Secret Ops: Ty's Revenge
Page 14
“Who’s the woman sitting on the couch in the toga outfit?” Aaron sounds jealous.
“Jessica. She was injured.” I don’t elaborate anymore.
“She belong to you?”
“No.” Not yet.
“Didn’t look like it. You looked very cozy.”
“Aaron.” I warn
She take a deep breath then says. “I just want to know, is she staying here while you’re gone?”
“She has too. Aaron.”
“I’m not her maid. I’ll take care of Sara. I’ll cook and clean and do what I have to for Sara, but you better find someone else to take care of her.”
“Aaron. Jessica has amnesia she doesn’t remember anything. Be fucking nice to her.”
“How?”
“It’s a long story. I can’t go into detail about it.”
“Can’t or won’t?”
“Both.”
“What about Sara?”
“I found her while on a mission. Jessica doesn’t know this and I’d like to keep it that way. Sara has been through one hell of an ordeal. She doesn’t talk to strangers. She only talks to me, Jessica and only recently Lazarus. It will take her some time to warm up to you, if at all. She has trust issues. She doesn’t like Sylvia or Cassie. Tango is not on her list of favorite people either. She likes to feed his puppies and she loves to play tea party.”
“You haven’t changed at all.” She narrows her eyes at me.
“What the hell is that supposed to mean. You asked and I told you.”
“It means that you gave me a fucking report, Ty.”
“You never could be satisfied.”
“You were never around to satisfy me.”
“Aaron we aren’t here to argue,” I take a deep breath, “William is after Sara. He is going to try and take her legally. I can’t let that happen. If he gets his hands on her…” I can’t finish.
Aaron knows about William and what he’s capable of. She has watched me over and over again try to catch him. “I’m sorry. She seems like a sweet child.”
“She is.”
“How long will you be gone?”
“I don’t know.”
“Okay.”
I turn going back to the living room where Jessica and Sara are still sitting on the couch. Jessica doesn’t meet my eyes. “You okay?” I Whisper in her ear.
“I’m fine.”
She doesn’t look fine. She looks… upset. Why would she be upset? Unless it has something to do with Aaron. “You sure?”
“I said I was. Didn’t I?”
She is defiantly upset. I’ve been around women long enough to know when one is pissed. And this one is pissed. “Sara honey. Would you go help Aaron? I bet she wants to make brownies.” Sara hesitates for a moment then heads into the kitchen. I turn to Jessica. “Talk to me.” I demand.
“There’s nothing.”
I turn her face so I’m looking in her beautiful eyes. “Talk to me.” I repeat.
She looks embarrassed. “Who is she to you?”
“She’s my ex-wife. It was a long time ago.” If I didn’t know any better I would think she was jealous of Aaron. Why I have no idea, unless she has… a thing for me. “Why?”
“No reason.”
“Try again.”
“I could just tell there was something there.” She is being very evasive.
“Jessica. Whatever you thought you saw isn’t there. Like I said it was a long time ago and it didn’t work out.”
“You don’t have to explain it to me. I don’t care either way. I mean it’s not like…you know. It’s none of my business.”
“I really don’t know. Explain it to me.”
“I just did.”
“No you didn’t.” I want her to say it.
“It’s nothing to me. That’s all.”
“Are you jealous of Aaron?”
“What? No, of course not. Why would I be?” She defends.
“Because you have a thing for me.”
She rears back as if I have slapped her. Then her face goes crimson. “Now you are delusional.”
“No I’m right.”
“No your wrong. I don’t even know you, hell I don’t even know me.”
“Doesn’t matter.”
“Don’t you have something to do, beside argue with me?”
“Not at the moment.” Now I’m teasing her. I love seeing her blush.
“I’m sure your ex-wife needs help.” She grits out.
I don’t know why, but I take her face in my hands once again kissing her soft lips. Sliding my tongue across the seam of her lips. I enter her hot moist mouth sliding my tongue against hers. She moans softly and I can’t help, but let out one of my own. Jessica breaks the kiss suddenly. She pushes me away from her and not a moment too soon. Lazarus and Dr. Bailey walks into the room. How the hell did I not hear them? I am always on alert not matter what I’m doing. I can hear a chopper miles away, but I didn’t hear those two coming in the room.
“Dr. Bailey I would like to go back to my room now.” Jessica informs him.
“I’ll help you.” I say taking her in my arms before she can protest.
She looks embarrassed. I smile to myself. I am responsible for that beautiful blush caressing her cheeks. She doesn’t say a word. Lazarus smiles a knowing smile. Dr. Bailey is grinning from ear to ear. “Shut the hell up.” I say to both of them.
Once I have Jessica in her room and we are alone again. I lay her on the bed hovering over her. She has no idea how badly I want her right now. It’s been a hell of a long time since I’ve been with a woman. Too damn long. I kiss her again. This time to show her how badly I want her. Raising my head and leaning it against hers. “I want you.” I admit.
She is breathing hard. “Really?”
“Yes. Really.”
She swallows hard. “I want you too.”
“Daddy?” Sara says coming to the door.
I stand up straight. Jessica looks embarrassed all over again. I wink at her smiling. Turning to Sara as she comes all the way in the room. She climbs on the bed careful not to touch Jessica’s injured leg. Jessica straightens out Sara’s pig tails. Making sure there are no tangles. She seems to adore Sara and Sara her. They get alone great. I just worry how Aaron is going to cope with Jessica. In a way I’m glad I’m not going to be here. I know that is probably a coward’s way out.
“I have to leave in the morning.”
“Don’t go daddy.”
“I won’t be gone long sweetheart.”
“Where are you going?”
I knew Jessica would ask that. I can’t tell her the real reason. I hate lying to her. “Business.” She lets it drop. I’m guessing it’s only because Sara is here.
“Please daddy.” Sara begs.
This is killing me to do leave her. This time I’m going to get William and maybe all this will be over. “I won’t be long sweetheart. Remember what I said last night?” She nods her head. “Just as soon as I get back we are going to do all the things I said.”
“Can Jessica come with us?”
“Sure.” I don’t hesitate. I want her with us.
Chapter 18
Jessica
Ty and Lazarus has already left. Dr. Bailey is supposed to come by today. Sara is now in my room crying her little heart out. Aaron, Ty’s Ex-wife, is sitting on the chair looking as if she doesn’t know what to do. This is just great. Sara snuggles into my side her little arms are around me. I feel as if I have done this before. The memory is so damn close, but I just can’t remember. I pat Sara’s back trying to soothe her mindlessly as I try to grasp the memory. Why the hell do I feel like this has happened before? Do I have a child of my own? Have I comforted my own child like this? The room is silent except for Sara’s whimpers.
“Sara sweetie, he will be back before you know it.” I smooth her hair.
“I want my daddy.”
Aaron looks like she is getting ready to cry as well. God I can’t handle this.
I really wish Dr. Bailey or even Sylvia would come by soon. “Do you want to play tea party? I think we have real tea now. Lazarus bought some.”
“No. I want my daddy.”
I look over to Aaron and she has tears in her eyes. I have to look away, but before I do I feel the dampness run down my own cheeks. We are all crying one of those silent cries except for Sara. Aaron bring over a box of tissue I take out several wiping Sara’s face then mine. Aaron blows her nose and sniffs.
“Good god, did someone die?” Dr. Bailey asks coming in the room.
“No.” Aaron says wiping her nose.
“I’m going to give Ty a piece of my mind when he gets back.” Dr. Bailey mumbles to himself.
I laugh. Then Aaron laughs. Sara raises her head looking at us. Dr. Bailey looks annoyed. I’m guessing he doesn’t know what to do with a room full of crying girls. Sara sniffs then buries her head back in my neck winding her tiny arms around me tight.
“Sara sweetie. Let’s go feed the puppies and let Dr. Bailey tend to Jessica.” Aaron holds out her hand. Sara doesn’t make a move.
“It’s okay honey. You can come back when he is done. Maybe Dr. Bailey will help me to the living room and we can have a tea party in there.”
She raises her head again wiping her eyes with her tiny fist. “Okay.”
Dr. Bailey waits until they are out of the room before he says anything. “What to tell me why all the crying?”
“It’s kind of funny actually. Sara was crying because Ty left. Aaron was crying because Sara was and I was crying because they were.”
“Sorry. I shouldn’t have asked.” He laughs. “Okay let’s take theses bandages off. This is looking really good Jessica. You’re healing nicely. I still don’t want you up walking around though. I’ll help you to the living room.” Dr. Bailey cleans the area where the stitches are.
They aren’t as sore as they were before, but they are still tender. “Doc. Will Sylvia be coming by today?”
“Yes. I think so.”
“Good because I think I might be trying to remember something.”
“That’s great. I’ll let her know you need to speak with her.” He smiles.
“Thank you.”
“Now would you like to go sit in the living room for a while?”
“Yes please.”
Doctor Bailey lifts me in his arms carrying me to the living room. Sylvia and Sara are still outside. I can hear Sara giggling. I wait until Doctor Bailey leaves the room before I open the drawer of the side table, where I put a bobby pin. Sylvia had bought some for Sara to put in her hair. I know I shouldn’t have taken one. But yesterday, after Ty, Lazarus, Tango and the guy they call Ash retreated to the room with the locked door. It spiked my suspension. Now I feel as if I have to go in that room. Like there is something in there they are hiding and I’m the small child that is tempted to go in after being told not to.
Sara and Aaron come back inside. Sara immediately comes to sit on the couch beside me. She snuggles into my side and wraps her little arm around mine. We sit like this for a while watching cartoons. Dr. Bailey hasn’t come back yet, which makes me wonder what he is up to. These guys should know that I am getting suspicious of who they are. I want to ask what they really do, but I know they wouldn’t tell me the truth anyway. They are definitely hiding something. Ty said he had to leave on business. What kind of business did he go on? They don’t seem like the type of guys who sit in an office all day. Actually they seem to come and go whenever they want. So what are they really doing?
“A penny for your thoughts.” Aaron says sitting down on the couch with us.
Now if anyone know who these men are, it Aaron. After all she was married to Ty. Which isn’t surprising. She is beautiful. The type of woman Ty would go for if I had to guess. “Just wish I knew who I was.”
“It will come to you. How about some coffee?” She doesn’t give me time to answer before she’s up and headed to the kitchen.
I watch as she leaves the room. Why on earth would they divorce? She is really pretty and well Ty is handsome. I need to befriend this woman. Maybe she can give me some insight in on who Ty is. What the hell am I thinking? I can get involved with him. Besides I can see that Aaron still has a thing for him. The way she looks at him says she still wants him. I’m not really sure if he feels the same way. He did kiss me yesterday. Ty had asked me if I were jealous of Aaron. That was a surprise. I try to play it off as nothing, but he saw right through me. He knew I was lying.
He was so straight forward it was embarrassing. I didn’t know what to say. Hell I was taken aback by his questioning. He knew I was jealous. God that is a conversation I wish I could forget. Aaron comes back in the room with two cups of coffee in each hand. She gently sets them on the coffee table.
She sits here for a moment not saying anything. “Can I be frank with you?”
I know this isn’t going to be good. “Sure.”
“Stay away from him.” She warns.
“Stay away from who?” I play dumb. I know she is talking about Ty. I just don’t want her to think it’s that obvious to me.
“Ty. Even though we are not together anymore doesn’t mean he still doesn’t have feelings for me.”
What the hell do I say to that? I can’t argue that he doesn’t, because I really don’t know. “Aaron. I don’t know who the hell I really am. I have no idea about my life before. I don’t know if I’m married and have kids of my own. What the hell makes you think I want Ty?”
“I know he kissed you yesterday. So don’t fucking pretend you don’t know what’s going on.” She states matter of fact.
I look down at Sara who is sleeping thank God. “So he did. It didn’t mean anything.”
“A man doesn’t kiss a woman like that and it not mean anything. I think you want him.”
“Aaron I don’t give a flying fuck what you think. “
Dr. Bailey appears in the room. He looks from Aaron to me. “What’s…going…on?” He says slowly.
I relax my features. “Just having some girl talk.”
He grunts. “I have to head into town. I won’t be gone long.” He makes a quick exit.
I watch his retreating back. I guess he didn’t want anything to do with female clam staking or whatever. I’m sure Ty will hear about this. Aaron stands pacing around the room. This woman is unnerving. I watch as she turns her back to me. She is seething. Hell I don’t know what to say to her. She has it in her head that Ty and I have a thing going. She is so far off the mark it’s laughable.
“He’s mine. He will always be mine. Do you understand.” Her voice rises.
“Then why did he leave you?” I know I’m just making things worse. I should be trying to defuse this situation. If she takes the bait then I will find out exactly what kind of work he really does.
“You stupid little bitch. Do you not know how much he isn’t here? He is never in one place for very long. You think he can make you happy. News flash honey. He won’t. He still loves me. You are nothing more than a fling. Once he takes what he wants from you, he will leave you without a second though”
I let the little insult go. This is getting ridicules. I’m not arguing with her. She seems almost delusional. “Aaron. I’m not looking for a relationship with Ty. I’m not looking for anything. I just want to get my memory back. That’s it.”
She marches over to me as if she is ready to attack. “You want him. I can see it written all over your face.”
“No I really don’t. As soon as I remember who I am I’m gone. Do you think for a minute they will want to keep me around? A stranger, none of them know. I don’t think so. Lazarus found me, he feels responsible in a way. I was attached by his lions. I was almost killed. I would have died if it weren’t for these men. The only thing I feel is gratitude toward them. That’s it.”
“I don’t believe you.”
“I don’t…”
We both turn at the sound of something…exploding? Aaron’s wide eyes says it all.
What the hell was that? Did a plane crash or something? I jump up not thinking about my leg. I look around not knowing what to do. Aaron runs to the door. She quickly closes it locking a dead bolt in place. Okay this is freaking me out a little bit. Why is she dead bolting the door?
She runs over to the couch taking Sara in her arms. “Follow me.” She commands.
“What the hell is it?” I hobble behind her.
“You don’t want to know.” She runs to the locked room that I have been wanting to snoop in since I found it.
“Aaron. I really need to know what’s going on. I’m freaking out a little bit here.” That’s an understatement.
She turns abruptly. “They are coming for your or Sara. We need to get in this room.”
I pull the pin out of my Sheet that I have had wrapped around me handing it to her. “Well I can certainly see what you used to do.”
Rolling my eyes at her, I don’t respond. Now isn’t the time. “Can you pick the lock?”
“Yes.” She sets Sara down getting down on her knees sticking the pin in the lock.
She fiddles with it not making any progress. “Here give it to me.” I know this is going to be difficult. I bend down ignoring the pain that shoots all the way up my leg and to my back. It doesn’t take me long to get the door open. I guess I found one of my talents.
“Jessica. I’m scared.” Sara’s wide eyes looks frightened.
“It’s okay honey. No reason to be scared.”
“Are the bad guys coming for us?” Sara asks shakily.
I have no idea what to tell her. Thank God Aaron takes over. “It’s okay sweetie. No reason to be afraid.”
We quickly enter the room. It’s nothing more than a den. How the hell is this place going to protect us? Aaron runs over to the wall pulls a leaver that is disguised as a book. Typical. It’s almost laughable if we weren’t being hunted or whatever you want to call it. I don’t know why anyone wants to come after me or Sara. I’m totally in the dark here.
“Aaron mind filling me in on all this?” I rush out.
“Later.”
She pulls me and Sara behind her. Leading us in the secret room. The door automatically closes behind us. She flips a switch and the lights flood the hallway. So this is why the door remained locked. Who the hell are these people? Sara latches on my hand tighter. I know exactly how she feels. Aaron leads us to another room. This one is small and stacked with firearms. She closes the door behind us locking it. So now we are stuck in here and the bad guys are out there. I’m not sure if I’m comfortable with this situation. I want to get as far away from them as soon as possible.
