“This is what I wore when your dad and I ran away to Las Vegas. A tuck here and there and it will fit like a dream.” This was the first time Victoria had heard the story about her parents running away to Las Vegas to get married. It excited her and she felt it was a sign that she was doing the right thing. Valerie joined them a few minutes later and loaned her a blue crystal bracelet.

During the chopper ride, Rick used his cell to set up all the arrangements. Victoria didn’t expect much since everything was last minute. But she was pleasantly surprised. The wedding at The Little Chapel Around The Corner was something she would always remember. An Elvis impersonator sang “It Had To Be You” while a photographer shot a series of the usual wedding poses. When the ceremony was over, the female witness handed them two DVDs of the wedding and said they could pick up the photos at their hotel desk in the morning.

Laying nude in Rick’s arms, pressed against his hard, leanly-muscled body, Victoria was oblivious to the blinking lights on the Las Vegas strip below the terrace of their wedding suite. With the full moon streaming in on their wedding bed, a hot, unquenchable passion seared her soul. She had taken her moon poppy herbs for control. But in Rick’s powerful arms, she felt only the wildness that raged through her in the hot, sultry night.

With a soft growl, she drew him roughly on top of her. His glinting gaze met hers and he looked deep into her eyes, searching a moment. Then he smiled. “I knew it would be like this.” He lowered his lips to hers, his mouth open, moist, and faintly tasting of champagne. He sought her tongue. His heat surrounded her, seeping into her bones, spreading waves of flames until every inch of flesh was on fire and begging for release.

From hidden speakers, thunderous and erotic music intensified her hunger for a love that was no longer forbidden. She wildly raked her long fingers through Rick’s black hair and drew him closer. Age and the years had only made him more gorgeous, and perhaps that maturity had added to his fantastic confidence as a lover. Suddenly, she was oblivious to everything but his scent and powerful thrusts. Wildly, she lifted her pelvis to receive all he had to give. Somehow, even at sixteen, she’d known their joining would be as spectacular as the fireworks she heard exploding outside in the Fourth of July sky.

Then, as her heart swelled and overflowed with her love for Rick, a strange thing happened. The wolf within her vaporized and she saw the ghostly form escape her nostrils and disappear out the window. Her love for Rick had cured her.

Her last thought as she drifted off to sleep in Rick’s arms was the hope that her twin sister would find someone as wonderful as Rick and find her own cure. An image of her vulnerable sister looking up at Rory with interest chilled her bones. Something eerie and unsettling warned her that maybe she shouldn’t have encouraged Valerie to talk to him.
