She added, near tears.

He sighed and nodded, “I know. I don’t mean…I know.” He said pulling her in for a hug.

They stayed like that for a few minutes until Hannah pulled away and looked him in the eye.

“There’s something else.” She said after a minute.

“What is it?” He asked concerned.

“There’s something…weird going on. I feel…I don’t know, like something’s changing? Do you think it’s from my coma?” She asked nervously.

He bit his lip and looked away guiltily. He knew what was happening to her, he just didn’t want to admit it.

  “Cas?” She prompted anxiously.

He looked away, not knowing how to begin.

“Do you know something?” She asked, touching his arm lightly, wishing he would look at her.

“I may…have bitten you.” He whispered, his eyes trained on the floor.

Her mouth dropped open in shock. “Bitten…like bitten?” She asked amazed.

He nodded slowly. “Yeah…” He trailed off.

“Cas. Explain. Now.” She demanded poking him in the arm.

He shifted uncomfortably. “Well uh…I’m not sure what you want me to say.” He said after a minute of stuttering.

“Why would you do that? After how much you hate it and how much you worried Coral would be the same! Why would you do this to me?” She yelled moving away from him. She wrapped her arms around herself, feeling violated.

  “I’m sorry.” He said lamely.

She shook her head. “That’s not good enough.”

“Hannah, come on! You were dying! Would you rather be dead?” He asked rhetorically.

“I’d rather be dead than a monster.” She blurted out.

His eyes widened at her admission and she covered her mouth in horror.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t…I’m sorry.” She whispered. He looked away feeling heartsick and bile rising in his stomach. “I’m sorry.” She said again moving to him.

But her touch burned him and he moved back, not wanting to be anywhere near her.

“So is that what you really think? That I’m a monster? I’m a beast?” He asked looking down at the ground. He didn’t want to look at her for fear of what he would find out the answer.

She was silent for a minute before opening her mouth. “No. I didn’t mean that.”

“Well you said that.” He said bitterly.

“Cas…I didn’t mean it. It just slipped out.” She said.

He laughed dryly and moved away when she moved nearer.

“I’m scared, OK I’m a werewolf now! I’m like you! I didn’t ask for this.” She said, trying to get him to understand.

“I didn’t ask for this either, Hannah! Remember! I didn’t ask for a child either or a girlfriend that thinks I’m a beast! I didn’t ask for anything that is happening right now. So I turned you in to a werewolf. Big deal, you’re alive aren’t you? You got to meet your daughter and you’re alive.” He snarled, his anger rising to the surface and finally spilling over.

“I am alive, but…I don’t know how to be a werewolf. What is going to happen in two days? What am I going to turn into?” She asked staring at him.

He glared at her, “I didn’t know either, Hannah, and I’ve managed fine.” He said before turning away and back to the front door.

She watched as he left, this time, she didn’t stop him.

Hannah felt pain creep all over her body, under her skin and pulling. She could feel her body changing and becoming an animal as the bright full moon’s light lit upon her. She moaned loudly, feeling her bones break and reform. Her eyes changed and the smells around her became stronger. Hannah felt a kind of freedom she had never felt before. Her moans turned to howls and she knew then that she had turned.

She howled at the moon and began to run as fast as she could, trying to escape everything that had happened. The wind felt good and she began to move faster, feeling the freedom beneath her. She was finally free from the restraints that held her; she felt wonderful. Her pace quickened as she reached the woods, she began to move around in the darkness.

She heard a noise and turned to look at the source. She saw Cas in his wolf form, staring at her. The anger she felt at him seemed to melt away when their wolf eyes lay upon each other. She was thankful that he turned her now because it allowed her to be her full self.

Cautiously she walked over to him and howled. He hesitantly howled back. Then, she nuzzled his neck and he reciprocated. She felt like she was home.

A few days after her first transformation, Cas got a lead on where Ashley was. Well, it was actually the police that had found the lead, but he was going to get there first. He told Hannah he was going into the city to check out the werewolf pack there and see if they had any information. He didn’t want to lie to her, but the way things were going it seemed to him like their relationship was breaking at the seams.

He followed the police into the city. He found the apartment easily enough. For a moment, he wondered if this was a trap. He walked up the flight of stairs, hoping to God it was the right place. He picked the lock on the door and as quietly as possible, snuck in to the apartment. It was empty. As he walked in, he made note of the exits and where everything was, including where he could hide, if someone came in. He didn’t hear a baby or see any baby things, but that didn’t mean Coral wasn’t there. He hoped he was in the right place when he felt a presence enter the room he was
in.

“Can I help you?” a voice asked from behind Cas.

Cas whipped around and stared at the man behind him. Kyle eyed Cas, interestedly. A smirk was twisted on his lips and Cas felt a shiver run up his spine. He knew he was in the right place.

“You must be Ashley’s friend.” The man said smirking at him. “Well, she thinks you’re better than me? Strange.”
