Kevin jumped him, but Mikah moved as if someone hit “fast forward,” turning slightly while he held out his arm and clotheslined him. Kevin crumpled down, shook his head, then he jumped back up. I realized the Super fast healing of werewolves was not really to my advantage at the moment. I unconsciously took a step backwards.

Kevin snarled at Mikah. Mikah had explained to me most werewolves weren't potential Alphas. As I understood it, only Alphas could change when it wasn't the full moon. That meant Kevin or Mikah would stay in their human forms, but that still didn't make them human when it came to the amount of damage they could do. Kevin's eyes were completely gold now, and he came out swinging at Mikah. I guess he got in a lucky shot and Mikah went flying across the room, slamming into my coffee table that seemed to explode. A shard shot past me and hit the hallway wall. Mikah got up and I could see a line of blood on his left arm.

He jumped all the way from where he had been thrown, knocking Kevin down as he landed on top of him. He pulled his arm back and punched the other man so hard there was a splay of blood that arched out. He grabbed Kevin's shirt front and yanked him up with enough force the material ripped, but not until Mikah had headbutted him hard enough I could actually feel the concussion from where I stood.

Kevin's eyes rolled back into his head. Mikah stood up, effortlessly holding the other man off the floor with one arm. He slammed him against the door. “If you ever come near us again, I will call challenge on you in front of the Pack. And I will fucking win, and you will be exiled. Do you fully understand what that would mean to you? Now get the fuck out!” Mikah opened the door and flung Kevin at least twelve feet away on to the sidewalk. I hoped none of my neighbors saw anything. He slammed the door so hard it actually rattled. My carry-on bag fell over as if it had fainted.

“Oh, honey,” he said, “I'm so sorry you had to see that. I can still smell your fear. All I could think about was making sure you were ok.” He came to me, crushing me so hard into his arms I was afraid he might accidentally hurt me. He must have caught himself, and the pressure eased, but he still had his head buried into my shoulder. I felt a dampness and realized he was still bleeding and my robe was soaking it up.

He must have sensed my confusion and he backed away a few inches, apparently trying to figure out what was wrong. His eyes widened when he looked at my robe, then looked down at his arm. “Are you ok?” I asked.

He smiled and held up his arm to me. As I watched, the jagged edge of the wound seemed to flow back together. The blood around it dried and flaked off. Guess werewolves didn't need any sort of Healthcare coverage. “Let's just say when we get hit, it hurts the same way it would hurt if we were human. The healing factor doesn't impact that. But to answer your question, I'm fine.” He looked over at the broken furniture. “I'm in a lot better shape than your home. I think I should also check on the door to make sure it's still on its hinges. I sort of got carried away towards the end.”

“What did you mean when you said you would challenge him?” To my surprise, a little gold had crept back into his eyes.

“There are two sorts of challenges. One is major--it's when one person challenges the Pack Master for that position. But Pack members who aren't potential Alphas can formally challenge one another. It can be to move up in Pack hierarchy, or in my case, to settle an argument that's gone so far it's dangerous. It lets the Pack know what's going on, since not only our Pack, but the whole Supernatural Community is potentially threatened in terms of our existence being made public if a fight like the one that just happened would have taken place in a public setting. For Kevin to lose the challenge would mean he would be branded a lone wolf.

“He'd be driven out of the Pack and shunned by the other Packs for at least a year. He could then petition to another Pack to join that one, if he's kept his nose clean. He'd never be allowed back in the Fangzahn Clan.” I must have looked confused. “Oh, each Pack has a Clan Name. Fangzahn is ours. What I need you to hear is I've done everything I can to keep you safe. If the threat of being challenged isn't enough, my doing so not only puts the whole Pack on alert to monitor Kevin, but it also means there's no way he'll be allowed to stay in the Seattle area. Word will be sent out to the local Supernatural Community, so all sorts of eyes will be kept on him. We police our own. But let's just say there are also some...Enforcers in the full community that wouldn't hesitate to deal with someone like Kevin in a more...permanent way.”

I reached out and pulled him to me. I was starting to realize dating someone who isn't exactly human wasn't simply about having someone who could open any jar for you, or pick up the sofa to let you vacuum underneath it. It felt as if I were suddenly “married to the mob,” and there was going to be a whole set of new rules I would have to learn.

“Let's go back to bed and I'll help you clean up all the mess later. Then we can go shopping for new furniture tomorrow.” He picked me up in those amazing (and now non-bleeding) arms, and carried me back to the bedroom. As he gently put me down, he added, “And it looks as if I also owe you a new robe. Blood stains are hard to get out.” He looked as if he were about to say something else but decided it was best not to. I decided it was best to get back to normal as soon as possible. I tugged on the robe's tie and let everything slide off, letting me display my body completely. Mikah's eyes were fully golden now.

“My god, you're beautiful,” he whispered, his voice husky. God knows if I were a werewolf, my eyes would probably be platinum by now. I stood up on my tiptoes, pressing my hands against his chest. I then leaned forward and we both fell heavily back on to the bed and he started laughing.

“Lie down, baby,” I whispered. I've been wanting to try reverse cowgirl with you.” I had him lie completely flat on the bed. “You've worked so hard tonight you deserve to just relax and let me do the work.” I straddled him, my round ass in his face, which I knew he enjoyed. I steadied myself with my hands on the bed, then deliberately wiggled my butt as I slowly scooted back, trying to position myself on to his stiff cock. I kept moving my ass, which was not only fun, but let me tease the tip of his cock some more while I sought the best angle of entry. I leaned just a little more forward and lifted up a teense more--and--docking complete!

He put his strong hands on my ass to help steady me as he began to thrust, finding his rhythm. In this position I felt more in control and as he was doing his part, I again leaned forward a tiny bit more and bang! He hit my G-spot! I moaned and pushed back, putting more pressure every time he slammed into me. I kept feeling myself fill up with passion and without thinking, I slammed fists on to the bed. That made me laugh because I realized if I were a werewolf I would have just broken the bed. It made me admire Mikah even more because I realized how much control he had to have at all times. I was wondering how he managed to do that while having an orgasm, when I had an orgasm.

At the same time he cried out and I felt him fill me. This was the first time we had ever come together. I rolled off and he moved to spoon me. We were both facing the end of the bed because of where I had started. He pulled me against him, and I thought this was worth having to deal with an occasional psycho ex or--what did he call them-- Lone Wolves? I let out a deep breath and felt myself completely at ease.

After a couple of minutes, Mikah said, “Bree?” I looked over at him. His face looked a little worried. Was something wrong? Oh, god, I hope there wouldn't be another ex involved. I didn't want any more broken stuff. “There's something I've been meaning to ask you.” He sat up and I automatically followed suit. He was still holding me in his arms, but looking directly into my eyes. His own were back to their normal color. “I was waiting for the right time, but tonight only made me realize more how much you mean to me. How special you are to me, and how I never want anything to happen to you.”

He got up and walked over to reach into his coat pocket. He came back over and knelt in front of me. “Bree,” he said gently, holding up a small box, pushing it into my hand. “Will you marry me?” I went numb (wha
t my therapist tells me is my automatic response to stress) and opened up the box to see an enormous engagement ring inside.

“Oh, my god,” I stuttered. I also realized I wasn't numb. I was surprised, sure, but I felt as if I was having another orgasm. He placed the ring on my finger and it fit perfectly. Knowing his attention to details, I suspected he had gotten one of my other rings out to get the size right.

“Oh, Mikah,” I babbled--”Of course I'll marry you! You're the best thing that's ever happened to me.” I hugged him and kissed him passionately.

He crawled back up and joined me on the bed, pulling me back into a spooning position. I held up my hand, admiring the beauty of the ring. My sister would just shit. I needed to introduce Mikah to my mother. “Mikah--I realize I don't have the easiest of families to marry into. But I also want to make sure you let me know the best way to support you and your Pack. You've never mentioned your own family. I don't know if for wolves a Pack just replaces a family. I get the sense there's a whole Supernatural world out there that has its own way of doing things.”

I sat up and turned to face him. “I know what it's like to think of myself as Native American and know I'm not exactly “standard white girl.” I realize I'm human and there must be so much to learn about doing the right thing by Pack standards.”

“That means a lot to me,” he said, kissing my cheek. “Pack politics can get complicated. There are also some things you should probably learn about other Supes. You'll be noticed once you're married to someone like me. Let's not start tonight, but I'll share with you what I can. Sort of Werewolf 101.”

I kissed him back on his full lips. “Is there an App for that?”

  Chapter Three

  Bree

I sipped my caramel mocha and listened to my sister sputter on. The caramel mocha was really good. Conversation with my sister varied in quality--unfortunately it rarely varied in quantity. Delia reminded me of the old joke--when it comes to conversation, there are two types of people: those who can talk on any subject--and those who don't need a subject. I nodded to pretend I was listening and cheerfully dipped a chocolate-almond biscotti into my cup. Perfection.

“I mean, really,” Delia concluded, or more likely, she was having to take a breath, “you honestly expect me to believe your new boyfriend is a werewolf? Werewolf, my ass. It sounds like you've used your chemistry degree to start your own meth lab and you're sampling your product.”

I put my biscotti down and looked her in the eye. “Look at me, sister dearest. We both wear size 22. Do I really look like I'm doing crystal meth on the side?” I picked my biscotti back up and punctuated my response with a satisfying crunch. “And as a matter of fact, Mikah is someone who goes furry once a month.”

  Delia

I will admit I was unhappy--my low-cal drink tasted like shit and what I really wanted was what Bree was having. I had been on my current diet for six days and had lost a total of one pound. Bree did whatever she wanted and remained the same size. I constantly struggled with my weight, just as our mom did, and I remained the same size. What the hell was I doing wrong? And I will admit I was jealous of Bree's new boyfriend. He looked like a fitness model and apparently his only shortcoming was the fact he was a mythological creature like a unicorn. I'll admit she had sent me pictures of them together on Facebook. That meant she really was seeing him, or she had gotten even better at Photoshop.

“So, where did you meet him, a Zoo? A Fantasy and Science-Fiction Convention? Oh, I know--he's a graduate student from Transylvania.” I couldn't resist and grabbed the other biscotti on her plate and bit into it. Heaven.

  Bree

“As a matter of fact, his family is originally from Germany, but they've been here since the American Revolution, not as long as our family (our grandmother is from the Gila River Indian Reservation in Arizona), but pretty much established for such late-comers. And he's a software developer. We met during the full moon when he and his Pack were doing a Run on the Hoh Indian reservation.” She chewed on the biscotti she had stolen from me and her eyes told me the only thing she was paying attention to was the flavor of the almonds and chocolate.

We really had met when Mikah's pack was doing their monthly event. I've learned to think about it as the cultural equivalent of folk-dancing. I thought I was completely alone, and had been testing out my new vibrator (which I would highly recommend). Wolves can smell something more than a mile away, and apparently my pussy packed a lot of power. I mean it smelled fresh and inviting enough where I first heard a few howls and then found five wolves in front of my tent. Mikah was the one who put his head on my lap and then rolled over and shifted back to his human form. He provided what we call in science, “empirical evidence” of lycanthrophy. He's not a potential Alpha, which basically means he only changes during the full moon--well, to be specific, he can also shift the day before or the day after the full moon, but he has to really concentrate.

  Delia

I so wanted to order a caramel mocha and more biscotti. “And you're telling me this, why?” I could understand her wanting to brag she had bagged a really hot guy, but if I were Bree, I definitely would not bring up how they got their kicks out of her role-playing not so little Red Riding Hood. Oh, Jeez--I wonder if her new boyfriend was a furry--I had seen that on CSI, which featured a group of people at a convention where they all dressed up like they were mascots for a sports team. I tried to remember what the mascot of the Minnesota Timberwolves looked like. I wasn't buying it. Bree was always really vanilla. I was the one who knew what I was doing long before whatshername popped Fifty Shades of Paid out of her vee-jay like a ping-pong ball.

Bree broke out in that big smile that I knew from experience meant she was going to up the ante of good news. Oh, how she loved to make me suffer. I suppose she was going to tell me Wolfboy was not only handsome, but rich. Maybe I could order some biscotti to go after Bree left. “I'm telling you because of this,” she said, taking a jewelry box out of her purse. She pushed it over to me and inside was a fucking engagement ring.

“Well, shit fire and save matches!” I said. This was the first time Bree had surprised me since we were five and visiting Grandma on the reservation. I never believed anything she told me about outhouses ever since. I took it out and put it on my own finger--of course it was a perfect fit. We weren't twins. I was the pretty one, and I was nearly a year younger. But we had always worn the same size. It would have doubled my wardrobe if I would ever be caught dead in what she picked out. She spent her high school years looking like she worked in the library. I moved my hand, watching the rock glitter. I guess software design paid pretty well. “Have you--”

  Bree

“Have I told our mom? No. I wanted you to be the first to know. I am very aware we haven't always gotten along, but you are my sister. Mikah is out of state at a conference, and we have a reservation at Canlis when he comes back, so I can introduce him to mom.” I held out my hand, figuring with her history, Delia could somehow lose my ring within five minutes. If it got stuck on her finger I was ready to hack it off and call her Lefty. I took a deep breath and reminded myself three years of therapy had taught me my sister had done the best she could with what she had. I needed to forgive her and move on--after I got my ring back.

  Delia

“Congratulations,” I said, keeping the ring on my finger. I have to admit it looked good on me. Bree would be better suited with a smaller stone that would match her more mousy personality. I was the one who should be wearing something this size. It made my hand look small. I looked up and saw she had her hand stretched out, her palm facing upward. I sighed and gave her back the damned ring. “Tell me more about this whole wolf stuff.”

  Dutch

“Back to the Hoh, huh?” I took another hit from the bong and handed it to Davis, our Pack Master. He finished it off and put it on the desk. I kicked back the last of the Jack Daniels in my glass and looked at it, hoping he'd get the hint. I should be so lucky.

“It's been convenient. Hard to find a place more isolated. I figure we'll keep our Runs there for a few more months. I don't want to get too predictable.” He took another swallow of his drink, but it was half full. I knew the bottle wasn't coming out until he had drained his glass, so I just needed to make sure I was around until then. “You heard about Mikah, right?” He moved the bong over and put his feet up on his desk.

“I know he's off at some conference in California,” I offered. I liked Mikah, but we weren't all that close. Once he started going out with Bree, all of us were seeing less of him. I wasn't one of those who had found her our first time at the Hoh spot, but I had certainly heard several versions of the story. Some I believed more than others.

“He's proposed to that woman of his,” Davis said, finishing off the rest of his glass. Hot damn--that definitely meant I'd get round two. Thank you, Mikah, for making an honest woman out of her so I could get another shot of JD. “That means we need to do something to celebrate.”

“I thought she was human,” I said, subtly pushing my empty glass just a little closer to him. “Not that there's anything wrong with that. Has she agreed to convert? “ Davis reached into the bottom drawer and pulled out the bottle of Jack. It was a good day. I held up my glass as he refilled it and then refreshed himself.

“She's considering it. Anyway, I want you to help put something together for Mikah. Nobody knows strip clubs like you do.”

  Delia

And that's how I found myself in my rented RV on the Hoh Indian reservation, my pussy primed with a new bottle of Lavender Rose's Good Clean Love. I hoped it would prove to be as good at wolf bait for me as it had been for Bree. I had also brought a few more toys with me than my sister had thought to bring. Of course, her idea of fun was a night with the latest issue of Scientific America. Maybe her new boyfriend (sorry--fiancé) could get her to loosen up some. I ate another one of those really awful tasting Skinny Cow imitation candy bars and wrapped up my preparations.
